Speaker 1: Welcome to the podcast as flipping the script on social networks.
00:00:03
Speaker 1: I'm Siddharth Rat Shekhar. And today we are diving into
00:00:05
Speaker 1: how we can evolve from mindless scrolling to purposeful learning,
00:00:08
Speaker 1: forget the likes and the ads and the noise. Because
00:00:11
Speaker 1: this is all about creating a learning social network where
00:00:14
Speaker 1: the focus is on growth knowledge, real connections. And also
00:00:17
Speaker 1: imagine a space dedicated to one topic filled with courses, workshops,
00:00:21
Speaker 1: Gamification and a safe environment to collaborate and thrive. So,
00:00:25
Speaker 1: are you ready for this? Let's transform your social habits
00:00:28
Speaker 1: and let's get started.
00:00:30
Speaker 1: Hey there s here. Welcome to yet another episode of
00:00:32
Speaker 1: The Freedom is this podcast. And if you have not
00:00:34
Speaker 1: yet subscribed to me on Apple or Spotify, please do
00:00:36
Speaker 1: that right away. OK. So social networks, it has evolved
00:00:39
Speaker 1: over the years from when myspace started way back in
00:00:43
Speaker 1: the early two thousands. In fact, I even remember before
00:00:45
Speaker 1: that it was MS N Messenger, Yahoo Messenger Mirc if
00:00:48
Speaker 1: you remember some of those days and then Facebook started
00:00:50
Speaker 1: in 2004. And then youtube came much later and then
00:00:53
Speaker 1: all of the networks, Instagram
00:00:54
Speaker 1: and whatsapp and all the other platforms that meta has
00:00:57
Speaker 1: actually built as well as other competing platforms along the
00:01:01
Speaker 1: world around the world. Uh It has evolved in four stages.
00:01:05
Speaker 1: You know, the first stage of social networks was all
00:01:07
Speaker 1: about friends. If you remember back in the day, the
00:01:09
Speaker 1: orchid days where we found our school friends
00:01:11
Speaker 1: and the initial days of Facebook, we sort of just
00:01:13
Speaker 1: make friend requests and it was more like sharing pictures
00:01:16
Speaker 1: and birthday messages and you know, you would change your
00:01:19
Speaker 1: profile pic and everybody would know what's happening in your life,
00:01:21
Speaker 1: an anniversary or birthday. So it is more about friend
00:01:24
Speaker 1: to friend, which is the first wave of the social networks.
00:01:28
Speaker 1: And then we saw after that all these different social
00:01:30
Speaker 1: media platforms, including Twitter and others started to go more
00:01:33
Speaker 1: towards micro topics or groups. If I should say, even
00:01:36
Speaker 1: Facebook groups started to get.
00:01:37
Speaker 1: And even if you look at other platforms, uh it
00:01:41
Speaker 1: is more around topic based and of course on Instagram
00:01:44
Speaker 1: and everything else as you start to grow, it is
00:01:45
Speaker 1: more around. Hashtag so, you know, you could even though
00:01:48
Speaker 1: it was not a group, but you can actually track
00:01:50
Speaker 1: a topic. Now, even on linkedin linkedin groups was popular.
00:01:53
Speaker 1: I still remember back in the day even now it
00:01:54
Speaker 1: may be popular. But I remember back in 2011, 2012,
00:01:58
Speaker 1: I was a part of many linkedin groups and there
00:02:00
Speaker 1: was quite a few uh you know, quite a lot
00:02:02
Speaker 1: of engagement
00:02:03
Speaker 1: in those groups. And then the third wave of social
00:02:05
Speaker 1: media is moving from friends to groups and hashtags it
00:02:09
Speaker 1: moved more towards video content and micro video content. OK.
00:02:14
Speaker 1: I'm talking about, you know, viral content and reels start
00:02:18
Speaker 1: to pick up steam. And this is we are talking
00:02:20
Speaker 1: about in the last 5 to 6 years. Uh even
00:02:22
Speaker 1: just before COVID onward, we saw like a massive growth
00:02:25
Speaker 1: in micro video content less than one minute.
00:02:28
Speaker 1: And everybody started to do reels and many of the
00:02:31
Speaker 1: big influences that you see today on Instagram, they're all
00:02:34
Speaker 1: born on reels. I mean, in the sense, they have
00:02:37
Speaker 1: started the whole game of reels and they were, they
00:02:39
Speaker 1: built their influence and distribution to a massive way in
00:02:42
Speaker 1: the last 5 to 6 years through real content. In fact,
00:02:46
Speaker 1: even before the typical social media, you know, was growing,
00:02:50
Speaker 1: uh I would say the first media, the most meaningful
00:02:53
Speaker 1: media was blogs. OK? When I say meaningful is
00:02:55
Speaker 1: no ads are very focused on the content long form
00:02:58
Speaker 1: people get a lot of value spending time. But then
00:03:01
Speaker 1: after blogging came all of this stuff. OK. So now
00:03:03
Speaker 1: moving from three, from this uh reels and content, the
00:03:08
Speaker 1: fourth phase of social media is all about ads. So
00:03:11
Speaker 1: now if you look at Facebook, Facebook is way different
00:03:14
Speaker 1: compared to what it was before 1015 years ago. And
00:03:17
Speaker 1: now Facebook is literally dead because it's all only ads, right?
00:03:19
Speaker 1: You just open the news feed every two posts that
00:03:21
Speaker 1: some somebody's
00:03:22
Speaker 1: that is there on the right side and below and
00:03:24
Speaker 1: even Instagram is starting to get filled with ads. And
00:03:27
Speaker 1: that is their business model. And that is how these
00:03:29
Speaker 1: platforms had all had originally presumed to monetize their platform
00:03:33
Speaker 1: by losing, you know, millions of dollars or billions of
00:03:37
Speaker 1: dollars just acquiring customers and on technology when there was
00:03:40
Speaker 1: no monetization model before ads. And of course, ads has
00:03:43
Speaker 1: been around for a long time. I'm not saying it
00:03:44
Speaker 1: is something new, but you can see the it has
00:03:47
Speaker 1: grown to such an extent right now where most
00:03:49
Speaker 1: social media platforms are only based on ads. So which
00:03:52
Speaker 1: leads me to now the topic of this podcast is
00:03:55
Speaker 1: how to build a learning social network that actually makes
00:03:58
Speaker 1: you smarter because social media originally was supposed to make
00:04:02
Speaker 1: you connected with other people. But I'm very sad to
00:04:05
Speaker 1: say that uh there's more discussion, there's more disconnection in
00:04:09
Speaker 1: this world because of social media. OK. So how do
00:04:12
Speaker 1: you build a learning social network that actually makes you smarter?
00:04:14
Speaker 1: No ads just results.
00:04:17
Speaker 1: So there are six elements of a learning social network.
00:04:19
Speaker 1: And please note this down. The first element is focus
00:04:22
Speaker 1: on one topic, for example, internet lifestyle hub is only
00:04:24
Speaker 1: focused on creating teachers and leaders. And we have over
00:04:26
Speaker 1: 30 premium members in this network. And everybody is coming in.
00:04:30
Speaker 1: They're logging into this platform just to get information on
00:04:33
Speaker 1: that one topic without any distractions. The second aspect of
00:04:37
Speaker 1: learning social
00:04:37
Speaker 1: network is learning. So it is not just about mindlessly
00:04:41
Speaker 1: consuming content, but it's about learning through courses and learning
00:04:43
Speaker 1: through live no workshops or live webinars, which is happening
00:04:48
Speaker 1: for the premium members of that particular network and they get,
00:04:51
Speaker 1: they keep getting invited to this. OK? And you may
00:04:53
Speaker 1: be possibly listening to this podcast during my inner circle
00:04:57
Speaker 1: call or during
00:04:58
Speaker 1: my hackathon where I would have asked you to come
00:05:00
Speaker 1: and listen to this. Ok. The third part about learning
00:05:03
Speaker 1: social network is there are no ads because it's a
00:05:05
Speaker 1: private social network. The only way to monetize or the
00:05:08
Speaker 1: creator of the coach monetizes is through their own content.
00:05:11
Speaker 1: So there's absolutely no ads and there's no reason to
00:05:13
Speaker 1: have ads. So it becomes an awesome place where there's
00:05:16
Speaker 1: no distractions. It's not taking you away from the objective
00:05:19
Speaker 1: or the goal of why you come over here. The
00:05:21
Speaker 1: fourth crucial element on a learning social network is Gamification points.
00:05:27
Speaker 1: So right now in our social network, we have point
00:05:29
Speaker 1: system and anybody likes a post, they get two points
00:05:32
Speaker 1: when they comment below the post, they get five points
00:05:33
Speaker 1: and all these points add up. And I have weekly
00:05:35
Speaker 1: giveaways and I also give people awards and vouchers that
00:05:39
Speaker 1: really gets people to come back to this network. So
00:05:41
Speaker 1: even though it may not be as huge as
00:05:43
Speaker 1: Facebook or linkedin or whatever or Instagram for that matter,
00:05:47
Speaker 1: a private learning social network focus on one topic actually
00:05:50
Speaker 1: creates progress for your students because they are coming every day,
00:05:53
Speaker 1: logging in learning something, getting points so that they can
00:05:57
Speaker 1: move forward in whatever they whatever topic they're interested in.
00:06:00
Speaker 1: And number five is the other element of a learning
00:06:04
Speaker 1: social network is collaboration now in a space like linkedin. Yes,
00:06:08
Speaker 1: there's a lot of networking that happens in space of Instagram.
00:06:10
Speaker 1: A lot of collaborations happen even on Twitter, a lot
00:06:12
Speaker 1: of collaborations can happen. But when you have a topic
00:06:15
Speaker 1: focused social network, a learning social network,
00:06:18
Speaker 1: there is a higher chance that you'll be able to
00:06:20
Speaker 1: find people who are more aligned with what you're really
00:06:22
Speaker 1: looking for and to really take those relationships forward. In
00:06:26
Speaker 1: other words, build your return on relationships to translate those
00:06:29
Speaker 1: relationships into meaningful collaborations, alliances and partnerships. And that is
00:06:33
Speaker 1: why inside intern lifestyle hub, we have this concept that
00:06:35
Speaker 1: we are building up right now called community clusters. Where
00:06:38
Speaker 1: as we
00:06:38
Speaker 1: helping everybody build their own individual communities or their own
00:06:41
Speaker 1: learning social networks, what do these social networks start to,
00:06:44
Speaker 1: you know, connect with each other? And two social networks
00:06:46
Speaker 1: are bridged with each other or linked up with each other. Now,
00:06:49
Speaker 1: that is the innovation that we are working on right now.
00:06:51
Speaker 1: And you have many of our coaches who have already
00:06:52
Speaker 1: started collaborating through alliances and partnerships. And finally, the sixth
00:06:57
Speaker 1: element of a learning social network
00:06:59
Speaker 1: that actually makes you smarter is it's a safe space,
00:07:02
Speaker 1: it's a safe space where there are core values and
00:07:05
Speaker 1: principles that are established so that the members of the
00:07:07
Speaker 1: network are able to follow the guidelines. And it is
00:07:10
Speaker 1: not like an open kind of a platform on like
00:07:12
Speaker 1: what you see on Instagram or Facebook or Twitter, where
00:07:15
Speaker 1: you have all kinds of content over there. And of course,
00:07:17
Speaker 1: there is some kind of filtration that they do at
00:07:18
Speaker 1: an algorithm level,
00:07:20
Speaker 1: but it is not really a safe space. Some people
00:07:22
Speaker 1: get spams spammed. Some people get, you know, they get
00:07:26
Speaker 1: all kinds of random messages that is not aligned with
00:07:29
Speaker 1: what they're looking forward to. So here are the six
00:07:31
Speaker 1: elements of a learning social network. And if you want
00:07:34
Speaker 1: to build a learning social network of your own, I
00:07:36
Speaker 1: would highly recommend that you attend my next webinar by
00:07:38
Speaker 1: going to S ID Z sids.co slash live and attend
00:07:42
Speaker 1: my next webinar.
00:07:43
Speaker 1: And if you're already in my community upgrade to diamond,
00:07:45
Speaker 1: because you'll be able to see at a 33 ft
00:07:48
Speaker 1: above the air level on how I actually have built
00:07:51
Speaker 1: and on how I manage the social network. OK. So
00:07:54
Speaker 1: what I would recommend that you do is go to
00:07:56
Speaker 1: SI Z sids.co slash diamond, attend my next diamond showcase
00:08:00
Speaker 1: take that next step and build your own social network,
00:08:03
Speaker 1: your own learning social network that actually makes you smarter,

Speaker 1: which does not have any ads just results for your
00:08:09
Speaker 1: students and the people in that network, wish you all
00:08:11
Speaker 1: the best and catch you in the next episode.
00:08:15
Speaker 2: I.
