Amogh: Hello and welcome to the Corner Flag Preview. We are talking about Game Week 4 of the Premier League and that's not all. We also going to be about the Champions League because it has begun. And as United fans, Ronaq and I have things to talk about this season in the Champions
Ronaq: Hehehe.
Amogh: League. This is a fairly brand new territory for us. But fuck it feels good.
Ronaq: It does feel good and you know, like we all knew there was a whole storyline about Saba with the manager who has a great storyline coming into this game. And we spoke about that in the review for the previous game week. And I was just like, I want a stress free match. I don't want a battering. I don't want anything outrageous. I just want a stress free match where we look in control and Even though they had some chances, they were playing fairly confident. They were up for the occasion obviously, but
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: I liked how we played. I love the midfield pairing of Menuh and Telemans. yeah, it was just smiles, man. After the first goal, it was just all smiles for
Amogh: Let's talk about the fact that England has completed the Champions League match day 1. They have achieved 5 games, 5 English teams played and all 5 won. So Aston Villa beat Club Groove at 3-2, Ben City beat Porto at 2-0, Liverpool beat Atletico at 2-1, Arsenal beat Napoli 1-0 and of course, like we were discussing, Man United beat Saba 4-0. I mean, I just...
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: We can score Goals exist as a concept in football.
Ronaq: Yeah, I mean, seriously, like we were all worried about Villa not having scored for even a single game, not even scored a single goal in the Premier League and going into the Champions League, although it was a fairly easy fixture for them with Club Brugge. But, you know, like like in Premier League, even Champions League can throw you curveballs. And
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: it was just good to see that, you know, Villa found their scoring from even though they considered two goals. But they found their goal scoring form and it was obviously like even it was the first goal for Nicholas Jackson in Aston
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: Villa colour. So, you things are now looking a little bit better than what they were previous weekend. But yeah.
Amogh: I mean, if you're saying that things are looking a little bit better, think that is an understatement of the year. Because
Ronaq: Bare minimum.
Amogh: I was looking at the stats. Three games played in the Premier League by Aston Villa, no goals scored. But they've gone to Club Brugger. And 21 shots registered, which 9 were on target, of which 3 were goals. That's a good output. Now that is
Ronaq: That is.
Amogh: the output that Unai Emery would want in the Premier League, if not in every game at least on a consistent basis. Of course with zero goals in the Premier League, even one shot on target every game seems like a thing in the Premier League, but this is more like it from Villa.
Ronaq: 100%, 100 % and they still have a few players out even their, you know, a new young center forward Machhdo is still been out. Couple other players are still out for them. So they are still looking forward to a few players coming back into the squad. And I think more than anything, they just wanted a win yesterday and even a scrappy win was fine. Anything they just needed a win under their belt and they finally got it. It was a good performance by them. They scored all the goals in the first half so and considered one so it was 3-1 going into the second half and then it was all about game management and you know they saw through it with a 3-2 result. I'm sure they would have wanted a better result but they'll take anything they get right.
Amogh: Man City of course beat Porto 2-0 with Erling Arlen scoring both goals. mean the cheat code continues, right Ronaq? this is if there is
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: if there is a UEFA fantasy league that anybody is interested in playing then I think even over there Erling Arlen is easily favourite choice for forward captain every league.
Ronaq: 100 % 100 % 100 % and like even you know talking about City now they have a completely new chapter in front of them and Community Shield after the loss in the Community Shield everyone was a little bit, you know apprehensive about City people didn't take early Ireland in the Premier League teams and the SPL teams etc. But now it kind of looks like, okay, now City are back in the groove. We can expect weak in weak out performances from them. There might be an occasional because they don't look defensively astute in the Premier League at least. So there might be an odd game that throws in a curve ball. I don't see them seeing too many, keeping too many clean sheets, but it is good to see that City who is known to be a very attacking team is continuing that trend even under a new manager and the scoring goals.
Amogh: Yeah. Leads us very neatly onto the main event for this game week. Of course, on Sunday, 9 p.m. is the big one. It's the Manchester Derby, Manchester United versus Manchester City. Both these teams are gunning for it, obviously, but slightly different records coming into this, right? Because on one hand, City have played three league games. They've won all three. They've also won the Champions League game. They have won every competitive fixture under Enzo Maresca after the Cameraman shield. Whereas on the other side, United lost on the opening weekend to Hull, then battered Ipswich 5-2, through with Everton 2-2, battered Saba 4-0.
Ronaq: you
Amogh: So nobody knows what Manchester United is, what Carrick's Manchester United is just yet. I don't know if the players themselves know, but this the whole, it will be an early litmus test for both clubs, right?
Ronaq: So with United, even in the game against Saba, until we had scored the first goal, I would say as a fan looking at the game, I was a little dicey. Like, get into the game, get into the groove, don't let Saba have the ball too much. You should be dictating the game against an opposition like Saba at home. playing against Manchester City is going to be very different to that. I expect City to obviously have a lot of the ball and honestly as you know history says in the last season where we saw Carrick ball you know in its flow we thrive
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: in games where we don't have the ball too much and we are able to attack on the counter. We have you know players like T Lemons and Bruno and Menu who can link up the play very fast. It's going to be an interesting game. is all it's going to be about not conceding too many big chances against City, but because it's it's obviously difficult and we expect to see a defensive partnership of Harry Maguire and Lissandra Martinez at the back. It'll be interesting to see if Dorgu starts or Shaw. I think Carrick will go with Shaw at left back because he just trust Shaw more in the defensive aspect of the game and even against ABBA we saw Dorgu even though he was fielded as a left back he was playing left wing and we can't be doing that against Manchester City. So I expect short
Amogh: Absolutely. Yeah.
Ronaq: to start and it'll be interesting if he starts Dallo or Mazaravi. So honestly the whole team sheet apart from I mean the top half of the team should be pretty much no I feel it's going to be Kunia Rashford and Ember Mo he's going to bench Sesco Bruno will be behind them and it'll be the midfield partnership of T. Lemons and Menu. And actually, that's another interesting thing that because now we have so many decent midfielders, so many good midfielders that Carrick has the chance to chop and change the chance to test them out. And that's what he did. He started the game against ABBA with, you know, Telemans in menu, took Telemans off, then fielded in Mason Mountain, menu, testing out that partnership for a bit. And then obviously took out menu and then fielded in Andre Santos. and testing out under Santos and Mount, which was a combination he played a lot in the preseason. So,
Amogh: Yeah. Yeah.
Ronaq: and just to think that we still have Baliba in the fridge somewhere and he's going to come in a couple of weeks. So it's a
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: nice change of pace from, you know, having the likes of Ogarte and all in our midfield to having
Amogh: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ronaq: players of genuine quality like T. Lemons is just pure quality. He's not the
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: fastest, not the strongest, it's just... Amazing quality.
Amogh: So apart from the United side of things, from the city side also, there has been a fair amount of spice that has been thrown into this because Elliot Anderson has dubbed Manchester City as the kings of Manchester. As quote was ever since I was born, there has been one team in Manchester in blue. And Enzo Maresca has backed him. He said that Anderson is 23 years old and throughout the footballing life he remembers the city as being Manchester's dominant club. Now Michael Carrick was asked about this. in the late up to the Saba game and he said that you know he's not going to he's not going to bite with his response he's not going to bite but I mean the writings on the wall yeah like it hurts us as United fans also gone are the glory days in the recent history Man City have been the dominant force in Manchester
Ronaq: 100 % and you know there's no denying that there's no hiding under the couch for that it's just the bare reality he's a young player obviously he's seen the glory days of city as opposed to the glory days of Manchester United so that's fine and he's obviously a player for city who bought him for 121 million so he's going to say all the right things and even if he feels them or no
Amogh: I feel like, I mean, that is, you think that's a part of his contract, like, you know, your goal bonuses and all, like this is, peace Manchester United off bonus.
Ronaq: I mean see any player going for above 100 million that you know there's media contracts behind it you know that
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: he's going to get a lot of interview time lot of face time in front
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: of the camera so that it has to be controlled like he can't just go out there and spew anything he actually thinks or whatever but you know I think that's just a side part of it and Carek was kind of smart to avoid and not bite into it because It doesn't matter what Kharic says right now, doesn't matter what Mareska or anyone else says right now, what will matter is the result. And
Amogh: So.
Ronaq: in a game like this, even the performance doesn't matter. I wouldn't
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: care if we have only 20 % possession, but we somehow scrape out to one win. But it's just the result that matters.
Amogh: So in terms of the result also to get that result, big part is course, recovery. Now United have 48 hours less recovery time because they played in the Champions League on Thursday, City played on Tuesday and Karik has already said the turnaround is not ideal. But Maresca has responded to that and he said that it happens, you just have to deal with it. And
Ronaq: Yeah, exactly.
Amogh: he is not wrong, but it is like it... This is also a little bit of spice
Ronaq: you
Amogh: that is being added into the narrative and somewhere you know I feel like the lack of Guardiola in this city setup. has brought back the spice because Guardiola didn't really have the spice. His mind
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: games were very subtle. It was very like, no, no, I'm a friend of everyone. I respect and love everyone except Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but that's another matter. it was very, very docile. But now that Mareska is in the hot seat, it's really interesting. So I'm really liking this little spice that's coming into the style. It's a derby after all. You need that.
Ronaq: Yeah, I mean, see, know, with Guardiola, things are completely different. He had like transcended the rivalry because he was beating United and every other time. So
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: we weren't his direct rivals apart from the history of the club. His direct rivals were Liverpool in the major part of the city and then it ended up being Arsenal towards the end of it. So
Amogh: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Ronaq: I get that. we have had some decent results against them. We have beat them the odd time and I'm just hoping for a change in how we even approach this game because in the last 10 years it's always been City are favorites. They still are favorites, but we were always on the back foot. I hope we are able to start the game well because I think this City team is also finding itself and like you know how that Cherokee interview was that you know in half time Maresca kinda you know just said that you know I'm going to take you off and Cherokee just turned it on and then gave two, scored two goals, gave one assist and completely turned it around. So it's, they have these kinds of players
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: who can immediately turn it on. They have a Haaland who can bully just about everyone in the Premier League. So yeah, it's going to be a very tough day for United and I just hope the boys have the running in them. They've, You know, they've thought it through. They know they have to run like yards more than city, like yards and kilometers more than city if they stand a chance, if they want to stand a chance. And yeah, it's just how we respond to that.
Amogh: So one aspect of the United squad or the United team sheet of course, it's a topic on everybody's lips right now, is Benjamin Chesko. Alright, and this is a guy who had a decent start to his United career last season, but he was not... fully utilised as the absolute favourite number 9 striking option. Of course the club was also going through a lot of transition with the sacking of Amarim and Carrick coming in on an interim basis. So there was a lot of upheaval going on last season as well. He had an injury towards the end of the season which also curtailed his season a little earlier than expected. He's back from injury now. He has made an impact in both the games that he has featured in. That really begs the question now, do you play Shashko in this Manchester Dardie or do not? Because we also know that Carrick likes the front three of Rashford and Bumho and Pumio with Bruno behind him. He has played that attacking line-up far more frequently in the pre-empting league. But when Sheshko comes off the bench, he does give you that outlet. I think the question is, does he continue at least for this game to use Sheshko as a super sub option or does he reward this little bit of form that Sheshko finds himself in and give him a start against Man City?
Ronaq: So, you know, if it was me, it was I would honestly look at it as two completely different profiles of players. SESCO is obviously a target man. He can hold up the ball and you can be a target for crosses into the box. Whereas if you play Bomo or Cunha either or upfront in the middle, I think
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: it's going to be Cunha because he wants to play Rashford on the left because Rashford is
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: our best left finger right now. So when they play the front three of Kunia Rashford and Embermore, we have a very different, very flexible front three where either one can slot in into the centre, either one can go out wide and we have there's enough pace to hit them on the counter and the technical ability to pass. Now, if you see Sesko's last two games, although he has gotten to the end of the ball and scored the goal, I would still rate not rate his link up play very well. you know, very highly.
Amogh: you
Ronaq: He had a couple of misplaced passes even though was not getting the ball so often that he had to really pass the ball a lot. So even in a small sample size, he did misplace the ball a lot and I just think we can't afford that against City.
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: knowing City, we need to be prepared for those intricate passes to kind of press them hard and to hit them on the counter and for that hitting them on the counter we kind of need Kunia, Embermo and Rashford and getting Sesco
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: in the second half would be much better. Then we can actually use him as the target man to you know kind of then everyone kind of plays off of him depending
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: on what the result is in the second half. But
Amogh: I think I do agree with you slightly alternate comments in the chat. Astha Yadav, hello Astha, is saying that, SESCO should 100 % start, he is a proper striker, we need a giant like him to put pressure on the city in defense. Not wrong, but like Ronaq said and like I agree, I think that pressure can be put in the second half, after about 60 minutes. Get
Ronaq: Yeah. Yeah.
Amogh: the running that Mbombo and Kurnia and surprise surprise Rashford now in this season. get you and really stretch that city defense, ask questions of them and then once you face some tired legs in that defensive lineup that City have, that's when you bring on Cesko and start thinking balls into him. Because that's when the concentration is going to be at a low. That's when he's going to be unmarked or there is a chance that he will be largely unmarked in certain set-piece situations perhaps where can get that glorious tall head of his onto the ball. and back into the net. yeah, would, I do agree. feel like Shashko should, at least for this game, come off the bench.
Ronaq: And you know, also, also, let's not forget that he has just come back from a very big injury. It took him out from May all the way till the end of August to, know, really get him match fit. So it was a long injury. If it was in the middle of the season, we would have had a completely different narrative. Just because it was an off season, no one really had the eyes on Sesquad that time. And he kind of got away with his injury. But now character even in the UCL game, he just played him 60 even though he got the goal. You could, you know, potentially make the argument that, know, let him get minutes under his belt. But the idea was to protect him and not over exert. And the idea is against city you have to be over exerting you have to go into those hard tackles and you have to put pressure. And I think that is Cunha, Emberman, Rashford more than the element of Cisco and Emberman one other winger.
Amogh: Right, let's move on to Tottenham vs Everton. We are going to talk about a couple of teams which don't have European football. And then we will get to the European heavyweights a little later. But Tottenham vs Everton is to be fantastic. Everton love to spoil a party for sure. As we saw with the 2-2 draw against United. Will Everton beating Tottenham be spoiling the party or will Everton actually giving Tottenham a goal and subsequent three points be spoiling the party? Because... I really want Everton to pile more misery onto Tottenham. Because just because, and again, no hatred, like we don't, as United fans we have no beef with Tottenham even though they beat us in the Europa League. But
Ronaq: Yeah. Yeah.
Amogh: like they're a nothing club, right? Like we're not Arsenal where we have like a North London derby sort of situation with them. But because their season has started so catastrophically, we just wanted to continue. Because two seasons back to back, 17th makes, right?
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: third time's the charm. It would be fantastic to see one of the quote unquote big six, a team that was invited to play in the doomed European Super League to be relegated to the championship. That would be a fucking fantastic story. And just for the story, I just want this for the story.
Ronaq: And I mean, let's not forget, you have touted, Desirbi to be the first manager to get the sack. So.
Amogh: Yes, exactly, exactly. There's a lot riding on this, Everton. Everton, you're hearing David noise, I know you're listening to this. There's a lot riding on this. Do me a solid.
Ronaq: No, but you know, considering how Everton didn't get their deadline day transfers over the line, they still showed up against us. Although, you know, showing
Amogh: Yeah, exactly.
Ronaq: up against United is pretty much everyone does that. For some fuck reason, everyone's in the form of their
Amogh: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ronaq: life. You'll never hear of Maitland Niles again for the rest of the season. But yes, against us, he scored the fucking banger. So...
Amogh: Yeah. But to set up this game, This is Spurs' season so far. 3-0 loss against Brentford, 2-0 loss against Newcastle, 0-0 against Forrest. And they didn't even register a shot on target against Forrest, by the way. And now they are facing Everton, who have taken just 7 points from the last 51 available points. X-Purs. in their last how many ever meetings against us, 51 points of innings, they have only taken 7. So if Tottenham cannot beat this particular everting team at home.
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: Then this first fan base, is known to be very toxic, especially in recent times when they've just underperformed to a new level, they can seriously turn on the owners, the new owners now because Daniel Leary is gone. They can turn on the board, they can turn on the manager and I feel like my prophecy of Desert being the first manager to get the sack will be true.
Ronaq: You know, very well might be because we know that we can turn the dressing room really sour very quickly. He's a peculiar manager who's a good tactical mind, but I don't know if he's the best man manager. But not
Amogh: Yeah. No, I mean, I'll tell you, he's not. He's not. Some people wanted him at United and I was so happy that he was not considered. So happy.
Ronaq: Yeah, yeah. mean, you know, United, it's a completely different. think Eric is such a good fit for United just because he's so calm. He doesn't bite into those dirty reporting questions and all of that.
Amogh: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Ronaq: You need that. But, you know, getting back to Spurs, I honestly getting away from the hate, but I think they will grind out a win here. Everton is not the easiest team to beat because they have good defensive players in there. You know, Tarkovsky is a freaking stalwart. in their defense and they also got Branthwaite and Mikulenko and of course I think it's going to be Jack Grealish starting
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: the game for Everton so it obviously gives them a completely different dimension to their team so I think it'll be a tough game for Spurs but I do see them winning this
Amogh: Alright, but with Spurs, we are talking about Dzerbj being the first manager to get the sack, are talking about two back to back 17th place finishes and possibly a relegation this season considering the way they started. Mauricio Pochettino, did you hear his comments? Okay, this is brilliant.
Ronaq: No. What did he say?
Amogh: Alright, let me, this is brilliant. Mauricio Pochettino, since, let's say that Mauricio Pochettino has been one of the better managers in Spurs' recent history. He genuinely stamped his authority on that squad. He created a very good squad and them to the finals of the Champions League as well. It was a very good set up. That squad with Kher and so on, with Pochettino as the manager, that was the first team that looked like they were fighting somewhere. And then the downward slide began since they let Pochettino. But Pochettino obviously has a lot of love for Spurs still. He was asked about his ongoing and continued love for Tottenham and he said, and this is his quote, I am always open to help Tottenham in whatever division. In whatever division? Three game
Ronaq: Heavy.
Amogh: weeks in, what is he? Or three game weeks in, you're saying in whatever division?
Ronaq: What a dig man!
Amogh: Either he is either a very very big dick or he is fucking Nostradamus like he knows what is happening. No, I
Ronaq: Fumbilled. I think he just fumbilled it.
Amogh: don't think he is fumbled into it. I know
Ronaq: You
Amogh: all these people will hide under the English is not my first language.
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: But this is so on point for him not to have realized what it means. In whatever division that is called. Like, after Cole
Ronaq: That is...
Amogh: Palmer and Morgan Reuters started And they have no connection to Super Bowl. started I feel. Mental. Mental stuff.
Ronaq: I think what I still think is Spurs will you know obviously dig up some form from somewhere they have the players to do that and you know we've seen that players can have a bad run of form Spurs have had a horrible run of form no one has showed up but
Amogh: Yeah, yeah. This is not a background of form, man.
Ronaq: exactly but I think they'll turn it around I mean not turn it around they'll really come up into the Champions League spots but they'll be better than where they are right now. It's not really a shout as well. It's just
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: you can't do worse than where they are right now.
Amogh: Alright, let's go to Chelsea vs. Hull City, one of the biggest clubs in England are going to face Chelsea. So, it's going to be a fantastic sort of a scene because Hull City are third in the league. They've played three, they've won two, drawn one, conceded zero. Third in the table going into the weekend. Who would thought that Hull City would be in this position, right? But now comes the first huge test and I know they played United on the first day. We do not consider United as a huge test. We are
Ronaq: it
Amogh: United fans. We are very, very self-deprecating and realistic more than anything. This, however, against Chelsea is genuinely a big test for Hull because that clean sheet record that they have, conceded 0 in 3 games, that is seriously at risk against this Chelsea side who just love to score goals. They love to leak goals as well, but fuck do they love to score goals.
Ronaq: Yeah, so you talking about Hull City first of all, know, just defending United a bit the first opening game at home is always a buzz is always a curveball and they capitalized
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: on United not showing up. So, know all kudos to them. They got the set pieces right and they've absolutely got the win against us keeping three clean sheets in the Premier League not considering until until now is honestly, I think they've ridden the luck really hard. They have had about you know, 5.5 to 6 XGC if you follow any kind of stats, they should have considered 6 goals, 5.5, 6 goals by the numbers. They considered just 5 big chances across the game, which is, you know, in terms of the league average, it's fairly good. So they have defended well. I'm not taking anything away from them. But I think this is the game they concede and this is the game they lose because Chelsea is... You know, like we discussed for the game against Arsenal, Chelsea is chaos. There is no system against them that you can hold. Even they don't know what system they're playing. So
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: Chelsea is just pure chaos with quality. Now, even they don't know what the next move is going to be is what I feel when watching their games at times. So
Amogh: Yeah, absolutely.
Ronaq: it's absolutely fast-paced football. And I think Hala are going to really have a tough time defending against them. But you know, HULK at a set piece, I see them scoring as well because Chelsea is also shit in defending a lead. They conceded 3 against Leeds in the midweek. They scored 6. That's precisely what we spoke about the last time. They scored 6.
Amogh: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. That is is a chaos theory.
Ronaq: They scored 6 but they conceded 3 because they just don't care how many goals they concede, they have to score more. it.
Amogh: Yeah, yeah, but here's an interesting bit of stats, Like Chelsea have apparently failed to win their last four league games against promoted opposition. So there is some level of stats magic that is going in Hull City's favour. I say if Hull City win this, we should all get Hull City jerseys with champions written at the back. I think we should. I think...
Ronaq: I down for that. If Hull City win against Chelsea, next episode we are buying a Hull City jersey and wearing that. Done.
Amogh: Write in the where I Hull City Conjurcy in Okay done. Done. All respect to all. Because if
Ronaq: I find it out. All respect to HAL.
Amogh: you buying it from the official club shop, they will have to deliver it. They will have to ship it to India in time for... That's it.
Ronaq: No, man. I won't in the second hand. Like, copy of the jersey.
Amogh: You a hull with a fabric paint on But we'll see. We'll see how that goes. Right, let's go to Sunderland versus Arsenal. This is going to be another big one for Arsenal because it is
Ronaq: It's Sunderland Home. Yeah.
Amogh: Sunderland at home, yes. So this is going to be great because Arsenal also three league wins from three. They won 1-0 against Napoli in the Champions League. They won the Community Shield already. Five competitive wins to begin the campaign. But Sunderland are not a joke. last season if you remember at the stadium of light it was 2-2 the scoreline at Arsenal and Sunderland are also a team I feel like they like to spoil the party like we said about Everton they like to come to the big clubs and give them a game and the Sunderland squad definitely has something in
Ronaq: mean, historically Sunderland had broken the Jose Mourinho streak of not losing at Stamford Bridge. That was Sunderland who had beaten that streak. So historically they can do well or they can throw a not curveball in London. So that's something to look out for. But I mean, just Arsenal are a very well-drilled side, man. They don't, I think in their opening three games, they have considered less than one XGC. goals considered because that obviously Morgan Rogers scored a goal against them. But we also it was a chaotic set piece routine and then the ball ended up at the back of the net. But Arsenal are very well drilled. It will be a shock to them if Sunderland managed to find a goal out of open play. Obviously set pieces are different, a penalty or something else is different. But out of open play, I don't see Arsenal conceding a goal out of you know, pure Sunderland creativity. If that also happens, might be due to an asil error. That's how good asana have become defensively. And
Amogh: Thank
Ronaq: you know, that's just a testament to them.
Amogh: They did win 1-0 against Napoli but their flight to Naples was severely, severely delayed. And I think that just goes in with Arteta's latest psychological experiments because we know Miquel Arteta is a bit of a f**king crackpot when it comes to managing his team because he's used pickpockets in the past. I don't know if you remember this but he's used pickpockets around his players to teach vigilance. have to be aware guys. You have to always be aware. Your peripheral vision has to be great.
Ronaq: Vision. Dude's a visionary.
Amogh: You know, you remember from the documentary from All or Nothing where he played, you'll never walk alone in a training session because he wanted his players to get used to the Anfield atmosphere. The light bulb, the heart,
Ronaq: And then the Edison light bulb thing.
Amogh: the brain, all of that nonsense, right? But now, he has also revealed that he deliberately delays the team's meals, he changes travel arrangements, overheats dressing rooms, removes massage tables, creates artificial disruption. He is torturing his own team guys because he wants the players to be dealing with unforeseen stress.
Ronaq: I mean, it's honestly very weird. And honestly, with such a club, if you get the results, then everything works. Mourinho was considered to be one of the most chaotic managers in any of his clubs, but he was known to get results.
Amogh: Yeah. Yeah.
Ronaq: Come what may, would win and then he would get the result. He would bust up the dressing room. He would go
Amogh: to.
Ronaq: in and make his players take red cards after red cards, but he would get the result. So Artita has found a way to get the result and last season we have criticized Arsenal so much on their game style, on the gameplay, know just haram balling every single game. The referees kind of piling on to everyone else's misery with favouring Arsenal but now we are at a point where they have kind of you know they are not playing the same haram ball they are actually defending very well.
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: The referees have become kind of better they not letting haram ball slide. You know offensive disruptions in the penalty box during corners and all have become really they've become vigilant against that. So now I still actually playing football and now all they got is my respect and I think the favorites to win the Premier League. I don't know if they can get they can you know get on to the Champions League because this players in this teams like you know, there's Jose Mourinho's Madrid who I expect to do big things if he can get the dressing room under control. There's obviously PSG who are gunning for a three-peat, although I don't see that happening either. And there's obviously Bayern Munich, you all these three teams were mentioned are really hardcore attacking teams. And although Arsenal is a hardcore defensive team, I don't think against these teams, you know, it's just going to be a very tough match and tough ask for Arsenal to win all the competitions they're in.
Amogh: Let's go to Liverpool vs Fulham. Earlier in the Champions League Liverpool beat Atletico 2-1. after Atletico I think had gone 1-0 up. But before that earlier in the week Alexis McAllister had publicly said that he was very sad that Liverpool hadn't offered him a new contract and he had options to leave in the summer. So this has been a long saga with McAllister because he's not really been in the best of form this season for Liverpool and considering the midfield is one of the big talking points in that Liverpool squad where Soposla is having to do all the work and they clearly understaffed in that area of the pitch. were, Liverpool fans would have been expecting Alexis McAllister to actually step up and show what he's made of. And then he decided to talk about his contract, or if another club had not offered him a contract and how he was very sad about it. But Atletico, again, he's the one who smashed the winner from 20 yards. Absolutely beautiful goal, which basically
Ronaq: Uh-uh.
Amogh: means that you don't need, like this is how you negotiate a new... You don't need an agent. You just need to go into an interview and say I am very sad guys and then bang one in.
Ronaq: That's what Benzema did all these years at Madrid. Whenever he was coming close to his contract running out or know there was talks about his contract extension or not extending he would be in the form of his fucking life. He would start banging in the goals and then a new contract would be on the table. It's just how life works. So if he's figured that out then kudos to him. But yeah man, it's a difficult ask for any player.
Amogh: Yeah, absolutely. now when it comes to Liverpool vs Fulham, course, Andoni Erawala is meeting the man who is currently following the same trajectory as Erawala at Bournemouth. Because if you remember correctly, Erawala at Bournemouth didn't win any of his first nine Premier League matches. And unfortunately, Alvaro Arboloa for Fulham finds himself in a similar situation because he's played three and lost three by conceding seven goals. So, know, while they've they've created enough chances. It's just that... They haven't had the experience or the tactical knowledge to actually close the game out. And they keep leaking in those goals and they are not having a good time of it under this new manager. Especially after Marco Silva's reign ended and Marco Silva was such a stable manager for full. I think it's going to be a fairly easy, easy day at the office for Liverpool.
Ronaq: So see Liverpool obviously are going to find a way to win.
Amogh: you
Ronaq: They have way too many attacking players way too many good quality attacking players. Isaac has been in top form. Wurz is yet to find his form but if anyone's a Liverpool fan and they watch Florian Wurz play he doesn't have the best output but he has an impact. It's not that he is non-existent on the field. So apart from that there's
Amogh: Say your favourite line. You know there's a player in the way.
Ronaq: There's a player there. Yeah, there is a player in there. But now obviously he has the runners around him. has the likes of Bradley Barkula, the likes of Victor Munoz and they've held on to Gakpo which I think is going to do wonders for them. Like if they would have let Gakpo go to city Liverpool would have been in major major trouble. So it's good that they've held on to him and I think Liverpool will obviously find a way to win and I don't think Eraw last time at Bournemouth should be compared to his time at Liverpool. I think in his time at Bournemouth, didn't have the best of teams that he inherited. Then he got in the right players and made a team out of them and had one of the best seasons in Bournemouth last season, even though he sold some men your midway through. So Eraw was a good manager. I don't know if he can really make it in Liverpool, but that's something to be seen. Now talking about Arbelova. him I'm not convinced with although he plays a decent brand of football. He plays attacking football, they make chances and he's gotten good players from Madrid. He's got that Garcia guy and all the
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: good players but even when he got the Madrid job, you know, obviously no one was convinced of his abilities to kind of make it in one of the biggest jobs in world football.
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: And then obviously to come into full him. The Premier League just flat out is a very difficult league to start out as a manager. It's just very difficult. If you
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: can't figure it out soon, it'll batter you down. And anyone and everyone like Hull City battered United 2-0 in the opening day. it's just you don't know what's coming your way and he's got to figure it out. I don't know if he's kind of got it in him. Like, know, even Karek, he's a young manager, but he he had his time in Middlesbrough. He did his due diligence, paid his dues to get this job and then even this was an interim job that he landed. And then he made the job good and then he got the full-time job. So, Arbelov's got an uphill battle for him and Liverpool is going to do him no favors this weekend. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, 100%.
Amogh: It's like they are newly promoted team. They have pedigree.
Ronaq: So know, Nottingham Forest's latest signing, some duo Monday guy, the defender, he came into the club as a signing and then he was having a tour of the facilities and then he saw the UCL trophies there. And then he's like, is this real? And he didn't know. So that was...
Amogh: These kids these no idea about clubs history. But, yeah, exactly, but the
Ronaq: I mean, club is signed for, man. Basically, Wikipedia and what's and what's not.
Amogh: good thing is that Nicholas Jackson got all his, got on his course sheet for... for Aston Villa against Brugger because they are going to lean heavily on him now that Olly Watkins has departed for Ranji Valley. Because we know how much of a goal threat Olly Watkins was, especially combining with Morgan Rogers, who was also there. So they are really looking for a replacement in that regard because I don't find it surprising at all that Villa haven't scored. When you lose Watkins and Rogers who have been so instrumental in your attack for the last couple of seasons, it's going to be very hard for them to replicate that.
Ronaq: And you know, historically, Ollie Watkins has never scored a Premier League goal in August. And he's been in the Premier
Amogh: wow.
Ronaq: League for so many years. just historically Aston Villa don't play well in August. And it's just they don't start well. And I do see them kind of coming in now. The players are coming back. Of course, Nicholas Jackson is there. John McGinn is a freaking stall lord. He's a club captain. I love that guy. Although he's not the most flashy players, but he does a job man. He does a job for the team and it's gonna be tough. It's gonna be a good game actually more than anything because it's Unai Emery versus Oliver Glasner. Both of them have won several things for their clubs, you know, in their managerial career. Both of them are really good managers and highly respected managers. both with new, mean, Glasner with a new team, Unai Emery with a team in flux, you know, lot of changes into the team. You know, Garnacho's been getting in minutes, stuff like that. it's...
Amogh: I don't, I mean, how Alejandro Garnacho has made this move happen and why they've signed him also. Like that, that shows you how desperate Aston Villa are. That they are willing to take a punt on.
Ronaq: I mean you can make the same argument why they signed Jayden Sancho and I think it's the same trajectory and I don't know why Aston
Amogh: Correct.
Ronaq: Villa kinda hope that Unai Emery is gonna make something out of these players but...
Amogh: I'm telling you, I'm telling you, Astagullah and Gunaya Mehreen, that one girl, I can change him. He is terrible, he is toxic,
Ronaq: Hehehehehe
Amogh: he treats me badly, but I can change him guys. It It doesn't happen. Everyone has this. You can ask United. Ask United. mean, of course, now that we've sold him, can tell you the truth. But while the deal was going on, I'm sure
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: everybody at the tournament is a fantastic character. He never leaks team news. His family is top notch. then,
Ronaq: You
Amogh: like, all the right things would have been said. But,
Ronaq: you
Amogh: my God. This and Mikhailov,
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: like, Garnachot, Uvila, I can still kind of understand.
Ronaq: Mudrik also again injured, know, just by the way.
Amogh: Of course, I am not surprised because I am telling you there is something up with Spurs' doctors. They are doing some medical research on the Spurs players. That is their actual... I
Ronaq: It's an internal plot.
Amogh: am telling you it is their real source of income. Football is not their source of income. Football is side project. They get all of these players as assets to become human guinea pigs in some clinical trials. That's what we making money from. I writing it
Ronaq: Heavy, heavy. But I mean, also talking about Nottingham Forest, we're going to see De Lapp starting for them again. It's
Amogh: Yes.
Ronaq: going to be interesting how he does. He didn't have the best of games in his opening couple of games at Nottingham Forest, but I think again, my famous line, there is a player there. I
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: think he can do well in a team that has fairly lower expectations than Chelsea.
Amogh: 100%. I feel like Liam Dillap is a very good mid table premier league striking option. And I feel like
Ronaq: Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
Amogh: Forrest is the best move for him because again, he's getting to work under Oliver Glasner. What Glasner did with Sean Philippe Mateta, Liam Dillap will want that to be replicated with him because that will really resurrect his career. If he can matetify Liam Dillap. Yeah.
Ronaq: Motetify!
Amogh: It's a term guys, it's a term. Look it up. If we can magnify
Ronaq: Nice!
Amogh: Liam Dillap, then my God, what a source for goals Liam Dillap can be. Because we saw it
Ronaq: Yeah. Yeah.
Amogh: at Ipswich. We saw that he is a good player at Ipswich. We saw some flashes of it when he was at City as well. Of course he was a young player at City. So didn't get too
Ronaq: Mm.
Amogh: many minutes. But we knew, like you say, there was a player in there. So it's
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: just, I just feel like the Chelsea move was career suicide for him. He should not have gone to Chelsea. There was no reason.
Ronaq: I mean he was third choice when he went there right? was behind Jackson, behind Joe Pedro. It was never gonna happen for him. Salman Bahadur.
Amogh: Exactly. Exactly. Ishaan is saying no Salman Bhai today. This is how we make up for the lack of Salman Bhai.
Ronaq: Hehehehehe
Amogh: But no, so I'm just saying, I feel like De Lappen will definitely come good under Klaessner. But while we're talking about De Lappen being a fantastic outlet for goals, let's talk about our FPLs, because this time finally the deadline is not 11pm on a Friday. It is
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: not games start on Saturday itself. Let me show you my team. I got... 60 points last season, last season I'm saying, last game week, which is a little
Ronaq: Nice. Last season. Nice.
Amogh: over average, but you know, not great I would say. But this is my squad right now. I haven't gone to the pick team yet. The good thing is I have three free transfers. So I've really saved up on these transfers. Triple captain Dharan in the last game week like most of us did was kind of disappointed with just the one goal return, but we'll take what we get I guess.
Ronaq: Hmm.
Amogh: Let's bench boost today This the fixtures but I will So this is the tip, this is the liner. Goh Bruggen against commentary on the bench.
Ronaq: Is it just me or is your voice cutting? Can someone in the comments tell us?
Amogh: If my voice is cutting in the comments, please let us know. But my bench is Wobrugan against commentary, Arunson against Newcastle, Leif Davis against Crystal Palace and Dassilva against Brighton. Double.
Ronaq: I honestly couldn't follow what you said. I just heard Newcastle vs Brighton. a
Amogh: shit. Is it better now?
Ronaq: There is some static ok.
Amogh: Is it better now?
Ronaq: Yeah, it is better now.
Amogh: Okay, So I'm saying, Drobrukhan against Coventry, Arun Senanth against Newcastle, Leif Davis against Crystal Palace and Dasilva against Brighton. That's my bench. But of course I have three free transfers so can get some movements done.
Ronaq: you have three free transfers. Beautiful. Even you rolled. Nice.
Amogh: Yes. Yes.
Ronaq: So, I mean, I would firstly, I would take out Broby and Thiago honestly from there and
Amogh: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ronaq: kind of get new players in, know, pile in on Chelsea who have good
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: fixtures. This is kind of gimmick four was the turn in fixtures for Chelsea. You got
Amogh: Okay.
Ronaq: Arsenal out of the way and you can get Chelsea in and that's what I did. Even I had three free transfers. I Gordon Cole Palmer and I took out
Amogh: Jimmy.
Ronaq: Bruno actually we'll get to it when I when we get to my team. But yeah, I don't think you should pay the bench boost right now because you're going to make the changes. And maybe you can keep the bench boost for another day maybe sometime after the wild card. But if you just want to get it out of the way, it's not the worst way to
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: play the bench boost for you.
Amogh: That's what I'm thinking. I want to get it out of the way because a lot of players, a lot of players have already used the bench post. So I'm thinking it
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: will be a differential chip for me this week.
Ronaq: Yeah, I mean, it's honestly, it's subjective on each team. There's no right week to play the bench boost. But does Arunson play all the minutes for leads?
Amogh: think so. I think so.
Ronaq: If you've got the players who play 90 on your bench, think you can play it. Coventry away for Brighton is also decent.
Amogh: Let's see, let's see. Okay, so Aaronson not really had a great return, 3 points, 1 point, 1 point. So he is not, I guess he is not really playing all the minutes. Yeah, 28 against Brighton, 45. Yeah, not great, not great. Yeah, so maybe
Ronaq: Yeah, exactly. 614528. Yeah. Yeah.
Amogh: Aaronson is also somebody I take out.
Ronaq: Yeah, you can like you if you have three free transfers, you can play around with it. Of course, Sangare one of the 1000 Sangare's, like Brentford Sangare is a good cheap option to go for. You know, although he was hooked at 45 last week, and he had a kind of kind of a difficult game. But in general, he's a solid player. He's good for Defcon. even if he doesn't do anything, any attacking returns, he'll give you Defcon. So you know, you've got a solid baseline of four, and that's good enough for the bench. So that's someone you can look at. I also took out Solis. So just because of the minutes risk, you know, but you know, he's gonna play my only
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: main issues in your team is just no Chelsea, Broby needs to go and if you
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: if you're If you are inclined towards the bench boost then you need to kind of work on your bench as well with those transfers.
Amogh: Yeah. No, so I'm thinking Thiago, Robbie and Aronson are out. And I get some Chelsea assets and, you know, a nice differential for the bench.
Ronaq: So I would say if you can manage it somehow, then go Vissa and Joe Pedro in place of Thiago and Broby because both of them are really good to keep in your team for the next so many weeks. Both are very focal to the team. just need Chelsea and Vissa has been so good for Newcastle.
Amogh: Yeah. Yeah. All right. Let's see your team then. Let's see your team. What are you planning?
Ronaq: second yeah
Amogh: By way, if you guys have any of your own FPL questions, you can also ask Ronek his FPL guru. So, you he will answer. have some time before we wrap up.
Ronaq: I mean not Guru but I do the research I can at least tell you I'll give you information then you can
Amogh: Exactly.
Ronaq: take your own decisions can you see my screen?
Amogh: And he guarantees that it will work. So if it doesn't work for you, then you can reach out to him at ronakotamse on Instagram. Spam him, spam him and tell him, fucker, you told
Ronaq: I don't guarantee jack shit, why you doing that?
Amogh: me to keep Harland on my bench without using bench post and he scored a hat-trick against Manchester United. What the fuck?
Ronaq: Who the fuck is keeping Harland on the bench? Who the fuck is doing that? Bring the bench first, you're in front of him. But yeah, getting into my team. You know, even I had rolled for the first three game weeks, I didn't make a single transfer. Finally, I got in Moharemovic instead of Joe Rodon. I took a 0.1
Amogh: He's injured,
Ronaq: hit there. Yeah, Joe Rodon was injured if I had to take him in. take him taken him out sooner on Friday basically when the game week started the last game week I would have saved point one on him his price dipped and then I made the transfer so I got in more Emovich Gordon Palmer and I got in Morgan Gibbs White and I took out Bruno Fernandez took out Zolis from our cell and then obviously Joe road on so here I do have a couple of benching headaches.
Amogh: So tell me about this... Tell me about this Bruno Bruno thing
Ronaq: So I mean, next two fixtures are not the best for United. It's City at home and then Fulham away. We know Bruno is brilliant at home, but then again, City at home and then Fulham away. You know, I didn't want to keep two United midfielders and I more than that, I wanted Palmer and
Amogh: Okay.
Ronaq: I could have basically gone a different way with taking out Emberman, then getting in Morgan Rogers. But I just wanted Palmer so much that I had to kind of hook Bruno. spread his money around and you know it took out Bruno and Zolis and then got Palmer and Gibbs White and I think that's a very good deal in terms of solid minutes both of them are on penalties both of them are
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: critical to their team and you know neither of them have Champions League or any of that sort so you know really solid players in their team so that
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: was just my thinking for them and I am planning to play my wild card in Gameweek 6 so why Mohr Amovic someone would ask is he has two back-to-back home games in Newcastle at home and Crystal Palace at home. He just got on the score sheet against Chelsea in the midweek if I'm not wrong. I think he got a goal. So he has some attacking threat. He's decent for Defcon. If you see his last couple of games, he got six against Nottingham Forest in Gameweek one and then Defcon in both the previous matches. So even though no clean sheets for the baseline is four points. I like that. And just a shoe in into my team. Now, my major headache is, do I bench Bomo or, you know, do I keep him in for someone? The obvious answer would be to keep him in for Gomez. But you know, Gomez has been really good. He's passed the eye test if one is to say for, you know, for Brighton. So I just think he can get on the score sheet. can have some attacking return and Bermoggan City, you know, like with United, he is very focal to the United's attack. He plays all the games. Amad is injured. We know he's going to get
Amogh: Yeah. Yeah.
Ronaq: in the full 90. So I do think I'll play him, but I just don't know for whom. So it might just be Calvert-Lune or something, but even I don't, I don't
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: like taking out attackers, especially players who playing at home. Like Calvert-Lune is Newcastle at home. I'm not a fan of taking him in. taking him out. Maybe it might be Gomez and I just, kind of back Ember more.
Amogh: It would be great if you had not used your bench boost in the first game week of the season and you had it right now.
Ronaq: My first game week of the my bench boost was freaking brilliant. I have no qualms
Amogh: Hahaha!
Ronaq: about that. Now the only big issue is now fucking Kinski. Two game weeks I kept him opening two game weeks. He didn't do jack shit. I took him out for the third game week. He gave six points and Verbruggen opening two games. didn't open me gave six but then third me he just gave three. So now I'm again in that same dilemma Verbruggen or Kinski. Who the fuck do I start? And I just think I'm going to go with Verbruggen because I can't get myself to field in Kinski again. I just can't.
Amogh: No, but I feel like it's still a logically sound choice because commentary are begging for votes. It's not going to be... I know things can change. But with the three games sample size that we have, it can be safe to assume that commentary will again find it hard to score. And Wuburgen is a good keeper. Brighton are a good team in keeping teams like commentary out, right? So we can assume that Wuburgen has more chances of keeping a clean sheet. Whereas Kinski
Ronaq: to keep a clean sheet, 100%.
Amogh: is playing against Everton.
Ronaq: Everton. Everton at home.
Amogh: Spurs are a team that can go up against Everton.
Ronaq: Spurs are team not to be backed. Basically.
Amogh: Yeah, Spurs are not a team. Spurs are not a team. But, no, but this is the thing, Like, Eviter have one striker in their squad after the deadline day fiasco that they had, right? One striker
Ronaq: Yeah. Yeah.
Amogh: in their squad and they can still probably, there is still a chance that they will score against this Spurs side. So, I feel like, yeah, Skinsky
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: on the bench for this one is the way to go.
Ronaq: And I think like the final discussion is just around Captain C. I'm going to go with Palmer or Joe Petro. Like one of the two. I've still not decided between the two, but it's going to be Chelsea for Captain C. Yeah.
Amogh: Yeah, Haaland against United is not a good bet for captaincy for sure.
Ronaq: It's just kept there since last week. But yeah, I'm gonna go with Palmer.
Amogh: No, no, but I'm saying because because no I'm not saying I'm not taking a direct dig at you man like I'm just saying that because Harind is generally
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: captain choice for most FPL players but to have him captain against United because he's historically not really had a great deal of joy in the Darts. He's not. Right, United have been fair and I can't believe I'm saying this touch. Hopefully I'm not jigsawing but United have... When?
Ronaq: Brother, he scored a hat-trick against us couple years back.
Amogh: This is PTSD. I don't remember.
Ronaq: Haaland has a very good record against United.
Amogh: I don't think, why do I not remember this? I don't think he has a very good record against you. I feel like Harry Maguire and Lizarra Martinez will keep him quiet.
Ronaq: So see, one thing I know for sure is Haaland is the only player in football history to score hat-tricks in back-to-back halves of football. So he scored a hat-trick against Nottingham Forest in the second half and then the following game was United. This is back in the treble winning season. And he got a first half hat-trick against United.
Amogh: That's precisely why I don't remember. I don't remember City winning a treble. There's only one English team that has done the treble.
Ronaq: If you remember, that game, Harland and 14 were both high treks, if you remember.
Amogh: No, no, I don't remember. But yes, Ishaan Mehta and
Ronaq: Yeah, I do, unfortunately.
Amogh: the comments have said that he is gambling with Bruno and this week he is thinking of making Alexander Isak captain. Which is an interesting shout, which is an interesting shout against Fulham
Ronaq: Yeah. No, one.
Amogh: at home. Isak has been in good form, he is finally justifying that price tag.
Ronaq: Yeah, no, I mean, you Isaac at nine, 9.5 is a very good striker to have. And if you don't have Harland, it's just, is this just shoe in in your team? It has to be there. So now why Isaac has not found his way in most teams is it's just this template of having Harland the prime striker, then having Joe Pedro, like a 7.5 million striker, and then having a 6 million striker. It's just a template that works best because you have so many strikers in these categories.
Amogh: Yeah. Yeah.
Ronaq: Now when you put in Isaac is just an additional 2 million from the Joe Pedro's price and you need Joe Pedro like you need Joe Pedro in your team. So then it
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: mean you have three premium strikers. That is why people have kind of avoided Isaac when they have Harland as well. But
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: Isaac is a great shout this week at home against Fulham. Fulham have not looked particularly good. They've considered a lot of goals. Liverpool have looked very good. in attack, they look like they're getting the groove back, they're kind of getting in the goals and Isaac has been in top form. So there's no way you captain Bruno over Isaac this week. There's just no way
Amogh: the eye.
Ronaq: that happens.
Amogh: Yeah, yeah, fair enough. Right, on that note, it is time to end this episode. Thank you so much, everybody, for watching. Thank you, everybody, for listening.
