[00:00:00] Hello Sunshine, and how has your week been?

[00:00:16] The dictionary meaning of kindness is the quality of being friendly, generous and compassionate.

[00:00:23] And kindness can mean different things to different people.

[00:00:27] The meaning is in how you choose to live it.

[00:00:32] Be it through empathy, acceptance of somebody just the way they are, kind gestures, thoughtfulness

[00:00:39] and the possibilities are entirely up to you.

[00:00:42] Think of the moment when someone did something really kind to you.

[00:00:47] And at that time all you probably wanted to do was pay it forward.

[00:00:51] Obviously you were very grateful.

[00:00:54] But the act of kindness is an infectious one.

[00:00:59] All it needs is one person to start it.

[00:01:02] One small kind act can cause a ripple effect that impacts so many more people.

[00:01:09] And if you're all focused on being kind, we are creating a movement of change.

[00:01:13] You know there's a famous quote that says, be the change you wish to see in the world.

[00:01:21] That quote isn't just about change and it isn't only about one person being able to change

[00:01:25] the world by being kind.

[00:01:28] As of today we have with us, Lavleen who wanted to talk to us about how the world in general

[00:01:33] can be more kind.

[00:01:35] So hi Lavleen and thank you so much for coming on to this show.

[00:01:39] Hello, hi Seema, thank you so much for having me on Hello Sunshine.

[00:01:43] Really what has happened is I've noticed that while people tend to be efficient

[00:01:48] and effective, we sort of forget to be kind.

[00:01:53] With AI proliferating and penetrating every aspect of our life, we have forgotten what

[00:01:59] it's like to talk to an actual human being.

[00:02:02] Currently we live in a society where we're driven by competition, capitalism and hustle

[00:02:09] culture.

[00:02:11] It has become quite easy to lose sight of the power of simple acts of compassion

[00:02:16] and empathy.

[00:02:17] And in fact, well kindness is not only important but it's surprisingly easy to incorporate into

[00:02:24] our daily lives.

[00:02:26] Our interactions today both online and offline in fact are riddled with toxicity and assumptions

[00:02:31] we judge others without really understanding their experiences.

[00:02:35] We engage in behaviors that foster negativity rather than connection.

[00:02:41] But what if we actually challenged these norms and chose kindness instead?

[00:02:46] I truly believe that that's where the beauty of kindness actually shines through.

[00:02:51] Even the smallest gestures or smile or kind word or hey, do you need help today?

[00:02:58] How can I help you?

[00:02:59] Is there anything I can do for you?

[00:03:01] The little phrase is the little questions.

[00:03:04] You can have a profound impact on both the giver and the receiver.

[00:03:09] Thank you, lovely.

[00:03:10] Thank you for sharing this with us.

[00:03:13] Now kindness at the workplace infuses warmth and compassion into these interactions, creating

[00:03:20] a nurturing and supportive environment.

[00:03:24] An acts of kindness usually enhance respect by demonstrating empathy, appreciation and

[00:03:30] considering towards others.

[00:03:33] Remember, kind is love.

[00:03:36] Love is kind.

[00:03:38] Think about what love entails and what it means to love someone.

[00:03:41] Well, now that's kindness.

[00:03:45] It's being selfless, caring, compassionate and unconditionally kind.

[00:03:52] Like love it takes practice of course to understand and feel it.

[00:03:56] We share love with others through kind acts such as a smile, a nice word, an unexpected

[00:04:02] deed, a planned surprise.

[00:04:05] When we offer these kind of things to people, we make them feel good.

[00:04:10] We pass along hope.

[00:04:12] We make them feel more peaceful and that's the power of kindness.

[00:04:17] Kindness is grace.

[00:04:20] In a world filled with struggle and pain, kindness is like a deep cleansing breath that

[00:04:25] rejuvenates us with its purity, refreshes us with its goodness and gives us the strength

[00:04:31] to persevere despite our troubles.

[00:04:35] Like Loveleen was talking about people showing kindness.

[00:04:39] Now, kindness at our workplace begins first with self-care.

[00:04:44] Be kind to yourself first.

[00:04:46] Do your job.

[00:04:48] Start with the basics of showing up on time and doing your job to the best of your ability.

[00:04:53] And this is where your self-care practice comes into play.

[00:04:57] You can't do your best work without first taking care of yourselves.

[00:05:02] Recognize and acknowledge the people that you work with.

[00:05:06] When your team members witness you actively engaging or showing genuine interests in their

[00:05:10] lives and encouraging them to meet their potential, you foster a sense of care and

[00:05:16] empathy that can help them at their workplace, that can help them perform better.

[00:05:23] Offer genuine feedback.

[00:05:27] Smile.

[00:05:28] Say thank you.

[00:05:30] Listen to what they have to say.

[00:05:32] Let them know that they matter.

[00:05:34] If someone's eating lunch alone, offer them your company.

[00:05:40] Offer to help your co-workers out.

[00:05:42] Celebrate a colleague's moment of success.

[00:05:45] And this can be done even when you're not at your workplace.

[00:05:50] Smiling and saying thank you and listening to people around us is the least we can

[00:05:53] do.

[00:05:56] Meet all of the unsung heroes in our lives.

[00:05:58] People who quietly go about doing their work without making a fuss.

[00:06:03] People who do things for you without you ever realizing that it's a huge thing.

[00:06:08] I'll end this episode with a quote from Oprah.

[00:06:12] To extend yourself in kindness to anybody is an extension in kindness in the world.

[00:06:19] So let's spread kindness, everyone.

[00:06:22] Years to each one of us trying to reach out to people and genuinely trying to

[00:06:25] reach out to them.

[00:06:27] Have a great week ahead.

[00:06:29] Take good care of yourselves and we'll speak to you again next week.

[00:06:34] Bye for now.
