[00:01:17] Let's get into the details.
[00:01:19] In a major boost to its military prowess, India has successfully flight-tested a long-range hypersonic missile off the coast of Odisha, an achievement that has put the country in a select group of nations having the weapon that can strike with extreme speed and evade most air-defense systems.
[00:01:35] Defense Minister Rajnat Singh described the missile test on Saturday under the country's first long-range hypersonic mission as a stupendous achievement and a historic moment.
[00:01:44] The missile, developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization, is designed to carry various payloads for ranges greater than 1,500 km, an official readout said.
[00:01:54] At present, Russia and China are way ahead in developing hypersonic missiles, while the United States is in the process of developing a range of such weapons under an ambitious program.
[00:02:03] Several other countries, including France, Germany, Australia, Japan, Iran and Israel are also pursuing projects to develop hypersonic missile systems.
[00:02:13] In a setback to the Ahmadami party ahead of the Delhi Assembly polls, its senior leader and city transport minister Kailash Gheilat quit the party on Sunday.
[00:02:21] In his resignation letter to Ahmadami party convener Arvind Kejriwal, the 50-year-old pointed to the grave challenges facing the party.
[00:02:28] Gheilat, a prominent figure in the party, also took a jab at Kejriwal while flagging some awkward and embarrassing controversies like Shish Mahal, saying it makes everyone doubt if we still believe in being the Ahmadami.
[00:02:39] Gheilat's reference to the Shish Mahal controversy comes against the backdrop of BJP leaders charged that Kajriwal spent crores on lavish items in modern facilities at his former official residence at 6 Flagstaff Road.
[00:02:51] The BJP had dubbed Kajriwal's earlier residence as Shish Mahal.
[00:02:55] Ahmadami party leader said Gheilat was facing ED and CBI cases and he had no option left but to join the BJP.
[00:03:01] It's a dirty political conspiracy of the BJP and it wants to win the Delhi Assembly polls by misusing the ED and CBI they charged.
[00:03:09] Gheilat, who was also in charge of the portfolios of home, administrative reforms, IT and women and child development, said the Ahmadami party has also been fighting for its own political agenda instead of fighting for the rights of the people.
[00:03:21] The situation remains calm but tense in Manpur's Impal Valley where an indefinite curfew has been imposed and internet services suspended following violent protests on Sunday.
[00:03:30] The demonstration started after the discovery of the bodies of women and children allegedly abducted and killed by militants in Jiribam.
[00:03:36] The bodies of the deceased were recovered from the Bharak River on Saturday while three others including a woman and two children were found on Friday.
[00:03:44] The rioters attacked the residences of state ministers and six MLA's.
[00:03:48] They also ransacked the houses of three legislators including Chief Minister N. B. Rain Singh's son-in-law and set their properties on fire.
[00:03:57] Bangladesh is battling its worst outbreak of dengue in years with more than 400 deaths as rising temperatures and a longer monsoon season drive a surge in infections,
[00:04:05] leaving hospitals struggling to cope particularly in urban areas.
[00:04:09] At least 407 people have died from related complications since 2024 with 78,595 patients admitted to hospitals nationwide, the latest official figures show.
[00:04:20] By mid-November, 4,173 patients were being treated with 1,835 of them in Dhaka, the capital and 2,338 elsewhere.
[00:04:29] Last year was the dead list on record in the current crisis with 1,705 deaths and more than 3,21,000 infections reported.
[00:04:37] The growing frequency and severity of outbreak strains Bangladesh has already overwhelmed the healthcare system as hospitals battle to treat thousands of patients.
[00:04:46] The Riyadh Criminal Court postponed the decision on the discharge petition of Abdul Rahim imprisoned in connection with the murder of a Saudi boy on Sunday.
[00:04:54] The new bench adjourned the verdict for two more weeks. This unexpected delay means another 14 days to learn the court's ruling on Abdul Rahim's petition.
[00:05:02] The adjournment without any decision has added to the uncertainty surrounding the case.
[00:05:06] Abdul Rahim was an auto driver in Farouk Kourikour when he left for Saudi Arabia in 2006 seeking better opportunities.
[00:05:13] He joined as a driver in Riyadh. He had to take care of a differently-abled boy in the family. While he was driving with the boy, a device that helped him breathe accidentally fell inside the car.
[00:05:23] The boy lost consciousness and died. Even though it was unintentional, Rahim was booked for murder and sentenced to death as per Saudi law.
[00:05:30] Later, the court altered its ruling after the boy's family agreed to accept blood money.
