[00:00:00] Namaskar, Welcome to another episode of Editorial. The Department of Justice of United States said that Adani Group has paid bribe to Indian officials.
[00:00:16] The United States Securities and Exchange Commission said that Gautam Adani personally has paid bribe to the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Jagan Mohan Reddy, and they said that he paid a bribe of 200 million.
[00:00:39] Today, Adani Group lawyers, they said that this is not all. All this is fake and Gautam Adani faces no bribe charges according to their lawyers.
[00:00:55] What is this story? Let us understand. Let's get right into the show.
[00:01:04] Now, Adani's lawyers, that is Mukul Rohadgi and Mahesh Jethmalani both said that there is no bribe charges either against Gautam Adani or his nephew.
[00:01:16] No bribe charges whatsoever. In fact, what Mukul Rohadgi said is, I have gone through the indictment by the US Court.
[00:01:25] My assessment is that there are 5 charges or 5 counts. It is important to note that count 1 and 5 are more important than others.
[00:01:37] But neither in count 1 nor in count 5 is Mr. Adani or his nephew charged.
[00:01:47] This is what Mukul Rohadgi said. Very clearly, self-explanatory. I don't need to explain this.
[00:01:53] He went on to say that such vague allegations make it impossible to respond meaningfully.
[00:02:01] He said, what is the Department of Justice of the United States? It is vague. I can't even respond to it meaningfully.
[00:02:09] He said, I am not a spokesperson for Adani group. I am the lawyer and have been appearing for Adani group in several cases.
[00:02:18] Now, Mr. Mahesh Jethmalani also did his part. He also had a statement to make and he said that this is clearly a political tool.
[00:02:29] Having suffered a setback in Maharashtra election, the Congress and India Alliance are using this to divert attention.
[00:02:39] They constantly focus on foreign linked issues like Adani and Manipur which is against the country's interest.
[00:02:47] He went on to say that the Department of Justice is acting with unseemly haste. The indictment appears rushed and lacks substance.
[00:02:58] This was marking of a political hatched job. Mukul Rohadgi says that Baba, there is no basis to the allegations.
[00:03:11] Absolutely no basis. I don't even know what to respond to the allegations. He says Mukul Rohadgi.
[00:03:17] Achha, Mahesh Jethmalani said all Congress. Congress, you know, they lost election, no?
[00:03:21] So, this is all because they want to divert the attention. They want to, you know, the loss that they suffered in Maharashtra. All this is to divert attention.
[00:03:29] And even the Department of Justice of United States, there is some political reason why they have done all this.
[00:03:39] So, this is what Mahesh Jethmalani says. Okay, this is their lawyers. Okay. Let us go further.
[00:03:46] Now, what has happened is the Rajya Sabha got adjunned till Thursday. And even Lok Sabha is adjunned.
[00:03:52] When the article was, our article came up, it was adjunned till noon. Now, even the Lok Sabha is adjunned.
[00:03:59] Now, let us talk about Rahul Gandhi had to say. Rahul Gandhi, when asked about Adani and his indictment and all of that, Rahul Gandhi said,
[00:04:11] you think Adani is going to accept the charges? Obviously, he is going to deny the charges. The point is, he has to be arrested as we have said.
[00:04:21] Hundreds of people have been arrested on tiny charges. And the gentleman has been indicted in United States for thousands of crores.
[00:04:30] He should be in jail and the government is protecting him. This is what Rahul Gandhi says. Okay.
[00:04:35] So, I have taken you through what the Department of Justice said. I have taken you through what the Securities and Exchange Commission of United States said.
[00:04:50] I have taken you through what the lawyers of Adani said. And I have also taken you through what Mahesh Jethmalani, who is also a lawyer of Adani said.
[00:05:02] And I have taken you through what Rahul Gandhi said. Now, let us understand this issue a little more broadly.
[00:05:09] Or I would say, let us try and analyze this story. Okay. We heard everybody, everybody we heard very, very well.
[00:05:17] We understood what each of the people had to say, including Mahesh Jethmalani, who said it is all because of Congress loss that, you know, all this happened.
[00:05:25] Congress lost, no? So all this happened. This Mahesh Jethmalani said this. Okay.
[00:05:30] So we listened to all of that. So good. Okay. Now, the first question. The first question.
[00:05:39] You see, an indictment happened in United States, where United States incidentally said that Gautam Adani group has bribed Indian officials.
[00:05:51] Where, like I told you, the commission says that it is Gautam Adani who individually bribed Jagan Reddi.
[00:06:00] All this happened. But isn't it strange that there is no investigation in India? No ED inquiry, nothing. Nobody is talking about it.
[00:06:10] Everything is okay. You see, I am asking a very simple question. You see, in life, if you simplify things, you understand things better.
[00:06:21] You see, the neighbor came and tell you that, listen, your son broke my windowpane. Your son broke my windowpane while he was playing cricket.
[00:06:32] Isn't it basic courtesy that the parents call the child and say, you broke the child and said, you broke the neighbor's windowpane?
[00:06:43] That is what you call investigation. Isn't that basic? Is that too much to expect from a country?
[00:06:52] A parent, if he doesn't ask his own child, you broke the windowpane. If the parent doesn't ask, what does that mean?
[00:07:03] What does that mean? Wouldn't it mean that the parent is okay? It's actually endorsing, it's actually promoting the child to go and break the windowpane?
[00:07:12] Number one. Number two, I'm oversimplifying the case. I'm oversimplifying the case because let us understand it from a human angle first, then we will talk about legal, fecal and all that.
[00:07:24] Number two is, you see, the question is not small. It is about 1500 to 1700 crores of rupees, which United States alleges that one Indian businessman paid another Indian minister.
[00:07:40] Why? So that that Indian minister can buy power at a higher price from this Indian businessman.
[00:07:48] Why a corporation, why a corporation called SECI? Why a corporation called SECI, a government corporation?
[00:07:57] Why a corporation called SECI? Why a corporation called SECI? Why a corporation called SECI? This is the allegation.
[00:08:14] it involves India
[00:08:16] it involves Indians
[00:08:17] it involves Indians money
[00:08:21] end of the day
[00:08:22] it is not Americans who are losing money
[00:08:24] it is Indians who are losing money
[00:08:26] it is people from
[00:08:28] Andhra Pradesh
[00:08:28] those are the people losing money
[00:08:31] aren't we responsible
[00:08:32] so isn't there going to be an inquiry
[00:08:36] that why do you say the money in America?
[00:08:40] like I told you
[00:08:41] the father asking the child
[00:08:44] have you broken their window panes?
[00:08:47] have you done that?
[00:08:48] isn't it simple?
[00:08:49] will our government not ask?
[00:08:51] and if our government is not asking
[00:08:53] why are they not asking?
[00:08:55] why didn't our government ask
[00:08:56] when there was an Hindenburg issue?
[00:08:58] why didn't our government ask
[00:08:59] why did we find everything okay?
[00:09:02] when there was a Madhavi Butch issue
[00:09:04] Madhavi Butch was supposed to be
[00:09:06] in some form directly indirectly
[00:09:08] having some kind of a
[00:09:09] financial relationship with Adani
[00:09:12] nothing happened
[00:09:13] nothing happened to Madhavi Butch
[00:09:16] nothing happened to Adani
[00:09:19] now
[00:09:20] DOJ
[00:09:21] that is Department of Justice
[00:09:22] United States
[00:09:23] Security and Exchange
[00:09:25] Commission of United States
[00:09:27] alleging that Adani has spread
[00:09:28] nothing happening
[00:09:30] and possibly nothing even is happening to Jagandrity also
[00:09:34] everything is okay
[00:09:35] sab changasi
[00:09:37] isn't that a very simple
[00:09:40] logic
[00:09:41] that there is something not right here?
[00:09:45] last point
[00:09:46] last point
[00:09:49] why always
[00:09:52] Adani
[00:09:53] why always
[00:09:54] Adani
[00:09:55] why is Godrej not
[00:09:57] having such issues?
[00:09:59] why is Birla not having such issues?
[00:10:01] why is Bajaj not having such issues?
[00:10:03] why is Mahindra not having such issues?
[00:10:05] now this sounds like a stupid question
[00:10:07] correct
[00:10:07] it sounds like a stupid question
[00:10:08] this is the question
[00:10:09] Adani
[00:10:10] so Bajaj
[00:10:10] sounds like a stupid question
[00:10:13] the point
[00:10:13] I am trying to make
[00:10:15] is
[00:10:15] when you have somebody
[00:10:18] whose name
[00:10:19] figures
[00:10:20] into almost
[00:10:21] every second
[00:10:22] scam
[00:10:23] French petroleum giant
[00:10:25] Total Energies
[00:10:26] halt new investment
[00:10:27] in Adani group
[00:10:29] amid
[00:10:29] US
[00:10:30] indictment
[00:10:31] French
[00:10:32] is now
[00:10:33] cautious
[00:10:34] Sri Lanka
[00:10:36] is reviewing
[00:10:37] Sri Lanka
[00:10:38] downgrades
[00:10:39] Adani projects
[00:10:40] in India
[00:10:41] Sri Lanka
[00:10:42] is now
[00:10:43] cautious
[00:10:44] US agency
[00:10:46] is conducting
[00:10:47] due diligence
[00:10:48] on Adani
[00:10:48] Sri Lanka
[00:10:49] project
[00:10:50] Kenya
[00:10:51] cancels
[00:10:52] more than
[00:10:53] 250 billion
[00:10:55] in deals
[00:10:56] with Adani
[00:10:57] after US
[00:10:58] indictment
[00:10:59] Kenya
[00:11:00] cautious
[00:11:01] Swiss
[00:11:03] authorities
[00:11:03] freezes
[00:11:04] 310 million
[00:11:06] dollars
[00:11:06] in 5-pack
[00:11:07] account
[00:11:08] linked to
[00:11:09] Adani
[00:11:09] says
[00:11:10] reports
[00:11:11] this is
[00:11:12] September
[00:11:13] 13th report
[00:11:13] 2024
[00:11:14] Swiss
[00:11:15] is cautious
[00:11:16] the question
[00:11:18] is why
[00:11:18] is it
[00:11:18] happening
[00:11:19] why
[00:11:20] is it
[00:11:20] happening
[00:11:20] unless
[00:11:21] and until
[00:11:21] one group
[00:11:22] starts
[00:11:22] believing
[00:11:23] that it
[00:11:24] is invincible
[00:11:24] nothing
[00:11:25] will happen
[00:11:25] to it
[00:11:26] nothing
[00:11:27] no government
[00:11:27] no agencies
[00:11:28] no law enforcement
[00:11:30] agencies
[00:11:30] no investigating
[00:11:31] bodies
[00:11:32] no prime minister
[00:11:33] no chief minister
[00:11:35] no home minister
[00:11:36] can touch it
[00:11:37] till such time
[00:11:38] that that group
[00:11:38] has that confidence
[00:11:39] do you think
[00:11:40] this group
[00:11:41] will be figuring
[00:11:42] out in every
[00:11:42] problem
[00:11:43] that is literally
[00:11:44] happening
[00:11:44] everywhere across
[00:11:45] the world
[00:11:46] that has some
[00:11:46] link to India
[00:11:47] or the other
[00:11:48] that is the question
[00:11:50] I ask today
[00:11:51] and that is the
[00:11:52] question I
[00:11:53] leave you with
[00:11:54] tonight
[00:11:55] that said
[00:11:57] everybody is
[00:11:59] innocent till
[00:12:00] they are proven
[00:12:01] guilty
[00:12:01] and I think
[00:12:02] for me
[00:12:03] Adani also
[00:12:04] is innocent
[00:12:05] till proven
[00:12:06] guilty
[00:12:06] we will wait
[00:12:07] and watch
[00:12:08] what happens
[00:12:09] in the rest
[00:12:09] of the world
[00:12:10] but I think
[00:12:11] at least an
[00:12:12] investigation
[00:12:13] is due
[00:12:14] in India
[00:12:14] this is my
[00:12:15] point of view
