[00:00:07] A Talk on Purpose of Life

[00:00:09] By the end of this talk, you would be able to understand the meaning of purpose, the difference between purpose in life and purpose of life, methods to work on the purpose of life.

[00:00:22] The purpose of human life is often a subject of deep contemplation.

[00:00:28] Let's begin with a few questions.

[00:00:31] Is there a purpose to human life?

[00:00:34] What drives the purpose behind any individual pursuits?

[00:00:39] Does human life have an inherent purpose?

[00:00:42] If so, what would be the underlying purpose?

[00:00:47] Let's start with the meaning of purpose.

[00:00:50] The meaning of the purpose is the reason for something to exist.

[00:00:55] The reason for something is done, made or used.

[00:01:00] Now we need to differentiate between purpose of life and purpose in life.

[00:01:06] A lot of times people do get confused with the purpose in life, with the purpose of life.

[00:01:12] The purpose in life is individualistic.

[00:01:15] Depending on one's interest and internal constitution, one decides about the purpose in life.

[00:01:22] The purpose in life varies from person to person.

[00:01:26] That means we can decide about the purpose in life.

[00:01:30] It could be finding fulfillment, pursuing passions, making meaningful connections, contributing to the society or finding happiness and condiment.

[00:01:43] The purpose of life is not individualistic.

[00:01:46] It is not set by us.

[00:01:48] It is set by the intelligence that created the human life.

[00:01:52] What would be the intention of that intelligence?

[00:01:55] The intelligence inherent in each living being and non-living things.

[00:02:01] If you look at the planned life or animal life, their life is complete within a certain time frame.

[00:02:09] As opposed to the planned life and animal life, our life is a continuum.

[00:02:15] We are evolving through generations.

[00:02:18] We are in a journey of evolution, like a baton passing in a relay run.

[00:02:23] Either we can collectively evolve or we can accelerate the process individually.

[00:02:31] If you're going with the second option, you need to take the purpose of life seriously.

[00:02:37] The purpose of human life is to grow and evolve, expressed at hidden possibilities.

[00:02:44] What are we evolving here?

[00:02:47] We are evolving the mind or developing the brain.

[00:02:51] Anyone engaged consciously in that process naturally become more happy.

[00:02:56] Sadness and boredom is a sign that one is not engaged in the process of internal expression.

[00:03:06] We are carrying an amazing brain which has so much potential.

[00:03:13] We are yet to explore it collectively.

[00:03:16] We do have great personalities, explore that individually in their life.

[00:03:20] They are less in numbers.

[00:03:22] One question we can ask, what is life?

[00:03:27] I like to define life as things happening to our body and mind till the time we are alive.

[00:03:34] What is the purpose of body then?

[00:03:37] The purpose of the body is to grow and act as a tool and a canvas for us to experience life.

[00:03:44] The growth of the body is inherent and it is completed by the time we reach the age of 17 or 18.

[00:03:52] And it continues to serve us till we die.

[00:03:56] And what is the purpose of mind?

[00:03:59] The purpose of the mind is to continue to evolve till we die.

[00:04:03] It should never stop growing.

[00:04:05] If anyone who is engaged in the path of evolution, evolution of the mind is in alignment with the purpose of life.

[00:04:14] How do one work on expanding the mind?

[00:04:17] The mind should have the ability to hold many things at the same time.

[00:04:23] The mind should be able to connect with the past experience and future possibilities.

[00:04:28] Even when one goes to the problems rather than being completely problem focused,

[00:04:35] completely blind to what happened before and what is going to happen after.

[00:04:40] Mind should develop the capacity to see, to feel and hear the details of reality or subdivisions of reality.

[00:04:49] In this, to feel is the most important thing.

[00:04:53] That is how the mind connects with yourself, the internal journey.

[00:04:58] This is essentially done in the plane of subconscious realm.

[00:05:02] The ability of the conscious mind to break the boundaries created by the mind itself.

[00:05:07] The basic mind functions better with the boundaries and growing mind breaks that.

[00:05:13] To conclude, we all should engage ourselves in the process of developing and expanding the mind.
