[00:00:11] Ratjhatra, a colourful festival in India is celebrated with utmost joy and enthusiasm.

[00:00:19] The word Rat means a chariot or a cart pulled by horses.

[00:00:26] Lord Jagannath's Ratjhatra has been mentioned in Brahmapuran and Skandpuran.

[00:00:33] It is celebrated mainly in Puri which means land of the supreme soul.

[00:00:40] As the lord of the universe himself lives in this place, Puri is considered to be one of the most sacred places in the world.

[00:00:50] Ratjhatra begins with the chariot of Jagannath's elder brother Balubhadra.

[00:00:57] His blue coloured rat is called the Taladwaj with 14 wheels and a height of about 40 feet.

[00:01:14] It has a height of about 43 feet with 12 wheels and is red in colour.

[00:01:20] Subhadra's chariot is also called Padmadwaj due to the lotus sign on its flag.

[00:01:27] At last comes the rat of Lord Jagannath and is called Nandi Ghosh.

[00:01:34] It bears a picture of Kapiraj Hanuman on its flag and hence famously called Kapidwaj.

[00:01:42] It is about 45 feet in height with 16 wheels and yellow in colour.

[00:01:49] Even if all the chariots are differently huge, the upper parts are all the same and red in colour.
