[00:01:00] Cheeseman are here to punch the recruiting industry right where hers. Complete with breaking news,
[00:01:06] crash opinion and loads of sirens. Bottle up boys and girls. It's time for the Chad and Cheese Podcasts.

[00:01:29] I'm your co-host Joel Mindfreak Cheeseman and I'm Chad not hungover. Believe that's
[00:01:35] it. Soosh and on this week's show Paradox gets a new head. Finnegan begin again and Veritone
[00:01:43] Tony Tony has done it again. Let's do this. Feels good. Emotional damage!
[00:01:53] Okay, listener, how can you help your employees become more productive? I have answers.
[00:01:58] How about automating manual and repetitive tasks, giving meaning to data, then allowing
[00:02:04] that data to actually drive decisions. And how about matching people to your jobs quicker?
[00:02:11] Well wait, the Chad and Cheese has a new LLM. No, Cheeseman, I'm talking about text kernel.
[00:02:19] Okay, that makes more sense. What I'm hearing is the groundbreaking concept of wait for it.
[00:02:26] Yeah, simplicity. Seriously though, seriously. Text kernel cuts through the complexities
[00:02:33] like a tortilla chip through some hot nacho cheese. Oh my god, really?
[00:02:37] Nacho references already. Anyways, text kernel brings efficiency and productivity to your operations.
[00:02:44] Text kernel seamlessly unifies your tools and data to drive efficiencies and success.
[00:02:51] Text kernel is creating new opportunities for your recruitment journey,
[00:02:57] kind of like adding guac to my barbacoa burrito. Oh my god, how about extracting meaningful
[00:03:03] insights from data? I mean that's something swiftly matching people with jobs,
[00:03:08] automating repetitive tasks. Who knew such advanced concepts were even possible in the land
[00:03:16] of human resources. We did Chad, we did. Dude, wrap it up. I'm a little hungry. Imagine that.
[00:03:24] Okay, listener, get ready to use today's tech to drive efficiencies and productivity visit
[00:03:30] text kernel.com that's T-E-X-T-K-E-R-N-E-L dot com.
[00:03:39] Nachos.
[00:03:44] All right, Chad. We are live from Las Vegas at the Transform Conference.
[00:03:50] I'm in day five. You're in day two, I believe. Yes, yes. I'm probably showing a little more
[00:03:55] wear and tear. I got to hope so. Yes. Yes, good times last night. Good times last night.
[00:04:01] Amazing time for the giggles apparently. Oh my god. Okay, we're just going to go right into
[00:04:07] this. So literally I give Cheezman a five milligram gummy. Yes, just five lies at least 20 was in
[00:04:14] that thing. So in shout out to work, Vivo because we went to the sphere. They have this up with sweet
[00:04:20] tickets. So we're in the sweet. Joel is right into his gummy and at the end of it, I mean the
[00:04:27] first and foremost, it was an amazing experience. Thank you, work, work, Vivo. They're owned by Zoom.
[00:04:32] Yes. Right? Would you forgot because you're on a gummy. The C-I-O of Zoom. Yeah, the C-I-O of Zoom
[00:04:41] comes in. Amazing dude. He starts talking about different people that they're working with.
[00:04:47] And he says, oh yeah. And then we also had an event with Tony Robbins and you had it and you said
[00:04:53] what? Did you say Kenny Loggins? And then you said, and then you couldn't stop laughing. Oh my
[00:05:02] god. Check it. You're in the danger zone, my man. And I just lost it. You were so high. It was
[00:05:08] hilarious. But at the event, how was it? Because you were high and that, I mean, that could set
[00:05:16] some people into vertigo. Yeah, I'm acts on steroids with your watching something. I fucking love it.
[00:05:22] You get air in your face. The chairs shake when you're falling into a pit or something. Yes.
[00:05:28] Mind blowing. I mean that part was really cool. I was transfixed. And then something snapped
[00:05:38] and I could not stop laughing there. That was awesome. And then we went to go see a friend and
[00:05:43] videographer. Then he stayed up comedy. That was a good time. That was a great time.
[00:05:49] Yeah, he did a really good job. I am figuring out that I'm becoming a show guy, Chad.
[00:05:55] Yeah. If we're for a show guy. Okay. I made fun of the guy. The old people way back
[00:06:01] that like I go to conference and of course I'm party in it. Whatever.
[00:06:05] Yeah. There are many good ladies in a pool at a hotel or whatever. And the old people will be like
[00:06:10] oh, we're going to do a nice dinner. Go see a show. And I thought that was so lame. Now I'm into it.
[00:06:17] I'm loving it. First night in a Cirque du Soleil show. I think the love show with plum.
[00:06:23] Yes. Now last time, oh, that was amazing. Yeah. Got me intrigued and we did the mind freak.
[00:06:28] Oh, did you? Oh, did you? Oh, did you?
[00:06:31] Carrot top was in the audience. Oh, Jesus. Jesus. Every show has the chance to really drop an
[00:06:38] unexpected pleasure. Yeah. Yeah. I just happened to be carrot talking. Yes. Well, the first night
[00:06:42] that we were here, I was sucking because we were up early. We traveled. Yeah.
[00:06:47] Job pixel had this amazing event where it was they took over a piece of the buffet here in the
[00:06:54] wind and he was like, ah, it's a buffet. That is the buffet. There's not a but that is if
[00:07:00] you're going to any buffet. Yep. That's the buffet. I saw a guy sitting over by the crab legs.
[00:07:05] He might he should have just taken the plate of crab legs. Uh-huh. Because I mean,
[00:07:09] I go figure it's all you can eat and that's all he was eating. My quality. You know, I've been
[00:07:13] known to like a good meal or two Chad. I do. And even I was overwhelmed with the magnitude of
[00:07:22] the wind. Yes. Buffet. Yes. So my hats off to Mr. Crab legs who could not stop
[00:07:29] consuming said crab legs because that is a real athlete, my friend. Not all heroes. No,
[00:07:34] we're capes now. And thanks again to Omar, Job pixel. That was amazing. Both of which were
[00:07:39] advisors for but then you know, we're here in transform. I have never been to a show at the
[00:07:46] wind before. I don't believe have you. I've never been at the wind before. This is up. That's
[00:07:50] because they wouldn't let you in. This is upscale. You had a badge this time. So they let you in. Yeah.
[00:07:55] This is upscale and it was funny because Julie on day one said every show should be at the wind.
[00:08:03] She did say that. She did say that. It's all right as a show play. I mean, as a hotel,
[00:08:08] I'm sure it's great. It's all right. It's a show conference place. I like it. I do like
[00:08:13] Caesars Forum where on leash doesn't make you. Oh yeah. Yeah. So Vegas is a good spot.
[00:08:20] Coming here three times a year, probably not what I want to do. But you know, we'll make
[00:08:25] two. We were on stage yesterday had three amazing practitioners. We have that show. How do we get
[00:08:32] them? Samara. Samara in transform got us some amazing practitioners. We are going to have that
[00:08:41] actually go out as as a podcast on its own. Yep. It was amazing time. We got an opportunity to talk
[00:08:47] brass tax with three practitioners on stage and they weren't they weren't afraid, which I love.
[00:08:54] Nope. A great diverse we had Panda, which is your Panda Express, your fast Chinese food.
[00:09:00] Joey. We had box tech company store that was great and then hungry root.
[00:09:06] Got your hippie trippy health food in a box. Come on to your house. So we got a really great
[00:09:14] different view. Diverse AI, D.I automation. We tried to tackle as many issues as we could in 45
[00:09:22] minutes and yeah, we'll be releasing that soon. But that was that was fantastic. Yeah.
[00:09:28] Whenever you get on stage, obviously we bring on beer, you know, it's the end of the day. We've
[00:09:34] got that happening. We both thought at the end of the day we're like, nobody's going to be here.
[00:09:38] We're going to be talking to an empty crowd. And fucking places full. It was full. It wasn't the
[00:09:44] biggest of areas. We weren't on. Yeah. We're in the ex-faults. There's a keynote with like a thousand
[00:09:50] chairs. Yeah. We weren't that but but we were competing with liquor. Okay, we were competing with
[00:09:57] all the the exhibitors here and that's not always easy. So I think that we held our own. Yes.
[00:10:03] We opened it up with little guns and roses. Welcome to the jungle. Kind of set the mood.
[00:10:07] Teezer. Set the mood. You poured beer on a lot of the audience members for what I remember.
[00:10:12] Had a little spillage. Had a beer at the end of the day. I need a sip of it.
[00:10:17] At a good time. So my question to you is we go to a lot of shows. Where is transform in the big
[00:10:23] schema things for you? Where do they compete? How are they different? Where are they better?
[00:10:28] You're take. Well, I like to say that first. I don't like the stack rank because they're so different.
[00:10:34] The shows are so different. It's kind of like rec fest is so much different than unleashes
[00:10:38] and transform so different than then rec fest, right? There are a lot. I'm going to say probably
[00:10:45] 70% of the vendors that are here. I have never fucking heard of. Interesting. At least 70%
[00:10:51] interest. So they're obviously bringing in an entirely different crop of startups. So again,
[00:10:59] I don't see this as better or worse or anything. I see it as different and especially when we're talking
[00:11:05] about the audience that they're hitting a lot of high level practitioners actually had SVP of Pepsi
[00:11:11] stopped me today. Ask me when she can be on the podcast. I'm like, are you kidding me?
[00:11:14] Yes. So yeah, good stuff. Really good stuff. Good stuff. You know, I think you mentioned Unleash
[00:11:21] and we'll be in Unleash in Vegas again in May. Yes. They seem to be really competitive with HR tech.
[00:11:29] Whether that's a mental thing or just by default but I don't think they are. I don't think they
[00:11:34] are. HR tech is an industry integration. It's a vendor-sort-firing-sauce-firing-sauce-firing.
[00:11:40] I don't go to HR tech thinking you're going to fill the funnel and make a lot of sales. It's
[00:11:44] to me. Strategic alliances. This felt more unleashed to me, more competitive. Okay. So if I'm Unleash,
[00:11:52] I'm looking at Transform a little more than HR tech as an up and coming competitor. Yeah.
[00:11:58] We know ERE is trying to sort of reimagine their conferences. I have investors who have booths here
[00:12:04] right? Yeah. I mean, and we should see more of that. And on stage as well. Yes, we should see more
[00:12:09] of that. And I know that Unleash is really hitting the investor and start upside to the house hard.
[00:12:15] So yeah, I think again, I think they're taking it at different angles which is cool.
[00:12:19] Yes. Because if they try to be the same, I mean, it gets boring and you hear the Charlie Brown
[00:12:25] won't, won't, won't. Yep. And likewise, wreck fest. Oh, you know, their secret sauce is just
[00:12:33] nobody's like us. No, so that's off. Nobody is. Yes. That's off to them. All right, let's make a quick
[00:12:39] do of our announcements because we are, we are live as typical Ben from Brighthigh. We're going
[00:12:45] to hold off on yes, Ben Sess or CEO of Brighthire just walked by. He's looking good. He's in all black.
[00:12:53] We're recording the live show. So get out of here. Ben, we're doing stuff. Jesus.
[00:12:59] By the way, thanks to Brighthire, one of our new sponsors, Firing Squad. You guys love Firing Squad.
[00:13:06] You love Teddy. You love Teddy. You love Firing Squad. Now you'll learn to love.
[00:13:10] Our favorite country music star, Teddy Chestnut. Teddy Chestnut and food competitor.
[00:13:16] Food eating competitor. So we'll get to birthdays next week. Probably not next week will be in
[00:13:21] in New York. That's our answer. It will be in Europe. So it might be a couple of weeks, but shout out
[00:13:25] to Plum. Yes. Our sponsor for the birthdays. Shout out to Tex Colonel sponsoring bourbon,
[00:13:31] a selection by both of us. That's been Tech Labs for beer and really excited new T-shirt design
[00:13:38] just approved. We'll be bringing those up soon. How you're going to see it? Aaron, ERIN is our new
[00:13:43] sponsor for T-shirts. Very excited about that. Look for that if you haven't signed up at chatchies.com
[00:13:50] and you're not getting a T-shirt. You're not getting bourbon, you're not getting beer.
[00:13:55] You'll probably be the most avoided person at your next social events. Yeah. So yeah,
[00:14:00] you got to go to chatchies.com. Click that free link put in your information and who knows?
[00:14:06] A T-shirt and some booze just might show up at your door. And you said Tex Colonel, we're going
[00:14:10] to see our friend Harard. Molder. Yeah. Harard. Molder in Amsterdam next week as we're going
[00:14:17] to the E-Recruitment Congress. Leaven, get ready. We expect Belgian beer, Belgian trot, all of it my
[00:14:23] friend. I can't wait to do. Don't throw any Heineken or Amsterdam light at the end. So excited.
[00:14:28] Don't even think about it. Harard love Harard. He's a gentleman technologist and he always drops
[00:14:36] wisdom and I feel much smarter at the end of it. So if you are going to be an Amsterdam or you're
[00:14:41] going to house of HR, make sure you say hi to us. Another quick announcement we just dropped our
[00:14:48] data. Total podcast. Toby Dayton, CEO of Link Up, gets information that the Wall Street guys are
[00:14:55] accessing. Like people were making money with this information inside of insiders. And you lucky
[00:15:00] listener know cost whatsoever. Get to know the wisdom and the data of Toby Dayton. So you can only
[00:15:07] view this on YouTube. Go to youtube.com slash at Chad cheese. Make sure you subscribe, share, like
[00:15:15] and watch. Do it all. Do it all watch. He's sharing charts and graphs and all that other fun stuff
[00:15:19] that really doesn't translate well on the audio side. So go to YouTube, look for Chad cheese podcast
[00:15:26] and listen. And you don't have to be a genius. We dumb it down for the Chad cheese. Well I
[00:15:31] mean for us. It's got mainly for us. But yeah, you'll understand that you'll digest. You'll consume it.
[00:15:36] You'll love it. Your boss will think you're great and smart just like Chad cheese.
[00:15:44] Chad's Tavis. That's right baby. All right. Big news out of the desert this week. And paradox
[00:15:52] has promoted friend of the show Adam Gotson to CEO with founder Aaron MacTose
[00:15:57] becoming executive chairman. Gotson previously president and chief product officer joined in 2020
[00:16:04] and led the company's initial growth as CEO he aims to continue the company's culture of client
[00:16:10] care and innovation. MacTose will serve as advisor and mentor to the executive team. Nice.
[00:16:18] Focusing on strategic vision and product development. Big news Chad. Big news. Yeah, so it's
[00:16:24] funny because we got this news early because you know, we've got friends. We have friends.
[00:16:30] Adam's a close friend Jay Z amazing and again we talked about this four years ago. Jay Z went
[00:16:39] to a paradox first I believe and then and then Adam did four years ago. Yep. And I said on the show
[00:16:47] Aaron and I think I can say we were both at one time control freaks not that I'm not a control
[00:16:51] freak now but we're both control freaks. And I said that if Aaron gets the fuck out of the way
[00:16:57] and lets these guys run this company will explode they threw that at me this week. Sure.
[00:17:05] But Aaron, I didn't say making CEO but you know, it's not a bad thing. Yeah, I think this is
[00:17:10] amazing paradox. It's funny because they are the alpha in this space. The apex predator.
[00:17:17] They are they are the alpha. They have taken a chatbot to applicant tracking system. I mean
[00:17:25] all the way through the system and as we talk about how do you own this market? You got to go
[00:17:31] down funnel, right? We talked about even the job boards. They need to go more down funnel if
[00:17:35] they want to if they want to be relevant moving on you got to have data why this whole AI thing
[00:17:41] is a thing. Aaron, he understands that they understood that they know data means everything
[00:17:47] and then you got a guy who he is best in class Adam godsson. Nope. In the market he was with
[00:17:55] RPO CLEO for years right doing this exact same thing now he has the cash not just duct tape
[00:18:02] and bailing wire that he had at CLEO to build products he has the firepower to go build whatever
[00:18:09] he wanted to as the chief product officer. Now he is the fucking CEO and then you got Aaron
[00:18:15] still there as chairman. So I am I'm excited. I'm biased as fuck don't get me wrong but I am
[00:18:23] excited to see where these guys go. Yeah, it is a two way street with those guys. Yes, I think
[00:18:27] the love goes both ways from that and we will be in Phoenix soon. So hopefully I don't know
[00:18:35] will be his first interview as CEO but I will take that gig if he wants to give it to us. So
[00:18:42] so I have a special relationship with them in the 2000s I sold what was then in a blog SEO mobile
[00:18:51] kind of mix up of a company worked for Aaron directly for a couple years. I will echo your control
[00:19:01] freak comment although I think the years having children life just sort of has mellowed Aaron a
[00:19:09] little bit. It does that time. Elepper doesn't change its stripes usually so I got three takeaways
[00:19:15] from this. The one is paradox must be doing really well back to the control freak thing Aaron does
[00:19:23] not let go unless it's going really really well and he feels like I can step away. And
[00:19:29] it hasn't been president for long either. No so as much as we know that paradox is doing very well
[00:19:37] my guess is it's even doing better than we think or we talk about so that's my first takeaway.
[00:19:42] Paradox must be crushing it for Aaron to make this move. Number two Aaron highlights the importance
[00:19:50] of CEO as your head of TA. And I don't say that lightly he's a fantastic recruiter. He has built a team
[00:20:01] that is frankly probably unmatched in our little little world of work here. Yeah and most CEOs do not
[00:20:09] focus on the recruitment side of it like Aaron has and we'll continue to do so. So from his board
[00:20:15] of directors his investors. Yeah. His leadership team probably middle management and beyond he's
[00:20:22] had a hand in that. He's had a directive in some of those yeah he's probably gone all out to get
[00:20:28] Adam on board to get Jay Z on board to get these guys on board so he exemplifies the importance
[00:20:34] of CEO as head of talent. Yeah CEO needs to be recruiting and my third takeaway is that he ain't going
[00:20:40] away. I don't know he ain't going away. I'm not leaving. Yeah. This is Wolf Wall Street baby. Yeah you
[00:20:47] got it and I need to anyway, it will probably enable him to focus more on he he does acquisitions
[00:20:55] incredibly well. He's a smart dude and we've talked about consolidation. We've talked about
[00:21:00] TJ Maxx clearance racks. He is going to have time yeah to focus on these acquisitions and start
[00:21:08] knocking him down one by one and just sort of give them to the team to run. So one paradox is
[00:21:14] crushing it two CEO needs to be your head of recruiting and number three Aaron's not going anywhere
[00:21:21] and he'll be unleashed on parts that have been you know less of a focus. It's scary. It's kind
[00:21:26] of scary. It's going to be scary. So there's and I think we're missing one piece that I want to
[00:21:30] hit. We've hit before in the past. Aaron has one superpower that most CEOs in this space do not
[00:21:38] his experience and his failure and failure is learning. Right knowing how determined Aaron is
[00:21:48] right? I don't know as well as you do, but I'm sure that you agree. How determined that dude is
[00:21:54] he wanted to come out as the Phoenix with this paradox right with paradox in Olivia
[00:22:00] and he really has and that's one of the things that we you know we we have to understand is that
[00:22:06] you know failure is a learning experience and you have to pivot off that and you have to become
[00:22:10] better and I just think he has. I really think he has to to you know Adam's point of being
[00:22:18] you know with head of TA there's nobody in the industry that's more likable than that guy
[00:22:24] maybe Jay Z right? The two most likable guy in the industry are leaders in that organization
[00:22:31] amazing. Yes and don't discount Aaron going from what was arguably a top five six job board
[00:22:40] nationally yeah and starting this little bitty chatbot side project that has become what it has
[00:22:48] become there's a lot of humble pie. Yeah. Humble pie needs to be eaten a lot of you know looks
[00:22:54] in the mirror and that's not easy to do. Now he he he wants commented in the meeting that hey if
[00:23:00] we're going to be disrupted I want to be the one that's doing the disrupting yeah which is good
[00:23:04] advice for any organization but he ate that dog food and he disrupted his own job board business.
[00:23:11] That's maturity yeah that is if anything matures you I've failed I've crashed in burn with products
[00:23:18] and shit like that what I've learned out of that is immense I mean it is and and I feel like
[00:23:24] I've been a better person out of learning out of that. So again I think he he has a superpower
[00:23:30] where most founders in the space experience wise they do not yeah and knowing Aaron as I do he's
[00:23:37] hating all this sunshine being blown up his ass so hey dude I have been one of Aaron's biggest
[00:23:44] critics for years we we have been on opposite sides of the fence even from litigation standpoint
[00:23:52] at a company that I was with and in a company he was with right yeah I'm not going to blow
[00:23:57] sunshine unless unless he deserves it right okay but he still he's on the other is telling you
[00:24:03] you're on the other hand you're you're a sunshine he's it and he's thinking all his companies listen

[00:25:33] all right we are back day two transform conference at the win in beautiful
[00:25:39] Las Vegas Nevada let's transform with the topics Swedish private equity investor eqt partners has
[00:25:48] put up its hand for Melbourne australia borne human resources software business
[00:25:54] page up where us tech investor battery ventures wants to part with its 80% stake sources told
[00:26:02] street talk eqt partners was among parties that tabled a non-binding indicative bid to sell
[00:26:10] side advisor william blare last month british p-investor permira is also understood to have shown
[00:26:17] interest although it is unclear if it submitted an offer the sharks are out looking for deals Chad
[00:26:24] what's your take on the page up news yeah i mean we talked about page up coming out publicly and
[00:26:29] saying hey we were ready to sell yep we're ready to sell i mean it that was amazing right you never
[00:26:34] hear that shit happens behind closed doors and they said hey market we want to sell
[00:26:41] and uh well apparently they have takers yeah apparently they have takers which is awesome
[00:26:45] here's the cool thing and again this is all rumor maybe it's you know this is the good stuff everybody
[00:26:52] a social post from dan finnegan you might know this guy dan finnegan uh actually says um
[00:26:59] they're speaking of the Beatles off to melbourne for a few days and then Sydney for a day just so I
[00:27:06] can be back by the following monday so he's gone to australia yep in a whirlwind tour dan finnegan
[00:27:14] now who's dan finnegan jol dan finnegan is a mover and shaker CEO executive that cut his teeth at hot
[00:27:22] jobs yahu yes back in the early two thousand uh he took job right yes yes got them acquired
[00:27:30] got them a payday applicant tracking system uh huh uh uh he helped oversee some acquisitions
[00:27:38] there at least start the process yes and now he's at uh start up and probably knows a few money guys
[00:27:45] and call those money guys and said hey why don't we uh you know go see what's up see if there's
[00:27:50] an opportunity here could be and uh our sources on the ground yes we're like TMZ now yeah rumors
[00:27:57] yeah we were getting all this we're getting all this stuff from all of our sources rumor again
[00:28:03] there's an opportunity here will dan actually prospectively take the CEO position knowing that
[00:28:08] page ups CEO more than likely wants to eject right now or at least that's what we're hearing from
[00:28:13] sources i don't know about that he might be on the ground for due diligence because he is uh an
[00:28:18] ats CEO and he has background in that uh or could he be coming in as an advisor right due diligence
[00:28:26] advisory that kind of thing no matter what when you've got a guy with that kind of firepower
[00:28:33] making a world win tour to australia to be able to go through a in again this is speculation might
[00:28:40] be coincidence but that's fucking doubtful what do you think unless he's got a pinch that i have for
[00:28:46] blooming onions and a nice a nice foster beer i'm so sorry australians are our friends in australia
[00:28:54] i'm sorry going to australia and the time it takes to get there is not something that you would uh
[00:29:00] take lightly so dan right now is it filtered who's raised ten million dollars uh when he joined
[00:29:06] at job bite they were nobody yeah it was pretty shocking that someone that had been at yahu hot jobs
[00:29:13] would leave that to go to this little job by it was social media that's exciting though
[00:29:19] social media ats uh was there at pitch at the time but dan has these ways of joining small companies
[00:29:26] that you've never heard of seeing promise seeing a team that can can make bigger things yeah
[00:29:32] if they just add water and maybe page up is the water that needs to be added to uh to the company
[00:29:40] possibly my take was that there were seven eight years into the uh battery ventures money uh uh
[00:29:46] that it was the the road the clock and run out it was time the the battery ventures wanted to get
[00:29:51] their money that maybe they weren't doing as well i think only the ats businesses is is is
[00:29:56] dressed i think that it's it's tough right now to make a dollar you normally are able to sell it
[00:30:02] on the down low where no one knows your for sale but to to announce we want to do this
[00:30:08] that is like we're not getting enough buyers yeah by the hush hush down low yeah we need to get a big
[00:30:13] well you know uh put a bigger net out there so i still don't believe that page up is crushing it
[00:30:18] and i think they're they are motivated sellers and and dan or whoever comes in uh we'll get
[00:30:25] a fine property and if they can uh create efficiencies build brand uh more globally or do something
[00:30:32] different it could be the next job bite for sure the new company or page up becomes something else
[00:30:36] so i thought this was awesome that we have people on the ground that see that yeah listen to the show
[00:30:41] know who people are like hey uh you guys might want to know about check this in finnegan yeah
[00:30:46] being in australia yeah yeah it's it's pretty amazing i mean australia is not a big enough market
[00:30:51] in itself from a gross standpoint for p e right no you need to expand they said they want to come to the
[00:30:57] us why i've not seen them successfully coming to the us okay uh so again dan finnegan network yep
[00:31:05] i don't know just trying to put all the dots together kids and by the way he may know a few executives
[00:31:10] that want to get out of their current uh imagine the employer again network man and build build a team
[00:31:16] similar to what uh Aaron has done yeah uh paradox by the way speaking of consolidation yes knowing
[00:31:21] that dan finnegan and aaron me tose are going to be on the hunt for new opportunities and acquisitions
[00:31:27] it's gonna be a fun time for the show it will be if if that if that trend continues well let's say
[00:31:32] another break okay we'll come back and talk about our friends at veritone got it

[00:32:27] visit us at acquire roi.com and start transforming your talent acquisition today Tony Tony Tony Tony has
[00:32:34] done it again. It feels good. Jobico has relaunched the job network touting itself as North America's
[00:32:40] largest recruitment ad network powered by their AI enabled job board platform and veritone's
[00:32:46] programmatic ad distribution technology. Hello. Chad there's a lot to unpack here your thoughts on
[00:32:53] the veritone jobico job network marriage. Yeah this is smart for both organizations easily and
[00:33:01] first and foremost veritone friend of the show sponsor the show they've been fairly distressed lately
[00:33:07] right I mean AI has taken a hit because of all the fan companies doing AI and I mean this is not
[00:33:13] going to the moon last time I checked there's a ton of shit going on although what does veritone need
[00:33:18] they need a bigger footprint right need a bigger boat we've always talked about this right this
[00:33:22] footprint is amazing because you're talking about like 150 plus job boards in North America plus
[00:33:28] the EU right so you've got all these mainly dock region but at the end of the day man your footprint
[00:33:34] grows the EU is not as advanced with regard to programmatic as the the US is although for
[00:33:41] the job of go side of the house now they now they're evolving and we've said that if job boards
[00:33:46] want to stay alive they have to evolve amazing you automatically have this programmatic performance
[00:33:53] based technology in your system and you can offer it to every single at hundreds at thousands
[00:33:59] of job board clients right press the button turnkey and then jobico I guarantee you has a
[00:34:06] transactional cut that they take off of it amazing so they get their sass play they get their
[00:34:11] transactional play and who's the big who's the big brother this thing veritones power powering
[00:34:17] the whole fucking thing so this to me again is incredibly smart broad bean is in play obviously
[00:34:23] because of the acquisition of veritone so many moving parts you know we've been talking really short
[00:34:30] term that you know I know sock hasn't looked good they have all the pieces to be able to make
[00:34:36] this work and we've just been sitting back and saying what the fuck are they gonna do yeah
[00:34:39] this is I think big it could be for sure we'll keep around it yeah the job network and not
[00:34:45] to turn this into a nostalgic Aaron Meito's edition of the Chen Cheese podcast but tell me a story
[00:34:51] I got named Scott Molotor started the job network way back in the day out of Milwaukee built up
[00:34:58] these great domains that were all city focused while Aaron was a jobbing in Arizona getting all
[00:35:04] the the state names and certainly rush for for those local states so the job network for a long
[00:35:10] was just this juggernaut of SEO goodness before indeed came along and and figured that out
[00:35:15] I think they kind of owned any city change the algorithm yeah they just never kept up Scott sold
[00:35:22] the company 2016 probably really good timing on his part yes because of the changes we've seen
[00:35:29] in the industry but it has sort of been this dilapidated house just waiting for someone on from
[00:35:36] the hg tv crew it needed a refurb oh yeah you know put in some new drywall fresh coat of pain and
[00:35:42] really focus on what the business could be yeah I think veritone sees that opportunity you and
[00:35:49] I knew early on about the pando veritone the broad bean veritone kind of connection and I think we
[00:35:55] saw what it could be but we thought like you said they'd need a bigger boat this is one of the
[00:36:01] few job board properties networks if you will that they can plug and play put our jobs through share
[00:36:08] revenue we've got instant traffic now we have a line to Europe which I think is maybe the most
[00:36:13] interesting part of of the story oh yeah they need to SEO it they need to like leverage every
[00:36:21] free option social media and the technology behind veritone to create content which I don't
[00:36:27] think they've even unlocked yet to create content and video content and multiple languages oh god if
[00:36:33] that opens up a whole new whole new way to drive traffic to these sites yeah that becomes pretty
[00:36:38] interesting so all right going to be on this we know that our relationship with them they'll keep us
[00:36:44] in tune to what's going on yeah but yeah this this is one of the few moves you can see in the
[00:36:48] job board space these days outside of steppstone buying career builder and monster which I still
[00:36:54] content will not happen until it does this is definitely something something to a lot well and again
[00:37:01] you talk about the SEO side of the house so you've got martin lents on the job of the side of the house
[00:37:06] right they are going to be working that avenue this is a divide and conquer type of scenario
[00:37:11] and I love that partnerships until you buy them right you know and that could happen maybe not I think
[00:37:17] in this point working as two separate entities as partners that know their shit and they're incredibly
[00:37:24] focused and disciplined on their shit I think it could be it could be magic and it could be magic
[00:37:29] for both of them but mainly first off for job echo because all of these job board platforms that are
[00:37:35] out there are getting old and dusty and I mean there aren't there aren't a lot of really good up to
[00:37:42] date ones that are out there job echo is it's top shelf will job board start kicking over to their
[00:37:49] network and using this new tech instead I think job postings are just the start I mean I could see where
[00:37:56] there's a pre screening tool driven by veritone AI interviews wait Wendy chat wait and Wendy does
[00:38:02] this chat come into play of you know I don't have a resume it's a it's a warehouse job like yeah chat
[00:38:09] bots right there to take your resume as a chat and a conversation it's just some questions
[00:38:14] mobile friendly they're it's so yeah I think this is just starting with posting jobs and getting more
[00:38:20] exposure for those jobs yeah I'm excited this this has been a fantastic show with a lot of optimism
[00:38:26] of companies doing really interesting things look at you not being just don't we get to talk about
[00:38:30] Blooming onions and fosters and Australia there's a blackjack table and a lunch buffet calling my name
[00:38:38] Chad this has been a hell of a week another episode in the can we out wow look at you you made it
