Amogh: Hello and welcome to the corner flag, it's a Monday and it's a beautiful Monday especially if you're a United fan. Say hello to Ronaq and say hello to Nathan who we are going to be talking about everything Gameweek 2 but predominantly Manchester United in Gameweek 2 because how could we not? How's it going boys? Nathan, Ronaq? I'm sorry, I'm just very happy. I'm wearing a United jersey as well. A good day has guys!
Nathan: It's going great.
Ronaq: It's crazy how much difference one week can make.
Nathan: Yeah.
Amogh: crazy indeed Nathan will not yeah and he was got it late he cannot why what is
Nathan: Can't relate, but great. No, life is good otherwise. Actually, no, sorry, it's a Monday. Fuck remember last week we decided last week we all collectively agreed that Mondays are the worst. So so yeah, Mondays
Amogh: Mondays are the worst that is true, that is true.
Nathan: Sunday is sun who Sunday Sunday worst, Sunday is also bad one, you know. Sunday kept Monday.
Amogh: And your Monday will get even worse now if Arsenal beat Villa and later tonight 12.30 am kick off.
Ronaq: Which they ideally should or will
Nathan: See, I'm honestly looking forward to the India vs West Indies ODI series. You know,
Amogh: Of course.
Nathan: so yeah, like it doesn't matter if Arsenal win, Aston Villa win. I'm waiting to watch Shuman Gil. That's his name, no? Yeah.
Amogh: Okay, yes. I think for you we need to start a cricket podcast now. Yeah.
Nathan: Yeah. But yeah, yeah. So otherwise nice weekend. Friday night was
Amogh: Nice.
Nathan: nice, Saturday was manageable. Yeah.
Amogh: And we'll get to what made your weekend not so nice and not so relatable in a bit. But we'll start off guys with Newcastle beating Spurs again. I mean, this is ridiculous, Like Spurs fans look away right now. You spent three 20 million pounds over the summer to buy zero goals and zero points with five goals conceded. Rock bottom of the Premier League. We were saying that Roberto Zerbi is going to turn this first team around after he saved them from relegation last season. came in, he did the Sam Aladai's job. But this new season has not gone according to plan.
Ronaq: I mean, not got
Nathan: Yeah.
Ronaq: according to plan is an understatement. I think it's gone as worse as it possibly could. I mean, opening you you'd at least want them to score a goal.
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: They haven't managed to find the back of the net even once across 180 minutes. Now
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: that is worrying. And obviously shipped in five goals. defense is the area where they've
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: really strengthened with like three center backs and you know. Even getting in Robertson, Pedro Coro who just won the World Cup, is in top form. was in top form, but
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: yeah, it just looks in shambles right now.
Amogh: How quickly do you think the Spurs fans, so I think must have turned on the manager already, but how quickly do you think he's going to lose the dressing room because we knew that Dazerby is a volatile character. We have seen that from his time at Brighton as well as Marseille. So it was always going to be a very risky, high risk, high reward and very high chances of abject failure sort of appointment.
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: Two games into the new season and I think he He will have maybe till game week 5 things go like this.
Ronaq: I mean, I'm obviously assuming that they are going to at least muster
Amogh: No.
Ronaq: a win in the next five games. I mean, if you if anyone here comes and predicts that Spurs are gonna lose the first five games of the Premier League season, I don't think anyone's gonna believe that. So
Amogh: I mean, Nitin, do think that is a prediction that you can stand by as per as to lose the first five games of this season?
Nathan: Nah nah, no chance, dude. I watched a little bit of the second half of that game. They did have a few moments of really good passing, but that final pass was just not going through. I think they'll win w okay, let's you know what? Let's check the remaining fixtures. That I think we should do that first. Let me give me one second.
Amogh: Yeah. See, my thing is, my thing is, what you said is absolutely right, Noronaj, that to not have scored a single goal across 180 minutes is absolutely suicidal. And they're not going
Nathan: Yeah. That is worrying.
Amogh: to, they're not going to be able to score goals if Mathias tells hits free kicks like the way he did. mean, what the hell was that?
Ronaq: I mean Tel had an absolute stinker, huh? He wasn't passing the ball into Marmoush, he was ta trying to take on the defenders, wasn't really able to do that effectively and produce any output. And
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: I think he just had a stinker of a game.
Amogh: Can we say that Mathias went
Nathan: Yeah, I was I knew it. I was we all saw that coming. At least I hope. I was right there, dude.
Ronaq: Pretty much.
Nathan: Tell us what is tell us what is the wrong
Amogh: See the... See the beauty of a good joke is even when you see it coming you end up laughing which I hope people are when they watch this, listen to this, But
Nathan: Yeah.
Amogh: speaking of Deserby also guys, he has also said in his comments that you cannot buy the mentality in the transfer market. I'm saying, sir, you have spent 320 million pounds in the transfer market. Mentality is obviously one of the things that you should be looking out for.
Nathan: Yeah dude.
Amogh: And...
Nathan: And there are some banger signings. Some really good names, dude.
Amogh: Banger Ceres. Yeah.
Nathan: Hmm.
Amogh: Let's go over the signings that they've made. Like Robertson.
Nathan: Yeah.
Amogh: They've signed Marco Sinesi who had a great season with Bournemouth last season. They've
Nathan: Yeah, I forgot about him.
Ronaq: Paul Van Heck. What yeah.
Amogh: Jean Paul Van Hecke who had a great season with Brighton.
Nathan: Who's a guy from Newcastle, Tonali?
Amogh: Sandro Tonali, they've got Mateus Fernandez, they've got Omar Marmouch and
Ronaq: Savinio
Amogh: Savino.
Nathan: Mammo shudd sa yeah.
Amogh: seven
Nathan: So
Amogh: on paper quality players.
Nathan: Dude, since we're already on this, I I just looked at their fixtures. They are playing Forest Away next. I think that could be a draw. Okay, it's then they are playing Everton at home. okay, I've not exactly watched Everton, so I will assume this is a win for them. Then I'm talking about league, then they play Villa at home. That again could be a draw. And then they play United away. So I I don't I think I don't see a win coming anytime soon for them.
Amogh: I might say that the United might be a win because the Spurs are our bogey team.
Ronaq: Yeah they
Nathan: However the
Ronaq: Yeah, they they have a very good record against us in the recent past. It's it's horrible.
Nathan: un That's true. But they do play
Amogh: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Nathan: Liverpool away in the Karabao Cup third round. So that could be the win.
Amogh: Are we saying that Liverpool is going to crash out of the Karabakh Cup?
Nathan: I am saying yes, I am calling it now only. I am calling it now. Lickelello.
Amogh: How quickly the hope dies out, na Ronaq?
Nathan: Yo, you know, clip this. Clip clip this. See no, because I'm I've seen I've seen this picture, I've seen this movie before. Okay, we are gonna crash out early. And then our fans will be like, we'll we'll focus on the league. You know, now that we are out of one cup competition, we have time to focus on the FA Cup Champions League. Champ okay compared to our Champions League fixtures are pretty decent, so okay. but yeah, we are losing that match. worst case we are gonna be losing on penalties, but we are losing that match.
Amogh: worst Florian worst case.
Nathan: I I hope the I hope the ha I hope the reverse drinks works.
Amogh: Okay.
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: But let's talk about the signings that Spurs have made. And I mentioned this last season when we were doing the podcast last season as well. Which is that the problem with Spurs, feel, amongst many things that are wrong with the club, is I don't know what the fuck their medical team is doing. Because look at the number of injuries they have suffered right from the tenures of even Mourinho. I think you can go as far back as the Mourinho tenure. the number of injuries that they have suffered. Like right now, I still don't know where Kulusevsky is. Where is Deshaan Kulusevsky? He has just gone missing. I
Nathan: yeah, shit.
Amogh: mean, and he, when he started off at Spurs,
Nathan: Forward is a player.
Amogh: he had such a good start to his Spurs career. was,
Nathan: Underrange.
Amogh: yeah, and he was so genuinely good. He was a genuinely good attacking threat and he's just nowhere to be seen. James Madison, again, what is he doing? Where is he? He's gotten injured again. But the icing on the cake is you've just signed Savino from Manchester City and he has already been injured. Like he was not playing this match because of muscle fatigue. What is going on in that medical department at Spurs?
Ronaq: Yeah, honestly, it's baffling. The number of injuries they've had over the past few seasons, and the injuries have been quoted as the reason for their seventeenth place finish in at least one of those seasons. So
Amogh: Yeah. Yeah.
Ronaq: yeah, it's you have to question the medical department. But also coming back to the signings, I on paper they look banging signings. Like you would
Amogh: Yeah, exactly.
Ronaq: assume that they have strengthened in every single you know, almost every position on the pitch. And they already had a few decent players, they should have been doing better than you know what they are. And the the worst part is as you said that Deserbi is a very volatile manager, and if he doesn't think the players are showing up, it can get SAR pretty quickly there.
Amogh: Yeah, absolutely. And the other thing that Dzerbi has also said about the players are the outgoings. Right? Like he has gone on and said that Richarlison has told him multiple times that he wants to leave. He's gone on and said that Pape Matar Saar has told him he wants to leave and he is likely on his way out.
Nathan: Yeah.
Ronaq: Yeah yeah. Even Danzo. Yeah, Kevin Danzo.
Amogh: You know, this is not a happy dressing room. Even Kevin Danso, this is not a happy dressing room already and we're only two game weeks in. So you know it is ridiculous.
Ronaq: Hmm. Yeah. See, I mean Danzo and actually all three I kinda get because all three are now fringe players. They all those three positions have been you know, recruited for pretty heavily for Spurs. So I there is pretty much no room for these three players. And
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: Going on record and s saying that these pe players have asked me to kind of you know get out of the club, it's a little weird. We we don't really hear managers saying that. But
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: yeah, let's see if I think Matasar has already gotten a move, I think, to Juventus or someplace, I'm not sure.
Amogh: Yeah, I think so, yeah.
Ronaq: But the rest we'll see. The rest I think Rich Allison is in talks.
Amogh: Back to Everton.
Ronaq: Yeah, and Elimin NGI.
Nathan: yeah, is that happening?
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: I don't think so because Rich Allison, I don't think he would l want to go. I don't know if he would want to go.
Amogh: No, he's, I feel like Richarlison is aching to go back to Everton because at Everton he was also loved. Right, he had a very good relationship
Ronaq: Definitely, but
Amogh: and he had a good time at Everton as well. He was quite good at Everton.
Ronaq: No, but also if you think from Everton's perspective, they're losing their best player in Illiman
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: NGI and they're gonna get Rich Allison and some money on top, how
Amogh: See ya.
Ronaq: are they going to figure the rest of the season out?
Amogh: But I guess the way to look at it is if your best player has decided that he wants to do it. I feel like it's a bad decision on India's part to go to Tottenham when they are
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: in this situation. He could actually become legendary at Everton. He could actually help them move up the Premier League table, maybe get into Europe as well. For him to want to move to Spurs is a very weird thing to begin with. But yeah, like if I were in Everton's place... If my best player has said to me that he wants to leave for fresh challenging, there is an offer from Spurs and I'm getting Richard Lisson who has history with the club, has some sort of connection, can probably reignite his career here plus money on top. I guess it's an offer that you can't refuse really.
Ronaq: Hmm. Yeah, it is interesting. We'll see what happens in the transfer market. But the biggest lull is that United who actually bloody needs players. We've seen Luke Shaw have howlers in the past two games, and we just are not recruiting. I don't know why.
Amogh: We don't know.
Nathan: Relatable.
Amogh: Yeah, I mean, you cannot say relatable to this when you just unveiled Bradley Varkola. You cannot. You cannot say.
Nathan: That's just one dude. That's just one which that saga has been going on for two months. And now sorry. Now they've announced it I almost dropped my ring light.
Amogh: That's fine, that's fine. Just influencer problems. But no, right? Suffering
Nathan: Yeah. Can't suffering from success. Sorry.
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: from success indeed. United, let's talk about United because 5-2 against Ipswich, raw, right? my God, like we were having this conversation last night when the game was going on. I was in the depths of depression at the start of the game and Leaf Davis made it
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: 1-0 to Ipswich because FBL related. I have Leaf Davis on my bench.
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: And I was like, this is going to be terrible. I the captaincy to Bruno from Haaland has scored two goals. Now we have one goal down and Leif Davis is the scorer. He's on my bench. I'm missing out on those seven whatever points. And then Bruno Fernandez just decided, I Bruno. I this game the caller and beat him And I am going to own this game. This is my house. This is Old Trafford. Fuck everyone.
Ronaq: You know, I honestly the opening 20, 30, 40 minutes, I was I was watching the match in some different rage almost. I was like, fuck, I know this. I've seen this before. Like, you know,
Nathan: Ha ha.
Ronaq: I can see that there's no fucking fire in this team.
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: And it's a lul. And then obviously we go one-nil down. And then the first goal, you have to remember that first goal came from a player slipping. And it was a defensive mistake in the attacking half, and they were left.
Amogh: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Ronaq: light behind, and obviously Bruno made the run and Cunha with a brilliant ball. But
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: I if that slip doesn't come, the result of the game is very different, I think, in my opinion. Because
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: that goal ignited United's play. After
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: that goal, we were attacking, we
Nathan: Yeah.
Ronaq: were always on the attack, we were constantly in their half. And before that, that really wasn't the case. We were not that direct. We only
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: player who was in who had the intensity was Rashford. And I I and obviously Menu, but the first half Menu and T-Lemens. I was talking with my friends that you know he's these boats don't have the legs to cover the midfield as a pair. And yeah, Mainu just absolutely stepped it up in the second
Nathan: Okay.
Ronaq: half. And Rashford was so good, so good. He just had that intensity about him.
Amogh: I mean there is the football cliché, you game of two halves and this was essentially
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: that because the first half United just were not awake, were not at the races. Everyone That goal was a wake-up call. But if there is one thing that I can observe and mention on this podcast is that the Michael Carrick hairdryer exists. Because he has...
Ronaq: Yeah, we'll see it in the all or nothing. hundred percent.
Amogh: We'll see it in the All-O-Rathee because Karek the half time because the team that came out in the second half was different. Like we bossed every
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: statistic possible in the second half. Ipswich had nothing left to give. It was all united all the way. And the other thing that I really found endearing and heartening and optimistic is how we didn't stop. Right till
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: the very end, we got 8 minutes of stoppage time when we 5 goals up or rather 5-1 Exactly, we were not
Ronaq: Yeah. And we had three chances in those eight minutes. Yeah. Yeah.
Amogh: stopping, we were like this is... We are going to humiliate this team We are
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: not going to take it easy just because the game is done and dusted And that is the kind of mentality that very honestly I haven't seen from Man United in a very long time, I
Nathan: Yeah, that would come.
Amogh: don't know about you
Ronaq: Yeah. Yeah, a hundred percent. And you know, like again talking about Rashford, before
Nathan: They could
Ronaq: he was subbed off, I think it was seventy-ninth minute or eighty-first minute or whatever, at that minute you generally we weren't used to seeing Rashford put in harsh tackles and, you know, go in hard out defenders at that late end of the match. And I think there's some disturbance in someone's But yeah. good. But Rashford was really good. And the last involvement in the game was you know a a defensive involvement. it
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: was like a tackle just push shoving the player aside, and he is a tall and decently strong figure. So if he
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: chooses to turn it on, he can be really influential in a game, man.
Amogh: Absolutely. And this is the Marcus Rashford that United fans want to see, right? With everything that has gone on in his United career, all the criticisms about him being a little lazy, little sulky, not tracking back, which led to loan spells at Villa in Barcelona. I think, again, like the fact that Michael Carrick has played with Marcus Rashford, has seen
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: Marcus Rashford break into the first team. I think that has made a big difference because a manager like Ruben Amarin who is not English, who's not from Manchester, who doesn't
Ronaq: Hmm.
Amogh: really know the culture of the club, he's an outsider for all intents and purposes. A manager like that, regardless of how talentless or talented he may be, he's not going to be able to understand these nuances of players who are from the area. But Michael Carrick does that. the difference in approach towards man management especially of Marcus Rashford and to a certain extent of Kobi Menu as well is very, very evident because I'm sure Carrick has put an arm around Rashford's shoulder and said, that forget everything that has happened thus far. There are 76,000 people here in this stadium right now who are still wanting you to succeed here because you are one of them. Forget everybody
Ronaq: And
Amogh: who's talking on social media and trolling you or whatever because that's not real. 76,000 people here at Old Trafford, that is real. They are going to give you a reception, show them that you want to play for this bench. And that's what he's done. It's as simple as
Ronaq: No, and we saw
Amogh: that.
Ronaq: we saw the crowd get behind him. Every single tackle he was putting in, every run he had, we saw the crowd get behind him. So it was nice to see. Yeah.
Amogh: Yeah. It was very, very nice to see and he got very close with some shots on goal as well. It would have been great to have him on the scoresheet, but I feel I
Ronaq: Yeah. On the score sheet, yeah.
Amogh: feel he is going to score in a United shirt very, very soon. The other player, of course, we're talking about is Kobi Menu because again, there were questions asked about Kobi Menu. We asked questions on this podcast as well, whether there is something genuinely wrong with the player because two managers have refused to give him any minutes, any meaningful minutes at least and don't consider him as a starting player. But The difference in the team when he started against Tipswitch and when he didn't start against Starlip was stark. Men who bossed that midfield. And he made
Ronaq: No ein
Amogh: it possible for T elements to play his game.
Ronaq: Yeah. And you also have to remember that he is like we discussed that he is just twenty-one years old and he has a whole career ahead of him. And he it he can choose however he wants it for it to go because we obviously know he has the quality in him. And when he really when he turns it on, when he is in the groove, he is very difficult to deal with because he's am absolute stalwart in the midfield. He can link the defense and attack really well. And he's just so technically sound. It's it's a joy to watch him play in midfield.
Amogh: Absolutely. And what about Bruno Fernandes though? Let's talk about the man of the moment, a hat-trick plus an assist. My FPL is very happy because he was my captain. He has produced 23 FPL points, so whatever the double of that would be, which is his highest ever single match FPL score. And here's a bit of trivia, right? 2,44,000 managers apparently sold him before the game. Fuck those guys.
Ronaq: Didn't I say? I I I told people to hold on to your United assets. Like it's just it was I didn't expect a bloody twenty three point haul, but I backed him enough to captain him. So
Amogh: Yeah, yeah, it all alls well that ends well Another stat that was really interesting is that United had 33 shots on goal in this game which is their most in a Premier League game for nearly a decade A decade
Ronaq: Beautiful.
Amogh: Things are changing guys, title charge begins now Let's go Yeah,
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: we get we get excited very very soon
Nathan: Dude, you know the GTA theory, right? Yeah. So I I saw a post today and
Amogh: Yeah
Ronaq: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Nathan: I've seen at least two United fans who I know personally repost that post. And I'm like, so it begins.
Ronaq: Yeah. Yeah,
Amogh: But now here's the thing,
Ronaq: yeah.
Amogh: right? Like we don't know if GTA 6 is actually going to release this year or not because it has taken so long. But they confirmed twice... They
Nathan: No, it's confirmed, right? Yes December, no.
Ronaq: Hey November nineteenth, yeah.
Amogh: had that GTA 6 is then they delayed it because of whatever reason. Correct.
Ronaq: Volog United killed the team managa firam log release karbice.
Amogh: Correct, correct, correct, correct. Let's talk about the Harry Maguire goal that wasn't because this was proper... If you're a football nerd, you're a boffin, this is next level nerdy football law stuff, right? It was a handball by Maguire. It was a handball.
Ronaq: Yeah, it was. Yeah.
Amogh: And had Jacob Greaves not deflected that ball into his own net, it would have been chopped off. But because it was an own goal, Harry Maguire wasn't actively involved in the goal. So the handball
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: did not stand.
Ronaq: Because his cross or shot or whatever it may be was going off target. It wasn't on
Amogh: Yeah. Yeah.
Ronaq: like you know the trajectory was not going on goal, and the player who actually made it an own goal was the defender. So yeah, almost Harry K Maguire's involvement was kind of chalked off, which is which is a shame honestly for them. But
Amogh: Yeah. Yeah.
Ronaq: it should have been chalked off the goal. But whatever, I'm happy.
Amogh: Very very happy. Happy for Maguire as well because in the last game against Stel he was fairly trolled for marking Mbumo and Mazraoui as opposed to Oli McBurnie and the other Hull players. So for him to come back and contribute to the
Ronaq: also w
Amogh: scoreline is great.
Ronaq: Yeah, absolutely. And also talking about the difference in squad, the resurgence of Lisandro Martinez
Amogh: Oof.
Ronaq: off of that left center back position was so critical. He I think in the first half he had the highest number of line breaking passes. And I'm sure if we go across the game, I mean second half we absolutely killed them. But in the tough first half, Lisandro had the most number of line breaking passes from the defense. So it was absolutely crazy. he was really good for us.
Amogh: yeah, just a quick mention to Jay Kadam in the chat has said transfer window mainly targeted midfield but we still like a solid centre back and left back, signing a good left back to replace Shaw and a strong backup could help United finish in the top four. What top four Jay? Title charge, I'm saying this,
Ronaq: Mm-hmm.
Amogh: title fucking charge till next week when we lose, in which case.
Ronaq: Ha ha ha.
Nathan: Wow man, one game against Ip Ipswich is all it took.
Ronaq: Yeah, so you know being a United fan for in the last decade also, like this focus on Kayra to Chordo in the last decade has taught us that you really have to ride the highs and the lows. So
Amogh: Correct. The more you ride the highs, the more the lows become bearable. The higher you the less you will Or else you will be in the depths of hell and depression. And you don't want that. You don't wish that on anyone. But fantastic stuff. I feel bad for Jacob Greaves from Ipswich because first deflects the... the ball into his own net and then gives away a penalty by bringing Mateus Cunha down. Bruno Fernandes again just slamming that penalty home. It was very interesting how the mind games between the Ipswich goalkeeper and Bruno work because this idiot was standing to the right of goal and
Ronaq: To the le yeah. Yeah.
Amogh: just staring Bruno down. Bruno was also very calmly just looking at him, just figuring it out and he went the right way.
Ronaq: Exactly where the the keeper was. And the keeper dove the other way. And also let's not forget
Amogh: Yeah, beautiful, beautiful stuff.
Ronaq: this was he's the tallest player in the Premier League. He's a six foot nine inch goalkeeper. So when
Amogh: Yeah, yeah.
Ronaq: you see him standing twelve yards away from you, that towards one side of the goal, it's a tough decision to make.
Amogh: Let him much as he wants.
Ronaq: Yeah, yeah, definitely.
Amogh: Right. Let's move on to Chelsea 4-3 Brighton. Another fantastic game. The Jabi Alonso era is up and running. Six points out of a possible six. But chaotic. Because 3-2 against Fulham, 4-3 against Brighton. Especially after being 3-0 up. We can tell that the Chelsea attack is scintillating but the defence has leaks.
Ronaq: Yeah. Yeah. But I mean, I also see their defense getting better because it's obviously a new system Jabi Alonso is implementing, and in the forward line, he has incredible players who are able
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: to pull off the system with great ease.
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: but also you have to see it's a very if you just see the starting 11, he's playing with three fullbacks in and Malo Gusto is starting in the midfield. It's a very different. Outlook to the team with even Pedro Neto and Cole Palmer and Malo Gusto, three right side wide wingers starting in the team. And you just
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: sort of wonder how the team is supposed to set up with only one mid like technical midfielder, which is Lavia. he was the only proper central midfielder. Rest
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: all are attacking midfielder. So it's a very different setup to this team. I'm sure they are also learning the new system, but they are so fluid in attack. Like it just pains me that I didn't buy into Chelsea more.
Amogh: Yeah. But it
Ronaq: in my FPL in the start of the season.
Amogh: was anybody's guess, Because Chelsea are such a erratic team and have been under Bluko and
Ronaq: Yeah. Yeah.
Amogh: the multiple managers that they've hired and fired that you just don't know how it's going to play out. Like now they've got a fantastic manager in Jabi Alonso. But
Ronaq: Got
Amogh: how much is Jabi Alonso going to realistically able to imprint on this team this early was always a question that we didn't really have answers to. So I get that. I am also regretting the fact that I didn't get Palmer or João Pedro in my team. You, know, Ronaq have João Pedro, so there's that. But here's the interesting bit, right? Like when you talk about a new system that Alonso is implementing at Chelsea, I this game and the chaotic nature of it, it really brings it out because they're 3-0 up within 32 minutes or just about at 32 minutes. They win 4-3, so they let Brighton in really well, but all throughout they have had I think they ended with a possession of 25.6 percent if I am not mistaken. Yeah.
Ronaq: Really? That I didn't see.
Amogh: Yeah. Let me I mean let me just check that but I think that is what I have read.
Ronaq: Can Brighton hold seventy five percent possession?
Amogh: I mean, Brighton are also under Herzler a very erratic team. On their day they seem amazing but then they also are capable of some really stinky stinkers. It's anybody's guess how that goes. But again, fantastic stuff from Chelsea. Do you think that Chelsea are going to genuinely make a charge for the title? I'm being very serious
Ronaq: 100%.
Amogh: here.
Ronaq: No, no, definitely.
Nathan: I
Ronaq: I mean, I to feel because they have no Europe, they have limited games. It's you will see how far away in the cups they get into, but I'm sure their sole
Nathan: Mm.
Ronaq: focus has to be the league.
Amogh: Yeah, also just confirmed
Nathan: I
Amogh: 25.9 % possession for Chelsea, 74.1 % for Brighton.
Ronaq: Ridiculous.
Nathan: I predict I mean it's still too early to say, but if this form continues to like maybe December, maybe Jan, I think they could very well put up a fight, but I still feel it's Arsenal's dude. Because Arsenal looked more complete in all f especially in midfield and defence. I think in Chelsea that I would pick over Arsenal. But mm it's gonna be close and refund, fun to watch.
Ronaq: No, I mean, I as Sir Alex said he even said that, you know, attack wins you games and defense wins you titles. So you can't discount Arsenal's defense. But Chelsea
Nathan: Yeah, exactly.
Ronaq: just looked so fluid, man. It's it's the football
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: you want to watch.
Nathan: Also, yes, I was just gonna say I'm like Chelsea look fun to watch. Like if
Amogh: Just you do look fun to watch.
Nathan: if if if they do end up winning the league, I'll be like, Yeah, it was still fun to watch. Like I don't care if they win. Like if Arsenal do, I think everyone will be like, No. But if Chelsea win hearty, that's how that's how.
Amogh: Chelsea... Chelsea... Chelsea do look fun to watch but they have a disgusting kit. Like I do not like the Chelsea kit this season. Like it just looks very amateur. Very amateur.
Ronaq: Yeah.
Nathan: Yeah no, it looks very as a
Ronaq: Yeah.
Nathan: school PD uniform types.
Amogh: Exactly! My school's football team jersey was exactly like that. It was dirty blue colour with yellow piping.
Ronaq: Ha ha ha.
Nathan: No Partleser types. Very partles are.
Amogh: Very very Patil sir. God! Terrible!
Nathan: Ha ha ha.
Amogh: But coming back to the Chelsea defence, like a big key part of the Chelsea defensive set up is of course the Gholkeetang position and many people had said that Robert Sanchez is not the first choice for Chelsea. He's not good enough to be first choice for Chelsea. And surprise, surprise, they've gone and they have freed Emi Martinez from the throes of Aston Villa, you second time, a third time lucky for the Argentinian World Cup winner, signed for about 7.5 million pounds. If I'm not mistaken, that was the fee that they paid. But this is the cool part, right? I heard about the fact that they have signed Emi Martinez. Then I put on the Chelsea game and fuckers in goal already. He had one training session. and it the starting line up
Ronaq: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, of course. I mean, how much training and tactical setup do you need to be a goalkeeper? Like because he's an a very experienced goalkeeper who can come in.
Amogh: There are good, good save, because there are a bunch of goalkeepers who might be watching this. I play in goal sometimes as well Mukesh,
Ronaq: No. No, no, no, no, not like that.
Amogh: if he comes, he's also a goalkeeper. think the goalkeeper's union will be.
Ronaq: But like he can kind of come in. Nah, he's 33, 34 years. He's been a Premier League stalwart. He's been a World Cup in a obviously he can come in after one training session.
Amogh: Yeah. He's he's humped the golden glove. He's got experience. But
Ronaq: Yeah, no shit.
Amogh: so one training session just announced put in goal concedes three makes four saves.
Ronaq: Beautiful.
Amogh: beautiful, chaotic is the word for Chelsea like chaotic is the fucking word for Chelsea. Joe Pedro, let's talk about Joe Pedro because he scored, assisted and scored an own goal in this game.
Ronaq: What? He scored a known boy?
Nathan: I forgot to update my FPL team from last week. But Petro was on it from the previous week. So some point. Let me check. I just No, because the thing is I
Ronaq: Man couldn't go two weeks in FPL with like proper gusto.
Amogh: Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no, I think you're the only one.
Nathan: I forgot that there
Ronaq: Yeah.
Nathan: was a Friday night fixture. So Mercola Yeah, I forgot. And
Amogh: as do most people as do most people which is why
Ronaq: Yeah yeah, yeah.
Amogh: the Premier League app also now gives you reminders Hey reminder Friday night ke kaff hai toh you only have one hour left
Ronaq: I mean we s we spoke about it on a d on our Friday stream. That deadline
Nathan: shit. my god. I want I want
Amogh: Exactly, exactly, exactly.
Nathan: you guys to guess how many points I'm on as we speak for match week two. Guess. Take just guess. No no just guess. Just the points.
Ronaq: Who did you have as a captain?
Amogh: Okay, 75.
Nathan: Ranak?
Ronaq: Eighty.
Nathan: Fourteen.
Amogh: OHHHHOOOO
Nathan: I my god, dude. Hey okay, in my defense,
Ronaq: How do you get fourteen?
Nathan: in my defense, Arsenal are still to play. So it'll go to it's gonna
Amogh: How many players of Arsenal do you have dude?
Nathan: it's go to seventeen at best. It's gonna go to seventeen at best, okay? So I've got
Ronaq: Do you have eleven Arsenal?
Amogh: Yeah
Nathan: Raya as keeper left. Raya Odegaard and York shit, I Yoker as in. 18 points, not bad. Yeah, this has to be going up 14 points, bro. Like
Ronaq: Nathan, you know
Amogh: I don't think
Ronaq: how much did I get?
Amogh: I'm a good FPL player but I feel good about this.
Ronaq: I got ninety-seven,
Nathan: He
Ronaq: bro. What are you doing?
Amogh: Nah, 92.
Nathan: 14. I look I forgot to update my FPL. But hey mo wow Gibbs White
Ronaq: Yeah.
Nathan: got na 13 points and Java Pedro got nine points. Hey, this is incorrect, bro. It's it's it's not updated yet. But it
Amogh: the
Ronaq: Acho update na yuata. Update na yu wata.
Nathan: just shows fourteen. So let it update.
Ronaq: Hekidna
Amogh: How is it not updated?
Ronaq: Andraqitna
Nathan: I don't know.
Ronaq: Dikara score Uper Top
Nathan: Oi.
Amogh: Nathan you know on the top there is a number on the top that's your total score.
Nathan: Boy. Yeah. Yeah.
Amogh: How is it 14 bro? How are we spending
Nathan: Yeah, I'm showing you not that.
Amogh: 10 minutes on figuring out what your FPL score is?
Ronaq: Yeah, I mean
Nathan: Yeah, dude. I I think we should move on, sorry.
Amogh: Yeah, let's move on. Because you
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: are being this way, because you are being so unprofessional, let's talk about Liverpool. Liverpool 2, Nottingham Forest 2, Alisson...
Nathan: Yes. Talk about a good segue, yeah?
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: Very, very good segue. That's what we are here for, guys. That's why they pay us the small bucks. Or the no bucks. But... Yeah, zero bucks for now.
Nathan: Hm. Yes. Yeah. I'm just glad there's the word bucks in the sentence. So either small or big.
Ronaq: Ha ha ha.
Nathan: Fair enough. Yeah.
Amogh: Right now we are only paying the bucks but
Ronaq: Ha ha ha.
Amogh: eventually hopefully somebody will give us bucks but yes, two, two.
Nathan: Right now we right now we're only paying the bucks, but my team plays like they give no fucks. Like it's
Amogh: Yep.
Nathan: just this week on the cornerfly podcast I'm a shy, you can use me for hire. Like it's just sorry. Sorry.
Amogh: You are a poet and you didn't even know it. Anything you
Ronaq: Mm-hmm.
Amogh: will do to not talk about the Liverpool fixture. Anything. Mukesh Manjunath has
Nathan: Hehehehehe
Amogh: also messaged us on the WhatsApp saying I just got done, can I come now? He's probably watching the stream and he's like no, Liverpool have discussion. Liverpool...
Nathan: He heard this, he's like, Yeah, I just got done. I'm done.
Amogh: After Liverpool's discussion, I was like, guys, what happened? What are we talking about? Is it all done? That's his strategy, I can tell for sure. But Liverpool 2-Norwegian Forest 2, that's the
Nathan: Yeah.
Amogh: second game in a row that Liverpool have drawn two points from possible six.
Nathan: Dude, same same mistakes for match week one, dude. Like the leaky little defense, sloppy mistakes. yeah, dude, I think at this point, even if Liverpool don't sign a right wing, just get a just get someone as a CDM, dude. They're really trying to push for this Kamara guy. I think that'll be okay. But just get someone. Because look, I don't think he's gonna use Endo. And the thing is, I really like Endo because he knows that he's not really got a spot in the team. But he will even if he does get an opportunity to play, even if it's for like five minutes, dude, he'll play for the batch. So at this point, I think you either get a C DM or you'll have to use Endo. So that's that's the whole problem. You just need someone
Amogh: But I thought...
Nathan: in the middle to control. Like, dude, Gravenbush isn't gonna do that this season. McAllister has been decent. Wirth actually had a good game yesterday, I won't lie. Like, yeah, there were a lot of misstimed passes here and there, but there were some passes that really could have Done damage like
Ronaq: Mm-hmm.
Nathan: that pass to Munoz and Munoz finished. Good goal. but yeah, you could say Sobostai had a slightly off game, but that's okay. But speaking of Sobostai, if right now, if Frimpong's been ass, dude, he's just been terrible. I think as I really like Frimpong, but like at this point, I'm like, yeah, he's he needs to play those cup games, bro.
Amogh: We have seen this from last season.
Nathan: Yeah, just play those cup games, bro. Yeah. yeah.
Ronaq: It's so weird, man, with Frimpong. I thought he'd be an absolute killer right back.
Nathan: He's got that pace.
Amogh: That's what I felt as well.
Nathan: So, maybe you know he maybe they sober sly dude this just what a guy dude, like this or that rhymes.
Amogh: Speaking about Frimpong, you guys remember the thing with Frimpong and the Dutch national team for the World Cup, right? Because he went on and said, I hope that Memphis joins us at the World Cup. Memphis is really
Ronaq: yeah. And then he only didn't go.
Amogh: good and then Ronald Koeman didn't select Frimpong for the World Cup.
Ronaq: Frame bong. Yeah.
Amogh: I think Frimpong's
Nathan: Ha ha ha.
Amogh: luck is a bit bad. His horoscope is bad.
Nathan: Yeah, bro, like it's just Sarisati, what is it called? Saris whatever, yeah.
Amogh: I guess you are asking who knows dude if we knew we would have
Nathan: I'm surprised I know that word exists.
Amogh: exactly I am surprised you know that word existed also if we knew what that word meant we have an astrology podcast and be far more successful not
Nathan: Yes, that's true.
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: should we do it we should actually start an astrology podcast the numbers are there bro just bullshit no anyway it's all bullshit anyway it's all bullshit can we do we are doing bullshit here and also what difference does it
Nathan: Yeah. Mm. Yeah, we should. We should.
Ronaq: And do what? The numbers are there.
Nathan: Yeah, yeah, dude. Stars are aligned, well let's do it.
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: The big talking point of course of this game was Alisson absolutely kicking the shit out of the electronic substitution board and
Nathan: Yeah, I I didn't really like that.
Amogh: but the reason he did that is because the board malfunctioned. Now this is a conspiracy theory right.
Nathan: Right, right, correct, correct. Hm they
Amogh: That conspiracy theory because the ball goes out Liverpool wanted to make I think a double substitution or a triple substitution
Nathan: Triple.
Amogh: at the time, triple substitution but the board didn't work so they weren't allowed to do it. They tried, it happened almost one or two, three times perhaps and that's when they were still waiting for the substitutions to happen when Forrest took a quick throw and I think it was Gibbs White who got into a box and Alison fouled him that led to the penalty. Now if,
Nathan: Yeah, soft penalty though, but yeah, penalty.
Amogh: I mean, whatever it is, but like the point is, and this is the point that Hira Ola also made, which is that if the board worked and if the substitutions were made when they were needed
Nathan: Yeah.
Amogh: to be made, that penalty would probably not have happened and that goal would probably not have gone in. So how do
Nathan: Hmm.
Amogh: you, how do you justify that? Like what is, what is the justification for this? What are the reparations that the premier league can pay?
Ronaq: I mean, we've seen this time and again,
Nathan: I don't think anything's gonna happen.
Ronaq: man. Like we've seen bad referee decisions. So how many I think it's just game me to an I think there's already three two or three clear-cut penalties that were not given. We saw Harry Maguire's goal that was given. We saw the substitution board malfunction. There's honestly, for these things, there's nothing you can do. You have to chalk it up to bad luck.
Amogh: Yeah, I mean, it's just I just find it hilarious that Liverpool have spent hundreds of millions assembling a football team of such great repute with players like Bradley Barcola and managers like Andoni Irawala only to figure out that their greatest adversary is Nalla technical product bought from Chroma at sale. This is
Nathan: Is the fucking Technican products do it?
Amogh: just terrible.
Nathan: Dude, so I was just telling a friend the other day, I'm like, dude, like if the I think Liverpool should start, you know, chasing all these bright, you know, younger prospects or not so expensive signings because I don't know, man, we are just joking around the more expensive the signing is for Liverpool, higher that player's gonna flop. And I feel like
Amogh: Yeah.
Nathan: which is why when Victor Munoz were announced, I'm like ha this guy is going to attack. Like yeah, he yeah, yeah, yeah. This and
Amogh: Under the radar player will do well.
Ronaq: I mean that's because you paid you paid hundred million for Daven Nunez. I mean that's
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: pr probably why you guys feel like that.
Nathan: Yeah, th
Amogh: The game
Nathan: that that was the benchmark, bro. Game's gone. Game's gone.
Amogh: is The game is gone. Ishaan Mehta has said Prashant Bhai same upar se Maghwarain and Bhooma bhi rakhka maine. My question is Prashant Bhai kaule hai bhai? There is no Prashant
Nathan: Yeah.
Amogh: here. Is there a ghost Prashant on this stream? I don't know. But we will figure out. Good one Prashant Bhai. Wherever you are Prashant Bhai, well done.
Ronaq: Good one, Brashand by
Amogh: Can we quickly talk about Cow? Coventry 0, Hull City 1, 2 wins in 2 games for newly promoted Hull City, they are going to win the league
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: as their fans have been singing.
Nathan: Yeah, I do.
Ronaq: Yeah. And I think just two clean sheets also. I I think they
Amogh: to clean sheets also.
Ronaq: haven't even conceded a single goal yet, which is ridiculously good.
Amogh: I mean at the start when, sorry I got confused because Ishaan has said, not this sorry, he has said he means in the comments, there is a Prashant in the comments, yes it is Prashu 1261991,
Ronaq: yeah.
Amogh: I did not realize Prashu was Prashant,
Nathan: It's been other classes. Yeah.
Amogh: it could be Prasheswar, we do know he is actually Prashant, Prashu can mean anything.
Ronaq: Be pressanna.
Amogh: could be Prasanna, correct? Exactly. They haven't conceded a goal and this is a team that everybody expected to be shooed in for relegation this season. They had the worst statistics in the championship last season. They were nowhere near the level required to be promoted to the Premier League. We had somehow through the playoffs, they got here. So, and it's not like they've invested in Premier League ready players as well. They're working on a shoestring budget. But they proving everybody wrong.
Ronaq: But I think no, I think but they have signed in a lot of new players. Isn't that right? I think they have.
Amogh: I mean their starting striker is Olly McBurnie dude. I am sorry but Olly McBurnie is not
Ronaq: Yeah, yeah.
Amogh: going to get you the goals to compete in the Premier League. but yeah we'll
Ronaq: City have brought in twelve new signings. Yeah. So
Amogh: wow, okay. Do you have the details of the signings because I don't have them in front of me just yet.
Ronaq: so I I'm just gonna go out and read the names. So the no Nobel Mendy is a center back from Rayo Valakanu, who's been actually playing well. He's in quite a few FPL teams.
Amogh: He's been playing well. Yeah.
Ronaq: there goalkeeper Solakis. there's some Mammat Ali Cho, a right winger from Nice, Lucas Harrington, Joe Jellhart, Jack Butland, the you know the old goalkeeper from Stoke City, if I'm not wrong, Matt Target.
Amogh: And Man United at some point as well. Early on in his career I think.
Ronaq: Yeah. Yeah yeah. Yeah. Oscar Zambrano, who's a you know, a C DM. So they have quite a few players. someone named Lucas Harrington also who's a center back. So yeah.
Amogh: But that's what I mean, Like none of these players seem like Premier League ready players. And as
Ronaq: No, no, no, absolutely not.
Amogh: a newly promoted team, you need to have some level of Premier League experience as well because we saw that's what Sunderland did last season with Granite Jaka. That was the spine that they built and it served them really well. Ipswich
Ronaq: Hmm. Correct.
Amogh: have also done the same this season. They've got Fatahbu as well who had a great season last season. So there is some sort of recruitment that the other two promoted teams have been doing which HAL actually has it. But then to see them win two games in a row, clean sheets, sitting second in the league only on goal difference with their fans singing we're going to win the league, I think that's great. Especially when you
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: consider the fact that they had 182 passes only to Coventry's 501.
Ronaq: That's ridiculous. It was like, you know that Barsa Celtic stats, if you remember.
Amogh: And they openly... But they openly don't care because Olly McBurnie effectively said that teams come up trying to look pretty and get punished. We would rather defend and counter. Finished. We don't want to
Ronaq: Yeah yeah, absolutely.
Amogh: tiki-taka, we want to survive. Effective football.
Ronaq: Effective football. You get ball, you pass, you score.
Amogh: But do we think Mukesh, let us get you in right now on this if your internet allows you to. Do you think that this is the way that a team like Hull City can stay in the Premier League by sticking to the philosophy of defend and counter? Do not lose.
Ronaq: Mukesh, are you here?
Amogh: No, no, we will take that again Mukesh, please log out and log back in because you are not audible. Mukesh, good. I will pose that question to you now.
Ronaq: sorry, what was the question? I I just got zoned down in all the mukay noise.
Amogh: The question is that if we've seen teams like Burnley come up and try to play their brand of football in the Premier League and get punished for it, is this genuinely now the way for promoted teams to behave in the Premier League in order to survive the Premier League? Because the golfing class is massive. It is massive. It is very tough for newly promoted teams to stay in the Premier League. And maybe there is nothing wrong with playing. ultra defensive long ball five at the back boring as haram ball if you are a newly promoted
Ronaq: No, I
Amogh: team
Ronaq: honestly I absolutely love it. It it takes much more effort to play Harambal. Like you have
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: to work very, very hard to make sure you don't consider and really catch someone on the counter.
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: so I absolutely get if a side would play that game, but I also know that it's not the way you can really sustain. Like if I know Hull are currently riding really high, but you do expect them to fall off at some point from the cliff they're at. and whereas Coventry, you know, there are a generally a good set team who play good football. but as you said, there's a really huge golf in class. So if they are able to replicate, the main idea for newly promoted teams has to be to stay a second season in the Premier League. And to achieve that goal, they have to do whatever is necessary in the most effective method they can find out for their team. So if
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: Coventry thing playing 562 passes in a game and they can eventually crack a team, then that's a different way to go than obviously than Hull have gone. this time, obviously Hull and it was Coventry home. So Hull, you know, churned out a result away from their home, a 1-0 result, which is honestly great. And for such newly promoted teams, you know, the start of the season, the points they accumulate at the start of the season really go a long way.
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: Because we know that the forty point mark is the where you know you're absolutely safe. but we've also seen like twenty pointers and seventeen pointers Premier League seasons in the past. So it's really on the newly promoted teams and how they crack staying the second season in the Premier League.
Amogh: Yeah, crazy. Ishaan has a lovely message for Mukesh. I've you 5 plus years, Mukesh has never any setup for podcast or livestream. It is very true, Ishaan. We are also pissed off with him for this very reason. We have him to sort his shit out and he just refuses to. But I guess that is the charm of being Mukesh Manjunath. You never know what you're going to expect. He's the Chelsea of this podcast. I don't know what will happen. He'll attack sometimes, sometimes he'll leak I don't I can't I just want to go back to the Newcastle Spurs game. know we are going slightly away. And you have also mentioned Ronaq in the past about Yohan Vissa being
Ronaq: Mm.
Amogh: a fantastic addition to this team. Yohan Vissa of course last season when he joined Newcastle was coming off of an injury so he didn't really have the best debut seasons for Newcastle but he obviously scored in this game against Spurs. And it does seem like all the... All the bad players, so-called bad players that they had under Eddie Howe towards his last few seasons are genuinely being unlocked right now under Matthias Jaisler. Because we've seen Joe Willock score. Joe Willock has not
Ronaq: Yeah. Yeah.
Amogh: been in the best form. He's been a fringe player for Newcastle at best. Anthony Alanga has been on the score sheet and he's scored in two games now, I He's scored in both games.
Ronaq: Back to back, yeah.
Amogh: So, again, he started off great at Newcastle but then didn't really do much and he was also considered even by the Newcastle fans. as a wasted signing. So he's really unlocking what he has inherited from a previous regime and this is he was asked about improving players that he inherited and he's essentially replied that getting the best out of players is literally the coach's job. I wish I
Ronaq: Yeah. You know.
Amogh: wish Ruben Amerim also heard this and real escape.
Ronaq: You know, I I saw Matthais la Newcastle's games, obviously, and I was pleasantly surprised. and I also heard commentators saying that Matthias Yasla is very his teams are very well defined and very well coached teams who know what they want to do. And
Amogh: Yeah. Yeah.
Ronaq: that is honestly what I saw with those two games, because they obviously won both the games.
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: and they are getting the best out of the players they have. It's not like They have the best of squad. Half of the squad has been depleted. The best players have already been bought out. but the way he's set up, keeping Elanga, anyone would generally keep Elanga outwide. He has a record, doesn't have a very good goal scoring record. He has incredible pace. The basic sense says you've to you've got to keep him out wide to, you know, kind of cross the ball in. But Yasla has kind of put him in the middle, and that has absolutely changed the hello. Did my voice kind of break in the middle? No, okay, yeah.
Amogh: No, no, perfect, you're perfect.
Ronaq: so yeah, I mean he changed Elanga's position, made him play through the middle, and obviously Vesa, I absolutely love that player. He's so focal to everything Newcastle does. And it's a shame that he didn't have the best of seasons last year because he was obviously coming off of an injury, and even last half of the year he wasn't even playing because he was out injured. But yeah, I am absolutely very excited to see Yuan Wiss and I think at some point I might even buy him in my FPL team. Because he just seems so focal to the Newcastle attack.
Amogh: at some point. When the fixtures are favourable, think Vizag is a shoe in for this attack. Also, maybe Elanga.
Ronaq: Correct. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely.
Amogh: So yeah, FPL players, that's a lovely tip for you guys. I have an option for this episode's title. Can I say it? Can I say it, guys? Can I say
Ronaq: What yeah, absolutely.
Amogh: it? Can I say it? Tell me in the chat if I can say it and even if you say I can't say it, I'm still going to say it. Ya isle jaise koi nahi. Like jassi jassi.
Ronaq: Your your standard of jokes is falling by the day, man.
Amogh: And it's falling by the day. This is the point where we start losing subscribers. Please don't let that happen guys. Hit the subscribe button, smash that like button. Let us get more. Now that I'm I'll dad jokes. Otherwise, how will people know that I am a dad? Very quickly,
Ronaq: Amog is like running into his dad jokes era
Amogh: before we wrap up, let's also talk about Bournemouth 1, Everton 1. We won't spend a lot of time on this. I just want to know like... There was the problem with one of the goals that Tarkovsky scored in stoppage time was that Ryan Christie and Marco Stavenir got into a little bit of confusion that led to the goal. Marco Rosa described the goal as slapstick, which is, I mean, just Bournemouth under Rosa are not really, you know, they've not started off really well, but Marco Rosa is a very, very talented manager. you know, there is some hope for Bournemouth yet.
Ronaq: No, and also Bournemouth, what they've done really well is they've held on to Scott. I forgot his first name. Alex Scott. Alex Scott. Yeah, yeah. Alex Scott. So Alex
Amogh: Adam Scott, Alex Scott, Adam Scott is Severin's actor, sorry, very different Scott.
Ronaq: Scott is obviously a very, very good player. He got on the Scourgey yesterday. If you see the goal, it was a very, very good goal. very good shift of legs, took the ball from his left to the right, and then you know, slotted across the goal bottom corner finish. So These are the players you kind of need to give. If you really end up selling all your players, there's nowhere you stand. So they obviously sold Semenio last season. And I think there's a similar route for Alex Scott where they've held on to him this summer. They'll make him sign a new contract and they'll put in a release clause for anyone who wants to buy him in the next summer.
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: And yeah, he's gonna go a long way for Warmouth this season.
Amogh: Yeah, absolutely.
Ronaq: And obviously they have some good signings in Ryan, who was I think a signing from last January.
Amogh: last season. Yeah,
Ronaq: And he obviously went to the World Cup, although didn't have the best of World Cups, but I think he's a very good player.
Amogh: Absolutely, absolutely. I want to quickly just talk about the fact that with Everton, they've also said that there has been a lot of this thing, confusion about one of their academy midfielders, Harrison Armstrong, getting a transfer to Nottingham Forest and Moyes publicly sided with the fans and said supporters aren't always wrong. And since then, I think Everton have pulled the plug on the transfer. Classic Everton, classic Everton, the people's very, very literally.
Ronaq: Yeah, yeah.
Amogh: the people's club. But also talking about everything, James Tarkovsky getting the stoppage time equalizer and then the very next day going into the Premier League Productions studio to be a pundit on the Sunday fixtures. What do we feel about
Ronaq: Yeah.
Amogh: that, man? Like it was so weird to see James Tarkovsky in the studio acting like a pundit alongside Gary Cahill.
Ronaq: You know, I am
Amogh: And I'm like, you just played it. Shouldn't you be in a cryo chamber or something? Like shouldn't you be like cooling down and recovering or whatever? What you doing Why you
Ronaq: You know, this I am all for because I love to hear a player's perspective. I think a couple years back we saw I know
Amogh: Current players perspective.
Ronaq: current current players. I think a couple years back we saw Connor Cody, who's a Wolves captain, come
Amogh: Yes. Yes.
Ronaq: onto the show. And these players give you a very different insight. And I'd
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: much rather have current or ex players be hosts of a show or whatever, rather than any other random interviewer. Even like ourselves, like you we're just podcasters, but people would much rather Hear the actual players talk about the games or you know the insights or what intricacies kinda run in playing a Premier League match. So I'm all for that. The only thing I'm very, very against is the halftime interviews. I mean, what the what the hell do you expect a player to say? He's bloody
Amogh: Overdose for that. Yeah.
Ronaq: panting, he's ran for 45 minutes, he's either scored or whatever, you know, he's had a
Amogh: Yeah. Yeah.
Ronaq: good game or a bad game. What the fuck are you supposed to expect him to say? I
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: mean, imagine if some Ipswitch player would have gone on in the halftime and said like, you know, okay, we're having a really good game and then they get thrashed five two in the second half. So the most pointless piece of you know thing they've included in this Premier League is the halftime interviews. They just absolutely need
Amogh: Yeah,
Ronaq: to be scrapped.
Amogh: absolutely. Quick mention to Leeds 1, Brentford 1, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has now scored in 11 consecutive Premier League seasons. Can you believe that? Because... Seasons, seasons, not games, not games. Seasons. Seasons. I
Ronaq: seasons, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
Amogh: mean, fucking well done. Like, we did not think DCL would have that level of longevity with his injury concerns and...
Ronaq: With his injury record, yeah. That I definitely agree.
Amogh: Because he was lethal for Everton for a certain period of time, but then it just went south for him. So, you know, so that.
Ronaq: Yeah. Yeah. And actually Brentford are doing really good so far. Leads to churn out a draw against Brentford, but although Brentford, home and away are very different beasts. So yeah.
Amogh: Very different teams. Fun fact, Sunday didn't beat Fulham 1-0. Fulham had 11 shots but 0 on target. The most shots without testing the keeper by a Premier League side since Fulham themselves. What is Alvaro Arbeloa doing? Here is a manager with Real Madrid pedigree. Should have been a coup for
Ronaq: Yeah, I mean
Amogh: Fulham.
Ronaq: it should have been, but I mean he's got young players there. I I really like the striker, Gonzalo Garcia.
Amogh: Garcia Gonzalo Garcia
Ronaq: Gonzalo Garcia. I think he scored in the midweek in the cup game, which was actually a very good goal. So I expect Fulham to do decently well this season. this might just be the starting you know, just even the managers are new addition to the Premier League. So even I guess even he's finding his feet. And no fixtures easy in the Premier League.
Amogh: Absolutely. Right, before we go, let's do a quick preview on Aston Villa vs Arsenal kickoff at 12.30am tonight. Villa not in very good shape. Olly Watkins has, I think, completed his move to Al Hilal. Unai Emery was asked about Olly Watkins. At one time he said, silence. And then when he was asked, he said, he's a fantastic guy. We had a chat. I gave him a big hug and I had a small cry. The one thing that... I don't know if you saw that interview of Unai Emery when he was... No, no, this was more recent now where he was talking
Ronaq: Yeah, Mark Bizova interview, right? Acha. Okay.
Amogh: about Watkins actually leaving Aston Villa. And the most striking thing about that interview was Unai Emery's hair. Did you notice his hair? Because it wasn't...
Ronaq: I haven't seen their interview.
Amogh: It looks like he has a wig on, Because he's not slicked his hair back, his hair seems dry, it seems very weird and very un-Unai Emery-like.
Ronaq: Mm-hmm. Okay. Good evening.
Amogh: That's the kind of amazing insight you get on the corner flag guys. We don't care about stats, we care about managers hair pieces. Yes, that is what we are here for. 100%, 100%.
Ronaq: Pogba would have done wonders for us.
Amogh: But yeah, it's going to be an interesting match up because Unai Emery of course has Arsenal connections. He always wants to show his former employers what they missed because he didn't have a great time at the Emirates. And Arsenal also have a genuine Villa Park problem because Villa have won four of the seven home meetings with Arsenal since returning to the Premier League. Now, it on the face of it doesn't seem like that high a number, but there is a chance that this could be a banana peel for Arsenal.
Ronaq: I don't see it honestly because now Arsenal have become a team where they have way too many outlets. It's not just like last season where they have a couple of tricks up their sleeve and then they try to defend it. Now, if you end up scoring one, first of all, they're not gonna let you. If you end up scoring one, they're gonna
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: find ways to score multiple goals. They're not gonna
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: stop at one. They have just way too many outlets from they're benching their main striker who was Gyokerez, and Kai Howard's is in the former form of his life. We know Arteta loves Havertz. they've got Z Zolis who's you know a very new, very electric winger, and very different dimension to the Trossads of last season for Arsenal. And obviously Odegaard and Eze and Saka and Madue, they have way too many outlets to do you know, really not to be troubled basically by a struggling Aston Villa. But You you know, obviously, as we've mentioned at least three times in this show, no Premier League fixture is easy. So it could might it you know it might be be a banana peel, but I
Amogh: But
Ronaq: see Arsenal winning it.
Amogh: think about it though if Arsenal don't win, Villa actually get the points, next up for Arsenal is Chelsea. So suddenly that game becomes enormous in the larger title race scenario even
Ronaq: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Amogh: though it is only game week 2 and 3. It's going to be interesting.
Ronaq: But you know, I think in in that case, if suppose Arsenal were to lose against Aston Villa, then I think Chelsea would be more troubled because you know, like we've seen with Manchester City in the past where yeah, the at least
Amogh: They'll come back. They'll come back. Dang it.
Ronaq: as champions that's the one thing you expect them to do that if they
Amogh: Yeah.
Ronaq: lose they're coming back the next game with a bang. So yeah.
