[00:00:12] Secrets of Kedarnath
[00:00:15] Among various ancient stories of Adiyogi, the establishment of Kedarnath holds a unique spiritual importance.
[00:00:23] After killing their fellow brothers in Gurukshetra, Pandavas were burning in guilt-conscious.
[00:00:30] To get rid of it, they wanted to seek forgiveness from Lord Shiva and started looking for him.
[00:00:37] But Mahadeva was unhappy with their deeds and so was hiding from the Pandavas disguised as a bull in Guptakashi.
[00:00:47] After a tremendous searching, Bhim could identify him and hugged him tight.
[00:00:53] Upon this, unhappy and angry Mahadev divided himself into five pieces out of which his hump fell on Kedarnath and is being worshipped thereafter.
[00:01:05] This is why the Shiva Linga in Kedarnath is triangular in shape.
[00:01:10] The other four parts, namely the arms are in Tungnath, abdomen is in Madhya Maheshwar, hair in Kalpeshwar and face is being worshipped in Rudranath.
[00:01:24] According to Hindu Shastras, Kedarnath is popular as one of the 12 Jyothir Lingas in India.
[00:01:31] It is said that the spiritual powers of this place still show their presence in people's lives.
[00:01:38] After the flash floods arriving from glacier melting on 16th and 17th June 2013, the whole area was destroyed.
[00:01:48] But no big damage was caused to this temple.
[00:01:53] It is said that a huge piece of rock had stumbled from an unknown place and put itself at the back of the temple.
[00:02:02] According to geologists, it is because of this rock the mighty Mandakini flood was divided into two halves and so the temple was saved from the disaster.
[00:02:14] This rock has thereafter been named as Bhimshila and worshipped thereby.
[00:02:20] It is said that K means heaven or swarga and Dhar stands for gateway or dwar.
[00:02:27] Kedarnath is hence called the gateway to heaven.
