Intro: Howling (Sting) - Gunnar Olsen
Outro: Your Intro by Audionautix
[00:00:00] I am pretty sure BWT owners are gonna be dancing for rain gods for the next three races.
[00:00:06] Best Water Technology, that's their name, right?
[00:00:08] Yeah, they'll probably have like some new water pipe that'll induce rains onto the tracks.
[00:00:15] Hey, dude.
[00:00:16] I'm not showing up on the weather maps.
[00:00:20] Why is the track wet?
[00:00:22] Dude, I saw meme where like Alpine doesn't know how to build a fast car, but they definitely
[00:00:28] know how to build a fast boat.
[00:00:30] Yeah, that's what it is.
[00:00:32] That's why BWT, yeah.
[00:00:40] Hello, hello and welcome back to F1 Fanfiction, a show about the Sunday race.
[00:00:47] This one again was a sprint weekend and if you are a seasoned listener of us, you know how
[00:00:55] we feel about that.
[00:00:56] So let's just dive into the usual weekend that we consider as usual with your hosts.
[00:01:02] I am Akash.
[00:01:04] And I'm Sarang.
[00:01:04] And Sarang, before anything else, right?
[00:01:07] A great legend once said, in the rain, all cars are almost equal.
[00:01:13] What do you have to say about that?
[00:01:16] If yesterday was anything, you know, it was just a proof of that statement pretty much.
[00:01:22] Oh man, what was yesterday?
[00:01:25] I'm still, you know, I'm still not recovered from it.
[00:01:28] It's still so fresh in my mind.
[00:01:30] There's so much chaos.
[00:01:31] You know, I'm pretty sure we're going to miss a lot of things today.
[00:01:35] Yeah, man.
[00:01:37] Rain.
[00:01:37] The great equalizer.
[00:01:38] I'm speechless.
[00:01:40] Yeah.
[00:01:40] And I mean, it was predicted right after the Mexican Grand Prix that it's going to rain
[00:01:46] probably through the weekend into Brazil.
[00:01:48] And it did.
[00:01:49] And every session that was out in the rain.
[00:01:53] First of all, we had like the quali and the race squeezed onto the same day, which in itself
[00:01:59] was something bad done on a rainy day.
[00:02:02] Yeah.
[00:02:02] Right.
[00:02:03] And that done on a rainy day when a quali gave us five red flags, bay blades all across
[00:02:12] the track.
[00:02:13] I think as soon as the checkered flags went off, probably except like the winning ones and
[00:02:18] a few other mechanics, probably everyone just went to sleep.
[00:02:22] Yeah.
[00:02:23] You know something?
[00:02:24] As you were introducing today, the podcast, you said we'll start as usual.
[00:02:30] And my mind is like, there's nothing about this race.
[00:02:34] I agree.
[00:02:36] Yeah.
[00:02:36] The showstopper of this weekend was the rain.
[00:02:40] What stood out?
[00:02:41] Man, I think this was the most rain we have seen in recent history, I feel.
[00:02:46] Like literally at one point, it felt like there was like reverse flowing on the track.
[00:02:51] There was.
[00:02:53] They were not F1 cars.
[00:02:54] They were pretty much boats at that point.
[00:02:56] I think there was a copter cam view at some point, which actually showed water flowing
[00:03:01] on like turn three or something.
[00:03:04] Yeah.
[00:03:05] Right.
[00:03:05] And then someone spun and there was a red flag.
[00:03:07] Because I remember the commentator saying they should, they might probably stop this
[00:03:12] or they should probably consider stopping this.
[00:03:14] And then someone spun and I was like, yeah, okay.
[00:03:16] That's how it gets considered.
[00:03:18] There it goes.
[00:03:19] Yeah.
[00:03:19] Yeah.
[00:03:20] Absolute insane, man.
[00:03:21] And it was clear, like even the drivers were rattled, especially all these rookies.
[00:03:25] Like I think Ollie came onto the radio sometime during the race, right?
[00:03:30] I think he said something like, I can't even see mate.
[00:03:33] Talk to the FIA.
[00:03:34] This is really dangerous.
[00:03:35] I'm not trying to die.
[00:03:36] Which is, man, like first of all, he came into the race weekend like as a surprise entry,
[00:03:42] right?
[00:03:42] Yeah.
[00:03:42] Because like K-Mac fell sick or whatever.
[00:03:45] Yeah.
[00:03:45] And maybe he saw the prediction and thought that I don't want to go.
[00:03:50] Yeah.
[00:03:51] God knows.
[00:03:52] But yeah.
[00:03:53] With all the Beyblades there too, you're right.
[00:03:57] The rookies seemed to have sort of struggled all across the Sunday.
[00:04:02] I don't remember hearing a veteran or at least a seasoned driver say something about the rain.
[00:04:09] It was all newer folks.
[00:04:12] And while we are talking about Bearman and the rain, right?
[00:04:15] Like let's also talk about Bearman getting a 10 second penalty for causing a collision with Kulapinto.
[00:04:23] And it is funny, right?
[00:04:26] Like you're right.
[00:04:26] It is funny because he taps him.
[00:04:29] He spun.
[00:04:30] He lost time and took the 10 second penalty.
[00:04:33] And a penalty.
[00:04:36] Absolutely.
[00:04:37] Funny one.
[00:04:37] Although there was this discussion about situations like these should also be considered.
[00:04:43] What do you have to say about it?
[00:04:45] Yeah.
[00:04:45] I mean, I think that's the debate between the fundamental idea about applying penalties,
[00:04:50] about whether you want to apply them based on just the incident itself,
[00:04:56] or do you want to also consider the outcome of the incident somewhat?
[00:05:00] Which I don't know.
[00:05:02] I feel that you should consider the outcome a little because I don't know.
[00:05:07] I mean, I agree.
[00:05:09] Yes, it was a penalty worthy thing.
[00:05:10] But with what happened, he anyways gave himself a penalty anyways.
[00:05:14] Like, just fine.
[00:05:16] I don't know.
[00:05:17] Like either way.
[00:05:18] There you have it.
[00:05:19] So there is a difference in opinions.
[00:05:21] I think like,
[00:05:21] Okay.
[00:05:22] It then starts getting into such a subjective realm.
[00:05:27] And then again, I mean, sure, Behrman and Kolapinto might not think about it right now.
[00:05:32] Yeah.
[00:05:33] But what I'm worried about it, what if Max goes start stopping people?
[00:05:39] Right?
[00:05:40] Start stopping?
[00:05:40] I mean, yeah.
[00:05:43] Right?
[00:05:44] So, yeah, I mean, it's just unfortunate that he spun out.
[00:05:49] But, I mean, it should not be the consequence of things.
[00:05:52] That's true.
[00:05:52] That's true.
[00:05:53] I mean, it's just unfortunate.
[00:05:54] But, you know, I think the crux of the thing is that,
[00:05:57] Yeah, I mean, I kind of do agree.
[00:05:59] It's very difficult if you keep it subjective.
[00:06:02] And even like the, what do you say?
[00:06:04] The stewards keep changing.
[00:06:05] So that subjectiveness will also keep changing.
[00:06:07] So there's no way of really, you know, uniformly applying those rules.
[00:06:12] But at the same time, FIA themselves currently aren't following this rule.
[00:06:18] They are subjective about whether they want to follow this rule or not.
[00:06:22] Yeah.
[00:06:23] And that's the biggest problem.
[00:06:25] And then after all of this, Kolapinto brings out a red flag.
[00:06:29] Yeah, exactly.
[00:06:32] Okay.
[00:06:33] Talking about people spinning out, we have to talk about this.
[00:06:35] I think this was one of my highlights of the race, which was troll spinning out,
[00:06:40] which is still fine.
[00:06:41] You know, I give him the benefit of doubt.
[00:06:43] It can happen.
[00:06:44] Okay.
[00:06:44] The conditions were bad.
[00:06:46] Whatever, he spun out.
[00:06:48] But then the frustrating thing that he does right after.
[00:06:53] Oh, nice choice of word, bro.
[00:06:55] You use frustrating.
[00:06:56] Okay.
[00:06:57] I don't know.
[00:06:57] I'm just putting it nicely.
[00:06:59] That's all.
[00:07:00] I was thinking of what degree I want to express my unhappiness with.
[00:07:04] But I don't know.
[00:07:05] My brain is just unable to process.
[00:07:10] You know, there's so much going on.
[00:07:13] Because prior to that over the weekend, if you remember, there was this press conference
[00:07:18] with Max and Stroll in it.
[00:07:20] And he gets asked, Max gets asked something.
[00:07:23] And he sort of like taunts to the fact.
[00:07:25] I think he gets asked about Perez.
[00:07:27] But he taunts to the fact that, yeah, there are too many other people also talentless or
[00:07:32] sitting here.
[00:07:33] So, let's, I mean, let's not go there.
[00:07:37] And they cut to Stroll.
[00:07:39] I mean, obviously, all of this is just gossipy.
[00:07:41] But like they cut to Stroll.
[00:07:42] And he's got this blank look on his face.
[00:07:45] I think, I think Stroll is a robot out of battery at some point.
[00:07:53] Because he had a dead face, man.
[00:07:56] Like I think something's wrong with his brain.
[00:07:58] Yeah, totally.
[00:07:59] Because he saw the gravel or mud or whatever it was at this point.
[00:08:05] Right.
[00:08:05] And then it was like, that track?
[00:08:07] Me go.
[00:08:10] Seriously.
[00:08:11] There was an escape road right next to him.
[00:08:13] There was everything right next to him.
[00:08:16] And that's where he chooses to go.
[00:08:19] And then he comes onto the radio and says, I'm beached.
[00:08:24] Duh.
[00:08:27] Fucker.
[00:08:28] Dude, I'm pretty sure Papa Stroll would be considering adopting some child after every Sunday.
[00:08:37] Oh, by the way.
[00:08:38] Did you see this clip where as soon as he spun on formation lap, the crowd was chanting Drogovich, Drogovich?
[00:08:47] Oh, yes.
[00:08:48] Yes, I saw that.
[00:08:52] Oh, my God, man.
[00:08:54] How do you do that?
[00:08:55] It's insane, dude.
[00:08:56] It's not even a rookie mistake.
[00:08:58] I mean, I can bet my worst sergeant has better braids than this.
[00:09:05] Yeah, man.
[00:09:06] Totally.
[00:09:07] Totally.
[00:09:07] There's this YouTuber who goes by the name of Rocket Powered Mohawk.
[00:09:12] Okay.
[00:09:13] He wears a mohawk and he has really hot takes on things.
[00:09:19] And his entire persona is very kind of aggressive and kind of making fun of everything and things like that.
[00:09:26] So he really, really brings a down on Lance.
[00:09:29] He calls him a window licker.
[00:09:31] Window licker.
[00:09:32] Yes.
[00:09:33] Yeah.
[00:09:35] And right as he spun, he tweeted about this saying that nuclear levels of window licking have been achieved.
[00:09:44] Dude, we should start talking like this guy, man.
[00:09:47] Oh, fuck.
[00:09:48] I like that straight.
[00:09:51] Oh, since we talk about that, let's also talk about the other incident related to him spinning out.
[00:09:57] Yeah.
[00:09:58] Which was the start procedures.
[00:10:01] Oh, I'll make a reel about like light on F1 and how to understand them and, you know, just in general.
[00:10:09] Yeah.
[00:10:09] So apparently, touching a rear wing is a 50,000 euro fine.
[00:10:15] Swearing is a 10,000 euro fine with some community service.
[00:10:20] Community service.
[00:10:21] So, I mean, the race despite the lap being apported with marshals on the track is just a slap on the wrist in 5,000.
[00:10:27] Yeah, man.
[00:10:28] That's insane.
[00:10:29] It's absolutely insane.
[00:10:31] It's, I don't get it, man.
[00:10:33] Like, first of all, it was pretty obvious that like the lights were not green and it's just a mess.
[00:10:41] So, this to me is also a stroll level.
[00:10:45] I mean, let's use stroll as an adjective going forward.
[00:10:49] But this also is a stroll level mistake.
[00:10:52] Because, dude, you are fucking fighting for a world championship.
[00:10:58] You've got to be there.
[00:11:02] And, I mean, I don't know if he just fucking confused the rest of the grid and they just fall.
[00:11:08] Max.
[00:11:09] Yeah, that's what happened, I think, with others.
[00:11:10] I mean.
[00:11:11] But not Max and a few others who actually shut their cars off.
[00:11:15] Yeah, yeah.
[00:11:16] Like, if you see, there were four or five other cars that didn't start.
[00:11:21] Right.
[00:11:21] But then they had to go because.
[00:11:23] They had to go, yeah.
[00:11:24] Because they had to like, everybody has to start on the same lap number.
[00:11:31] So, what chaotic.
[00:11:34] And it's so weird.
[00:11:35] Like, you know, commentators are also talking about this.
[00:11:38] What must have happened for the drivers behind as well is this fact that they must be confused what to do now that half the grid has gone up ahead.
[00:11:45] They are going to be, of course, on a different lap.
[00:11:48] So, should we go?
[00:11:49] Shouldn't we go?
[00:11:50] Whatever.
[00:11:51] So, yeah.
[00:11:52] It's weird, man.
[00:11:53] Like, all that.
[00:11:54] And just 3,000.
[00:11:56] Fine.
[00:11:56] Wow.
[00:11:57] Wow.
[00:11:57] 3 or 5?
[00:11:59] What?
[00:11:59] Whatever that is, man.
[00:12:00] It's negligible.
[00:12:02] So, you know, it doesn't matter.
[00:12:03] Yeah, it's crazy, man.
[00:12:05] It's crazy.
[00:12:06] Combined with that, what do you have to say about the fact that FIA ruled to bring down the number of laps to 69 because the drivers wouldn't have enough gas?
[00:12:18] Yeah, I mean, they pretty much had to do it, I think, at that point.
[00:12:21] And that's the thing, right?
[00:12:22] That's what I don't understand.
[00:12:24] This was a big enough offense that they had to actually change the number of laps of the race because of that.
[00:12:29] And then still they didn't do anything about it.
[00:12:32] It's like, hey, don't do it.
[00:12:33] Hey!
[00:12:35] Okay, don't do it.
[00:12:37] Okay, okay, okay.
[00:12:42] But I think, like, they shouldn't have reduced the number of laps.
[00:12:47] That would have made strategies even, you know, difficult.
[00:12:52] Like, oh, shit, man.
[00:12:53] And I'll have to do lift and coast even more.
[00:12:57] But then because of that, some people who actually followed the rules get punished.
[00:13:01] Yeah.
[00:13:01] Just because, like, somebody else messed up.
[00:13:05] Let's talk about this.
[00:13:06] Let's talk about this.
[00:13:07] Yeah.
[00:13:07] So, let's bring in this.
[00:13:10] We were going to talk about this a bit later in the episode.
[00:13:13] But let's talk about this given that you've said that statement.
[00:13:16] Lando and Russell were seen cribbing or heard cribbing about the fact that Gasly and Ocon.
[00:13:23] And Max got a free tire change under the red flag.
[00:13:27] And then that also sort of, like, brought out this discussion of should tire changing be allowed under it?
[00:13:34] What's your...
[00:13:35] Everyone has had this discussion a thousand times.
[00:13:37] I don't know.
[00:13:38] We have it, like, let's...
[00:13:40] No, no, still go ahead.
[00:13:42] What's your take on it?
[00:13:44] I mean, I think it's the rule of the land kind of a thing.
[00:13:50] I mean, that's what has been followed.
[00:13:53] It could be changed.
[00:13:55] But, you know, the thing is that it's sketchy.
[00:13:57] Because red flags are, first of all, a very exceptional situation in general.
[00:14:04] There's no way to differentiate between what type of a red flag it is.
[00:14:07] Like, you know, for example, there was this race a couple years ago.
[00:14:12] I remember there was, like, half the grid behind crashed into each other.
[00:14:16] You know, one person messed up.
[00:14:17] And it was basically a chain reaction.
[00:14:19] And most of those cars were just, you know, victims that there was nothing they could do.
[00:14:24] And, you know, so it was red flagged.
[00:14:26] So in times like these, you have to be able to have some provision to let the cars kind of, you know, reset a bit.
[00:14:34] So it's very tricky, I feel like.
[00:14:36] Unless they have, like, a separation of those red flags.
[00:14:39] Like, okay, this is a, you know, grain related thing.
[00:14:42] Okay, here you can't change it.
[00:14:43] If they really, really want to do that, they can do that.
[00:14:46] But yeah, given the current, at least format, I think it's very difficult, I feel.
[00:14:51] Yeah, so I think, yeah, I think, like, it shouldn't be changed because it somehow, somewhere plays into the strategy of the game as well.
[00:15:02] Right?
[00:15:03] Like, time and again, Saudi or Monaco or somewhere or the other, we've seen people and teams use it as a strategy.
[00:15:13] Like, hey, this is a high red flag track.
[00:15:16] We, you know, go probably a bit long, especially the folks that are out of top five trying to make it into the five.
[00:15:23] You know, stay out a bit more longer.
[00:15:25] And then if it's a red flag, we're going to come in and, you know, do whatever it needs.
[00:15:29] Or a safety car, to that matter as well.
[00:15:31] I mean, I don't think they bank on red flags as much as safety cars.
[00:15:34] But the fact that they take that risk to stay out a bit longer.
[00:15:40] And on the flip side as well, a red flags are, as you said, really super exceptional situations, which is under nobody's control.
[00:15:49] So, I think it is what it is.
[00:15:52] It is what it is.
[00:15:53] It can be changed.
[00:15:56] I mean, Haas, look at Haas.
[00:15:58] They changed.
[00:15:59] They changed every, I mean, they changed their front wing.
[00:16:02] They changed something on the side.
[00:16:05] They changed the tires.
[00:16:07] So.
[00:16:08] That's true.
[00:16:10] Yeah, yeah.
[00:16:11] That's true.
[00:16:13] Yeah, and maybe they can also, like, limit the number of changes that you can do, you know.
[00:16:18] I don't know.
[00:16:18] Yeah.
[00:16:19] Whatever.
[00:16:20] Yeah.
[00:16:20] But talking about that free pit stop that a few folks got.
[00:16:25] That changed the whole game.
[00:16:28] Oh, yeah.
[00:16:28] Oh, we've got the old Max back.
[00:16:31] Wow.
[00:16:32] Yeah, man.
[00:16:33] I think this was more than just a good race for him.
[00:16:35] It was like a drive of his career pretty much.
[00:16:38] Yeah, yeah.
[00:16:38] Like one of the great drives that he has had.
[00:16:41] For sure.
[00:16:42] I think starting P17, there was no hope.
[00:16:46] Yeah.
[00:16:46] Very honestly.
[00:16:47] I felt like, yeah, he'll be in points for sure.
[00:16:49] Like that's a given.
[00:16:51] P6, I guess that's what I had thought where he would end up.
[00:16:55] Where, by the way, his rival ended up.
[00:17:00] But driving that car into P1 was insane.
[00:17:03] And, you know, whatever.
[00:17:04] Okay, I completely agree.
[00:17:06] Red flag, blah, blah, blah, all that.
[00:17:07] But he still did overtake 11 cars on the track.
[00:17:10] So, you know, it's not like he didn't do anything.
[00:17:13] Yeah.
[00:17:14] 10 on the first two laps itself.
[00:17:17] Yeah, exactly.
[00:17:18] Dude.
[00:17:19] Oh, dude.
[00:17:20] Everyone lost it.
[00:17:21] That overtake.
[00:17:22] Dude.
[00:17:22] That four car overtake.
[00:17:24] What the fuck was that?
[00:17:25] Turn three on the outside.
[00:17:27] Four.
[00:17:29] That's why he's a champion, dude.
[00:17:31] Exactly.
[00:17:31] Yeah.
[00:17:32] I can only imagine like Hamilton.
[00:17:34] We diss on this.
[00:17:35] Definitely.
[00:17:36] Because they keep winning and we don't like it.
[00:17:38] But Max, Hamilton, Vettel, Raikkonen.
[00:17:42] Yeah.
[00:17:42] They're the only people in the recent-ish era that I can remember doing this.
[00:17:49] Who even have the guts of doing it, man?
[00:17:51] Think about it.
[00:17:52] I mean, it's insane.
[00:17:54] First of all, for most of these tracks, whenever it's raining, kind of people drive the same
[00:18:00] line to, you know, drive the track and the water gets pushed off on to the off the racing
[00:18:05] line.
[00:18:06] So, first of all, whenever you're going off the racing line, you are losing so much grip
[00:18:11] and like still sticking the car to the track and like overtaking four guys at the same
[00:18:15] time.
[00:18:17] Yeah, man.
[00:18:17] Hats off.
[00:18:19] That and then, I mean, there's just so much about Max this weekend.
[00:18:24] That and I think like he just owned Turn 1.
[00:18:27] I think like Turn 1 was like his G-spot at this point where he just kept hitting it again
[00:18:33] and again.
[00:18:35] Yeah, dude.
[00:18:38] Oh, damn.
[00:18:40] Insane.
[00:18:40] How many overtakes did he do this?
[00:18:42] Especially that Piastri overtake.
[00:18:45] That was just insane, man.
[00:18:46] Like, nobody saw it coming.
[00:18:49] Nobody saw it coming.
[00:18:51] Piastri was like, wait, what the hell just happened?
[00:18:56] You know, as Max approached Piastri, I thought that, okay, you know, this might be a good
[00:19:00] battle because he'll try his best to try and, you know, stop him.
[00:19:04] But there was nothing he could have done.
[00:19:06] Absolutely nothing he could have done there.
[00:19:08] And he was nowhere there.
[00:19:10] He was like way behind.
[00:19:11] Dude, wet track.
[00:19:13] Late breaking on a wet track and taking.
[00:19:17] Exactly, man.
[00:19:18] There you have it, dude.
[00:19:19] Like, rookie versus a champion.
[00:19:21] Yeah.
[00:19:22] A champion.
[00:19:23] We say that.
[00:19:24] We say that.
[00:19:25] And then now let's twist Lando's words a bit and obviously do what we do best.
[00:19:32] Lando says it's all luck and no talent.
[00:19:35] That guy spun off twice on both the restarts in turn one.
[00:19:42] Yeah.
[00:19:44] Yeah.
[00:19:45] Sure, red flag was one thing that took things away from him.
[00:19:49] But he took that race away from him after that.
[00:19:53] We'll get there.
[00:19:54] We'll get there.
[00:19:55] Let me finish, you know, glazing Max a little because I totally feel he deserves the trace
[00:20:02] this race for sure.
[00:20:04] It was, you know, the most insane thing to me was not just that, you know, he overtook
[00:20:11] everybody, everything.
[00:20:12] He got the lead of the race as well after the secondary start.
[00:20:15] But then building that 19.5 second gap was, it was personal, dude.
[00:20:23] It was personal.
[00:20:25] And there's this radio between him and GP as well.
[00:20:29] And GP's been asking him to calm the fuck down.
[00:20:33] And I think on the penalty metal app or somewhere, Max goes, yeah, I think this is enough.
[00:20:40] I'm going to.
[00:20:44] GP also said something like, slow down, slow down for a while, man.
[00:20:52] You're making me nervous.
[00:20:53] You know what?
[00:20:54] There was this point in the race where Leclerc was, I think, P2 or P3 and Charles was chasing
[00:21:03] him down.
[00:21:04] Yeah.
[00:21:05] This is when, like, I think Lando and Russell were still leading.
[00:21:08] Dude, that, he tried it so many times and even called it out in the cool down room.
[00:21:15] Like, I was stuck there for a while because Leclerc was really decent.
[00:21:22] Called him decent, not even good.
[00:21:23] Really decent, yeah.
[00:21:25] And to me, in my head, it was actually like National Geographic playing with a cheetah following
[00:21:34] a gazelle.
[00:21:35] The gazelle trying to outrun the cheetah with, like, dodges and stuff.
[00:21:39] But eventually, cheetah getting the better of it.
[00:21:42] It's just, I don't know, man.
[00:21:44] Pure nature.
[00:21:47] Yeah.
[00:21:48] Machine on the track.
[00:21:50] Like, wow.
[00:21:52] No, it was awesome, dude.
[00:21:53] Like, that battle between Max and Charles was so beautiful.
[00:21:57] First of all, they both know each other so well.
[00:22:00] It's very clear, you know.
[00:22:02] They race each other hard but still fair at the same time.
[00:22:05] I think Max, for some reason, races Charles a lot different than all other drivers, honestly.
[00:22:13] Yeah, he doesn't want to push him out.
[00:22:15] He's like punting others out.
[00:22:16] And then, like, he's wearing, like, you know, baby gloves around Charles at times.
[00:22:22] And there was also this moment where, I think in the sprint race, okay, when Max was just
[00:22:29] behind Charles and these both were ahead, Piastri and Norris.
[00:22:36] And Verstappen was faster than the McLaren, but Lachlach was doing a pretty well job at not letting him pass by.
[00:22:44] And he's making mistakes at the same time.
[00:22:46] And Max comes onto the radio and says, like, come on, Charles, so many mistakes.
[00:22:54] Wow, man.
[00:22:55] This guy was in his element.
[00:22:57] Well, Helmut Marko asked him to get a podium and Boyd came to leave it.
[00:23:01] Yeah, exactly.
[00:23:02] Yeah, we've got to talk about other Red Bull drivers as well, even, like, Team A.T.B.
[00:23:08] While we're on the Prazer's front, I think I want to give a shout-out to Sunoda.
[00:23:13] Oh, yeah.
[00:23:14] He drove that car like a beast.
[00:23:17] Yeah, man.
[00:23:18] I think P2 or P3 in the Qualies held that position for a long time.
[00:23:22] Even the race start, after the race start, like, a decent fight to hold his position.
[00:23:30] Yeah, just a bit of a weekend.
[00:23:32] But coming down to the two clowns.
[00:23:37] Okay, wait, before you say anything, have you heard that song going around about Liam Lawson?
[00:23:44] No.
[00:23:44] What?
[00:23:45] Okay, I'll share it with you later.
[00:23:47] I'll share it on Twitter as well.
[00:23:49] Okay.
[00:23:49] But it's just too good.
[00:23:51] Anyways, go ahead.
[00:23:52] Okay.
[00:23:52] No, dude.
[00:23:53] My question is, why is Perez?
[00:23:56] And why is Lawson?
[00:23:57] At this point, I did think, like, you know, hey, yeah, Lawson's sort of like this new guy
[00:24:02] who's got this heat.
[00:24:03] Yeah.
[00:24:03] I'm like, but no.
[00:24:05] No.
[00:24:06] Yeah.
[00:24:07] He had a few incidents on the track.
[00:24:09] I don't want to get into those.
[00:24:11] But him not even defending or fighting against Max and just like, just like moving out of
[00:24:18] It felt like he especially stepped out of the way completely.
[00:24:20] And just letting him go.
[00:24:21] I thought he was going to do the same with Hamilton as well towards the end of the race.
[00:24:25] But fortunately, the laps ran out.
[00:24:27] Uh-huh.
[00:24:28] But Perez, I know you're fighting the guy for the seat.
[00:24:32] Don't be a dick, dude.
[00:24:34] Right.
[00:24:35] And I mean, Perez, my other annoyances with Perez, dude, you are a fucking RBR driver.
[00:24:42] How do you end up behind him?
[00:24:45] It felt like to me that Lawson's, well, while he stepped out of Max's way, he knew that,
[00:24:51] you know, it will be in my favor if I'm a dick to Perez.
[00:24:55] But I can't do anything to Max because I'm definitely not getting a seat if I by any chance
[00:25:00] touch him in any house.
[00:25:02] There is this cool down room thing where they show a clip of Perez as he spun out, I think
[00:25:09] on lap one, two or three or whatever.
[00:25:12] And then Max says, I didn't even see Perez the whole race.
[00:25:15] That's the only time I saw him.
[00:25:20] Man, obviously nobody saw him.
[00:25:23] Anyways, this is probably like, I don't know how true this is, but this is the first time
[00:25:27] Red Bull drivers finished at the position of their car number.
[00:25:32] So Max finishing one and Perez finishing 11.
[00:25:35] 11.
[00:25:36] Well, why am I surprised?
[00:25:39] Anyways, talking of failures, now let's come back to Norris.
[00:25:45] Yeah, dude.
[00:25:46] Oh, man.
[00:25:47] The red flag is one thing, but like he gave away his places with those two spins on race.
[00:25:53] Yeah.
[00:25:54] Yeah, man.
[00:25:55] First of all, you know, getting stuck behind Russell pretty much throughout the race.
[00:26:01] There was just one point where he got ahead of him, but then he retook the position, I think,
[00:26:06] right?
[00:26:06] If I'm not wrong.
[00:26:07] I don't exactly remember.
[00:26:10] But most of the race, he was not able to challenge Russell at all.
[00:26:14] It's like all race starts.
[00:26:16] He bottled them.
[00:26:17] He literally spun out.
[00:26:19] First of all, okay, I have another question.
[00:26:21] And I don't know.
[00:26:23] I mean, I understand.
[00:26:24] Let's talk about the corner where he went out and then like completely cut the corner and
[00:26:29] rejoined behind Piastri.
[00:26:32] Yeah.
[00:26:32] Which I feel, well, technically to the rule of law, I mean, to the rules written in the
[00:26:39] FIA books, he rejoined where he left the track, but he completely cut a whole corner.
[00:26:46] So did he really rejoin where he left the track?
[00:26:49] Like, I'm not sure about that part.
[00:26:52] Yeah, dude.
[00:26:53] I think so somewhere all of this is also like a domino effect from what McLaren should have
[00:26:59] made team orders seven, 10 races back.
[00:27:03] Right?
[00:27:04] Like that gap with Max would have been lesser and the pressure situation would have been different.
[00:27:09] Yeah.
[00:27:10] Because what it came down to was begging Piastri to get, like begging the team for Piastri
[00:27:17] to get team orders to get that position from him during sprint.
[00:27:22] And twice, man.
[00:27:23] Twice.
[00:27:23] Like one sprint and in the front days.
[00:27:25] Like both at a time.
[00:27:26] And then fucking it up.
[00:27:28] Yeah, totally.
[00:27:30] Oh, that was the biggest insult, man.
[00:27:32] Like you swap positions and then you fucking go out of the track.
[00:27:36] Right up.
[00:27:38] Yeah, dude.
[00:27:39] I think like Piastri is a better driver at this point than Norris.
[00:27:43] I think the only thing Piastri is lacking at right now is a little bit more of consistency.
[00:27:50] Like sometimes he's not great at qualifying.
[00:27:53] But if he like irons that out, I'm pretty sure.
[00:27:56] Yeah, he can do great.
[00:27:57] Like I don't, you know, I don't even want to talk a lot about Norris because there's been so much negativity around the internet in general about him.
[00:28:06] And like, I don't know.
[00:28:09] I am angry at that guy.
[00:28:11] At the same time, I kind of feel bad.
[00:28:12] I don't know.
[00:28:13] I'm somewhere in between.
[00:28:14] Yeah.
[00:28:14] Yeah, I am with you on this because to be honest, right?
[00:28:19] Like I think, I think this year was probably his only chance, at least in the near term length for him to win a championship, which is now gone again.
[00:28:32] So, I think his championship is done.
[00:28:35] Unless something really drastic happens with Max, with Norris winning and, you know, something or the other.
[00:28:43] Yeah, right.
[00:28:44] So, that's done.
[00:28:45] Even Marco came out and said like, I'm glad Hamilton wasn't driving that McLaren or else he would have won the championship.
[00:28:55] Oh, for sure.
[00:28:56] Yeah.
[00:28:57] For sure.
[00:28:57] So, all in all, yeah, I think like Norris needs to get his head a bit more narcissistic as Max and Hamilton have to win that championship.
[00:29:10] Yeah, precisely.
[00:29:11] And I think it goes to show what happens when you go against these very fierce competitors like Hamilton and Max.
[00:29:20] Like, it's, Rosberg had to pretty much give up his entire life for a year.
[00:29:25] Yeah.
[00:29:25] To actually fight Hamilton.
[00:29:27] He has said this time and again.
[00:29:30] And make, I think like if Rosberg looks back with the number of enemies he had on 1st January 2016 to 1st January 2017.
[00:29:40] Like, exponential.
[00:29:41] Right.
[00:29:42] To get what he wanted.
[00:29:43] And then, and then he was like, as soon as he got the trophy, I'm like, bitch, I'm out.
[00:29:47] I'm fucking off.
[00:29:47] I don't want more enemies at this point.
[00:29:49] Bitch, I'm out.
[00:29:53] Yeah.
[00:29:54] That's the thing, man.
[00:29:55] Like, you have to, he actually had these, he had hired mental coaches.
[00:29:59] He had hired, like, everything.
[00:30:02] Like, he, in fact, he said to his wife that, you know, I'm going to live alone for a year for this championship.
[00:30:09] Like, I don't want any distractions.
[00:30:11] Bout has tried that too with his wife.
[00:30:16] She was like, cool.
[00:30:17] Bout has thought, like, that's what the second driver at Mercedes does.
[00:30:20] But apparently not.
[00:30:24] But it's insane.
[00:30:26] I feel Max has gotten to him, to Lando mentally.
[00:30:30] I think he, he's lost it in his head itself.
[00:30:34] This guy hasn't won.
[00:30:37] I mean, you are the champion.
[00:30:39] And then somehow, post mid-season, the car is just shit.
[00:30:45] Right?
[00:30:46] And you start contemplating your life because you can't think about anything else but the championship.
[00:30:52] Right.
[00:30:53] Right?
[00:30:53] And then, it's like, I'll either kill someone or I'll win.
[00:30:59] That's the mentality that I think Max lives under.
[00:31:02] Anyways, anyways, let's, I mean, yeah, this is repetitive maybe at some point.
[00:31:06] But let's talk for once in our lives.
[00:31:12] Let's talk.
[00:31:14] Let's talk Alpines.
[00:31:16] Let's talk the French.
[00:31:17] The French Civil War was suspended for one day.
[00:31:21] There was peace and unity.
[00:31:24] I saw this post or I heard someone say, I don't know what it was.
[00:31:29] But it was a race that mended all rivalries and all enmities.
[00:31:37] Right?
[00:31:37] Because Hamilton was congratulating Max.
[00:31:39] These two were looking at each other as if, you know, the couple getting back off.
[00:31:45] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:31:46] Totally.
[00:31:47] Ah, man.
[00:31:47] But what a performance.
[00:31:50] Insane, man.
[00:31:50] Yeah.
[00:31:51] Again, red flag, blah, blah, blah.
[00:31:53] Whatever people say, let them say.
[00:31:55] But you still have to maintain that position, right?
[00:31:57] You still have to avoid making mistakes.
[00:31:59] You still have to not spin out twice.
[00:32:02] Yeah.
[00:32:03] Yeah.
[00:32:03] Like other people.
[00:32:06] And some luck for Okon, right?
[00:32:09] But Gasly, man.
[00:32:11] 10 positions or something is what he gave.
[00:32:13] Yeah, yeah.
[00:32:14] Right, right, right.
[00:32:15] Yeah.
[00:32:15] And even for Okon, actually.
[00:32:17] Like, he started out T4, I think.
[00:32:21] Which was pretty amazing for him first of all.
[00:32:23] Yeah, yeah.
[00:32:24] Yeah.
[00:32:24] So, he didn't lose any positions or anything.
[00:32:28] He didn't gain.
[00:32:29] Actually, he didn't gain a lot from the red flag either.
[00:32:32] Yeah.
[00:32:32] Like, when you think about it.
[00:32:33] Yeah.
[00:32:34] So, yeah.
[00:32:35] And in fact, I think in the cool down room, Max also said this.
[00:32:40] That during the first safety car restart, Okon built a four second gap.
[00:32:45] And it was on merit.
[00:32:47] Like, during the race, I thought that he, you know, Max is not pushing because he doesn't need to.
[00:32:51] Yeah.
[00:32:51] But then, during the cool down, he actually said that I was not able to catch you at that time.
[00:32:57] And so, like, complete kudos to Okon for that.
[00:33:01] Yeah.
[00:33:01] Honestly.
[00:33:02] Yeah.
[00:33:03] There should be this image of, like, them congratulating each other and, you know, the high five sort of thing.
[00:33:09] It should be an image of, like, five years or four years back.
[00:33:13] Six years.
[00:33:13] 2018, I think.
[00:33:14] Like, six years back.
[00:33:15] Him slapping him for that turn one incident to this.
[00:33:22] From enemies to friends.
[00:33:24] Sure.
[00:33:26] If Okon would have done something like this again, he would have.
[00:33:30] Max would have just shot him dead.
[00:33:32] Dude, I'm not even kidding.
[00:33:33] When the safety car restart was happening, I was like, okay, fuck, this is going to be part two.
[00:33:39] We are going to see fireworks.
[00:33:42] Yeah.
[00:33:43] Thankfully, nothing happened.
[00:33:45] But it felt like fanboy moment for, like, Alpine sitting there in that cool down room with, like, Max.
[00:33:53] And it's like, I mean, they are all the same age and they've just driven together.
[00:33:56] But one's become a legend and the other two are just clowning their way.
[00:34:00] It totally reminded me of Borat's scene, you know, where he, like, enters the hotel room and he's, like, you know, just fascinated by it.
[00:34:09] It was exactly the same energy that they both had when they entered the room.
[00:34:13] Yeah.
[00:34:13] Cool down room.
[00:34:14] Yeah.
[00:34:15] And in the last two years, it's not that Alpine have not gotten a podium.
[00:34:19] I think, like, Ocon got a P1, 2, 3, 3 years back with the long zone.
[00:34:24] But they're both together?
[00:34:25] Yeah, right.
[00:34:26] And there was this image of the FIA rep telling the Alpine engineers in the Park Fermi position of 1, 2, and 3.
[00:34:36] I'm pretty sure he was explaining him what needs to be done and what's going to happen because he's new or he's someone who's ever seen or been in this position.
[00:34:48] Yeah, it's crazy.
[00:34:51] I think it's like a dream, like fever dream for them.
[00:34:55] Like, they must be still pinching themselves.
[00:34:57] It was a $25 million weekend for them.
[00:35:02] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:35:03] They went P9 to P6 in one race.
[00:35:09] $25 million in just one race.
[00:35:13] They had no hopes of earning any points.
[00:35:16] I am pretty sure BWT owners are going to be dancing for rain gods for the next three races.
[00:35:22] Best water technology.
[00:35:24] That's their name, right?
[00:35:25] So, yeah.
[00:35:25] There it is.
[00:35:27] They'll probably have, like, some new water pipe that'll induce rains onto the tracks.
[00:35:34] Hey, dude.
[00:35:35] I mean, you're not showing up on the weather maps.
[00:35:38] Why is the track wet?
[00:35:42] Dude, I saw a meme where, like, Alpine doesn't know how to build a fast car, but they definitely know how to build a fast boat.
[00:35:50] Yeah.
[00:35:51] That's what it is.
[00:35:53] Oh, wow.
[00:35:53] Yeah.
[00:35:54] That's what it is.
[00:35:55] Yeah.
[00:35:56] That's why BWT.
[00:35:57] Yeah.
[00:35:58] Yeah.
[00:35:59] But, boy, what a race.
[00:36:01] There's still, I mean, we've been talking for the longest in the past few episodes and there is still so much left.
[00:36:07] There is still so much.
[00:36:08] So much remaining.
[00:36:08] Just touching the surface.
[00:36:10] Alonzo.
[00:36:10] Alonzo.
[00:36:10] Alonzo.
[00:36:11] Let's talk about.
[00:36:12] Let's talk about.
[00:36:13] Old man Alonzo.
[00:36:15] Oh, dude.
[00:36:16] Oh, man.
[00:36:17] His back was.
[00:36:18] He.
[00:36:19] Old man Alonzo, man.
[00:36:21] Like, he's like, I'll finish this, but my back is just gone.
[00:36:26] Yeah.
[00:36:27] He literally said this.
[00:36:28] I'm doing this only for the engineers.
[00:36:30] And then, like, after the race, Park Furman again, like, you have this shot of three people coming in and helping him get up.
[00:36:40] As if I would my great grandfather after being down for five minutes.
[00:36:45] Dude, I'm telling you, wheelchair accessible F1 cars coming soon.
[00:36:50] Oh, man.
[00:36:52] Yeah.
[00:36:52] Because of this guy.
[00:36:54] But speaking of oldies, the other oldies on track, Hamilton.
[00:36:58] Yes.
[00:36:59] It was painful, man.
[00:37:01] I know.
[00:37:01] It was painful.
[00:37:02] I know we diss him.
[00:37:04] We sort of, like, don't like him winning too much.
[00:37:06] But he's the other master class on the grid.
[00:37:08] Yeah.
[00:37:09] But it was painful watching him.
[00:37:10] Very painful.
[00:37:11] Man.
[00:37:13] I think he, at the end of the race, he said something like, this was the worst the car has been till now.
[00:37:21] And.
[00:37:22] But good job to the engineers and the mechanics.
[00:37:25] Yeah.
[00:37:26] I don't know if it was being sarcastic or.
[00:37:28] I don't know.
[00:37:33] Sorry.
[00:37:34] Go ahead.
[00:37:35] It almost felt like he was, he was there this weekend only to drive San Oscar.
[00:37:40] That's it.
[00:37:41] That was the only purpose.
[00:37:43] Yeah.
[00:37:43] Yeah.
[00:37:44] Yeah.
[00:37:44] I think, like, people in Brazil just love him.
[00:37:46] So that's why he's like, you know what?
[00:37:47] I'll come.
[00:37:48] I'll come.
[00:37:49] Give me something.
[00:37:50] I'll come.
[00:37:51] Yeah.
[00:37:51] Exactly.
[00:37:52] What a, what a.
[00:37:54] Oh, how?
[00:37:55] I mean.
[00:37:56] I can't even understand or imagine what those emotions would be to drive that McLaren.
[00:38:03] Yeah.
[00:38:03] Yeah, man.
[00:38:05] Wow.
[00:38:05] Just wow.
[00:38:06] Yeah.
[00:38:07] Super.
[00:38:08] It was fun, man.
[00:38:09] Sadly, I didn't get to see a lot of shots from it.
[00:38:13] Like I, I, I saw some clicks here and there, but.
[00:38:16] Yeah.
[00:38:16] Mine's been read it and Twitter.
[00:38:18] I mean, I've not.
[00:38:19] Okay.
[00:38:19] Right.
[00:38:19] Yeah.
[00:38:20] Sure.
[00:38:21] I want to know if something changed under the, the red flag situation for Hamilton.
[00:38:28] Cause prior to that, I mean, he was barely able to keep up.
[00:38:33] Bearman, I think, overtook him once.
[00:38:35] Even the rookies were overtaking him.
[00:38:37] Um, he complained about the bounce so much, but coming out of that red flag, it was a different
[00:38:44] Hamilton.
[00:38:46] Unless he got like the dump and the shit of his life.
[00:38:49] Cause he usually does that.
[00:38:55] Either that or I think there's some, some investigation going on about him.
[00:39:00] Bye.
[00:39:01] If I, if I remember correctly, first of all, the stewards had a lot of work last race.
[00:39:06] I'm pretty sure they missed a few things and totally forgot about a few as well.
[00:39:09] Yeah.
[00:39:10] But I think there was this something got to do with tire pressures for him.
[00:39:13] If I remember correctly, uh, that they were investigating as, uh, like them changing tire
[00:39:20] pressures during a red flag, which is apparently not allowed.
[00:39:23] Yeah.
[00:39:23] Seems like so.
[00:39:24] I heard about this.
[00:39:25] Yeah.
[00:39:26] Yeah.
[00:39:26] I guess that was probably done for, for the bounce that the car.
[00:39:30] Yeah.
[00:39:31] Likely.
[00:39:32] That's right.
[00:39:32] He was having some fights though, right?
[00:39:34] I think, uh, there was some good back and forth between him and, uh, Kula Pinto, I think,
[00:39:41] uh, for a few, uh, corners and, uh, who else?
[00:39:45] I think even Bearman, uh, I think he was fighting with, uh, for a bit, but yeah.
[00:39:49] Yeah.
[00:39:49] Bearman and Kula Pinto primarily, uh, which is a weird spot to be in, but yeah.
[00:39:55] Yes.
[00:39:57] Right?
[00:39:57] Yeah.
[00:39:57] So, uh, so the seasons actually, I'm pretty sure.
[00:40:02] So I'm pretty sure we're still, I'm pretty sure we're still missing out on quite a lot
[00:40:06] of things that would have happened.
[00:40:07] But I, I think like with Max winning this one at this point now, we didn't talk about
[00:40:13] Ferraris, but Ferrari did clown a bit again this weekend.
[00:40:17] Uh-huh.
[00:40:18] And if the Ferraris don't get their game up, Max will win, um, or at least put himself
[00:40:26] in, as P2 in the World Constructor Championship.
[00:40:30] Right.
[00:40:31] I think they should change the table to Max Verstappen rather than Red Bull Racing Team.
[00:40:36] Yeah, exactly.
[00:40:39] Max Verstappen, he's saying.
[00:40:41] I'll part with this, folks.
[00:40:43] The, you, you would have obviously heard about the fact that there's only been handful
[00:40:49] of championship drives from out of P17 that drivers have won and Max is, is one of them
[00:40:57] at this point.
[00:40:58] Right?
[00:40:58] Five.
[00:40:58] Yeah.
[00:40:59] Exactly.
[00:40:59] One hand.
[00:40:59] Exactly.
[00:41:00] Right?
[00:41:00] Yeah.
[00:41:00] One hand.
[00:41:01] For folks who want to be, be a bit more nostalgic.
[00:41:05] One of that has been Kimi Raikkonen, Suzuka, 20, sorry, 2005.
[00:41:12] Uh-huh.
[00:41:13] And that, go back and watch it.
[00:41:15] That, and my memory might be a bit hazy at this point, so pardon some, some details.
[00:41:22] But go back and see it because that is one of the classic.
[00:41:28] Classic in terms of obviously the nostalgia factor, but also classic in the fact of Kimi
[00:41:33] being Kimi because he crashes out, I think a day prior in Quali because of a brake failure,
[00:41:39] gets drunk on vodka because he's like, fuck this, that's not gonna happen.
[00:41:44] Comes back the next day.
[00:42:01] Uh-huh.
[00:42:02] Just brilliant.
[00:42:03] And I think like, Kimi still tops my list.
[00:42:06] Uh-huh.
[00:42:06] Maybe Max's second at this point.
[00:42:08] Yeah.
[00:42:09] I think Kimi, honestly, like when he came into the sport, he had the same amount of commotion
[00:42:15] around him what Max had when he came in.
[00:42:18] I think he was like a talent that was well-known.
[00:42:22] I think he also skipped F2.
[00:42:23] I think he did only a single appearance in F2.
[00:42:26] I think Kimi, I reckon, when he joined F1.
[00:42:30] He didn't even like do an entire season there and he was right into F1.
[00:42:35] So I think, yeah, pretty comparable, I think, in that sense.
[00:42:39] Yeah.
[00:42:40] Yeah.
[00:42:40] You know, there's one last thing which I have to mention, especially about like the fastest
[00:42:45] laps that like Max was trying to do.
[00:42:48] I don't know what he was trying to do.
[00:42:49] Yeah.
[00:42:50] Fucking 17 fastest laps.
[00:42:52] What the fuck is that even?
[00:42:53] Yeah.
[00:42:54] 17 fastest laps.
[00:42:56] And of the top 10, nine is him.
[00:43:00] Nine.
[00:43:00] Right.
[00:43:01] And then the 10th is Lando, but sure.
[00:43:04] Lando, yeah.
[00:43:05] Yeah.
[00:43:05] So pick a fastest lap.
[00:43:07] Sure.
[00:43:07] Pick any of the nine.
[00:43:08] Yeah.
[00:43:08] And I think you were telling me this, right?
[00:43:11] Like Leclerc was asking his engineers, what is the fastest lap?
[00:43:16] And I don't know if it's a gag or did he really get told Leclerc, Charles, don't ask.
[00:43:21] Yeah, exactly.
[00:43:21] Like, dude, don't get into that.
[00:43:25] Chill wherever you are.
[00:43:26] Right.
[00:43:27] And on that bombshell, folks, again, a three-week break before we come back towards the end
[00:43:34] of the month at Las Vegas.
[00:43:35] Apparently, that circuit is struggling to sell tickets.
[00:43:39] Yeah.
[00:43:40] Unlike last year.
[00:43:42] I don't see why not because, I mean, races shouldn't be that expensive.
[00:43:47] Like $1,000 for a race to get lost.
[00:43:50] They're discounting it at $600.
[00:43:53] Wow.
[00:43:54] Anyways.
[00:43:55] Biggest face pop ever.
[00:43:57] So, yeah.
[00:43:58] See you, folks, from Las Vegas.
[00:44:01] We'll still be in our rooms, but see you from Las Vegas.
[00:44:05] And hoping to see the championship at least get a bit more entertaining in the last three
[00:44:11] races.
[00:44:12] Until the next race, we are your hosts signing off.
[00:44:16] Bye-bye.
[00:44:17] Bye-bye.
