Fresh out of college, Shashank Kumar had everything lined up — a pre-placement offer from Microsoft, a great salary, and weekends spent driving a Ford Mustang across the US.
On paper, it was perfect.
But something didn’t sit right.
India had subsidized almost all of his education. He’d been among the top students in the country. And yet, he found himself doing work that millions of people anywhere in the world could do — work that ultimately contributed more to America’s GDP than India’s.
“I felt like a cog in a wheel,” he says.
That discomfort became the spark that eventually led him back home — and later, to co-found Razorpay.
In this episode of The Blume Podcast, Shashank & Harshil join Karthik Reddy to talk about purpose, identity, and the moment you realize you’re meant to build something bigger than yourself.
