[00:00:07] Hello everyone, this is Seema from Saamya Essential Oils and through this podcast, Saamya Shots, we hope to bring to you unique stories, some personal, some that you may have read or even heard of before. But through each of these stories, we'll try and tell you how magical
[00:00:24] essential oils can be. You can listen to us on Apple Podcasts, GeoSavvan, Spotify, Binge Ports and all major audio platforms. What does being true to yourself really mean to you? What does it really mean to show up authentically in any given now situation?
[00:00:42] Now if you ask me, I'd say it means leading with my heart, my gut and with empathy. It means being true to who you are even if everyone around you wants you to be someone else. If
[00:00:58] we don't know who we are and what our strengths and weaknesses are and what we really stand for, we will never be able to develop vulnerability and we will never be able to establish a trusting relationship with anyone. Authenticity means taking a risk
[00:01:14] to show others our true selves. It's uncomfortable and may make you feel vulnerable but it always carries with it the very human fear of not fitting in. But the greater risk is being inauthentic.
[00:01:29] If we want others to see who we really are, we need to have the courage to show them who we truly are. So let me share this story. The school annual function practice was over
[00:01:44] and I was waiting with a few of my classmates near the school gate because our parents were supposed to come and pick us up from there. Now I slowly started walking towards
[00:01:54] the rear gate of the school and I told my friends I had some place else to be. The truth is I had asked my parents to wait there because I was embarrassed to be seen
[00:02:06] getting into a scooty with a side car. Those days we did not have a fancy car, in fact we didn't even own a car. My father had a scooter which had a side car attached to
[00:02:17] it and I was embarrassed to be seen in it. I was a teenager trying to desperately fit in and I didn't want to be seen in that vehicle. My parents never questioned me, they probably knew
[00:02:28] what was going on but they decided never to mention it to me and they let me be. If you asked me today I would do anything to sit in that side car but my 14 year old self was too embarrassed to know
[00:02:41] who I was. Well let me tell you one thing whenever I tell this story to anyone it amazes me how people immediately respond with their own stories. They open up and start telling me similar stories about their lives. We all have our backgrounds and experiences and that becomes
[00:03:01] a legacy we carry forward in our journey, in life. The more we open up and share the more authentic we become and the more people can relate to us. Another story is about Winston Churchill
[00:03:14] was when he went to meet a flight sergeant being honoured for bravery during World War II. The sergeant had the courage to climb onto the wing of his bomber plane at 13,000 feet to extinguish a fire in the starboard engine but meeting Churchill in person scared this officer
[00:03:33] and he was tongue-tied. Churchill noticed and said you must feel very humble and awkward in my presence. The flight sergeant agreed and said yes I am and Churchill then said then you can
[00:03:45] imagine how humble and awkward I feel in yours. Being authentic is the only way to bridge barriers be it physical, be it emotional or be it a social one. People always open up to people who show up
[00:04:01] in a real manner and who are open. Now to help you always be authentic and have the guts to lead with your heart we recommend a blend of lemon, peppermint and rosemary. We'll be more than happy
[00:04:13] to curate this blend for you. You can write to us on our email samyafregsasatgmail.com you can follow us on Instagram at samyeessentialoils. Add a few drops of this to your diffuser, you can add a few drops to your char gels, to your baths, to your lotions
[00:04:29] and let the magic of these essential oils work on you. Until the next Samya shot, love and light everyone. Stay calm, breathe easy, laugh more and love with all of your heart.
