Speaker 1: are you someone who wants to be fit but always lose motivation and fail to strict your exercise and diet? In this episode, I will share a simple system that will help you stop losing and start winning in your fitness journey. Namaskar and welcome to the Stronger Men project. Thank you for tuning in. Today you have come to the right place. If you are a man who desire to be a stronger fitter and a better looking version of yourself and want to be a better man and fulfil your fullest potential in all areas of life.
Speaker 1: I'm one such man and the host of this podcast, I'm a Desai, a mechanical engineer turned fitness coach and a gym owner based in a city called Harvard. In the last five years, as a fitness coach, I have helped over 800 people through my fitness, coaching and training. Now let's get to today's topic.
Speaker 1: First of all, let me tell you that fitness is tough. Exercise and control diet are against normal human behaviour.
Speaker 1: It is uncomfortable, and it takes a lot of effort and time. But normal human behaviour is to avoid discomfort and to avoid effort And if you're someone who is struggling to adopt a fitness lifestyle and stay consistent with your diet and exercise, what that means is you're just a normal human being. And now if you are someone who doesn't want to be a normal human being but want to be a fit human being,
Speaker 1: then I'll share a system with which you can actually be successful in your fitness journey.
Speaker 1: So the first thing
Speaker 1: lot of people want to be fit, but there are hardly any people who want to be a fit person.
Speaker 1: What I mean by this is people want to lose weight. People want to lose belly fat and build a strong looking physique, which is the end goal of fitness. But most people do not want to adopt the habits and the lifestyle of a fit person. That means exercising regularly, taking care of your diet and maintaining a healthy routine and being disciplined.
Speaker 1: This is the difference between a person who desires to be fit and person who really becomes fit. A fit person is someone who adopts these habits and lifestyle and stay consistent with them so that he achieves the results he is expecting so the first thing I would like to tell you is you become a fit person instead of focusing on the end. Results and end results only focus on the systems and the habits a person has to follow to achieve those goals. That is what a fit person is,
Speaker 1: and a lot of times it happens that people don't have enough motivation to start on their fitness journey. For that, what you have to do is you have to set a very, very highly ambitious and emotionally important goal for you.
Speaker 1: What I mean by that is the goal should be such that it should be very, very desirable for you. And it has to have a strong why behind it, the reason behind it, and you should have a purpose behind it. And it has to be important to you something which will excite you something which will
Speaker 1: energise you to take action. Start that fitness journey, or go and get the gym membership. Or start researching on what kind of diet you have to follow, or go pay someone who is a fitness coach and help you to start in your fitness journey.
Speaker 1: Once you have set a very, very strong, ambitious goal That is not the end of it. It will only motivate you. But motivation is only short lived, and you have to replace it immediately with two types of goals. One is systems goal, and the other one is progress goals.
Speaker 1: What I mean by system's goal is
Speaker 1: it is a system you follow to achieve your goal. It may be the exercise you do. It may be the diet you follow. It may be how many times you work out in a week. It may be the things you want to stop doing in the day to day life. That is a system you've chosen. For example, the system I have chosen is strength training. I go lift weights in a gym, and I like lifting heavy weights. And I follow a structure diet, which is high protein diet and which is a potion controlled diet.
Speaker 1: And what I mean by progress goals is you have to track your progress. Let's say you want to lose weight, then you have to track your weight, and periodically you should see some progress. That means you should be losing weight gradually, or let's say you want to lose belly fat, then you have to measure your belly circumference, and every 2 to 4 weeks you should see progress in your measurements. That means you should keep losing inches in your belly area.
Speaker 1: And once you have set your systems and your progress goals, you have to
Speaker 1: focus on these things. Instead of focusing on the end result, you have to focus on being that person who follows the system and who tracks his progress. What this does is it will give you a road map to achieve your goal. That is your systems and by the way of tracking your progress. You know, if you're making progress or not, that if you're making progress, that will actually motivate you to continue the system. If you're not making progress, that means you have to make changes to your system. That is where it is self correcting.
Speaker 1: And once you start following your systems, you have to make sure that every small step you take every small changes you make in your routine. You have to treat it as a win. Let's say you started exercising, and once you finish your exercise, you have to acknowledge it and you have to celebrate it as a win. Let's say you made changes to your eating habits, and after you've finished a meal, you have to acknowledge it as a win
Speaker 1: and celebrate it as a win. By that way, it will motivate you, and it will encourage you to keep doing that again and again and again. That is how you build momentum and stay consistent with whatever system you're following. The next thing you have to keep in mind is, don't be in a hurry. Don't compare yourself to other people.
Speaker 1: You don't know what situation they are in. You have a completely unique situation of your own. You do everything possible in your ability and be patient with the results.
Speaker 1: If you're getting results, that is well and fine. If you're not getting results, then do your research and make changes to your system, or consult a coach or an expert who can help you and guide you through the journey.
Speaker 1: And during your journey, it might happen that you might miss some days. You might miss a workout today or you might fail to follow your meal. As per the plan, it is fine to miss because Rome is not built in a single day,
Speaker 1: and so is your fitness. It takes time, and it doesn't matter if you miss one day. A lot of people, when they miss, they start feeling it's not for them. They start having negative self talks. They start feeling it is not for them and they eventually quit. Don't be that person. And remember, the only way you can fail is by quitting.
Speaker 1: It might also happen that some life event may come in your way. It may be a festival or an event at home. It may be travel. It may be busy in your work or it may be any personal life events, but you have to keep in mind that it is only short lived and temporary. It is a season
Speaker 1: it will pass. Once that event has passed, you can go back to your baseline routine. That is the systems you have set up that is regular exercise and the diet plan, which you have been following it is that simple? A lot of people go off track when some life events happen and discontinue their fitness journey. It's OK to take breaks in between it's OK if we cannot follow the system for a few days or, let's say a few weeks. Also, it is fine. Once it is done and over, get back to your normal routine or what I call a baseline routine.
Speaker 1: That's it for today's episode. And if you follow these few things which I have explained in this episode, you will definitely succeed in your fitness journey and be able to set up a sustainable fitness lifestyle.
Speaker 1: This is the exact system I have followed, and this is the exact system I teach my own students and this system has been very, very successful.
Speaker 1: And if you want to take this further and learn this system in depth, I'm conducting a workshop called Ticket to Transformation, where I'll take you through the process of setting right goals and setting right expectation and going through the process of transformation, how it happens and how to tackle the obstacles that come your way. It is also a system followed by world champions and high achievers all over the world.
Speaker 1: The workshop is completely live. I will also be able to answer any questions you have during the workshop
Speaker 1: and it is usually held on weekends. The next one is on, uh, coming Sunday. That is on seventh of January.
