गेल्या काही वर्षांत ह्या देशाच्या आर्थिक चिंतनात एक अंधश्रद्धा तयार झाली आहे. ती म्हणजे वेगवान आर्थिक वाढ हे एकच उद्दिष्ट गाठले की दारिद्र्याचा प्रश्न आपोआपच सुटतो. याला खरे तर फार पुरावा नाही. वास्तविक महाराष्ट्राला आर्थिक वाढीबरोबरच दारिद्र्य निर्मूलनाचा, विषमतेचा विचार स्वतंत्रपणे करावा लागेल.
