Sister Daphne: Leading Transformation & Changing Mindset
Sr. Daphne works with the Torpa Women's Development Society for Women, and helps in offering literacy and life skills classes to women and girls who have been denied an education. She also helps the women receive micro-credit loans to grow their families’ businesses. By offering women a basic education, she finds that they have “an instrument of empowerment, to their family, to the community, and to the society.”
About TORPA: The Torpa Rural Development Society for Women is situated in the Khunti District of Jharkhand. It aims at empowering the tribal community through the education and livelihood of Children and women. It has been mainly working with the Munda tribe.
