We all consume offerings from global brands. Is it possible to invest in their growth stories
too? Let’s find out in this episode with guest Bableen Kaur, Sr. Product Manager at Axis
Mutual Fund, where she takes us through exciting investment possibilities.

[00:00:00] Welcome to Axis Moneynomics, by Axis Mutual Fund.

[00:00:07] The Blaine, have you ever felt guilty after spending money on Netflix, Amazon, Spotify or even

[00:00:16] by some of the Apple products?

[00:00:18] Well yes, Harry but you know what if you could own a piece of these giants and get a chance

[00:00:23] to participate in their long-term growth journey?

[00:00:25] Is that even possible, Bublene?

[00:00:27] Yes, Sean Leigh it's possible.

[00:00:29] In investing in global brands, that sounds very interesting, Bublene.

[00:00:33] Yes, let's talk more about it.

[00:00:35] Great, hello and welcome to another episode of Axis Moneynomics.

[00:00:40] This is Harry from Axis Mutual Fund.

[00:00:43] In today's episode, we are with us, Bublene called Senior Product Manager at Axis Mutual

[00:00:49] Fund and she is going to help us understand all about investing in global brands.

[00:00:59] Welcome to Axis Moneynomics, by Bublene.

[00:01:06] Hey Harry, thanks for having me here.

[00:01:08] So I am a part of the Product Management team at Axis Mutual Fund so I take care of both

[00:01:14] active as well as passive mutual fund schemes including the global funds that we have.

[00:01:19] Sure great, Bublene.

[00:01:21] Let's get started, Bublene.

[00:01:22] Let's be as a first question to you, no wow.

[00:01:25] What is the thing that comes to mind is that why should even people consider investing

[00:01:29] in a global brand?

[00:01:30] Well, Harry, imagine having a piece of the world's most renowned companies in your investment

[00:01:35] portfolio.

[00:01:36] So these brands have proven their metal by establishing themselves as leaders in their

[00:01:40] respective industries across the world.

[00:01:43] Think of the companies, the appers, the Microsoft, the Google's of the world.

[00:01:47] Today we cannot imagine a world without any of them.

[00:01:50] So investing in these global brands allows you to diversify your portfolio beyond the domestic

[00:01:55] companies.

[00:01:56] Global diversification helps you to reduce the concentration risk in the Indian market

[00:02:01] and also gives you exposure to companies with innovative things that may not be available

[00:02:06] in the Indian markets.

[00:02:08] So it's like having a bite of apple, you know quite literally.

[00:02:11] A bite of apple sounds very delicious, Bublene.

[00:02:14] But tell me, Bublene, these giants have been here for quite some years.

[00:02:18] Do they still have room for growth?

[00:02:21] Well, is it that the cup is already full and there's no more space for growth from these

[00:02:26] companies?

[00:02:27] So that's a great question, Harry.

[00:02:29] So despite being giants, many of these global companies are still innovating and expanding

[00:02:33] to new markets.

[00:02:34] Just look at how Amazon started out as a simple online bookstore and now it has become an e-commerce

[00:02:39] giant.

[00:02:40] Look at how Apple is now betting big on healthcare or how Spotify is going deeper with

[00:02:44] personalization.

[00:02:45] So yes, they definitely have room to grow.

[00:02:49] The growing digitization, these companies are also integrating AI and machine learning

[00:02:53] models in their systems to increase efficiency.

[00:02:56] Look at how generative AI models, renewable energy and cutting edge biotech is transforming

[00:03:00] the world.

[00:03:01] Sure, Bublene, I think there's a lot to explore than look forward to from these companies.

[00:03:05] There's something, Bublene, you know, how do I listness sort of get started with investing

[00:03:10] in these brands?

[00:03:11] Well, there are two ways to go about it.

[00:03:14] You can invest directly in the global market or you can go for an indirect route via mutual

[00:03:18] funds.

[00:03:19] Now to invest directly, you'll have to open an overseas trading account with a domestic

[00:03:23] or foreign broker.

[00:03:25] This will also come with a set of regulatory and, you know, compliant challenges as well

[00:03:30] as a higher minimum amount to start with.

[00:03:33] If you do not have the time or expertise to conduct your own research and pick stocks,

[00:03:38] then you may consider the second route which is why our mutual funds.

[00:03:42] Now with mutual funds, you can get easy access to overseas markets without opening a separate

[00:03:47] trading account.

[00:03:48] And through this route, there are two ways, you know, two types of funds you can look

[00:03:52] at.

[00:03:53] So there are mutual funds that offer diversified exposure toward domestic and international

[00:03:58] stocks.

[00:03:59] Then another category which is the international funds which are focused solely on investing

[00:04:04] globally.

[00:04:05] So these funds work just like other equity mutual funds and are managed by professional

[00:04:09] experts.

[00:04:10] Wow, that sounds very simple, Bublene.

[00:04:12] I mean, through mutual funds one can participate in this global brands.

[00:04:16] Folks, if you want to know more about equity mutual funds, don't forget to check out our

[00:04:23] previous episodes.

[00:04:24] While investing in global brands sounds very exciting, probably not sure there must be some

[00:04:29] of their skin wall here, right?

[00:04:31] Absolutely, hurry.

[00:04:32] So no investment is risk-free.

[00:04:35] Global brands are vulnerable to changes in customer preferences, economic downturns

[00:04:39] and industry disruptions.

[00:04:41] The currency fluctuations in geopolitical events may also impact global investments.

[00:04:45] But you can check your risk-refined and accordingly decide which funds are suitable for you,

[00:04:50] you know?

[00:04:51] So remember, just like a perfect cup of tea needs time to brew your equity investments

[00:04:55] also need time to brew.

[00:04:56] Great, Bublene.
