In this episode of Luxe Insider, Anita talks about her favourite discoveries from Geneva Watch Days 2024. From more than 100 watches from 52 brands, she speaks about a select few that caught her attention!
[00:00:04] Hello everyone and welcome to a new episode of Luxe Insider with Anita Khatri. I am your
[00:00:11] host, Anita Khatri and today I am going to dive into Geneva Watch Days 2024 which has
[00:00:18] now become one of the most anticipated events on the watchmaking calendar. From August 29
[00:00:25] to September 2, Geneva once again transformed into a watch lovers' paradise. Imagine the
[00:00:33] jet-o sparkling under the summer sun and watch enthusiasts from around the world
[00:00:40] gathering to celebrate the artistry of time. Geneva Watch Days may have started
[00:00:46] in 2020 but it has quickly become an integral part of the horology scene.
[00:00:53] Thanks to the pioneering spirit of six founding brands,
[00:00:58] Brightling, Bulgari, Debaton, Jarat Perego, H. Moser and NBNF.
[00:01:06] The beauty of Geneva Watch Days lies in its decentralized format. Rather than sticking
[00:01:13] to one massive exhibition hall, each participating brand hosts its own show spread across luxurious
[00:01:22] boutiques and elegant hotels throughout the city. There, more than 100 watches from 52
[00:01:29] brands were on display making it an absolute treat for anyone with a passion for fine
[00:01:36] time pieces. What sets Geneva Watch Days apart from other exhibitions in its relaxed
[00:01:44] atmosphere? It's festive, elegant and inclusive.
[00:01:51] Now let's go straight talk about the standout pieces from this year's event. There were quite a
[00:01:58] few that caught my attention even though I had to admire them from afar. First up,
[00:02:05] Brightling celebrating 140 years of first, they introduced a limited series of their iconic
[00:02:12] models like the Premier, Nevitimer and ChronoMath powered by their new Calibre B19 perpetual calendar
[00:02:20] chronograph movement. This movement offers unmatched precision with minimal adjustments
[00:02:26] for an entire century. And with a 96 hour power reserve, it's a real powerhouse lasting
[00:02:35] four days without needing a single wine. Next, Fabre Luba, marked 287 years of horological
[00:02:43] mass strain. They debuted three new collections with 22 fresh designs. The chief collection
[00:02:51] in particular stood out for me especially the chief chronograph. It strikes the perfect
[00:02:57] balance between its vintage 70s roots and a modern sporty look highlighted by a cushion-shaped
[00:03:04] case. It's one of those designs you can't help but fall in love instantly.
[00:03:11] Bulgari, known for its expertise in acoustics, wowed the crowd with the Octoroma Grand Sonnery
[00:03:19] Turbion and Octoroma Carillon Turbion Minitipita. These stunning pieces took inspiration
[00:03:27] from the musical world, growing creative cues from Lorenzo Vaiti, the conductor of the Neen
[00:03:34] Philharmonic Orchestra. Now, one of my personal favorite brands, Constantin
[00:03:42] Chicken, made headlines with his latest creation, The Thinking. At just 1.6 mm thick, it's the
[00:03:51] slimmest mechanical wristwatch ever made. Part of his quirky and creative wristmonds collection,
[00:03:59] this joker-inspired timepiece has eyes to indicate the hours and minutes. It's always
[00:04:06] fascinating to see Chekin push the boundaries of both design and engineering. And speaking
[00:04:12] of innovation, HYT introduced bold new colors to their mill sign edition, purple, green and chocolate.
[00:04:21] The fluidic time display of the T1 series paired with vibrant colors added a contemporary
[00:04:27] edge to their 45mm timepieces, making a real statement.
[00:04:34] Moving on, Jacob & Co's oil pump timepiece has something due to offer this year.
[00:04:42] Known for their bold designs, Jacob & Co has taken the traditional automotor
[00:04:47] and given it a modern twist. This 44mm watch is like a mini work of art. It's not just
[00:04:55] a watch, it's a 3D animated scene of an oil well combined with precision watchmaking.
[00:05:04] It's a perfect blend of engineering and creativity coming together in one timepiece.
[00:05:09] Next up is FEDERIC Constant, a classic tourbillon manufacturer. A limited edition piece
[00:05:15] with only 36 pieces available. It comes in a sleek 39mm white gold case. Its stunning
[00:05:23] Aventuring dial is inspired by the night sky that makes it feel like you're wearing a piece of the
[00:05:29] cosmos. Plus, it features the brand's iconic heartbeat window at 6 o'clock. This watch combines
[00:05:36] poetic beauty with top-tier mechanics. It's destined to be a standout in FEDERIC Constant's collection.
[00:05:45] Then we have Angelus with the Acronodate Titanium Magnetic Silver edition.
[00:05:51] A monochromatic beauty in titanium and a sun-lit brush dial. Its ultra sporty design in shades of
[00:06:00] grey, black and red is a true work of art. Another brand that stood out was the Baton
[00:06:08] with their DB28 excess aero light which blended elements of art and science.
[00:06:14] The watch featured dial crafted from Muno Nalista Mitroid, a unique fusion of earth and sky,
[00:06:24] captured in an extraordinary 38.7mm black matte zirconium case.
[00:06:32] MB&F didn't disappoint either with their sleek new MAD 1S. It's a thinner evolution
[00:06:41] of the original MAD 1 featuring refined lugs and a slimmer profile. I love how MB&F always bring
[00:06:50] something new and exciting to the table while still honoring the essence of their designs.
[00:06:57] Lastly, I want to mention Chapak who took their Antarctic collection to new heights with
[00:07:04] Antarctic polar sky models. These timepieces feature stunning avengerin glass dials and
[00:07:12] for those seeking a bit more luxury, diamond encrusted cases and bracelets.
[00:07:19] Limited to just a handful of pieces, these watches are sure to disappear quickly into
[00:07:26] private collections. As Geneva Watchtaste 2024 wrapped up, it was clear that this event wasn't
[00:07:35] just about showcasing beautiful timepieces. It was a celebration of passion, creativity and craft
[00:07:42] mention. While I wasn't able to experience the event in person this year, I am still in awe
[00:07:49] of the incredible innovations that came out of it. And many of you, I am already looking forward to
[00:07:56] what next year will bring. For now, though I hope you enjoyed this virtual tour of Geneva Watchtaste
[00:08:03] and maybe even found a new favorite watch to add to your collection.
