[00:00:18] is the ultimate IPL preview.

[00:00:23] We're all here and our goal is different shows, news outlets etc. cover things differently.
[00:00:29] We are going to do one episode, all 10 teams just kind of blitz through them.
[00:00:34] Each of us will divide and conquer.
[00:00:36] Varun, let me start by asking how you feel like.
[00:00:37] I know you've been messaging saying seven days out but this is your favorite time of the year,
[00:00:41] right?
[00:00:42] I mean it is and I thought of like it's the most wonderful time of the year before the
[00:00:46] podcast started but I should have done that actually because it does feel like Christmas
[00:00:51] and I've said this before and just before coming on to the podcast I saw a video of Rishabh
[00:00:56] Panth absolutely smoking it in the nets with some great music and great video production
[00:01:02] and I just got all worked up.
[00:01:04] Like it is here, it is one week away and I can't do it.
[00:01:09] Yeah, there has been so much media hype starting and still we have a full week and obviously
[00:01:14] the WPL eliminators today at the time of recording this so it'll be on right after we're done
[00:01:20] recording and the finals will be Sunday and then we get basically four days to pivot DJ.
[00:01:26] I know you've been a little nervous for as a Delhi capitals fan or anybody who's new
[00:01:29] ish to the show, you'll know all through it.
[00:01:31] You may like to learn all through a bunch of Delhi capitals fans but we don't make a lot
[00:01:35] of finals or make a lot of runs added in the men's IPL but in the women's team, two finals
[00:01:40] in a row are you nervous?
[00:01:41] Do you think they can get it done and we'll add inject a little bit of excitement in
[00:01:45] for the men's team?
[00:01:46] I mean the WPL eliminators today right between Mumbai and RCB and I'm just wondering what
[00:01:53] happens if RCB somehow get past Mumbai, you will have two franchises playing that have
[00:01:58] never won a T20 league right?
[00:02:04] So I'm hoping that the Delhi women can do it this time of course we there was heartbreak
[00:02:09] last week last year not last week but yeah exciting times.
[00:02:15] I've also watched yesterday I watched the lords test match the final day and I watched the
[00:02:21] highlight of the final day at Eden Gardens so I've got all the test cricket out of my
[00:02:25] system now and now it's T20 mode so let's go.
[00:02:30] Already for white ball cricket alright here's how this is going to work we're going
[00:02:33] to go one team at a time starting from the bottom of the table last year we're going to
[00:02:36] rotate through and DJ assigned teams and like I'm sensing that they weren't totally arbitrary
[00:02:42] because we got assigned teams that we've had strong points of view out in the past.
[00:02:46] We're going to cover strengths weaknesses we would normally like to talk about an uncapped
[00:02:51] sort of X factor.
[00:02:52] We're going to do that this year but I'm calling uncapped maybe slightly differently which
[00:02:55] is somebody who hasn't played in the IPL or maybe even just that team before honestly
[00:03:01] because since last IPL so many guys have gotten debuts for India that they start that
[00:03:07] many great uncapped players left there obviously enough and then we're going to talk a little
[00:03:12] bit about missing players that's an important part because a lot of teams are missing
[00:03:16] players this year and at the end of the show we will each of the four of us will make
[00:03:20] our top four.
[00:03:21] Playoff predictions obviously somebody at least somebody would be wrong so you get to give
[00:03:26] us a hard time in the comments etc but why don't we start bottom to top lead us off with
[00:03:31] the Sunrizers either one team and I know this was not a coincidence that DJ assigned
[00:03:35] them to you.
[00:03:36] Take a second.
[00:03:37] Yeah and I think DJ missed an opportunity because when he sent us which teams we should
[00:03:40] be talking about he had great takes, orange takes and one of the color and he didn't put
[00:03:45] an S.R.H in the orange take he put it in the great take I mean I just failed to understand
[00:03:50] how somebody could make some mistake like that but anyway since I've been assigned the
[00:03:56] S.R.H team I'm going to choose my words carefully this year because I kind of remember
[00:04:01] just last year of the year before I kind of said they are done before the tournament started
[00:04:06] they're going to be number 10 and I got a lot of feedback for saying that so I'm going
[00:04:12] to be much nicer to S.R.H.
[00:04:16] Let's go through their team so firstly I think after a long time you always think of Brian
[00:04:24] Lara, Moody, Lakshman, Moody Lee a lot of these guys sitting in that dug out almost too many
[00:04:29] minds there what I was reading is that Daniel Vittor is now the kind of new coach and I don't
[00:04:36] think any of these other guys are really associated maybe Moody I didn't read about him but
[00:04:40] I think maybe that change should help them a little bit maybe one person being in charge
[00:04:46] as opposed to having a whole bunch of people but for me the call out here is their big
[00:04:52] win of the auction right paddy sea the guy who is just playing on another level with
[00:04:59] the Mid-Age stach he anything he touches turns to gold I mean he is having the year or
[00:05:06] the last 12 to 18 months off anybody's career like it would be it would be huge just
[00:05:11] to achieve what he has achieved now with him coming in obviously Markham is going
[00:05:19] to have to kind of take a back seat in terms of that captain sea and for me that is something
[00:05:25] I'm a little mixed about right because that comes if you think about it has blown hot
[00:05:30] and cold in the IPL I remember one time he came in for KKR 50 or 60 in like 20 balls
[00:05:37] and then for the rest of the tournament did nothing so it's a little bit mixed back but let's
[00:05:41] come back to it right so pad come in is the captain I see this team as a team that probably
[00:05:48] in my opinion has some of the best overseas players you've got pad come in you've got
[00:05:53] Markham you've got class and you've got Yansen I think those are going to be the four
[00:05:57] overseas I think equally you've got a strong Indian batting lineup when you think of Tripathi
[00:06:05] Ma'am Kagharwal Abhishek Sharma who remember a lot of these guys haven't necessarily been consistent
[00:06:10] for the tournament but they have shown spark so between this set of 7 to 8 core players
[00:06:18] I think they've got a pretty decent lineup now it hasn't worked in the past and as I was
[00:06:25] trying to think through it it has to come down to their bowling for me right they're bowling
[00:06:29] with pad come in coming in it definitely looks stronger but you've got Jadeva not cut Ma'am
[00:06:34] Khande not Rajan Bhovi Farouki from Afghanistan it's just not looking strong enough for me so I
[00:06:45] think this team is going to kind of if they click they're going to do very well in the batting
[00:06:50] Yansen is also there's a bowler so I think the bowling is slightly weaker than the batting but overall
[00:06:58] it's not a it's not a bad all-round team I just don't know what happens because only pad come in
[00:07:03] has really been added to this right everyone else I mentioned was there last year but they
[00:07:07] finished Haasaranga you missed one in the Haasaranga who's not a auction target and I'm like he
[00:07:12] have to play him given how much they went after him in the auction so if you in the squad
[00:07:17] I saw he wasn't there so maybe I missed that out so that's that's my bad then if Haasaranga
[00:07:23] is playing then that poses an even bigger issue for them right because now you've got even more
[00:07:30] overseas players the reason they could get paddy shoes because they got Haasaranga for a throwaway
[00:07:35] price in the auction right and they were high-fiving and all if you remember yeah so they paid one and
[00:07:40] half crore fast run but they have some of the other overseas players they have Glenn Phillips who
[00:07:46] obviously yeah and you mentioned Fuzzalhukh for okay so that's kind of running off the side so
[00:07:50] Varun I guess the question for you is I think you said Markram Janssen Cummins and classes and classes
[00:07:57] I mean you can't play but so Glenn Phillips you don't play at the end no but but Hoopram's in
[00:08:02] for Haasaranga Cummins for the embassies Markram might stay out right I don't think Markram will
[00:08:08] sit out I think he he provides the stability the and the leadership and he's got again I don't
[00:08:15] know numbers but I think he's got a lot of T20 experience behind him in the last few years
[00:08:20] yeah so for me this was actually the problem with Haasaranga picking Cummins as captain
[00:08:25] I mean I don't know who you were given it right my uncle has been had a really rough year last
[00:08:30] year to party Sundar Sharman and none of these guys are captains not not to come out of a rut right
[00:08:37] but I think Cummins is not they got now not a locked overseas slotted tea to any that's the
[00:08:41] problem which is exactly or I say that he's not been consistent and so now you've locked him but
[00:08:47] I'm what I'm saying is given his track record you have to you you have to kind of give him some
[00:08:51] credit right he's winning everything he's touching and so I personally see huge value in Janssen
[00:08:58] I see huge value in class and Markram so the Haasaranga pick to me was a very good pick but the
[00:09:05] only way he comes in if if Markram Janssen sits out on a turning track yeah very fair Varun I do want to
[00:09:12] ask you if where you think they're gonna end up but I think we're gonna hold that and cover those
[00:09:17] all all at the end so thank you great start nice to nice to get deeper into the team
[00:09:23] I'm gonna skip one team as we go from bottom to top of the table last year and there's no secret
[00:09:28] ninth place last year was the Delhi capital side now we are gonna cover them we'll do so at the end
[00:09:32] because all three of them are gonna combine so I'm gonna jump ahead then to the team that is in
[00:09:36] seventh and do a quick preview of the KKR team Varun this is really interesting because obviously
[00:09:42] there was seventh last year I don't think to be honest anybody gave them a great shot
[00:09:47] and yet then they kind of came they won first two of their first three and we were saying oh maybe
[00:09:52] we're wrong and then they lost five out of the next six and so that's where their season kind
[00:09:57] of kind of fell apart so let's talk about the Kolkata night magazine I was thinking about last
[00:10:01] rinku sing was clearly the rock star right some unbelievable results just just just incredible
[00:10:08] there's no amount of hyperbole that's enough for rinku sing and I started looking down the
[00:10:12] rest of the list and I said nithishana was okay I did a couple of these men who they kept in
[00:10:17] yep kept in them for a little bit at least less or he was he kept in all season he was kept in
[00:10:22] yeah it was yes I was yes it was out all season you're right and we'll talk about Jay as in a second
[00:10:27] thank you Iyer was a retention had a great season prior pretty average Narayan pretty average
[00:10:33] so basically I looked down and I said Varun Chakra Varti was the only n-rankable of course
[00:10:37] if I said it was the only really standout performer so couple things then that happened for them
[00:10:43] in the off season with the auction etc they ended up getting Jason Roy who about a week and a half
[00:10:48] a go or so a couple weeks before the IPL withdrawn from the IPL but they were able to get Phil Salted
[00:10:53] and this is something as deli fans we were a little bit about but Phil Salted I think is a great
[00:10:58] like for like replacement for the KKR side and let's talk about the big the big money spend
[00:11:06] eight years out of the IPL eight years he was gone and Mitchell Stark has come back into the IPL
[00:11:12] for record setting 24.75 crore and to be honest it blows the mind a little because he's an
[00:11:18] exceptional Red Bull cricketer he hasn't actually played that much White Bull cricket I mean I think the
[00:11:24] last he other than one or two one off season played T20 since 2022 he played a little bit he played
[00:11:31] the White Bull I mean I think his last White Bull game was November right and the IPL starts at
[00:11:35] the end of March this year so so not great overall from my lens but obviously they spent 24.75
[00:11:41] crores on him the bet being some of the other bets they made KS Bharat Chaitan Sakarya Shafi and
[00:11:47] Rutherford and then Manish Pandey from the deli side which is going to be very interesting and obviously
[00:11:53] I'm probably the only one who cares about it Mujiib and then Gus Atkinson with Gus Atkinson
[00:11:57] this since withdrawn from from the overall IPL pool so I think about a few things right one
[00:12:04] one let me ask you have you been following a little bit of the controversy on Cheshire so
[00:12:10] I can give the rundown what happened but yeah yeah I mean I have but it's it's
[00:12:15] usually at this point don't know what to think anymore right because it's just no clarity yeah there's
[00:12:19] no clarity let's be like there's people have didn't like people have been shitting on him a lot
[00:12:26] and I don't think any of us love him but if you just look at his journey he had a very good world cup
[00:12:33] and then he played tests and then had a back injury got cleared of a back injury
[00:12:42] didn't play the Ranji got given a threat got removed his central contract went back and played
[00:12:48] Ranji and today or yesterday was assessed that his back is not holding up well he was off the field
[00:12:54] important to say played Ranji made 95 in the second innings for Mumbai yeah help Mumbai get
[00:12:59] the win yeah one day at the final of the Ranji trophy and then couldn't take the field on day
[00:13:05] four and day five and now there's just no clarity so if you're the KK outside you're sitting here
[00:13:10] saying we missed our skipper last year we missed him we're missing him potentially again which I
[00:13:15] think is going to be a huge huge huge gap so let me just wrap up rundown I think there's the KKR team
[00:13:21] strengths it was hard to be honest I don't really back them looking at them as a great side this
[00:13:27] year so I'm given away my playoff predictions like I don't think they make a deep run this year
[00:13:32] well I think their strengths continue to be the amount of all-round options they have so if they're
[00:13:35] able to use their impact some smartly Venki Ayur Sunil Narayan under Russell Nitish Rana all
[00:13:42] give them great options with both that and also for me that's the strength I'm highlighting for KKR
[00:13:47] weakness I think to me is Captain Captain C and leadership nothing against Nitish Rana but he's
[00:13:51] not the marquee kind of captain that every every other side has an X-Shayah sayer is out or even just
[00:13:57] a week out having the uncertainty to me I think it's a big weakness and then most of the other
[00:14:02] sides we were going through I was thinking about an uncapped X-Factor or a player that I think
[00:14:06] will show up and this one is interesting but under 19 player born in 2005 that A first of all makes
[00:14:15] we feel so old what I'm talking about Ankhir Shagu Venki who had a great under 19 record I don't
[00:14:21] know how many games he gets I don't know if he starts he just just about 18 and a half years old
[00:14:28] but can also ball some left arm slow left arm orthodox but yeah that'll be really interesting to
[00:14:33] see how they're finally 11 plays out I think some of the some of the plays are pretty predictable but
[00:14:37] I think once you start adding in Mitchell Stark as an overseas guaranteed slot you assume they're
[00:14:43] going to play Phil Salt you assume of course they're going to play Narayan and Russell that's where
[00:14:47] they start getting real what about that I think Gurbaz if I'm not sure I'm going to like Gurbaz
[00:14:52] we can put that in yeah for one that is gonna be there as a nothing bad yeah so then you have to
[00:14:57] leave out one of Stark Narayan Russell Mujib or Salt right and so I think similar to how you
[00:15:06] went over through with this I think they just have a problem of too many quality overseas players
[00:15:10] and not enough of a I don't I think they have a good Indian contingent but not necessarily a balanced
[00:15:15] Indian contingent that makes sense so the women's team like DJ mentioned is in the eliminator
[00:15:21] and has a good run at the the women's IPL but let's talk next about the team that ended up
[00:15:26] six I guess it was in last year's IPL and I'm going to talk about the RCB side so Varan,
[00:15:31] why don't you take us away with the Royal challengers baguard team yeah RCB okay again when I was
[00:15:37] going through my research it showed me that Andy Flower who was previously at the Lucknow
[00:15:43] team has moved over to become the coach of RCB so I'm always interested when I see a switch like
[00:15:50] that because teams like SRH RCB who have not done historically that well in the past when I say
[00:15:58] that well it's with an estrict right but they haven't won enough in the last few years
[00:16:04] I think zero titles in the entirety of the IPL history yeah I'm just saying SRH has one one so I was
[00:16:10] trying to get out of my words but but yeah I think to me the the thing with RCB this year is that
[00:16:19] I don't believe enough has changed to change the result so I almost see them as a team
[00:16:25] who is going to be fourth sneak through because of some other results and because of the fantastic
[00:16:31] batting lineup and then ultimately not be a big enough threat to any of the other three teams
[00:16:39] in the playoff and I say that because that's been the trend they have actually made it to the
[00:16:44] players more often than not in the last few years they have not been a threat and that's it like
[00:16:50] nothing changes and that's kind of what you know these mini auctions do they don't allow you to change
[00:16:56] too much if you if you have a right now they did make one big signing and that was because of
[00:17:02] Hardik Pondi has moved they got Cameron Green and Cameron Green I think is a solid solid young player
[00:17:08] right I'm not I think he's a valuable bowler but I don't necessarily think he's a wicked taking
[00:17:15] bowler so he's kind of your sixth option but with goalie FAF Maxwell Green and Patizar who
[00:17:26] remember did well when he played for RCB last I think the batting is sorted there's nothing to
[00:17:30] really talk about now the middle order when the wickets fall is where the problem has been DK I
[00:17:36] don't think is the same DK we were thinking about three years ago and so I think that is going to be
[00:17:43] a little bit of a risk but man you guys tell me like my pal long rower has been around for a long time
[00:17:49] Anujrawath has been around for a long time there's no change they have not invested in a middle
[00:17:54] order batsman who is gonna take them over the line then I look at the bowling and even more so
[00:18:00] there's basically Mohamed Sriraj and to me the list stops there they've got Akash Deep,
[00:18:09] Karan Sharma, Locky Fatherson, Yash Dayal, Azari Joseph, Rhee Stopli that's it none of these guys
[00:18:17] in my opinion maybe apart from Locky would even make the first 11 right in a in a regular T20 so
[00:18:24] I think that's it now the Bangalore ground supports their batting lineup and so when you think about
[00:18:34] it from an IPL perspective if you're playing 50% of games there and you have a strong batting lineup
[00:18:39] I think that is the reason they have been making it to fourth but otherwise personally I don't see
[00:18:44] them as a strong enough team yeah kind of frustrating actually as you're going through the what's working
[00:18:49] what's not it feels sort of like 2015 almost yeah like that's nothing that's the point you would
[00:18:54] turn away is nothing a change big investment in Alzari Joseph right I think they spent a
[00:18:58] crore or so in turn bring him in but very very quiet auction for them otherwise Locky and Alzari
[00:19:04] they spent in both spent on both but otherwise fairly quiet kind of auction yeah so you can't fault
[00:19:10] them because they tried their best to get bowlers and at the same time they didn't go ridiculous
[00:19:16] like stock and come in right if they'd got a stock for 24 crores we would have been criticizing them
[00:19:19] even more so I think they see the gap I think green was of again I'm saying there was a fantastic
[00:19:26] addition if he can bat at four I think it's a it's a fantastic addition but the bowling hasn't changed much
[00:19:33] very very fair I think disappointing to not see more action environment me quickly ask you because
[00:19:37] we are a show that's a big band does where I'd have a monster IPL season he's going to have the
[00:19:43] biggest IPL season ever because they have said apparently I've been reading all the rumors
[00:19:50] of about slow pitches we're not going to suit him he may not be around for the world T20 and
[00:19:58] I mean he's just going to have a monster IPL I can feel it all right good good good coverage nice
[00:20:04] to see kind of overall how our CB shaping up and it's the only team that Delhi feds empathize
[00:20:11] just a little now DJ to your point maybe after the WPL if our CB manages to come up with the win
[00:20:18] we will stop having that empathy for being titleless DJ I think we have you back fully so let's go
[00:20:23] through let's go back a little bit up the list and talk about the Punjab Kings let's do a preview
[00:20:28] of them yeah of course and of course PBKS is another team that has never won the IPL right so
[00:20:35] as one of the OGs and despite a name change like the Delhi team they are still windless in the
[00:20:40] IPL despite getting to the final once in 2014 now when I look at this squad right what I see is
[00:20:47] Johnny Bestow Liam Livingston Kagi Sorawada Nathan Ellis Sikandar Raza Chris Voke Sam Karan
[00:20:54] there's some really good names on that list and they've got some really solid Indian players as well
[00:21:00] they've got the likes of Ars Deep they've got Rahul Chahar they've got Shikhar Dhawan who
[00:21:07] is going to be their captain and opening but I guess he's going to play their anchor role
[00:21:13] so that I mean Prab Simran and Varun's famous line last year was which may Prab Dicta after he's
[00:21:18] got a hundred Prab and Jatesh those two guys Jatesh been playing their finisher role for India
[00:21:26] I mean this is a really solid solid looking team Rishi Dhawan did really well in the say
[00:21:32] trophy last year he was one of the standout players there I mean it's Harshael Patel is also part
[00:21:37] of their squad as well so when I was going through this list I was like they look really really
[00:21:42] solid I mean I couldn't find like an uncapped X factor to be honest because some of these players
[00:21:47] I don't know anything about them I've looked at their names as a Prince Chaudhary Ars Shikho Sharmad
[00:21:52] they're on 2024-25 so they're not part of the recent under 19 stuff so I mean I'm not really
[00:22:00] picked on them so I don't actually have an uncapped X factor name for you but this looks like a
[00:22:05] really solid squad so I'd say their strength is the number of all rounders the guys are just named
[00:22:09] I mean all of them can bowl and bat right plus they're all explosive batters in that middle order
[00:22:15] that can really go at a rate of not someone like Aliya M Livingstone and Johnny Bestow if they get
[00:22:19] going it's going to be pretty impossible to stop right the one thing I thought if you're looking
[00:22:25] for a weakness is they haven't really got glass batting like when you look at a RCB right you look
[00:22:33] at a Virat you look at like a a Maxi you look at I don't know DK those guys all bring a bit of
[00:22:40] class to the batting it's kind of one gear throughout it's other than maybe Shikhar who's going
[00:22:45] to be their sole anchor now the question is do you need anchors in modern t-20 cricket maybe not so
[00:22:53] they've got one gear and it's the fifth gear it's pretty good I mean it's pretty good squad overall
[00:22:59] get to my mind would you would you say as you were talking I think the gap to me is the Indian betting
[00:23:07] yeah that's what I was that's what I was thinking
[00:23:10] there's Shikhar Dhawan there's her preaching but when you say Indian batting you could you
[00:23:14] could move from Simran in jittesh up the order a little bit right yeah you can both are not
[00:23:20] excellent though you know what I mean they're not bank to that's what I went with the class
[00:23:24] batting like when you think of like a Virat or somebody you think of like your class right so
[00:23:30] can I ask you do you think the fact that their Skipper obviously Shikhar Dhawan has not played
[00:23:35] professional cricket since May 18th of 2023 when he played his last IPL game do you think that hurts
[00:23:41] them I mean now Favf we didn't talk about that from an RCB lens but Favf didn't as blade much
[00:23:48] so what do you think that's gonna hurt them yeah but I guess Favf must have played other leagues around
[00:23:53] the world right because he can participate in other leagues I don't think Shikhar's done that so
[00:23:57] I mean Shikhar is a class batter and ever since he got dropped from the Indian squad he hasn't
[00:24:02] really played much but I think he's a really good player and in that lineup his role is going to
[00:24:10] be super crucial because it's it's guiding that that team to like through with everybody else around
[00:24:17] him going ballistic Shikhar can just play his game and almost play himself back into form because he's
[00:24:22] a class batter man like he's done well for Delhi in the past Sunriser Zee who's a rock for them so
[00:24:27] I think he'll be fine but you're right I mean he hasn't had a lot of competitive cricket recently so
[00:24:31] it's a good point yeah all right we're gonna do one more quick team here I will jump the table a little
[00:24:36] so that we're not having one of us talk too much and I'm gonna talk about the Mumbai Indians
[00:24:41] who have had a lot going on in the off season and then we're gonna take a quick break after that so
[00:24:47] after more than a decade the Mumbai Indian team have a new captain right very very quick recap of
[00:24:52] what happened in the off season Royal Sharma was stripped of his captain say captain the side
[00:24:57] how the Pandya was brought in the massive marquee transfer which Varun alluded to the Cameron Green had
[00:25:02] to be released to bring him in and Pandya is the new returning to the Mumbai Indians franchise but the
[00:25:08] new captain of the Mumbai team I think I look through this side now and actually we looked last year
[00:25:14] and they other than then ended up having good season they didn't look great right on paper you had
[00:25:21] boomra missing and the Jaffa Archer experiment sort of didn't really work I look at this here
[00:25:26] and I say it is probably to me the most the most rounded every other team has at least somebody missing
[00:25:33] from a withdrawal for an injury nobody major really missing for this Mumbai side and yeah and then
[00:25:41] they made some really really smart they looked last year and said the one area we were basically missing
[00:25:45] out was face bowling and they made three really smart acquisitions right they brought in Gerald
[00:25:52] Kotsay who seems like he's he's gonna be a big deal for South Africa for the future they bought
[00:25:57] an Tushara and mother Shankar from Sri Lanka I mean Tushara just got a hat jacket against Bangladesh
[00:26:02] she's another kind of slingy Sri Lankan bowler I don't even know he'll get to play but that's how

[00:26:51] side looks incredible I think if I have to pick a weakness it's going to be the potential
[00:26:56] dressing room dynamic a little bit Ishan Kishan is coming off of you know some some media hype and
[00:27:02] media discussion not getting a central contract so he'll have a point to prove but you know
[00:27:07] mental state may not be the strongest and then Rohit Sharma I don't know how it's going to go
[00:27:12] there is Harthik truly embraced Rohit as the all format Indian team captain who now no longer
[00:27:17] even has an IPL team to run or is there some tension in there I think that to me is a potential
[00:27:22] weakness my my ex-factor for them this year is going to be general coach say I think I'm calling
[00:27:28] him uncapped because he's new to the IPL and I think that the only thing I would mention
[00:27:33] for me that's that I haven't really talked specifics on is is the spin bowling right last year
[00:27:39] they had a little bit lucky I don't think anybody really predicted that Peehrsh Chowla would come in
[00:27:44] and take 20 plus whatever he took 23 24-week it they have made some acquisitions they brought in
[00:27:50] Shamsi from the South African clicker clicker all around her they have Shares Gopal so they
[00:27:55] they have some decent talent but for me spin is there a little bit of the missing pieces of
[00:28:00] puzzle but honestly I had to really dig deep to find that I think the moment inside is absolutely
[00:28:05] stacked this year well I agree with you but I think you're overplaying them bowling a little bit
[00:28:12] I think that if push comes to Shamsi teams like RCB or others can tear their bowling apart right
[00:28:21] that's the that's the only thing that I think could be a potential I think that's fair I'm
[00:28:26] probably overhyping the return of Bumrah in my head because to me if they could get to play
[00:28:30] off-slast year without Bumrah you've now getting you're getting him back then you brought in a
[00:28:36] coach say you brought in and then you may choose to you have all around up Peehrsh obviously we
[00:28:40] play again hard to think as a Skipper kid and then you used to you have options but I think you're
[00:28:45] right that's probably the main thing yeah I don't know if you should play again I saw some
[00:28:49] videos of him it does not look bad but he's been playing Ranjhi so that's important to caveat
[00:28:55] like he played Ranjhi through to November December ish so you got a he's got more magic
[00:28:59] experience or match fit as arguably than then I like the Shreya's new palpick

[00:31:26] absolutely yeah I heard you were not pleased with this batting but I mean it's it's a pretty
[00:31:31] harsh assessment of a guy who's taken 500 plus so kids but we're talking about his batting
[00:31:37] yeah it's totally Indian parent behavior like my class cricket is okay did you see his mom's
[00:31:44] Dori Sandhwada what is mom said he's not improved over 100 test match because you had the same
[00:31:49] figures of 9 for 128 in his first test and his last test yeah pretty funny but also I mean
[00:31:55] that bad bowling is also pretty solid you've got to like to trend bold avish Khan
[00:32:01] you see I think it was the purple cap holder last year Sandeep Sharma Adam Zampa proceed actually

[00:33:12] you would have really helped them if it had come in previously um so I think looking pretty good
[00:33:18] we'll rely heavily on the likes of Jaisu and Jaisu and Sanju and all of those guys
[00:33:27] the X factor which I guess we are saying is the person who's not played IPL before is it's going
[00:33:31] under burger he did pretty well in that South African test series so for me he left arm angle they
[00:33:38] tend to do pretty well bold may not play all the games depending on how bold's form go is a pretty good
[00:33:44] replacement I don't think he'll start but bold would probably start and then at some stage they're
[00:33:48] unleashed burgers got good pace and bounce yeah well said actually I didn't I was thinking through my
[00:33:53] top four and I just Sanju you have to give extra credit to Jaisu and the run he's been on but when
[00:33:59] you start looking at that and the fact that yes India bit feed in England but butlers you do
[00:34:03] never write butler off as a t24s there that looks pretty pretty solid all right Varun we're making
[00:34:10] good progress keep going up the top three teams from last year so let's I don't I don't know how to
[00:34:15] think about the like the side on paper they're always confusing to me is it not I'm curious I

[00:35:22] Langer is the new coach of the L.S.G team I think I thought he was a pretty good coach to navigate
[00:35:32] them through from that San Papagate period right I think somebody like him helped study the ship
[00:35:40] but I'm clearly wrong because every single player in that dressing room wanted him out and so
[00:35:45] what you saw on like Amazon Prime's the test yeah the question I actually have is how many times have
[00:35:50] you watched the test I think I can count maybe three times you see I mean I've watched the
[00:35:54] headingly episode of Ben Stokes and Justin Langer kicking the dustbin at least 18-19 times yeah

[00:36:25] solid keepers all first playing 11 guys and then you've got a whole bunch of all-roaders
[00:36:31] starting with Kruinal Pandya and Marcus Toynes and Deepakura and so that's how I kind of see this team
[00:36:39] now I have to give them credit they have been in the playoffs in both the years that they are in
[00:36:45] so they have 100% record of making it to the playoffs so credit where it's due I think they have
[00:36:52] picked up a couple of good people in Dave Dave D right there's that particle he's coming back
[00:36:58] and he's going to open the innings because the big news for LSG is that Kierrahul has put his hand
[00:37:04] up and said he wants to bat middle order now is that number four is that number five we're not sure
[00:37:09] we've talked about it before I think it's a fantastic move on his behalf Kierrahul the middle order
[00:37:15] batsman is I think somebody who Indian needs Kierrahul the opening batsman is somebody who India should
[00:37:20] forget about and so he has taken that step he is decapped in off the team he historically has not
[00:37:28] been great at finishing games and I think that has become a big issue with him over the last six seven
[00:37:33] years where he's been highest runs Corer with no wins and so I think it's a great practice kind of
[00:37:40] run for him to see can he play this role he doesn't in ODIA but remember ODIA is different right
[00:37:46] so I'm looking forward to that Dave D makes his way back to the top I think the the bowling needs
[00:37:53] a little bit more work now they picked off Shamar Joseph and go out of story that is right like I
[00:37:57] mean everyone was just really really excited for him when he kind of got picked up after that
[00:38:03] dream spell but their rest of the bowling doesn't leave in my opinion too much to be desired right
[00:38:11] Mohsin Khan had a good season Ravi Bishna I think is a is a class bowler needs a little bit of work
[00:38:17] because when he gets hit he starts getting hit right it's like a momentum game for him you've got
[00:38:22] Yash Thakur Navinul Huck and that's it so you're gonna have to be counting on Khrunal
[00:38:30] Marcus Toynes Deepak Huda Kyle Mayers who remember last year had a pretty good tournament
[00:38:36] and so I think they're all rounders are the ones who are gonna have to carry them a little bit
[00:38:40] because their bowling doesn't look that strong to me have you seen Khrunal Pandey as new haircut
[00:38:45] is a real question I mean that's the last question I was expecting I was getting a little bit nervous
[00:38:52] and it would ask me about the extent is the unguided close the under 19 year you were focused on it
[00:38:59] and actually I wouldn't probably know what it's like I just had a busy day to be
[00:39:04] I would encourage you to go look at them what should I do I think just I think

[00:42:08] season and was out but I think that's really important for me because I think Gil as he steps up into
[00:42:14] being a leader will have to will need the support and Kane is an unbelievably experienced captain
[00:42:20] a couple big new buys you know so as you looked on the list they had Shah Rakan who you know can he
[00:42:25] replace Haridik exactly kind of in that finisher type of role now Haridik didn't play the finisher
[00:42:30] role he played three last year but Shah Rakan is a good acquisition Mohammed Shammi is the big big miss
[00:42:38] 28 wickets and so this was probably a bad team for you to decide to be DJ because I'm not actually
[00:42:43] all that worried because their big acquisition for me this year was Umesh Yada who I think is
[00:42:50] going to slot in and replace Mohammed Shammi like for like and have a phenomenal season and so for me
[00:42:55] good job thanks really looks good I'm gonna let go tag me how you think that is a fake string phase
[00:43:00] I'm gonna let go tag me but I am actually excited for a match to play for good job have you seen
[00:43:04] the match this time I'm not I'm not sure and this one I don't know what's real or not anymore um

[00:43:17] was Rashid Khan under the kind of cloud of injury he hasn't played a game since November he withdrew
[00:43:21] from the PSF but as of yesterday it's been announced that he's back for the Ireland T20s
[00:43:26] and so I think that's gonna be huge for them so obviously really quick on Gujarat strength
[00:43:30] this is spent right no and and Rashid Khan I do think they have a solid batting lineup strangely
[00:43:38] enough for me their weakness is kind of the upper middle order the top of that middle order
[00:43:44] and the big one for me who I'm you know unfortunately going to be critical about his Rhythman
[00:43:49] Sa'ah he's gonna probably come in play a few matches and then you know not too so great and fall
[00:43:56] off the radar but then you have Vijay Shankar Matthew Wade and it just it doesn't inspire a lot
[00:44:00] of confidence now if they choose to play Gil Williamson size to the ocean Robin Minnes who I haven't
[00:44:06] seen a lot of but I know Dhoni really ranks highly which obviously carries a lot of weight and
[00:44:12] you know then they and then obviously Tevatir later in the order then they have some options
[00:44:16] my uncapped X factors then they brought in Azmatullah Omar Zaih the Afghan 23 year old who
[00:44:26] he bats he swings the new ball I think he could be an all-round option if he can find his way
[00:44:31] into the 11 and then they also brought in Spencer Johnson who honestly I had to look up a little bit
[00:44:35] about prior to the last few months but in the last few months I mean he ended up getting 10
[00:44:38] corrobores he's 28 years old he's 6'4 he balls 140 yeah he's lefty and that's the point
[00:44:44] D.J I think you made lefty standard well lefty quick standard do well in the IPL so I think he's
[00:44:49] gonna show up strong so overall if Gil can slot in to the skipper role well and they can replace
[00:44:55] the hardic Pandya and Shami size Void I think they have a good side good side but it's going to be
[00:45:00] tricky all right D.J. would down to our last two we'll do the last one all together
[00:45:05] so I haven't actually prepped that one but you are on the hook for the second last team and that is
[00:45:10] the Chennai Super Kings take us away yeah so led by a 42 year old MS Thoney five time champion
[00:45:20] made playoffs 12 out of the 14 times that they've played of course they were banned for those two
[00:45:26] years I mean what my notes actually just say all-rounder's baby which is well I think sums up the
[00:45:34] thing they've got Moe in Dupe Jardu Mitchell Rachand Santana Chaiher and your favorite player Sharkar

[00:46:24] going to be a factor yeah and they are missing Devon Conway pretty big miss but that said
[00:46:33] they had a really good auction they picked up Rachand Ravindra at the auction and they got Daryl
[00:46:38] Mitchell at the auction and I mean Ravindra it's just going to slot in right on top instead of
[00:46:44] Conway to me those are the two picks of the auction I mean I was going crazy thinking who's
[00:46:49] going to get these guys which how the teams want to divide it and then at the end of the auction
