[00:00:00] Welcome to the first episode of Audx. This episode is called Calcutta Dreaming. It is an

[00:00:09] audio tour of the city of Calcutta but without any narration to guide you through it. Instead,

[00:00:14] what you have is actual immersive sounds from the city, all recorded on location. The

[00:00:20] idea of this episode is to put you in the heart of the city. If you have never been to

[00:00:25] you should be able to create this city in your mind using the sounds and fuel by your imagination.

[00:00:30] If you belong to Calcutta or have been there, then perhaps you feel a sense of familiarity with

[00:00:36] audio. All the recordings were done over a period of three days in March 2020. Disclaimer,

[00:00:42] I have never been to Calcutta before this or even afterwards. Of course, three days are not

[00:00:47] enough to get a true flavour of the city so I have let the audio clips decide the narrative.

[00:00:52] Some of the rather famous locations covered in this episode are Church Street, India Coffee House,

[00:00:57] Park Street, Trinkas Restaurant and Bar, Victoria Memorial, Park Street Cemetery,

[00:01:01] Prince of God, among a few others. Hope you enjoy this first episode of Audx. Calcutta Dreaming.

[00:07:24] And there are nuts and nuts

[00:07:27] We are going to get a little late, we are going to get late.

[00:07:30] We are going to get late.

[00:08:27] Oh

[00:08:57] Tase na Maar Rukal

[00:09:03] Ajo Buonan

[00:09:04] Is there a

[00:09:06] Ponnt government

[00:09:07] At Jotivosu

[00:09:08] Utsuga Bhat Buttu Daya Bhatacharya

[00:09:11] Jitna Vikkal Kata

[00:09:13] Nia impupuva

[00:09:14] Unt ke Jamanen

[00:09:16] Ajo Anave

[00:09:18] Sudhu Kama Aur Khau

[00:09:20] Jitna Villilita Lu Ho

[00:09:22] Mumta Bana Jai Mumta Va Na Jika

[00:09:23] Jaja Batija Hai

[00:09:24] and the three kings of the Kongres were also fighting.

[00:09:29] As soon as they saw the three kings, they left the Jail and went back.

[00:09:34] The second powerful man, the man of the Moon, the king of the Moon,

[00:09:42] the king of the Moon, the king of the Moon.

[00:10:15] This is the sector of the country.

[00:10:22] The public sector has given the private to the public and the government.

[00:10:32] The government is responsible for the public.

[00:10:36] First, we have to eat the bread on the bread.

[00:10:40] We don't have bread.

[00:10:44] What else can we eat?

[00:10:46] We have to eat it.

[00:10:50] There is no bread.

[00:10:54] What will we do?

[00:10:56] We have to eat it.

[00:10:58] It's very tasty.

[00:11:30] You will be able to do the Uidja, but why are you still on the government?

[00:11:38] You can do the Uidja for a long time.

[00:11:41] You have to pay for it.

[00:11:43] What's the matter?

[00:13:00] the

[00:13:10] I am going to get the

[00:15:33] She is sitting on the throne. Why is it in black? Because she only would black up the Albert

[00:15:52] throne. That is Queen's statue. Because she was revering the statue.

[00:15:58] She was revered in the Royal Memorial in the 20th century because it was built by the British

[00:16:04] in Queen Victoria's memory that's why. So this is the world famous Makkranah Marble which has been used in Tajog.

[00:16:11] So from Makkranah Rajasthan, they bought the pole by train and they see a one train, the amount of marble they used

[00:16:17] for the 17 miles lock. That is the amount of marble that is Victoria's statue.

[00:16:24] So this is the first Indian to come on time magazine, not after the one, who is the second?

[00:16:32] Not Lhandil, not Nero. And in one line he destroyed the Britishers. You know what has written

[00:16:40] as ruined India, economically, politically, culturally, spiritually. What has sentenced?

[00:16:50] One line was killed in one line. So it was not only a great leader, he was a fantastic

[00:16:56] writer also, speaker which is show 7th March 1938. This is an American magazine which is still

[00:17:03] there today, not any foreigner came, they saw what a proud moment it is for India on the cover.

[00:17:10] So the Britishers started keeping him in their house whereas either he is house or in jail.

[00:17:15] When he was in India, the whole jail got one year and got to the prison. So there's really a amount of

[00:17:21] all the poor jail which today has become a beautiful museum also if they are kind with him more.

[00:17:25] They are bringing him out of jail because of hell sick conditions are so bad.

[00:17:30] So that was 1938 Haripurak Gujarat, very much 1939 again he is distributed from this candidate.

[00:17:37] His name is also written over here. So 3 puri matya prattayat, that was Haripurak Gujarat, 1930.

[00:17:42] Again he has become the Congress party person. Again within 6 months he is going to give his resignation

[00:17:47] where Kolkata Rajashtra, both only square, see how the Indians are receiving him, they are bowing

[00:17:54] even the media came that way to welcome him. That is Nitaji's greatness.

[00:18:00] Unfortunately when India became free in 19th person he has not got the due that he should be getting.

[00:18:05] So now the current government wants the younger generation to know about it.

[00:18:08] That is why this exhibition is so long ago.

[00:18:24] Go.

[00:19:24] The cemetery is one of the oldest cemetery in India and probably in the world.

[00:19:49] The cemetery is 232 years old. It was commissioned in 1767 by 1790 it was full because the dead

[00:19:58] tape was so high because the British had to adapt with the condition, the weather. Most

[00:20:03] of them died mainly because of the Corona jaundice malaria. So this cemetery was by 1790

[00:20:11] because they re-extended it and it was in 1890. And this cemetery is the only cemetery with

[00:20:21] Eastern Accompanies. Only Eastern Accompanies people are buried there. Other than Eastern

[00:20:27] Accompanies nobody is buried. No other beautiful. Eastern Accompanies came here for trading

[00:20:33] and while trading they went on to rule the country. They have looted killed people brutally

[00:20:40] but they have done some good things that gave us a good. India was a jewel in the town

[00:20:46] for them. Wherever they colonize they didn't find anything in what they found in India. And

[00:20:51] there's huge tombs as you are seeing. There's two reasons. One reason is they were all rich

[00:20:58] people East India company. So according to their state rush they made built tombs because

[00:21:05] the middle was cheap. Labor was cheap. And the second reason was why they built these

[00:21:13] huge tombs when the people died from diseases. They didn't want that they were so afraid of

[00:21:20] the disease. So they didn't want the disease to reappear. So they thought they build a bigger

[00:21:25] tomb, make a wall. Where is that person there? And where is this huge tomb? So the disease

[00:21:32] is a lot. So these are the two reasons. Earlier it was free. So to generate this fun, they

[00:21:42] made 2000's and it was tough much. They have started this ticketing system and it's very

[00:21:48] cheap. 20 bucks if we have a grand ad or 50 bucks. And the same prices were for foreigners

[00:21:56] but in other places foreigners they are looking at. Where we pay 20, they pay 500 bucks. The

[00:22:03] British say they do come and search of the ancestors and we have a book here which all

[00:22:11] the people knows the very name of the registered. So they come and locate many of them account.

[00:22:17] Many of them they come from not only England but from South Africa from India. And

[00:22:23] they come in such a way as the ancestors.

[00:22:53] So

[00:23:23] so

[00:23:53] so

[00:24:23] so

[00:24:53] so

[00:25:23] so

[00:25:53] so

[00:26:23] so

[00:26:53] so

[00:27:00] so

[00:27:07] so

[00:27:14] so

[00:27:44] so

[00:28:14] so
