Destiny

In this episode Ankur delves into the complex question of whether destiny exists or if individuals have free will, inspired by a question asked at an event. He shares his conflicted feelings where his mind believes in destiny due to the hints in philosophy, spiritual, and religious texts suggesting everything is pre-planned. However, his heart struggles with this notion due to a strong belief in free will, the importance of choices, and the consequences that follow. He explores the troubling implications of destiny, such as escaping the repercussions of one's actions under the guise of fate. Despite his internal conflict and the lack of a definitive stance, he invites listeners to share their views on this philosophical debate. 00:00 Welcome to Woice with Warikoo: A Journey into Entrepreneurship and Life Lessons00:18 The Destiny Debate: Exploring the Existence of Fate00:30 Philosophical Musings: Destiny vs. Free Will01:48 The Moral Dilemma of Destiny02:55 Concluding Thoughts and Reflections03:22 Signing Off: Stay Tuned for More Insights

[00:00:00] Hey everyone, you're listening to Ankur Warikoo on Voice with Warikoo. On this podcast I

[00:00:07] talked to you about entrepreneurship, how to grow in life, manage personal finances,

[00:00:12] handle failures and a lot more things that just come to my mind. The episode begins.

[00:00:18] Last week, I don't even know if someone asked me do you believe in Destiny or not?

[00:00:22] And it's always an interesting question to answer, right? I've thought about this question

[00:00:26] a lot. And here's my response. My heart wishes that there was no such thing as Destiny,

[00:00:36] but my mind is convinced that Destiny exists. Let me explain. So I've read a lot of philosophy,

[00:00:43] I've read a lot of spiritual texts, I've read a lot of religious texts, ancient wisdom,

[00:00:50] and the more I read them, the more I think about them, the more I try and interpret what they

[00:00:56] are supposed to say or hinge towards. It points me to the irrefutable hints that Destiny exists.

[00:01:05] Everything is pre-planned, everything is written beforehand. Even the fact that you don't believe

[00:01:11] in Destiny, even that's written, right? So if you're like, hey, but I don't believe in Destiny,

[00:01:16] that's also Destiny. It's kind of twisted, it's really cool once you start thinking about it deeply.

[00:01:21] And yeah, that's what it is. But then that's what my mind tells me,

[00:01:28] like it's convinced that Destiny exists. But that troubles me because I'd like to believe

[00:01:34] that there is free will. I'd like to believe that I get to choose and also bear the consequences of

[00:01:41] my decisions. I'd like to believe that I can generate options for myself. And more importantly,

[00:01:49] if Destiny does exist, what if that Destiny isn't fair? What if one can get away with crime or

[00:01:58] injustice because, you know, what hashtag Destiny, I can murder someone. And if it's not written in my

[00:02:04] fate that I will bear the consequences of that, I can actually murder someone and get away with that.

[00:02:09] And I don't know how to reconcile that because my heart wishes, as I said, that there is no such

[00:02:15] thing as Destiny, that we're all men and women of free will, that we get to choose, that we get

[00:02:21] to respond so on. And it's also counter to all the beliefs that I often speak about. Like,

[00:02:28] I'm a form believer that we all should and have to bear the consequences of our decisions.

[00:02:36] But if those decisions are already Destiny, then maybe the choices we made are also Destiny.

[00:02:44] And maybe because of that, the consequences that we bear is also Destiny.

[00:02:49] And in that event, then it doesn't matter. So I'm not sure where I am. I'm actually not even

[00:02:56] sure why I'm recording this and sharing with you. But that's the point of this podcast where

[00:03:00] we just go and share about everything that's on my mind. And if you were to ask me,

[00:03:06] if you would literally put a gun to my head, I'd say, no, you have to choose between the two.

[00:03:11] I would say that there is no such thing as Destiny. But I think a lot of people will disagree

[00:03:18] with me on that. What do you think? Thank you for listening to this episode of Voice with Varaku.
