[00:00:00] Six different directors, six different stories, but all held together by the same fragile thread, the delicate topic of mental health and how it must be addressed.

[00:00:09] Applause Entertainment puts together a series of sensitive topics that we normally tend to sweep under a rug.

[00:00:15] The powerhouse production company from the house of Bidla shoves the rug aside and forces us to see through today's new normal vision of sensitivity and Medicare.

[00:00:23] With well-known artists and craftsmen at the helm, Zindaginama is a good attempt to start conversations about mental health issues.

[00:00:31] Hi, I'm Umar Qureshi, your filmy therapist guiding you on Showbox, available on YouTube, Spotify and all leading audio channels.

[00:00:39] You can also seek me on Instagram, on OQspot and on Showbox. So let's start this session of review.

[00:00:45] As a creator of the concept, Nirja Bidla had a vision for Zindaginama to be a conversation starter if nothing else.

[00:00:52] For people to discuss, be aware of mental health and all the trappings that go with it.

[00:00:57] Even referring to families of those affected who suffer as much if not more than the patient.

[00:01:02] It may open a door to introduce affectations of the mind into therapy sessions and a road to recovery.

[00:01:08] This is achieved by using a stable of superb directorial talent like Aditya Sarpudar, Mitakshara Kumar,

[00:01:14] Sukriti Tyagi, Danny Mamik, Rakish Handilya and Sahan.

[00:01:18] They've all picked separate issues and directed separate episodes.

[00:01:22] So there is Bhavar, about a woman's fear of intimacy and how lesser literate family around deal with it.

[00:01:28] Also what it can lead to. Touching upon a panic attack that can be caused by the male gaze.

[00:01:34] 1 plus 1 is about anorexia and eating disorder caused by societal pressures

[00:01:39] and peer pressure about weight being synonymous with good looks.

[00:01:42] 2 Swagatam is about paranoid schizophrenia and imaginary fears that can almost kill you.

[00:01:48] Also the insensitivity of people around in dealing with a genuinely split mind.

[00:01:52] 3 Purple Dunia is about a new age disorder that goes largely unnoticed today.

[00:01:57] An addiction to gaming because the affected thinks the world is too straightjacketed and he or she can

[00:02:03] only win in the virtual world.

[00:02:05] 4 Gaged is about gender identity and the distress it causes.

[00:02:08] 5 The Daily Papacho is about anxiety and overwhelming emotions that can trigger panic attacks and how

[00:02:15] kindness and understanding can help the afflicted.

[00:02:18] Zindagi Nama has an ensemble cast across anthologies.

[00:02:21] In Swagatam, Shriyas Talpade and Anjali Patal.

[00:02:25] In Caged, Sumit Vyas and Muhammad.

[00:02:27] In Bhavar, Shweta Basu Prasad and Priya Bapal.

[00:02:31] In the Daily Papacho, Shivani Raghuvanchi and Sayandeep Sen Gupta.

[00:02:35] In 1 Plus 1, Prajakta Kohli, Yashavini Dayamma and Lileth Dube.

[00:02:39] In Purple Dunia, Tanmay Dhananya, Shruti Seth and Urmila Kothare.

[00:02:44] Just a few names that flit across the screen in this serious look at mental health using the

[00:02:49] age-old tool of cinematic storytelling.

[00:02:52] While it's a very important topic of our times, Zindagi Nama may at the very least scratch

[00:02:56] the surface of the masks we live under.

[00:02:58] Hiding, biding, fearful because of peer pressure.

[00:03:02] All stories have their own ups and downs and dealt with differently.

[00:03:06] Some deep, some lacking depth.

[00:03:08] But the point is made.

[00:03:09] Still full marks to Samir Nair and his team to start this conversation.

[00:03:13] Because this is such an important topic and because each mental health issue is so real

[00:03:18] and so paramount, to evaluate each separately would be unfair.

[00:03:22] To rate a show like this would be unfair too.

[00:03:24] I just advise, watch it with someone you love and don't forget to cuddle.

[00:03:28] That's the real Zindagi Nama.
