[00:00:02] Picture this. You're in the garage, hands covered in grease. Just finished tuning up your engine with a part you found on eBay. And then you realize, you know what, I could also use new brakes. So where do you go next? Back to eBay. You can find anything there. It's unreal. Wipers, headlights, even cold air intakes. It's all there. And you've got eBay guaranteed fit.
[00:00:28] You order a part and if it doesn't fit, send it back. Simple as that. Look, DIY fixes can be major. Doesn't matter if it's just maintenance or a major mod. You got it. Especially when things are guaranteed to fit. So, when you dive into your next car project, start with eBay.
[00:00:49] All the parts you need, at prices you'll love. Guaranteed to fit, every time. eBay, things people love.
[00:01:19] It's happening, guys. We are in the same place at the same time. It's unbelievable. One of you, one of us rather actually has had to fly down for this. We've had to book a studio. We've had to put a setup where we can barely see each other so that you guys can see each other for the first time. Welcome to the first video episode of the Inside Line F1 Awards. And we've been doing this for years now, haven't we, Kunala? I remember this going back almost a decade now.
[00:01:44] Absolutely. It's been a decade. It's the Inside Line F1 Parody Awards, my most awaited episode of the year. We can trash talk. We can have all the fun, relive all the memories.
[00:01:58] And, you know, there's a reason why it's a parody award. Firstly, I don't watch awards. But I know that when you see an award, you're like, that was not a deserving winner. I can think of three other deserving winners. Trust me, that's what's going to happen this awards episode as well.
[00:02:14] That's the FIA action of the year. How come they gave that? That's not the action of the year. By the way, they gave it to Sergio Perez for a very calm double overtake when Alex Albon did what he did in Montreal and swooped past a couple of cars in the wet with no space at all. So already, we're criticizing the FIA in minute two of the episode.
[00:02:33] And there'll be more of that. There'll be more of that. And I see, this is the thing that I love about this episode. We do it once a year. And I wish we could actually record together more often.
[00:02:44] But I have to mention this every single time we do these awards because I think it goes the same for you. We've watched or we've listened to this episode every year, listening to Kunal and Mithila.
[00:02:54] And the interesting bit and the fun bit is we're actually being a part of it for the past couple of years. So it feels great to be here. And I'm very excited to get through all the categories for today.
[00:03:04] And the winner is never who you think it is. What's this all about, Kunal? Why is the winner never who we think it is?
[00:03:12] Because, you know, usually when you see awards, especially in motorsport, you know, fan voted awards, driver of the day awards, it's all down to popular fan bases.
[00:03:22] Okay. And back in time, 10, maybe 12 years ago, when I thought of this thing, I said, let's just disappoint everybody.
[00:03:30] But let everybody have fun because every nomination is not your regular nomination.
[00:03:36] Every category is not your regular category. And let's put it out there.
[00:03:40] The amount of hard work that the three of us have put in to this is there are 24 races.
[00:03:46] Okay. Which means I'm just going to round it off to 25. It's easier for my math.
[00:03:50] Okay. That's three days, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
[00:03:53] Okay. So that's 75 days.
[00:03:55] You take two media days per race.
[00:03:58] What's 25 times five or five times 25, 125.
[00:04:02] Right.
[00:04:03] So 125 out of 365 days.
[00:04:06] We have to add sprints to it.
[00:04:08] We have to add car launches, pre-season testing.
[00:04:11] When you put that whole package together, it's one in every two days of the year.
[00:04:16] Literally.
[00:04:17] Every day of the year.
[00:04:17] We're thinking about F1 every day of the year.
[00:04:20] Yeah.
[00:04:21] Every day.
[00:04:21] All of that goes into this episode.
[00:04:25] So there will be recency biases.
[00:04:26] But we have gone back to think of every possible incident through the year.
[00:04:33] So if Lance Stroll has gone into the gravel just in Brazil, we will actually remind you
[00:04:36] what he did in pre-season testing to test the car in the gravel in Brazil, for example.
[00:04:42] Exactly.
[00:04:43] But it's crazy, right?
[00:04:44] Because we've traveled the world or at least a lot of it this year.
[00:04:50] You through your broadcast duties and being with Kush Maini at the Formula 1 test that
[00:04:54] he was doing in Austria firstly, then so many others that he's also had.
[00:04:58] We've done the Indian Racing League together this year.
[00:05:00] We've been to so many places where racing is the last thing that should come to your mind.
[00:05:05] But we're always talking about that, like traveling on flights or going on road journeys
[00:05:08] or just randomly being at a place, just discovering it.
[00:05:11] And then you go like, ah, Formula 1.
[00:05:13] Like I remember, we were just roaming around the streets of Chennai last year.
[00:05:17] And that's the last, last place where we should have had a Formula 1 conversation.
[00:05:21] But even that happened over there.
[00:05:23] You know, the interesting thing is we all have day jobs and you don't have a day job,
[00:05:27] but then you have college as well.
[00:05:28] Not anymore.
[00:05:29] Hey, I'm free now.
[00:05:30] I'm a free bird.
[00:05:32] He's not got his result yet.
[00:05:33] He's not got his result yet.
[00:05:35] But the interesting thing is we never talk about our personal lives at all.
[00:05:39] We never talk about personal lives.
[00:05:41] We don't talk.
[00:05:42] We talk a little bit about relationships, but then every time the three of us come together,
[00:05:45] it's always racing and it's always Formula 1, no matter where it is.
[00:05:49] We have a flight to catch tomorrow and we are most likely going to be discussing Formula 1 content
[00:05:54] and racing during the journey, after we check in the taxi ride to the track.
[00:06:00] So this is what really runs through our mind throughout the year,
[00:06:03] just like how Formula 1 happens throughout the year.
[00:06:06] You're constantly on it.
[00:06:07] And we've got some incredible categories for that.
[00:06:10] So because it's an award show, we will have different awards for you, right?
[00:06:13] We have, first up, the introduction of the year.
[00:06:17] And it has to be, right?
[00:06:19] We're introducing the awards to people.
[00:06:20] So we have to start out with the introduction of the year.
[00:06:23] And by the way, the nominations are going to get wild.
[00:06:26] And as we've mentioned before, the winner is never who you think it is.
[00:06:30] First up, introduction of the year for me, a firm candidate, GM.
[00:06:35] When they came in, they were, it looked like they were on the losing side of trying to get into Formula 1.
[00:06:41] But at the end of it all, remove Michael and Reti from the equation, bring in manufacture support.
[00:06:46] And that's it.
[00:06:47] Your entry is guaranteed.
[00:06:49] That three-year-long fight is finally done.
[00:06:51] And that to me is an introduction because at the end of it all, even the teams were confused.
[00:06:55] And they said, I don't know.
[00:06:58] I remember Toto Wolff coming to the media and saying, I'm not sure if GM will particularly expand the pot for us.
[00:07:04] But here they are.
[00:07:05] They've barged their way in finally.
[00:07:07] I think it's also the strategy of the year.
[00:07:10] The main hire.
[00:07:11] They've gone and hired all these F1, former F1 people, Nick Chester and several other really big names from the paddock.
[00:07:18] Didn't they hire the guy who was actually the technical director for Formula 1?
[00:07:23] Yeah, exactly.
[00:07:23] So they've gone and done those big hires.
[00:07:25] They set up a factory.
[00:07:27] Despite being told no at every step on the way.
[00:07:30] Like, no, you're not getting in.
[00:07:31] No, you're not getting in.
[00:07:32] No, you're not getting in.
[00:07:33] And they still...
[00:07:34] That's a crazy confidence.
[00:07:34] Yeah.
[00:07:35] I mean, maybe they knew that something's happening.
[00:07:37] But their biggest hire were two lobbying firms that pressured the US Congress.
[00:07:43] So ultimately, politics was the big winner.
[00:07:46] And this is also a great introduction to new fans.
[00:07:49] Just to tell you all that, yes, it's a sport.
[00:07:51] Yes, it's a business.
[00:07:52] But it's also a political game.
[00:07:54] And we know who won this game.
[00:07:55] I think very clearly it's Andretti who won this game.
[00:08:00] Which Andretti?
[00:08:01] Andretti the team or Michael Andretti?
[00:08:02] I would say both, right?
[00:08:04] Because ultimately, it's his baby.
[00:08:06] They're just renaming things to Cadillac.
[00:08:08] They'll tell Andretti, we'll give you a pass, but don't show up at all the races.
[00:08:12] He's eventually in this for the money.
[00:08:14] He's not driving anymore.
[00:08:15] And he's going to make all the money.
[00:08:17] He is going to make all the money.
[00:08:19] But then I would have really loved to see that Andretti name in Formula One once again.
[00:08:22] It's a name that comes with a lot of history.
[00:08:25] It comes with a lot of...
[00:08:27] I mean, it's a decorated name in all of motorsport.
[00:08:30] Not just Formula One.
[00:08:31] Even in America especially.
[00:08:33] I would have really loved to see that name once again.
[00:08:34] But either way, whoever runs that team, it's nice to have 11th team on the grid after a very, very long time.
[00:08:41] Two more seats available.
[00:08:43] Who's going to take that?
[00:08:44] So lots of interesting conversations around that.
[00:08:48] But yeah, I actually love having this as one of the nominations today.
[00:08:51] But that's one.
[00:08:53] Oliver Bearman also has to count for introduction of the year.
[00:08:55] I mean, what he did in Saudi Arabia coming in for Carlos Sainz after appendix.
[00:09:00] Have we all just forgotten the appendix thing?
[00:09:01] Remember, there was a time where you lose an appendix and you end up winning a Formula One race.
[00:09:05] Even that was a weird coincidence.
[00:09:07] But Bearman definitely has to be there.
[00:09:09] Bearman's up there because he was in Formula Two and he didn't have, I think, the best of starts to the season as well.
[00:09:14] And no one really expected him to come in and put in such a performance.
[00:09:18] I think he finished P7 with barely one practice session and one qualifying and he was straight into it.
[00:09:24] And he came back and he did well.
[00:09:26] Where was it?
[00:09:26] In Baku and Brazil as well.
[00:09:29] So, some very late call-ups and he's impressed.
[00:09:33] And Brazil was a little bit of a learning for him as well, I'm sure.
[00:09:36] The rain, the tricky conditions, not the best of races.
[00:09:39] But I'm very excited to see Oliver Bearman next year as well.
[00:09:43] Other nominations.
[00:09:44] Yeah, Flavio Briatore.
[00:09:45] Does he even need an introduction?
[00:09:47] You know what?
[00:09:48] We should just do this because we're going to mention Flavio Briatore a lot.
[00:09:52] Yeah.
[00:09:52] So, for a lot of people coming in, looking at this Italian dealmaker who's now at the head of Alpine who was apparently banned.
[00:09:59] What should they know about this guy, Kunal?
[00:10:01] I will always remember him as the person who brought race fixing to Formula One.
[00:10:06] Sorry, Flavio.
[00:10:07] You could have made Michael win all his titles, the first two of them, turned around Benetton, whatever.
[00:10:12] But I'm still not able to let go of that race cheating scandal we saw.
[00:10:18] So, Flavio Briatore, definitely.
[00:10:20] Liam Lawson, again, does he even need an introduction?
[00:10:23] I mean, I'm looking forward to seeing him do a full season, getting enough time in the car instead every time in the car he's told.
[00:10:29] That could be a last session and then all he does is fights with Alonso and Perez and everyone else.
[00:10:34] He's the old person beater, you know.
[00:10:37] Any old person he sees behind him, he just makes their life so much harder.
[00:10:41] It's funny.
[00:10:42] Yeah, I think it was in Qatar where Lawson was blocked by an Aston Martin and he said,
[00:10:46] Alonso blocked me and his race engineer was like, nah, nah, it was actually a stroll.
[00:10:51] So, just how much Alonso sits in his rival's heads doesn't matter their age.
[00:10:55] And Perez.
[00:10:56] And Perez.
[00:10:56] And Perez as well.
[00:10:57] In Mexico.
[00:10:58] Of all places.
[00:10:59] In Mexico.
[00:11:01] That was brutality, man.
[00:11:03] But we also have Franco Colopinto.
[00:11:06] Franco Colopinto.
[00:11:07] Someone who was literally brought into the team.
[00:11:09] Very last moment, Logan Sargent chucked away after a bad race in the Netherlands.
[00:11:15] And he's come and he's done well.
[00:11:17] You think so?
[00:11:18] Well enough to get a seat?
[00:11:20] He's done fairly well to have an...
[00:11:23] He's made an impression at least.
[00:11:24] Of course, there's a lot of learning for him to do.
[00:11:26] But then he's been an exciting talent on the grid.
[00:11:29] Okay, okay.
[00:11:30] You know what?
[00:11:30] No, one second.
[00:11:31] I'll tell you the learning that's to be done.
[00:11:33] It's actually all of us.
[00:11:34] It's Oscar Piastri.
[00:11:36] He said, I want to learn Spanish.
[00:11:38] So I can laugh more at Colopinto's interviews.
[00:11:42] Because he literally told Colopinto, I've seen...
[00:11:45] I've heard that your Spanish interviews are really funny.
[00:11:47] So that's the learning I would love for all of us to do for Franco Colopinto.
[00:11:52] But you're right.
[00:11:52] I think Formula One is going through that Franco Colopinto effect.
[00:11:56] If a Colopinto who was not regarded so highly in Formula Two, despite he was being...
[00:12:00] You know, running in the top five, which I think is pretty good.
[00:12:04] Sunli is doing well.
[00:12:05] Christian Honor is like, hmm, should Isaac Harjar be doing better?
[00:12:08] Who almost was in the title fight till the last round of the season.
[00:12:12] So there is Colopinto.
[00:12:13] No, there are two things I like about Colopinto.
[00:12:15] First of all, not just about Colopinto, but we've spoken about Beb and we've spoke about Harjar.
[00:12:20] All the young drivers from Formula Two, whenever they've been given an opportunity, they've fared decently well.
[00:12:25] No one's had a poor outing as such.
[00:12:27] So the young drivers are doing well.
[00:12:29] But also the fact that the sort of excitement that Colopinto brings also into Formula One,
[00:12:33] all the Argentinian fans and everyone really rallying and really pushing and encouraging him at Brazil.
[00:12:39] That's very fresh to see in Formula One these days, especially for a young driver.
[00:12:43] So I actually like having him up there.
[00:12:46] Yeah, it's good, right?
[00:12:47] A driver that brings in money and talent.
[00:12:50] We just need to find a space for him.
[00:12:51] And I get a feeling we might not have seen the end of him.
[00:12:56] There might be opportunities coming up.
[00:12:57] You never know, right?
[00:12:58] 11th team coming up.
[00:12:59] You could probably look at the money and get Franco Colopinto and see what's worth.
[00:13:02] Or even the 10th team.
[00:13:04] I mean, the next nomination in the introduction of the year is Jack Doohan,
[00:13:08] who almost didn't have an introduction.
[00:13:10] Even though he's motorsport royalty.
[00:13:12] But if Doohan doesn't do well, I think Flavio Briatore can be trusted to be like,
[00:13:19] you know what?
[00:13:20] You're out.
[00:13:20] I need to give the other driver a seat.
[00:13:23] Bring in all the Argentinian money.
[00:13:25] Paint the engine cover half yellow.
[00:13:28] Say there are Argentinian sponsors.
[00:13:30] And have a shot at more points.
[00:13:33] So there is Jack Doohan.
[00:13:35] You're basically saying Flavio Briatore is going to disappoint someone with racing lineage.
[00:13:40] And he's not the only one who's been disappointed this year with racing lineage.
[00:13:43] Mick Schumacher as well.
[00:13:45] And Flavio Briatore famously said,
[00:13:47] and this is going to be a nomination later on in the episode as well.
[00:13:50] He very famously said,
[00:13:52] it doesn't matter who's driving the Ipn in 2025.
[00:13:54] It doesn't matter.
[00:13:56] Precisely why there's a chance he might make that change.
[00:13:59] It doesn't matter at all.
[00:14:01] According to him.
[00:14:02] You could put a monkey in that car and it could be fine with him.
[00:14:05] Yeah.
[00:14:05] In a way, he's absolutely right.
[00:14:08] He comes from the Bernie Eccleston era.
[00:14:10] He said the easiest to change in a car is the driver,
[00:14:13] which is actually true.
[00:14:15] It's such a breath of fresh air, right?
[00:14:17] So Flavio has been mentioned twice.
[00:14:19] Is he the winner though, Kuna?
[00:14:21] No, he's not.
[00:14:21] There are more nominees I'm going to quickly read out.
[00:14:25] Artificial intelligence and racing.
[00:14:27] Do you guys remember that AI cars went racing in Suzuka,
[00:14:31] went underneath the tunnel.
[00:14:32] The sensors actually couldn't reflect the change in shadow and light.
[00:14:37] And then boom,
[00:14:38] the car just spun around because the sensors couldn't read it.
[00:14:40] So that was the introduction.
[00:14:42] That's AI still getting there.
[00:14:44] Luckily,
[00:14:44] not going to take our favorite driver's parts.
[00:14:46] But there's also Hamilton to Ferrari.
[00:14:49] And I'll tell you what the introduction here is to Carlos Sainz Sr.
[00:14:54] Because Carlos Sainz Sr.
[00:14:56] tipped off Toto Wolff saying,
[00:14:58] by the way,
[00:14:58] did you know Lewis is going to Ferrari?
[00:15:00] And this is why we're not going to see Carlos Sainz Jr.
[00:15:04] at Red Bull.
[00:15:04] Because they want to keep Carlos Sainz Sr.
[00:15:06] and his political ways aside.
[00:15:08] The other introduction,
[00:15:10] question to you guys.
[00:15:11] Did you guys know that Eddie Jordan was actually the manager of Adrian Newey?
[00:15:17] I was close.
[00:15:19] Not at the time.
[00:15:19] So that's the introduction to Eddie Jordan,
[00:15:21] the talent manager.
[00:15:22] Okay.
[00:15:23] And then finally,
[00:15:23] the introduction to Formula One in Romania.
[00:15:27] Okay.
[00:15:27] The Prime Minister,
[00:15:29] during live election tracking,
[00:15:31] on live television,
[00:15:32] was actually watching Formula One.
[00:15:35] No.
[00:15:36] Okay.
[00:15:37] So I'm going to pick the winner here.
[00:15:38] The introduction to,
[00:15:40] sorry,
[00:15:40] the winner of the introduction of the year
[00:15:42] is actually
[00:15:44] Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
[00:15:46] Okay.
[00:15:47] Because we saw that his debut
[00:15:50] was,
[00:15:51] was a mess.
[00:15:52] It was a beautiful debut.
[00:15:53] That's how you announce yourself.
[00:15:55] Yeah.
[00:15:55] Well,
[00:15:55] that's how you announce yourself.
[00:15:56] It was such a mess that,
[00:15:58] you know,
[00:15:58] Mercedes,
[00:15:59] especially Toto Wolff was like,
[00:16:00] oh my God,
[00:16:00] he's been dead.
[00:16:01] What do I do?
[00:16:02] Let me reveal data
[00:16:03] to say how,
[00:16:05] he was actually quicker than Max.
[00:16:07] He was actually quicker than Hamilton.
[00:16:08] that's a good point.
[00:16:09] That's the introduction.
[00:16:10] All that,
[00:16:11] you know,
[00:16:12] when PR takes over talent,
[00:16:13] especially in this case,
[00:16:14] and I'm not writing off Antonelli,
[00:16:16] don't mind you,
[00:16:17] I'm saying Mercedes could have handled him better.
[00:16:18] So anyway,
[00:16:19] he's the winner.
[00:16:21] On the data point,
[00:16:23] just before you move on,
[00:16:24] it's actually interesting.
[00:16:25] Christian Horner did the same thing
[00:16:26] in Mexico.
[00:16:28] Both Toto and Christian
[00:16:29] brought out their data
[00:16:30] to support their arguments
[00:16:31] to the media.
[00:16:31] Like they showed literal telemetry,
[00:16:33] which I believe is crazy.
[00:16:35] Right?
[00:16:35] Team principles actually using that
[00:16:37] side note,
[00:16:38] but yes,
[00:16:39] the second.
[00:16:39] Actually,
[00:16:39] no,
[00:16:40] if we are,
[00:16:41] no,
[00:16:41] there is a winner.
[00:16:42] If we are having a winner,
[00:16:43] we should also present them
[00:16:44] with an award,
[00:16:45] right?
[00:16:45] Yeah.
[00:16:46] We haven't gotten anything,
[00:16:47] so we've just used this umbrella.
[00:16:49] So this is for you,
[00:16:50] Kimi Antonelli,
[00:16:50] but you might have to share it with,
[00:16:52] share it with,
[00:16:53] actually,
[00:16:54] Yuki Tsunoda.
[00:16:55] There's a reason,
[00:16:56] you know,
[00:16:56] he's not been introduced properly.
[00:16:58] That's why he got stopped
[00:17:00] at the US border
[00:17:01] before entering
[00:17:03] the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
[00:17:05] Can you imagine?
[00:17:07] Yuki Tsunoda did not look
[00:17:09] like a Formula One driver.
[00:17:10] I have no clue
[00:17:11] what a Formula One driver looks like.
[00:17:12] They always have their helmet on.
[00:17:14] But maybe we should move on
[00:17:16] to the farewell of the year
[00:17:17] because almost very few drivers
[00:17:19] have received a farewell.
[00:17:21] That's the next category,
[00:17:23] Samuel.
[00:17:23] Yeah,
[00:17:24] farewell of the year.
[00:17:25] You know,
[00:17:26] normally we go through
[00:17:27] the nominations
[00:17:27] and give you the winner.
[00:17:29] This time,
[00:17:29] I'm just going to give you
[00:17:30] the winner straight up
[00:17:31] because it's happened so early.
[00:17:33] Dude,
[00:17:33] you can't top
[00:17:34] Esteban Ocon's farewell.
[00:17:35] You cannot top that.
[00:17:37] That is the stuff of legends.
[00:17:39] You can.
[00:17:39] You can't.
[00:17:40] But okay,
[00:17:41] you should probably continue with that.
[00:17:42] I'll tell you what's better farewell.
[00:17:44] Okay.
[00:17:44] No, wait,
[00:17:45] tell me more.
[00:17:46] We can actually have a fun,
[00:17:47] you know,
[00:17:49] top trumps kind of thing.
[00:17:50] What's worse?
[00:17:51] Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
[00:17:52] It's raining heavily.
[00:17:53] Rain gets worse.
[00:17:55] And we see Lando Norris
[00:17:57] and George Russell
[00:17:58] changing tyres
[00:17:58] onto a fresh set
[00:18:00] and Max Verstappen
[00:18:01] not changing tyres.
[00:18:03] A red flag comes on
[00:18:04] and Lando Norris
[00:18:05] sees this championship fight
[00:18:06] going away.
[00:18:07] A nice farewell
[00:18:08] to what was
[00:18:09] a non-existing championship
[00:18:11] fight between them
[00:18:12] but he nicely bid it farewell.
[00:18:14] Basically,
[00:18:14] nature settled it.
[00:18:16] Nature told him
[00:18:16] you were never going to have it.
[00:18:17] Let me just take it away from you.
[00:18:19] It was never meant to be.
[00:18:19] It was never meant to be.
[00:18:20] All that overhype,
[00:18:21] in my opinion.
[00:18:22] He just saw it fading away
[00:18:23] into the darkness.
[00:18:23] But next year
[00:18:25] is his year.
[00:18:26] In his own words.
[00:18:27] That's what all the Arsenal fans
[00:18:29] keep on saying.
[00:18:30] Like,
[00:18:30] next season is our season.
[00:18:31] Next season is our season.
[00:18:32] But it's never come next season.
[00:18:33] So we'll have to wait and see.
[00:18:35] But no,
[00:18:35] on a serious note,
[00:18:36] right,
[00:18:37] I know we want to touch up
[00:18:38] on the funny things.
[00:18:39] But now that we're on Lando,
[00:18:40] we might as well.
[00:18:42] Do you guys believe in him
[00:18:43] for 2025?
[00:18:44] Is he...
[00:18:45] Of course.
[00:18:46] Is he the one?
[00:18:48] He's going to be up there
[00:18:49] with Max because...
[00:18:50] Okay,
[00:18:51] look at Lando
[00:18:51] in the first half of the season
[00:18:52] and in the second half
[00:18:53] of the season.
[00:18:53] I think there's been
[00:18:54] a considerable difference there.
[00:18:56] And when everything
[00:18:57] was at stake,
[00:18:58] he did not drop it.
[00:18:59] Remember Abu Dhabi
[00:19:00] last year when he was
[00:19:01] almost on pole position
[00:19:02] and he dropped it
[00:19:03] and that's happened
[00:19:03] a couple of times.
[00:19:04] Starting,
[00:19:05] he had the pace
[00:19:06] to be on pole.
[00:19:07] He did not take pole.
[00:19:08] He had the pace
[00:19:08] to lead a race
[00:19:09] or win many races.
[00:19:10] He did not do that.
[00:19:11] But look at the latter half
[00:19:12] of the season,
[00:19:13] especially in Abu Dhabi
[00:19:14] when they had
[00:19:14] the championship,
[00:19:16] the Constructors' Championship
[00:19:17] on the line.
[00:19:17] He did not make
[00:19:18] a single mistake
[00:19:20] in qualifying
[00:19:21] and in the race.
[00:19:21] So I think
[00:19:22] there has been
[00:19:23] an improvement in him
[00:19:24] and next year
[00:19:25] I think he will
[00:19:26] be able to make
[00:19:26] or mount a closer challenge
[00:19:27] to Max next year.
[00:19:28] I feel there's
[00:19:30] something in the...
[00:19:31] You know,
[00:19:32] it's interesting
[00:19:32] because
[00:19:34] at the FI Awards,
[00:19:36] Lando Norris said
[00:19:37] that it's an achievement
[00:19:37] to finish second
[00:19:38] to Max Verstappen
[00:19:40] which is a very weird thing
[00:19:42] for a driver
[00:19:44] who wants to be
[00:19:45] a world champion
[00:19:45] to say, right?
[00:19:46] You don't say
[00:19:47] that your rival's
[00:19:47] better than you.
[00:19:48] It's rule number one.
[00:19:49] But when you come
[00:19:50] to think about it,
[00:19:51] he's actually competing
[00:19:52] with the best driver
[00:19:53] of this generation
[00:19:54] and probably the best
[00:19:54] of all time
[00:19:55] for all you know.
[00:19:56] So being there
[00:19:57] is quite something
[00:19:58] and you also have
[00:19:59] to learn to win, right?
[00:20:00] Not everyone's Max Verstappen
[00:20:02] because think about
[00:20:03] McLaren themselves.
[00:20:04] Last year,
[00:20:05] they finally got in a situation
[00:20:06] where they were
[00:20:07] close to victory.
[00:20:08] They learned how to manage wins
[00:20:10] and how to close it all off
[00:20:12] and Lando's also
[00:20:13] part of that journey.
[00:20:14] So I think we might
[00:20:15] just be seeing
[00:20:16] Lando version 0.75,
[00:20:18] not even Lando version 1.
[00:20:19] By the time that happens,
[00:20:20] maybe next year,
[00:20:21] he's even better.
[00:20:22] And with the car
[00:20:23] being so good,
[00:20:25] with Red Bull also
[00:20:25] in an unpredictable circumstance,
[00:20:27] I don't...
[00:20:27] I don't want to put my money
[00:20:29] away from Lando Norris.
[00:20:30] I think he's
[00:20:31] going to be better.
[00:20:32] But then again,
[00:20:33] what sort of a driver says
[00:20:34] that it's an achievement
[00:20:35] to finish second
[00:20:36] to the eventual champion?
[00:20:37] A driver who's a good guy,
[00:20:39] a good boy,
[00:20:40] on track,
[00:20:40] off it,
[00:20:41] in the cockpit.
[00:20:42] Is he too good though?
[00:20:42] That's...
[00:20:43] I think he's too good.
[00:20:44] By the way, guys,
[00:20:44] sorry,
[00:20:45] this is the parody awards.
[00:20:47] We shouldn't go down
[00:20:48] into dissecting Norris.
[00:20:49] But okay,
[00:20:50] my point is
[00:20:51] he can win
[00:20:52] if McLaren has
[00:20:54] a decisive
[00:20:55] performance advantage.
[00:20:56] If he's going
[00:20:56] wheel to wheel,
[00:20:57] I don't think so.
[00:20:58] Especially if there's
[00:21:00] Max Verstappen
[00:21:01] or Leclerc
[00:21:02] or Hamilton
[00:21:03] in that wheel to wheel battle.
[00:21:04] Chances of that
[00:21:05] are very, very high.
[00:21:06] At least one of those three,
[00:21:07] if not all three of them.
[00:21:08] I don't think Norris
[00:21:09] is able to mount
[00:21:10] a championship challenge.
[00:21:11] That's my...
[00:21:12] Very Seb-like, right?
[00:21:13] You give him
[00:21:13] a controlled environment
[00:21:15] and he'll be the best,
[00:21:16] but...
[00:21:17] No, I think...
[00:21:19] You're devaluing Seb
[00:21:21] by putting
[00:21:22] that in Norris.
[00:21:22] Sure.
[00:21:23] I mean,
[00:21:24] you're right.
[00:21:24] On to farewell of the year.
[00:21:26] Okay.
[00:21:27] My farewell,
[00:21:29] I'm going to read
[00:21:29] some of the nominations,
[00:21:31] is Lewis at Mercedes.
[00:21:33] Okay,
[00:21:33] the minute he was leaving,
[00:21:34] Mercedes put out
[00:21:35] a job ad
[00:21:36] for a fashion manager.
[00:21:38] I've worked
[00:21:38] with a lot of...
[00:21:39] Seriously?
[00:21:40] Yeah,
[00:21:40] there's a fashion manager job
[00:21:41] that was open
[00:21:42] at Mercedes.
[00:21:44] Shouldn't that be given
[00:21:45] to Bono
[00:21:45] after he was caught
[00:21:46] wearing Lewis's Tommy
[00:21:47] heel figure
[00:21:47] when he was leaving
[00:21:48] the paddock?
[00:21:49] Of course,
[00:21:50] the best farewell
[00:21:51] that I think we saw
[00:21:52] for a driver
[00:21:52] was when,
[00:21:53] you know,
[00:21:54] Samuel Arora
[00:21:54] was down in tears
[00:21:56] seeing Carlos Sainz
[00:21:57] being down in tears
[00:21:58] seeing his farewell
[00:21:59] video at Ferrari.
[00:22:00] I know you didn't
[00:22:01] shoot that
[00:22:02] as well as
[00:22:02] Ferrari did.
[00:22:04] There was Kevin
[00:22:04] Mucknison from Haas
[00:22:05] and Formula One.
[00:22:06] I think his farewell
[00:22:07] post was like,
[00:22:09] you know,
[00:22:09] three races to go,
[00:22:10] zero penalty points,
[00:22:12] let's go put Hulk
[00:22:13] on the podium.
[00:22:14] I love that.
[00:22:15] It's amazing.
[00:22:15] He was giving
[00:22:16] a better farewell
[00:22:16] to himself
[00:22:17] than any team
[00:22:18] has probably given
[00:22:19] to a driver.
[00:22:20] Then, of course,
[00:22:22] Leclerc's special helmet
[00:22:23] for Carlos Sainz
[00:22:24] in Abu Dhabi.
[00:22:25] These are all those
[00:22:26] feel-good nominations.
[00:22:27] You know,
[00:22:27] oh, so cute.
[00:22:28] Let's just nominate them.
[00:22:29] But I think the biggest farewell,
[00:22:31] and this is not the winner
[00:22:32] because I know you guys
[00:22:33] have picked a different winner,
[00:22:34] is
[00:22:36] Checo Perez
[00:22:36] from Red Bull Racing
[00:22:38] and maybe even
[00:22:39] Formula One.
[00:22:40] Right?
[00:22:41] Are we there yet?
[00:22:42] I think so
[00:22:43] because he
[00:22:44] he's kept on saying,
[00:22:46] this is not my last
[00:22:46] Mexican Grand Prix.
[00:22:47] I have a contract.
[00:22:49] I have a contract.
[00:22:51] I need to find a settlement
[00:22:52] that works for all parties.
[00:22:53] So maybe
[00:22:54] this farewell
[00:22:55] already happened there.
[00:22:56] And, you know,
[00:22:57] Daniel Ricciardo's
[00:22:58] farewell didn't happen.
[00:22:59] Logan Sargent's
[00:23:00] farewell didn't happen.
[00:23:01] Ocon, you pointed out on.
[00:23:02] Who else did we not
[00:23:04] have a farewell for?
[00:23:04] Niels Wittich.
[00:23:05] Niels Wittich.
[00:23:06] Teddy Mayer.
[00:23:07] So we started the year
[00:23:08] without any farewells at all.
[00:23:10] We had the same grid
[00:23:11] from last year
[00:23:11] coming to this year.
[00:23:12] But right from
[00:23:14] halfway through the season
[00:23:15] we've actually seen
[00:23:15] drivers and other personnel
[00:23:17] leave the sport.
[00:23:18] 50% of the grid.
[00:23:19] That's what we counted.
[00:23:20] Yeah.
[00:23:21] Right?
[00:23:21] 50% of the grid
[00:23:22] is having farewells
[00:23:22] from their team
[00:23:23] or from Formula One.
[00:23:24] Some did get their farewells
[00:23:25] like we already mentioned
[00:23:26] but many of those
[00:23:27] did not.
[00:23:27] And it's a little sad
[00:23:29] to see someone
[00:23:29] like a Danny,
[00:23:30] Daniel Ricciardo
[00:23:31] not getting a farewell
[00:23:32] that you'd have liked.
[00:23:33] He chose to not
[00:23:33] Yeah.
[00:23:34] We've already touched
[00:23:35] about that.
[00:23:36] Okay.
[00:23:36] So guys,
[00:23:36] who are the winners?
[00:23:37] Esteban Ocon.
[00:23:38] He's the winner?
[00:23:39] Of course.
[00:23:40] Okay.
[00:23:40] I mean,
[00:23:41] imagine going through
[00:23:43] the painstaking effort
[00:23:44] and it costs
[00:23:44] thousands of euros
[00:23:46] to print a new helmet
[00:23:47] like to design it
[00:23:49] to get it painted out
[00:23:50] to get it shipped
[00:23:51] delivered
[00:23:51] and you don't just
[00:23:52] get one helmet
[00:23:53] you always get two
[00:23:54] because you need
[00:23:55] backups with different
[00:23:55] visors as well.
[00:23:56] So I'm assuming
[00:23:57] at least 5,000
[00:23:58] 6,000 euros
[00:23:59] if not more
[00:24:00] that's assuming
[00:24:01] the helmet manufacturer
[00:24:02] gave him the helmet
[00:24:03] for free
[00:24:03] and he just had to
[00:24:04] paint it.
[00:24:05] That's a lot of money
[00:24:05] for anyone.
[00:24:06] Maybe the designer
[00:24:06] did it for free.
[00:24:07] Maybe the printer
[00:24:08] also did it for free.
[00:24:09] Whatever.
[00:24:10] You've made the hard work
[00:24:12] to create a special
[00:24:13] helmet for a team
[00:24:14] for which you are
[00:24:15] the most successful
[00:24:16] driver of all time
[00:24:17] like of Alpine's history.
[00:24:19] Can you imagine though?
[00:24:20] Esteban Ocon is the
[00:24:21] most successful
[00:24:21] Alpine driver in history.
[00:24:23] One win,
[00:24:23] four podiums.
[00:24:24] He's taken the team
[00:24:25] from their inception
[00:24:27] and their struggles
[00:24:27] to where they are today.
[00:24:29] Incredible.
[00:24:29] I mean,
[00:24:30] even though it ends
[00:24:30] with acrimony,
[00:24:32] you can't
[00:24:32] not acknowledge
[00:24:33] what he's done
[00:24:34] for the team
[00:24:34] and then they just
[00:24:36] kick him out
[00:24:37] unceremoniously.
[00:24:39] Is it an Ocon thing?
[00:24:40] He's literally been
[00:24:42] kicked out
[00:24:43] or he's had a bitter
[00:24:44] favour with anyone
[00:24:44] he's driven with.
[00:24:45] With everyone.
[00:24:46] So with Sergio Perez,
[00:24:48] with Force India
[00:24:48] because obviously
[00:24:49] Lance Stroll came in there.
[00:24:50] Then Alonso going away
[00:24:51] having a very bitter
[00:24:52] rivalry with Ocon as well.
[00:24:54] But that's his
[00:24:54] Fernando, right?
[00:24:55] That's like...
[00:24:56] I mean,
[00:24:56] I'm just saying
[00:24:58] Ocon has had
[00:24:59] that unfortunate
[00:25:01] situation where
[00:25:02] it never...
[00:25:03] The farewells
[00:25:03] or the goodbyes
[00:25:04] are never good.
[00:25:05] But this is a new
[00:25:06] low, man.
[00:25:07] Like,
[00:25:07] one race before
[00:25:08] the season ends.
[00:25:08] So who's the winner?
[00:25:09] You've picked
[00:25:10] Esteban Ocon.
[00:25:11] This is stuff of legends.
[00:25:12] Do you agree?
[00:25:13] I don't think so.
[00:25:14] Okay, so...
[00:25:15] It's brutal, man.
[00:25:16] Fair enough to be here.
[00:25:16] Who's the winner, Sundaram?
[00:25:18] Adrian Novi to Red...
[00:25:19] Adrian Novi
[00:25:19] from Red Bull
[00:25:20] to Aston Martin.
[00:25:21] That's also
[00:25:22] the introduction of the year.
[00:25:25] Not yet.
[00:25:26] No.
[00:25:27] So you know what?
[00:25:29] Fernando Alonso
[00:25:30] actually said,
[00:25:31] your favorite driver,
[00:25:32] I'm willing to pay
[00:25:33] Adrian's wages
[00:25:34] from my salary.
[00:25:36] But I have to ask...
[00:25:37] He's done that before
[00:25:38] though, to mechanics.
[00:25:39] Yeah.
[00:25:39] In white envelopes.
[00:25:40] Yeah, so...
[00:25:41] We have to ask,
[00:25:43] how does
[00:25:44] Lauren Stroll
[00:25:45] and Aston Martin,
[00:25:47] how do they work
[00:25:48] within the budget cap
[00:25:49] with everything
[00:25:50] that they've been
[00:25:50] putting together?
[00:25:51] The best facilities,
[00:25:53] the best
[00:25:54] talent
[00:25:54] into two.
[00:25:55] You know,
[00:25:56] they've got a backup
[00:25:56] for every best talent.
[00:25:58] Is it a case
[00:25:59] of apportioning things?
[00:26:00] Because in football,
[00:26:01] the way
[00:26:02] the Chelsea Football Club
[00:26:03] managed it is
[00:26:04] they spent a billion pounds
[00:26:06] in one transfer window,
[00:26:07] which is not possible
[00:26:08] through the financial regulations,
[00:26:10] but you amortize it
[00:26:11] over an eight-year
[00:26:11] or ten-year period.
[00:26:12] So,
[00:26:12] maybe they're giving
[00:26:13] longer contracts
[00:26:14] to everyone?
[00:26:15] Or maybe 2025,
[00:26:17] Aston Martin
[00:26:18] had a breach.
[00:26:18] We don't know.
[00:26:19] Could be.
[00:26:20] Could be.
[00:26:21] I just remembered
[00:26:22] another farewell of the year.
[00:26:23] Max was laughing
[00:26:24] saying goodbye
[00:26:24] to an Adrian Newey-designed car.
[00:26:26] Oh, yes.
[00:26:27] He's not going to be
[00:26:27] driving another one
[00:26:28] next year.
[00:26:28] Wow.
[00:26:29] And he's driven one
[00:26:30] for the vast majority
[00:26:32] of his single-seater career.
[00:26:33] Not just F1 career
[00:26:34] because he's barely
[00:26:36] had a single-seater career
[00:26:37] besides Formula 1.
[00:26:38] So,
[00:26:39] wow.
[00:26:40] Are we going to say farewell
[00:26:41] to Adrian Newey's chances
[00:26:42] of winning a championship
[00:26:43] as well?
[00:26:44] Because he's going to have
[00:26:45] a potential world championship
[00:26:47] winning driver
[00:26:48] in Lance Stroll.
[00:26:48] Absolutely.
[00:26:50] It's phenomenal.
[00:26:52] Adrian Newey's going to win again.
[00:26:53] Fernando Alonso
[00:26:53] is definitely going to win again.
[00:26:55] Mission 33.
[00:26:55] This is bias coming in right now.
[00:26:57] Mission 33.
[00:26:58] No one's saying farewell
[00:26:59] to Logan Sargent.
[00:26:59] Mission 3,
[00:27:00] not Mission 33.
[00:27:01] I'm thinking even beyond that.
[00:27:02] But first you get Mission 33,
[00:27:04] then you'll get Mission 3.
[00:27:05] Hey, but you guys
[00:27:05] are terrible people here.
[00:27:06] Logan Sargent,
[00:27:07] no word of him,
[00:27:08] no mention.
[00:27:10] Heartless.
[00:27:11] Absolutely heartless.
[00:27:12] Anyway.
[00:27:13] We didn't mention Logan Sargent.
[00:27:16] Okay, this is our farewell
[00:27:17] to Logan Sargent.
[00:27:18] So I think the award.
[00:27:19] Okay, finally,
[00:27:20] let's pick a consensus.
[00:27:21] Do we need to pick
[00:27:21] a farewell of the year?
[00:27:22] No.
[00:27:23] There's lots of time.
[00:27:25] We can agree to disagree.
[00:27:26] Let's hope.
[00:27:27] Let's hope.
[00:27:28] Okay, I'm just going to act
[00:27:29] like the wise age
[00:27:30] since I have more gray hair
[00:27:31] than you, you know.
[00:27:33] Let's hope we've not
[00:27:34] bid farewell
[00:27:35] to the best of Formula 1.
[00:27:37] That's what 2024
[00:27:38] was all about, right?
[00:27:39] Let's hope,
[00:27:40] and we said this
[00:27:41] the last week as well,
[00:27:42] 2025 is 2024 version B
[00:27:45] and not a reset
[00:27:47] pecking order or whatever
[00:27:48] because 2026
[00:27:49] will have a reset
[00:27:50] but I would love
[00:27:52] to have one more season
[00:27:53] where we're like,
[00:27:54] oh my goodness,
[00:27:54] this is still 2024
[00:27:56] and you know,
[00:27:58] so let's hope
[00:27:58] we've not bid farewell
[00:27:59] to the best season ever.
[00:28:02] we're really spoiled
[00:28:03] when it comes to
[00:28:04] these sort of championships
[00:28:05] because in 2021
[00:28:06] we saw arguably
[00:28:08] the best championship fight
[00:28:09] between two drivers
[00:28:10] and this year
[00:28:11] we saw that happening
[00:28:12] in the constructors title
[00:28:13] and we're really spoiled
[00:28:14] for that.
[00:28:14] We really wish this continues.
[00:28:16] We enjoy it more
[00:28:17] when it's drivers
[00:28:18] rather than constructors.
[00:28:20] I actually enjoyed
[00:28:20] this season
[00:28:21] more than 2021
[00:28:22] for some reason
[00:28:23] because that's what I'm saying.
[00:28:26] We're talking about
[00:28:27] so many different teams
[00:28:28] that have had
[00:28:28] the highs
[00:28:29] and the lows
[00:28:30] so many different
[00:28:32] backgrounds,
[00:28:33] nationalities
[00:28:33] and so many different people
[00:28:35] that are involved in that
[00:28:36] so I actually enjoyed
[00:28:37] this season
[00:28:37] more than 2021.
[00:28:39] Best ever?
[00:28:39] I'd say best ever.
[00:28:41] Best ever
[00:28:42] that I've
[00:28:42] the best ever
[00:28:43] constructors title
[00:28:43] that I've ever watched.
[00:28:45] Oh.
[00:28:45] Which actually
[00:28:46] the next category
[00:28:47] is like the longest
[00:28:49] list of nominations.
[00:28:50] It's the battle
[00:28:52] of the year
[00:28:52] which is a great segue
[00:28:54] because everything
[00:28:55] in 2024
[00:28:57] was a battle.
[00:28:59] What do you say, Sam?
[00:29:00] A battle for some people
[00:29:01] to keep a seat
[00:29:02] at the team
[00:29:03] where they've been
[00:29:03] the most successful driver
[00:29:04] as well
[00:29:05] with a special helmet.
[00:29:06] We cannot forget that.
[00:29:08] He's not getting past
[00:29:09] the compo.
[00:29:10] It is huge.
[00:29:12] Imagine if this happened.
[00:29:14] Were you this emotional
[00:29:15] when Carlos Sainz
[00:29:17] was kicked out of the heart?
[00:29:17] Not even emotional.
[00:29:18] I just find it astounding
[00:29:20] that this
[00:29:22] it's unbelievable.
[00:29:24] Somal is battling
[00:29:25] his emotions
[00:29:25] in the battle
[00:29:26] of the year
[00:29:26] nominations
[00:29:27] right now.
[00:29:28] Like Max Verstappen
[00:29:29] also was doing
[00:29:30] in his battle
[00:29:31] with George Russell
[00:29:32] which I believe
[00:29:32] has to be
[00:29:33] one of the prime candidates
[00:29:35] but the winner
[00:29:35] is never who you think
[00:29:36] it is.
[00:29:36] So that's why
[00:29:37] this one
[00:29:38] is not your winner
[00:29:39] but the quotes
[00:29:40] that have come out of it
[00:29:41] are fantastic.
[00:29:42] I'm going to put you
[00:29:43] on your effing head
[00:29:44] on the wall.
[00:29:46] He is a hypocritical driver.
[00:29:49] I'm not going to waste
[00:29:50] more time.
[00:29:51] Yeah.
[00:29:52] Someone has to stand up to him.
[00:29:53] It came very late
[00:29:54] onto the season
[00:29:55] I feel
[00:29:55] because everyone goes away
[00:29:57] everyone goes on
[00:29:57] a nice little break
[00:29:58] and it kind of fizzles out.
[00:29:59] I would have liked that
[00:30:00] somewhere right in the middle
[00:30:01] of the season
[00:30:02] right before the mid-season break
[00:30:03] and then everyone turns up
[00:30:05] in Netherlands.
[00:30:06] I would have liked it
[00:30:07] to happen a little earlier
[00:30:08] in the season
[00:30:08] but I think it's already
[00:30:09] kind of fizzled out a little.
[00:30:11] Little?
[00:30:11] It's fully gone.
[00:30:12] It's gone.
[00:30:13] It's like
[00:30:13] you know
[00:30:14] I don't know
[00:30:15] there was something
[00:30:16] more brewing there.
[00:30:18] There was
[00:30:19] George Russell
[00:30:20] trying to piss off Max
[00:30:22] maybe there are some
[00:30:23] conversations for 2026.
[00:30:25] Maybe he's trying
[00:30:25] to stay in the limelight.
[00:30:26] Maybe he's trying
[00:30:27] to do something
[00:30:27] that Lando Norris
[00:30:28] should have done
[00:30:28] but did not do.
[00:30:30] Which is not a bad thought
[00:30:31] actually.
[00:30:32] But you know
[00:30:32] I don't think
[00:30:33] you can get to
[00:30:34] Max Verstappen's head.
[00:30:35] Yeah.
[00:30:35] His head is never there
[00:30:37] if you know what I mean.
[00:30:38] But you have to
[00:30:39] stand up to him.
[00:30:41] And I say
[00:30:42] because
[00:30:42] But is this the only way
[00:30:44] to stand up?
[00:30:45] It is one way.
[00:30:46] It's worked with
[00:30:46] Nico Rosberg.
[00:30:47] But it did not
[00:30:48] bother Max at all.
[00:30:50] I mean you should know
[00:30:50] your rival by now.
[00:30:52] We think it didn't
[00:30:53] but look at how
[00:30:54] he's driven in the
[00:30:54] last couple of races.
[00:30:55] I don't think
[00:30:56] that's got to do
[00:30:57] You mean Max?
[00:30:58] Yeah.
[00:30:58] But a couple of races
[00:31:00] was even Brazil included
[00:31:01] right?
[00:31:02] Yeah sure.
[00:31:02] Sure.
[00:31:02] But Abu Dhabi
[00:31:03] you could sense
[00:31:05] desperation.
[00:31:07] And you don't
[00:31:08] often get that.
[00:31:08] So we've not
[00:31:09] tested Max
[00:31:11] when he is
[00:31:12] the great
[00:31:13] but in a bad car.
[00:31:14] We've had
[00:31:15] a glimpse of it.
[00:31:16] It's going to happen
[00:31:17] in 25.
[00:31:18] It's going to happen
[00:31:18] in 25.
[00:31:19] And then we'll find out
[00:31:20] because remember
[00:31:21] we've only seen Max
[00:31:22] in his teenage years
[00:31:23] when he was fighting
[00:31:24] with the competition
[00:31:25] and he was messy
[00:31:26] as hell.
[00:31:26] No denying it.
[00:31:28] Now
[00:31:29] although
[00:31:29] now that he's
[00:31:30] the great
[00:31:30] and he is right
[00:31:31] he is one of the
[00:31:32] best of all time
[00:31:33] can he still be
[00:31:35] as clean as a Lewis
[00:31:36] or a Leclerc
[00:31:37] in his battling?
[00:31:38] I'm not saying
[00:31:38] he has to be
[00:31:39] but this is another
[00:31:40] layer to his driving
[00:31:42] which we're now
[00:31:42] going to find out.
[00:31:43] And if someone's
[00:31:44] getting to his head
[00:31:44] I say so be it.
[00:31:45] You can't
[00:31:46] can't have anyone
[00:31:47] stand up
[00:31:47] Listen Max
[00:31:48] is already on
[00:31:49] 8 out of 12
[00:31:50] penalty points.
[00:31:51] He's already said
[00:31:53] it's okay if I get
[00:31:54] a race ban next year
[00:31:55] I'll use that
[00:31:56] as a paternity leave
[00:31:58] thing from Formula 1.
[00:31:59] You see that's
[00:32:00] that's when
[00:32:01] things start to go
[00:32:02] downhill
[00:32:02] because you know
[00:32:03] he's so extreme
[00:32:04] in his thought process
[00:32:05] but hear me out
[00:32:07] on this one
[00:32:08] on Max Verstappen
[00:32:09] I was just thinking
[00:32:10] right
[00:32:10] we all agree
[00:32:11] he's one of the
[00:32:12] best drivers
[00:32:13] in this generation
[00:32:14] slash of all time
[00:32:15] you agree as well
[00:32:16] incredible
[00:32:18] do the new drivers
[00:32:19] coming into Formula 1
[00:32:20] feel the same thing?
[00:32:21] Does it matter?
[00:32:22] I think it does.
[00:32:23] It's like this
[00:32:23] if you're a Formula 1
[00:32:24] driver coming in
[00:32:25] you think you're the best
[00:32:27] you think you're a mix
[00:32:28] of Senna, Schumacher
[00:32:29] but racing room
[00:32:30] and respect
[00:32:31] because nobody
[00:32:31] nobody dares go
[00:32:33] on the outside
[00:32:33] of Max Verstappen
[00:32:34] and that's a fact
[00:32:34] but that's because
[00:32:36] the rules are that way
[00:32:37] if the minute
[00:32:37] the rules change
[00:32:38] and they're altered
[00:32:39] or you put a gravel
[00:32:40] trap there
[00:32:41] or you don't
[00:32:42] I think Max
[00:32:43] will change
[00:32:44] so that's why
[00:32:45] they are working on
[00:32:46] if anything Max knows
[00:32:47] you know it's like
[00:32:48] if Adrian Newey
[00:32:49] is pushing
[00:32:49] or used to push
[00:32:50] the boundaries
[00:32:51] of the technical
[00:32:52] regulations
[00:32:54] finding a loophole
[00:32:55] in that tech reg
[00:32:57] I'll find a loophole
[00:32:58] in the sporting regs
[00:33:01] and the racing regs
[00:33:02] and that's what
[00:33:03] he's done
[00:33:03] Max has actually
[00:33:04] found
[00:33:04] or he's actually
[00:33:05] read the sporting
[00:33:06] regulations
[00:33:06] to the last word
[00:33:08] to the last letter
[00:33:09] so he knows
[00:33:09] where he can use it
[00:33:11] to his advantage
[00:33:11] he did that in Austria
[00:33:13] he did that in Mexico
[00:33:14] he was able to
[00:33:15] make a case for himself
[00:33:16] it wasn't
[00:33:16] very blatant
[00:33:17] but that's also
[00:33:19] very important
[00:33:19] we've seen Seb
[00:33:20] doing that
[00:33:20] a couple of years ago
[00:33:22] so that's why
[00:33:22] it's very important
[00:33:23] to know the regulations
[00:33:24] which
[00:33:24] Nico Hulkenberg
[00:33:25] did not know
[00:33:26] in Abu Dhabi
[00:33:27] that you can't be
[00:33:27] passing
[00:33:28] in the pit exit
[00:33:29] and he went on
[00:33:30] to do it
[00:33:30] so drivers
[00:33:31] apart from just
[00:33:32] putting in your laps
[00:33:33] on track
[00:33:34] you also need to know
[00:33:35] what goes into
[00:33:36] the rule book
[00:33:36] hey you know what
[00:33:37] we should ask that
[00:33:37] to Helmut Marko
[00:33:38] I know you're
[00:33:38] speaking to him
[00:33:40] today
[00:33:41] yeah
[00:33:41] you are speaking
[00:33:42] to him today
[00:33:43] it's crazy
[00:33:43] we should ask him
[00:33:44] is that one thing
[00:33:45] that you ask
[00:33:45] all of your drivers
[00:33:46] to be very good at
[00:33:48] reading the regulations
[00:33:48] because
[00:33:49] now that I think
[00:33:50] about it
[00:33:50] two great Red Bull
[00:33:51] juniors have that
[00:33:52] same trait
[00:33:53] of knowing the
[00:33:54] regulations inside out
[00:33:55] but Checo didn't
[00:33:56] and he got passed
[00:33:57] on the pit exit
[00:33:58] by Franco Colopinto
[00:33:59] candidate for
[00:34:00] moment of the year
[00:34:01] but another battle
[00:34:02] of the year
[00:34:03] in my opinion
[00:34:04] is just a follow up
[00:34:06] of Max vs. George
[00:34:08] George
[00:34:08] and it's the two
[00:34:09] dogs barking at each
[00:34:11] other
[00:34:11] the terrier versus
[00:34:12] the wolf
[00:34:12] both of them
[00:34:13] howling at each
[00:34:14] other
[00:34:14] both of them
[00:34:15] making
[00:34:17] petty remarks
[00:34:17] stupid comments
[00:34:20] it's like
[00:34:21] it's like those
[00:34:22] two neighbours
[00:34:22] who are always
[00:34:23] fighting with each
[00:34:23] other
[00:34:23] and you're just
[00:34:24] like
[00:34:24] they just do
[00:34:25] their own thing
[00:34:25] we know what
[00:34:26] they're like
[00:34:26] and the battle
[00:34:27] has evolved to a
[00:34:28] whole new level
[00:34:29] now
[00:34:29] like a yapping
[00:34:29] little terrier
[00:34:31] or I'd rather
[00:34:32] be a terrier
[00:34:33] than a wolf
[00:34:33] because I'd rather
[00:34:34] be with friends
[00:34:35] or whatever
[00:34:35] I don't know
[00:34:36] it's weird
[00:34:37] weird what's
[00:34:38] been happening
[00:34:38] but I like it
[00:34:39] I can imagine
[00:34:41] Fred Visser
[00:34:42] sitting and
[00:34:42] watching all of
[00:34:43] this and having
[00:34:44] a good laugh
[00:34:44] on his own
[00:34:45] let them fight
[00:34:46] it out amongst
[00:34:46] themselves
[00:34:47] but Toto and
[00:34:48] Christian have
[00:34:48] been on this
[00:34:49] for a couple
[00:34:49] of years
[00:34:50] right now
[00:34:50] for a very
[00:34:51] long time
[00:34:51] they're never
[00:34:51] gonna stop
[00:34:52] they're never
[00:34:52] gonna stop
[00:34:53] they know that
[00:34:54] they get
[00:34:55] box office
[00:34:56] TRP ratings
[00:34:57] when that happens
[00:34:58] the other box
[00:34:59] office TRP ratings
[00:35:00] Gunther Steiner
[00:35:01] he's not
[00:35:02] gonna be a
[00:35:02] part of
[00:35:03] Drive to
[00:35:03] Survive
[00:35:04] 2024
[00:35:05] let's see
[00:35:06] how Drive
[00:35:06] to Survive
[00:35:06] does
[00:35:07] but
[00:35:07] he has
[00:35:07] been in
[00:35:08] the paddock
[00:35:08] he has
[00:35:09] been in
[00:35:09] the paddock
[00:35:09] a lot
[00:35:10] and maybe
[00:35:10] Drive to
[00:35:11] Survive
[00:35:11] has just
[00:35:11] hired him
[00:35:12] to
[00:35:14] spice it up
[00:35:15] a little
[00:35:16] but Gunther's
[00:35:16] been having a
[00:35:17] battle this
[00:35:17] year
[00:35:17] in the courtroom
[00:35:21] over trademark
[00:35:22] infringement
[00:35:22] of I think
[00:35:23] usage of
[00:35:24] Haas's logos
[00:35:24] and I think
[00:35:25] it went
[00:35:25] in Gunther's
[00:35:27] favour
[00:35:27] so that's
[00:35:28] out
[00:35:28] did that
[00:35:29] I read
[00:35:30] about that
[00:35:30] okay
[00:35:31] Haas have
[00:35:32] been doing
[00:35:33] a lot of
[00:35:33] settling this
[00:35:34] year
[00:35:34] Haas vs
[00:35:35] the legal
[00:35:35] loopholes
[00:35:37] are also
[00:35:37] a big battle
[00:35:38] because they
[00:35:38] literally got
[00:35:39] stopped
[00:35:40] their freight
[00:35:41] was actually
[00:35:41] stopped in
[00:35:42] the Netherlands
[00:35:42] because they
[00:35:44] were apparently
[00:35:44] meant to pay
[00:35:45] their old
[00:35:46] sponsor Ural Kali
[00:35:47] from 2021
[00:35:47] some money
[00:35:48] again the
[00:35:49] Russia-Ukraine
[00:35:50] dispute happened
[00:35:51] and so they
[00:35:51] had to
[00:35:51] terminate that
[00:35:52] contract
[00:35:52] but they
[00:35:53] almost
[00:35:54] were stopped
[00:35:55] from going
[00:35:55] racing in the
[00:35:56] next race
[00:35:56] strategy of the
[00:35:57] you mentioned
[00:35:58] Gunther
[00:35:58] yeah
[00:35:59] you know
[00:35:59] in the past
[00:36:01] sponsors or
[00:36:02] even typically
[00:36:03] in Formula 1
[00:36:03] sponsors pay
[00:36:04] teams so that
[00:36:06] teams can go
[00:36:06] racing
[00:36:07] in the case
[00:36:08] of Haas
[00:36:08] the reverse
[00:36:09] happened
[00:36:09] the team
[00:36:09] actually paid
[00:36:10] a sponsor
[00:36:11] back so that
[00:36:13] we could land
[00:36:13] up and be
[00:36:14] allowed to take
[00:36:14] our cars to
[00:36:15] the next race
[00:36:16] it was a
[00:36:16] double header
[00:36:16] luckily it
[00:36:17] was in
[00:36:17] Europe itself
[00:36:18] otherwise I
[00:36:19] can't imagine
[00:36:20] the implications
[00:36:21] of such an
[00:36:22] impounding as
[00:36:22] well right
[00:36:23] and I think
[00:36:23] the old
[00:36:24] Nikita Mazepin
[00:36:25] his car from
[00:36:27] 2021 as
[00:36:28] well
[00:36:28] give it
[00:36:29] away
[00:36:29] nobody
[00:36:29] wants that
[00:36:30] why do
[00:36:31] you want
[00:36:31] to keep
[00:36:31] that car
[00:36:31] dude
[00:36:32] whatever
[00:36:33] little is
[00:36:33] remaining
[00:36:33] of it
[00:36:34] yeah
[00:36:35] whatever
[00:36:35] little
[00:36:35] exactly
[00:36:39] other battles
[00:36:40] there are more
[00:36:41] other battles
[00:36:41] well well
[00:36:42] Mohammed Ben
[00:36:43] Sulayim versus
[00:36:44] the drivers
[00:36:45] that's never
[00:36:46] going to end
[00:36:47] I guess
[00:36:47] and I don't
[00:36:48] know why
[00:36:49] MPS wants
[00:36:49] to be the
[00:36:50] bad boy
[00:36:50] I just
[00:36:52] don't know
[00:36:52] or even
[00:36:52] just being
[00:36:53] the limelight
[00:36:53] because
[00:36:54] Abu Dhabi
[00:36:54] race ended
[00:36:55] he was
[00:36:55] on the
[00:36:56] podium and
[00:36:57] in the
[00:36:57] cool down
[00:36:57] room for
[00:36:58] no reason
[00:36:58] like why
[00:36:59] are you
[00:36:59] here
[00:36:59] yeah
[00:37:00] and just
[00:37:01] trying to
[00:37:01] create fake
[00:37:03] conversations
[00:37:03] fake laughter
[00:37:04] with Zac
[00:37:05] Brown
[00:37:05] with Lanto
[00:37:06] Norris
[00:37:06] we're really
[00:37:07] going after
[00:37:07] him
[00:37:08] haven't he
[00:37:08] oh wait
[00:37:08] wait a minute
[00:37:09] we are the
[00:37:10] least offenders
[00:37:11] here there are
[00:37:12] other people
[00:37:12] going at him
[00:37:13] with a formal
[00:37:14] letter
[00:37:14] so we're
[00:37:15] still fine
[00:37:16] and then of
[00:37:17] course you know
[00:37:18] the worst
[00:37:18] that I think
[00:37:19] MPS said
[00:37:19] was drivers
[00:37:20] need to pay
[00:37:20] us more
[00:37:21] for hiring
[00:37:22] full-time
[00:37:23] stewards
[00:37:23] for the
[00:37:24] FIA
[00:37:25] which I
[00:37:26] mean the
[00:37:26] amount of
[00:37:26] money that's
[00:37:28] I think
[00:37:28] till Brazil
[00:37:29] there was
[00:37:30] 300,000 euros
[00:37:31] collected in
[00:37:32] fines only
[00:37:32] from the
[00:37:33] drivers
[00:37:33] oh wow
[00:37:35] okay I'm
[00:37:36] pretty sure
[00:37:37] if you were
[00:37:38] to just
[00:37:38] I'm sure
[00:37:39] the numbers
[00:37:40] close to
[00:37:40] 350,000 euros
[00:37:41] and that's
[00:37:42] why the
[00:37:42] drivers are
[00:37:42] saying where
[00:37:43] is the
[00:37:43] money going
[00:37:43] show it
[00:37:44] to us
[00:37:44] and MBS
[00:37:46] is I
[00:37:47] think his
[00:37:47] legacy is
[00:37:48] going to be
[00:37:48] complete trash
[00:37:49] with
[00:37:50] bending
[00:37:51] rules
[00:37:52] ethics
[00:37:52] lots of
[00:37:53] people going
[00:37:54] etc
[00:37:54] that's what
[00:37:55] we will
[00:37:56] remember him
[00:37:56] for
[00:37:56] when on
[00:37:58] the opposite
[00:37:58] side on
[00:37:59] the contrary
[00:37:59] he could
[00:38:00] have made
[00:38:01] his presidency
[00:38:02] term and
[00:38:03] his name be
[00:38:04] remembered for
[00:38:05] adding the
[00:38:05] 11th team to
[00:38:06] Formula 1
[00:38:07] which is the
[00:38:08] most positive
[00:38:08] thing he's done
[00:38:09] to the sport
[00:38:10] is it
[00:38:10] I think so
[00:38:11] right
[00:38:11] but it's not
[00:38:12] down to him
[00:38:13] as well
[00:38:13] right
[00:38:13] it's not
[00:38:14] down to him
[00:38:14] but if he
[00:38:15] did not
[00:38:16] surprise Formula 1
[00:38:18] by introducing
[00:38:19] a tender
[00:38:20] for the
[00:38:20] 11th team
[00:38:20] we wouldn't
[00:38:21] have had
[00:38:21] 11th team
[00:38:22] correct
[00:38:22] so it is
[00:38:23] the decision
[00:38:24] is not
[00:38:24] down to him
[00:38:25] but he's
[00:38:25] triggered it
[00:38:26] like hey
[00:38:27] guess what
[00:38:27] isn't he on
[00:38:28] for the second
[00:38:28] term already
[00:38:29] no I think
[00:38:30] there is a
[00:38:30] election coming
[00:38:31] you need the
[00:38:32] randomness in
[00:38:33] life right
[00:38:33] so you need
[00:38:34] someone just
[00:38:34] to stir the
[00:38:35] pot up
[00:38:35] like ah
[00:38:35] 11th team
[00:38:36] yes we will
[00:38:37] add something
[00:38:38] fun
[00:38:38] put the 12th
[00:38:40] team there as
[00:38:40] well I think
[00:38:41] we really need
[00:38:42] it you know
[00:38:42] because the
[00:38:43] regulations say
[00:38:43] up to 13
[00:38:44] teams if you
[00:38:45] can put a
[00:38:46] 13th team
[00:38:46] why not
[00:38:47] I mean I'd
[00:38:48] like Mohammed
[00:38:49] Ben Sulayan to
[00:38:49] be in charge of
[00:38:50] my monopoly
[00:38:50] game like he'd
[00:38:51] be the perfect
[00:38:52] person to write
[00:38:52] all the chance
[00:38:53] and community
[00:38:53] chess cards
[00:38:54] any random
[00:38:55] stuff any
[00:38:55] random comments
[00:38:56] ah you wore
[00:38:57] jewelry pay
[00:38:58] 300
[00:38:58] oops oh yes
[00:39:00] lots of those
[00:39:01] bands as well
[00:39:02] I'll tell you
[00:39:02] we cannot
[00:39:03] abuse on the
[00:39:04] podcast
[00:39:05] because all
[00:39:07] the platforms
[00:39:08] have an AI
[00:39:08] tool which
[00:39:09] picks up and
[00:39:10] then they just
[00:39:10] mark you
[00:39:11] explicit and
[00:39:12] your reach goes
[00:39:12] down okay
[00:39:13] I'm pretty sure
[00:39:14] that AI tool is
[00:39:15] called MBS
[00:39:16] because
[00:39:19] well done
[00:39:20] well done
[00:39:21] that sir is
[00:39:23] I was actually
[00:39:23] going to suggest
[00:39:24] an MBS
[00:39:26] moment of the
[00:39:27] year because
[00:39:27] high level
[00:39:28] departures from
[00:39:29] the FIA
[00:39:30] Niels Wittish
[00:39:30] was fired
[00:39:31] Teddy Mayer
[00:39:32] was fired
[00:39:32] via text
[00:39:33] and the
[00:39:34] release said
[00:39:35] they left
[00:39:37] their position
[00:39:37] which is weird
[00:39:39] then there was
[00:39:40] the F2 race
[00:39:41] director
[00:39:41] suddenly getting
[00:39:42] Formula 1 on
[00:39:43] his duties
[00:39:44] because the
[00:39:45] F2 race
[00:39:46] director left
[00:39:47] so
[00:39:47] you know
[00:39:48] in MBS's
[00:39:49] tenure we've
[00:39:49] had three
[00:39:50] race directors
[00:39:50] go away
[00:39:51] Charlie Whiting
[00:39:52] had been here
[00:39:54] in the sport
[00:39:54] for a very
[00:39:55] very long time
[00:39:56] so we've had
[00:39:57] three race
[00:39:57] directors go out
[00:39:58] in MBS's
[00:39:59] time
[00:40:00] and then
[00:40:00] Rui Marquez
[00:40:01] did what
[00:40:01] lots of
[00:40:01] Formula 2
[00:40:02] drivers have
[00:40:02] also done
[00:40:03] like
[00:40:03] Behrman
[00:40:03] you do
[00:40:04] free practice
[00:40:04] in Formula
[00:40:05] 2
[00:40:05] suddenly you're
[00:40:06] called saying
[00:40:06] hey we need
[00:40:07] you in the
[00:40:07] Formula 1 car
[00:40:08] so he did
[00:40:09] F2 and
[00:40:09] F1
[00:40:10] I think it
[00:40:11] was Abu Dhabi
[00:40:11] then of course
[00:40:12] we spoke
[00:40:13] about
[00:40:13] you know
[00:40:14] Teddy Mayer
[00:40:15] and the full
[00:40:15] time
[00:40:15] collection of
[00:40:16] you know
[00:40:16] collection of
[00:40:17] money for
[00:40:18] full time
[00:40:18] stewards
[00:40:19] then he
[00:40:20] wanted to
[00:40:20] adjust the
[00:40:21] FIA structure
[00:40:22] you know
[00:40:23] which
[00:40:24] eventually meant
[00:40:24] that he could
[00:40:25] fool around
[00:40:26] as he wanted
[00:40:26] and nobody
[00:40:27] would catch him
[00:40:28] and in
[00:40:30] 2024
[00:40:30] again there
[00:40:31] was no
[00:40:32] rule
[00:40:32] and this
[00:40:32] is serious
[00:40:33] stuff
[00:40:34] okay
[00:40:34] in play
[00:40:35] so there
[00:40:36] was no
[00:40:36] rule in
[00:40:36] place in
[00:40:37] Formula 1
[00:40:37] to determine
[00:40:38] the race
[00:40:40] start order
[00:40:40] if qualifying
[00:40:42] did not take
[00:40:43] place
[00:40:43] no chance
[00:40:44] they've
[00:40:45] actually amended
[00:40:47] they've
[00:40:47] amended
[00:40:47] the rule
[00:40:49] for 2025
[00:40:49] in 2024
[00:40:51] there was
[00:40:51] a loophole
[00:40:53] I'm not
[00:40:54] making it
[00:40:55] but isn't
[00:40:55] it your
[00:40:55] FP2 times
[00:40:56] or Sunday
[00:40:57] morning qualifying
[00:40:58] yeah it's
[00:40:59] usually the
[00:41:00] last practice
[00:41:02] but it's
[00:41:02] not a rule
[00:41:03] was it not
[00:41:04] in the
[00:41:04] regulation
[00:41:04] it was a
[00:41:05] recommendation
[00:41:05] yes
[00:41:06] you're right
[00:41:06] it's a
[00:41:07] recommendation
[00:41:07] and it
[00:41:08] could also
[00:41:09] be that you
[00:41:09] start in
[00:41:09] championship
[00:41:10] order
[00:41:10] yes that is
[00:41:11] an option
[00:41:11] okay and
[00:41:12] then of
[00:41:12] course our
[00:41:13] favorite
[00:41:13] no swearing
[00:41:14] in the
[00:41:15] press
[00:41:15] conference
[00:41:16] or on
[00:41:17] the radio
[00:41:18] but you
[00:41:18] know on
[00:41:18] the radio
[00:41:19] bit is a
[00:41:19] bit silly
[00:41:20] because the
[00:41:21] radio is
[00:41:21] always delayed
[00:41:23] so if it's
[00:41:23] delayed in
[00:41:24] broadcast just
[00:41:25] do a beep
[00:41:25] but don't
[00:41:26] swear
[00:41:26] but even the
[00:41:27] press conference
[00:41:27] is
[00:41:28] no the
[00:41:29] press conference
[00:41:29] is live
[00:41:30] the press
[00:41:31] conference is
[00:41:31] live for a
[00:41:32] lot of
[00:41:32] channels
[00:41:33] just that we
[00:41:34] don't get
[00:41:34] to see it
[00:41:34] oh we don't
[00:41:35] get to see
[00:41:35] it
[00:41:35] you guys
[00:41:36] are bad
[00:41:36] people for
[00:41:36] swearing
[00:41:37] you should
[00:41:37] understand
[00:41:38] there are
[00:41:38] kids watching
[00:41:39] you must be
[00:41:39] high performance
[00:41:40] athletes doing
[00:41:41] so much of
[00:41:42] intense work
[00:41:43] that I could
[00:41:43] never do in
[00:41:44] a race car
[00:41:45] don't swear
[00:41:45] simple
[00:41:46] I think this
[00:41:47] list is never
[00:41:48] going to end
[00:41:49] if we don't
[00:41:49] jump past
[00:41:50] but battle
[00:41:51] of the year
[00:41:52] Kevin Magnussen
[00:41:53] versus the
[00:41:53] world and
[00:41:54] Magnussen was
[00:41:55] incredible
[00:41:55] incredible this
[00:41:56] year
[00:41:56] he really
[00:41:56] just wanted
[00:41:57] to cause
[00:41:58] chaos
[00:41:58] that was
[00:41:58] amazing
[00:41:59] but for
[00:42:00] me
[00:42:00] another
[00:42:01] incredible
[00:42:02] battle was
[00:42:02] Alpine
[00:42:03] versus
[00:42:03] its own
[00:42:04] engine
[00:42:05] they really
[00:42:06] went at it
[00:42:07] this year
[00:42:07] firstly
[00:42:08] they said
[00:42:09] we will
[00:42:09] shut
[00:42:10] our engine
[00:42:11] operations
[00:42:11] which then
[00:42:12] caused
[00:42:13] a natural
[00:42:13] French
[00:42:14] reaction
[00:42:14] which is
[00:42:15] protest
[00:42:16] and strike
[00:42:17] so that
[00:42:18] happened as
[00:42:18] well
[00:42:19] and the
[00:42:20] Alpine
[00:42:20] employees
[00:42:21] at the
[00:42:21] very
[00:42:21] factory
[00:42:22] were pissed
[00:42:23] as they
[00:42:23] should be
[00:42:24] but then
[00:42:24] they were
[00:42:25] relocated
[00:42:26] or readjusted
[00:42:27] with their
[00:42:27] work responsibilities
[00:42:28] to focus
[00:42:28] more on
[00:42:29] other strategic
[00:42:31] important goals
[00:42:32] for Alpine
[00:42:33] so that's
[00:42:34] a shot in the
[00:42:35] foot
[00:42:35] because no
[00:42:36] engine
[00:42:36] manufacturer
[00:42:36] has ever
[00:42:37] said
[00:42:37] I will
[00:42:38] willingly
[00:42:38] shut down
[00:42:39] my operation
[00:42:39] so that I
[00:42:40] can be a
[00:42:40] better car
[00:42:42] nobody has
[00:42:43] the advantage
[00:42:43] of being
[00:42:44] the engine
[00:42:44] manufacturer
[00:42:45] you have it
[00:42:45] use it
[00:42:46] so they've
[00:42:47] done that
[00:42:48] which is
[00:42:48] very bad
[00:42:48] PR
[00:42:49] for their
[00:42:49] own
[00:42:49] engines
[00:42:50] it is
[00:42:50] road
[00:42:51] cars
[00:42:51] do you
[00:42:52] think the
[00:42:52] French
[00:42:52] ever cared
[00:42:53] about
[00:42:53] PR
[00:42:53] exactly
[00:42:54] and I
[00:42:55] think
[00:42:55] all they
[00:42:56] cared about
[00:42:56] was a
[00:42:56] renaissance
[00:42:57] this is a
[00:42:58] generational
[00:42:59] move
[00:42:59] I think
[00:42:59] 100 years
[00:43:00] down the
[00:43:00] line
[00:43:00] we look
[00:43:01] back at
[00:43:01] this
[00:43:02] and go
[00:43:02] an engine
[00:43:03] manufacturer
[00:43:03] who just
[00:43:04] didn't want
[00:43:04] to make
[00:43:05] engines
[00:43:05] but that's
[00:43:07] typical
[00:43:07] Renault
[00:43:08] right
[00:43:09] they're so
[00:43:10] moody
[00:43:10] they're so
[00:43:11] moody
[00:43:11] like we're
[00:43:12] in
[00:43:12] then we're
[00:43:13] not in
[00:43:13] then we're
[00:43:14] in
[00:43:14] then we're
[00:43:14] in with
[00:43:15] the cars
[00:43:15] then we're
[00:43:15] in with
[00:43:15] the engines
[00:43:16] then we're
[00:43:17] in with
[00:43:17] the engine
[00:43:17] and the
[00:43:17] cars
[00:43:18] now we're
[00:43:18] in just
[00:43:19] with the
[00:43:19] car
[00:43:19] but we've
[00:43:20] sold our
[00:43:20] ownership
[00:43:21] then we have
[00:43:21] three different
[00:43:21] CEOs
[00:43:22] then a strategic
[00:43:23] head
[00:43:23] then a consultant
[00:43:24] then a new
[00:43:25] CEO
[00:43:25] new name
[00:43:26] new name
[00:43:27] I don't know
[00:43:27] what the hell
[00:43:28] is going on
[00:43:29] at that team
[00:43:29] Alpine
[00:43:30] could have
[00:43:30] actually
[00:43:31] done
[00:43:32] the most
[00:43:33] beautiful
[00:43:33] thing in
[00:43:33] Formula 1
[00:43:34] which is
[00:43:35] hire
[00:43:37] themselves
[00:43:37] a Red Bull
[00:43:38] power train
[00:43:38] so it
[00:43:39] could have
[00:43:40] been
[00:43:40] Alpine
[00:43:40] Red Bull
[00:43:41] it could have
[00:43:41] come a full
[00:43:42] circuit
[00:43:42] the V8
[00:43:44] era was
[00:43:45] Renault
[00:43:46] powering
[00:43:46] Red Bull
[00:43:47] to the
[00:43:47] championship
[00:43:48] wins
[00:43:49] but your
[00:43:50] Alpine
[00:43:50] could have
[00:43:50] just done
[00:43:51] that
[00:43:51] but yeah
[00:43:52] the Alpine
[00:43:52] engine also
[00:43:53] gave up
[00:43:53] because
[00:43:54] it figured
[00:43:55] that if
[00:43:56] you're not
[00:43:56] going to run
[00:43:56] me anyway
[00:43:57] I'm not
[00:43:57] going to
[00:43:58] give you
[00:43:58] peak
[00:43:58] performance
[00:43:58] so what
[00:43:59] happened
[00:43:59] in Las Vegas
[00:44:00] Pierre Gasly
[00:44:01] went so
[00:44:01] fast
[00:44:02] that the
[00:44:03] engine
[00:44:03] gave up
[00:44:03] essentially
[00:44:04] the engine
[00:44:05] reached
[00:44:06] peak
[00:44:06] RPM
[00:44:07] and beyond
[00:44:07] because he
[00:44:08] was in
[00:44:08] slipstream
[00:44:09] with Yuki
[00:44:09] Tsunoda
[00:44:09] and so
[00:44:10] the maximum
[00:44:11] speed and
[00:44:11] maximum RPM
[00:44:12] were blasted
[00:44:13] off
[00:44:13] and we all
[00:44:15] know the
[00:44:15] Alpine
[00:44:15] engine is
[00:44:16] not performing
[00:44:16] at the same
[00:44:17] limit or
[00:44:17] performance level
[00:44:18] as the
[00:44:18] other engines
[00:44:19] so what
[00:44:20] happened
[00:44:20] it shut
[00:44:21] down
[00:44:21] it broke
[00:44:22] off
[00:44:22] it literally
[00:44:23] broke off
[00:44:24] and that's
[00:44:24] the only
[00:44:25] damage
[00:44:25] that Pierre
[00:44:26] Gasly has
[00:44:27] apparently
[00:44:27] suffered
[00:44:27] this year
[00:44:28] suffering
[00:44:29] from high
[00:44:29] performance
[00:44:30] suffering
[00:44:30] from
[00:44:31] incredible
[00:44:32] by the
[00:44:33] way
[00:44:33] Alpine
[00:44:34] engineers
[00:44:35] where they
[00:44:36] make the
[00:44:36] power units
[00:44:37] they released
[00:44:38] an audio
[00:44:39] note of
[00:44:40] the 2026
[00:44:41] power unit
[00:44:42] as a
[00:44:42] oh that's
[00:44:43] like a
[00:44:43] picture of
[00:44:43] a stillborn
[00:44:44] baby that
[00:44:44] you're about
[00:44:45] to drop
[00:44:45] that's
[00:44:45] that's
[00:44:46] sad
[00:44:46] you don't
[00:44:48] do that
[00:44:48] stuff
[00:44:48] come on
[00:44:49] yes
[00:44:50] but who's
[00:44:50] the winner
[00:44:51] no no
[00:44:51] we're
[00:44:52] lots more
[00:44:52] nominations
[00:44:53] we don't
[00:44:53] do that
[00:44:53] we cannot
[00:44:54] yeah yeah
[00:44:54] so there's
[00:44:55] drivers versus
[00:44:56] Max Verstappen
[00:44:57] big battle
[00:44:57] how are we
[00:44:58] glancing away
[00:44:59] that is such
[00:44:59] an emotional
[00:45:00] moment like a
[00:45:01] stillborn engine
[00:45:01] and you hear
[00:45:02] the first
[00:45:02] oh that's
[00:45:05] sad
[00:45:06] someone's going
[00:45:06] to take a
[00:45:07] while to get
[00:45:08] past all the
[00:45:08] trauma that
[00:45:09] Alpine has given
[00:45:10] him this year
[00:45:10] my goodness
[00:45:11] and we're not
[00:45:12] even talking
[00:45:12] about management
[00:45:13] changes
[00:45:13] I'm glad
[00:45:14] Carlos Sainz
[00:45:15] moved from
[00:45:16] Ferrari earlier
[00:45:17] in the year
[00:45:17] so he's at
[00:45:18] 24 plus
[00:45:18] he's had time
[00:45:19] to digest that
[00:45:20] but it's going
[00:45:21] to take him
[00:45:21] 2025 parody
[00:45:22] awards
[00:45:23] he'll be okay
[00:45:23] guys don't
[00:45:24] worry all the
[00:45:25] Samuel Aurora
[00:45:25] fans especially
[00:45:26] the girls out
[00:45:27] there yeah
[00:45:28] but
[00:45:29] hey but if
[00:45:30] we're talking
[00:45:31] about battle
[00:45:31] of the year
[00:45:32] wait wait wait
[00:45:32] if you're
[00:45:33] talking yeah go
[00:45:34] on okay so
[00:45:34] now that we're
[00:45:35] on Alpine
[00:45:36] I just want to
[00:45:37] talk about the
[00:45:37] biggest outlier
[00:45:38] I think in
[00:45:40] Formula 1's
[00:45:41] recent era
[00:45:42] about Alpine
[00:45:43] scoring 50%
[00:45:45] of their entire
[00:45:46] points in one
[00:45:47] race and
[00:45:48] earning a 24
[00:45:49] million dollar
[00:45:50] payday theoretically
[00:45:52] just with one
[00:45:53] race like
[00:45:53] Sundaram you
[00:45:54] were looking at
[00:45:55] the numbers
[00:45:55] right you
[00:45:56] did a
[00:45:56] quarterly
[00:45:57] breakdown of
[00:45:58] the points
[00:45:59] that each
[00:45:59] team scored
[00:45:59] in each part
[00:46:00] of the season
[00:46:00] I remember
[00:46:01] first half
[00:46:02] Alpine one
[00:46:03] or two
[00:46:03] points second
[00:46:04] quarter three
[00:46:05] or four third
[00:46:06] quarter four
[00:46:07] or five and
[00:46:07] then last
[00:46:07] race 35 all
[00:46:09] in one go
[00:46:09] they were the
[00:46:10] best of the
[00:46:10] rest in the
[00:46:12] final quarter
[00:46:12] of races they
[00:46:13] they went
[00:46:14] past Aston
[00:46:14] Martin
[00:46:14] Aston Martin
[00:46:15] had a poor
[00:46:16] last quarter
[00:46:17] in 2024 but
[00:46:18] all of that
[00:46:19] actually came
[00:46:20] courtesy of
[00:46:20] Esteban Ocon
[00:46:21] once again
[00:46:22] taking P2
[00:46:23] in Sao Paulo
[00:46:24] but also
[00:46:24] Pierre Gasly's
[00:46:25] couple of good
[00:46:26] runs in the
[00:46:26] last few
[00:46:27] races so yeah
[00:46:28] they scored a
[00:46:28] bunch or a
[00:46:29] bulk of their
[00:46:29] points in those
[00:46:31] last two three
[00:46:31] races
[00:46:31] I would say the
[00:46:32] battle for P6
[00:46:33] Haas Alpine
[00:46:34] racing bull that's
[00:46:35] also my battle
[00:46:35] of the year
[00:46:36] but let's not
[00:46:38] forget there's
[00:46:38] I said the
[00:46:39] drivers versus
[00:46:40] Max Verstappen
[00:46:41] clearly it was
[00:46:41] Max on one side
[00:46:42] and all the
[00:46:43] drivers on the
[00:46:43] other side
[00:46:44] with him being
[00:46:44] bullied
[00:46:45] apart from
[00:46:45] Lando
[00:46:45] even Lando
[00:46:47] got bullied
[00:46:47] come on
[00:46:48] then there was
[00:46:49] also Max
[00:46:49] he wouldn't say
[00:46:50] it though
[00:46:51] he'll just say
[00:46:52] it's a pleasure
[00:46:52] to be bullied
[00:46:53] by Max
[00:46:54] then there was
[00:46:55] Max versus
[00:46:56] Max you know
[00:46:57] Max the bully
[00:46:58] versus Max
[00:46:58] the legend
[00:46:59] you almost
[00:47:00] did not know
[00:47:01] which Max
[00:47:02] would show up
[00:47:02] in a wheel
[00:47:03] to wheel battle
[00:47:03] you wouldn't
[00:47:04] know
[00:47:05] that unpredictability
[00:47:06] in Formula 1
[00:47:07] is the highest
[00:47:07] would he not
[00:47:08] no because
[00:47:09] suddenly he was
[00:47:10] so good like
[00:47:10] oh my god
[00:47:11] look at his
[00:47:11] car placement
[00:47:12] he's given
[00:47:13] enough space
[00:47:13] he's brake
[00:47:14] late
[00:47:14] he's rotated
[00:47:15] the car
[00:47:16] all of that
[00:47:16] suddenly next
[00:47:17] race is like
[00:47:17] boom what's
[00:47:18] he doing
[00:47:18] why is he
[00:47:18] throwing Lando
[00:47:20] off track
[00:47:20] limits each
[00:47:21] time he can
[00:47:21] he's doing
[00:47:21] the good
[00:47:22] cop bad
[00:47:22] cop routine
[00:47:23] yeah he's
[00:47:24] basically
[00:47:24] confusing the
[00:47:25] stewards as
[00:47:25] well right
[00:47:26] listen I can
[00:47:26] race so well
[00:47:27] that you cannot
[00:47:28] penalize me
[00:47:29] but I can also
[00:47:29] race so bad
[00:47:30] that you'll be
[00:47:31] confused this is
[00:47:31] the same guy
[00:47:32] we have to
[00:47:32] penalize this
[00:47:33] weekend
[00:47:33] he confused
[00:47:34] George Russell
[00:47:34] as well in
[00:47:35] Qatar he said
[00:47:36] I'm going to
[00:47:36] crash into you
[00:47:37] but he didn't
[00:47:37] he didn't do
[00:47:38] that
[00:47:39] exactly
[00:47:40] so there is
[00:47:41] wait then at
[00:47:42] the start of
[00:47:43] the season
[00:47:43] there was a
[00:47:44] big battle
[00:47:45] in Red Bull
[00:47:46] the political
[00:47:46] battle
[00:47:47] for power
[00:47:48] Christian Horner
[00:47:50] okay
[00:47:50] with Red Bull
[00:47:52] so there was
[00:47:53] Red Bull
[00:47:53] versus Red Bull
[00:47:54] the Thais
[00:47:54] versus the
[00:47:55] Austrians
[00:47:55] battling for
[00:47:56] power in
[00:47:57] Red Bull
[00:47:57] let's not
[00:47:58] forget that
[00:47:58] which I
[00:47:59] don't know
[00:48:00] who won
[00:48:00] but Christian
[00:48:00] Horner won
[00:48:01] then there
[00:48:02] was Horner
[00:48:03] versus
[00:48:03] Verstappen
[00:48:05] yes
[00:48:05] but not
[00:48:05] Verstappen
[00:48:06] senior
[00:48:07] he did
[00:48:08] not give
[00:48:08] Yoss a
[00:48:09] chance at
[00:48:10] the Red Bull
[00:48:11] car parade
[00:48:12] at the
[00:48:12] Goodwood
[00:48:13] festival
[00:48:13] but
[00:48:15] wait a minute
[00:48:17] battle for
[00:48:18] power
[00:48:18] nothing misses
[00:48:19] all this
[00:48:19] matters
[00:48:21] and this
[00:48:22] is why
[00:48:23] our parody
[00:48:24] awards is so
[00:48:24] good guys
[00:48:25] okay
[00:48:25] I'm biased
[00:48:26] but the content
[00:48:27] is proving
[00:48:28] it
[00:48:28] Christian Horner
[00:48:30] in his
[00:48:31] battle for
[00:48:32] power
[00:48:32] and battle
[00:48:33] against
[00:48:34] Yoss
[00:48:34] Verstappen
[00:48:35] and Yuki
[00:48:36] Sonoda
[00:48:36] he said
[00:48:38] Sebastian
[00:48:38] Fettel's not
[00:48:39] available
[00:48:39] don't worry
[00:48:40] I will
[00:48:40] drive the
[00:48:41] Red Bull
[00:48:41] F1 car
[00:48:42] at Goodwood
[00:48:43] so guess
[00:48:43] what
[00:48:44] Christian Horner
[00:48:44] all the
[00:48:45] Red Bull
[00:48:45] legends
[00:48:46] Ricardo
[00:48:47] Weber
[00:48:47] everyone
[00:48:48] in the
[00:48:48] picture
[00:48:48] and
[00:48:49] in the
[00:48:50] middle
[00:48:50] of all
[00:48:50] of that
[00:48:50] is
[00:48:51] Christian
[00:48:51] Horner
[00:48:51] in
[00:48:52] Red Bull
[00:48:52] overalls
[00:48:53] okay
[00:48:53] that is an
[00:48:54] ego boost
[00:48:54] if there ever
[00:48:55] was one
[00:48:55] I'm very
[00:48:55] surprised
[00:48:56] on a very
[00:48:56] serious note
[00:48:57] I'm very
[00:48:57] surprised
[00:48:58] Red Bull
[00:48:58] did not
[00:48:59] implode
[00:48:59] somewhere
[00:49:00] midway
[00:49:01] through the
[00:49:01] season
[00:49:01] they actually
[00:49:02] still went
[00:49:02] on to finish
[00:49:03] third in the
[00:49:03] championship
[00:49:04] did they
[00:49:04] not
[00:49:05] because
[00:49:06] I think
[00:49:07] this happened
[00:49:07] at the very
[00:49:08] first race
[00:49:08] of the season
[00:49:09] it was that
[00:49:10] early
[00:49:10] and it
[00:49:10] at one
[00:49:12] point
[00:49:12] we were even
[00:49:12] speaking about
[00:49:13] Helmut Marko
[00:49:14] leaving
[00:49:14] Red Bull
[00:49:15] he himself
[00:49:15] said that
[00:49:16] so it
[00:49:17] came to
[00:49:17] that point
[00:49:18] I'm very
[00:49:18] surprised
[00:49:19] that it
[00:49:19] all just
[00:49:20] fizzled out
[00:49:20] beyond that
[00:49:21] you're right
[00:49:21] because
[00:49:22] Verstappen
[00:49:22] stayed on
[00:49:23] Helmut
[00:49:23] was still
[00:49:24] there
[00:49:24] the
[00:49:24] ownership
[00:49:25] battle
[00:49:25] settled in
[00:49:26] knew he
[00:49:27] was peacefully
[00:49:27] transferred off
[00:49:28] as well
[00:49:29] Jonathan Wheatley
[00:49:30] left
[00:49:31] several other
[00:49:32] people
[00:49:33] high level
[00:49:34] departures
[00:49:34] say what
[00:49:34] you want
[00:49:35] the racing
[00:49:35] operation
[00:49:36] continued to
[00:49:37] be
[00:49:37] excellent
[00:49:38] pit stops
[00:49:38] were brilliant
[00:49:39] strategies
[00:49:40] were incredible
[00:49:40] the head of strategy
[00:49:40] gone
[00:49:41] Hannah Schmidt's
[00:49:41] his boss
[00:49:42] basically
[00:49:42] that person
[00:49:43] as well
[00:49:43] so Red Bull
[00:49:44] versus Red Bull
[00:49:45] lots of battles
[00:49:46] there
[00:49:46] Lando Norris
[00:49:47] versus his
[00:49:48] Tars
[00:49:48] exactly
[00:49:49] that's we
[00:49:50] can't forget
[00:49:50] that takes it
[00:49:51] for me
[00:49:52] that takes it
[00:49:52] for me
[00:49:53] Lando Norris
[00:49:53] battling starts
[00:49:54] right until
[00:49:55] the
[00:49:55] where was it
[00:49:57] in Brazil
[00:49:58] he's had
[00:50:00] just two
[00:50:00] successful
[00:50:00] starts
[00:50:01] Singapore
[00:50:03] and Abu Dhabi
[00:50:04] both of them
[00:50:05] are very short
[00:50:06] Zanfurt also
[00:50:07] to a
[00:50:07] Zanfurt he lost
[00:50:08] the position
[00:50:09] but gained it
[00:50:09] back didn't he
[00:50:10] something like that
[00:50:11] so that should be
[00:50:12] okay so that's
[00:50:13] your winner
[00:50:13] Lando versus
[00:50:15] yeah I think
[00:50:15] I'll go for that
[00:50:16] okay
[00:50:17] I still have
[00:50:18] some nominations
[00:50:19] Audi
[00:50:20] the battle for
[00:50:21] power in Audi
[00:50:21] because Audi
[00:50:23] despite being
[00:50:23] on the grid
[00:50:24] not being on
[00:50:26] the grid
[00:50:26] rather
[00:50:26] there is already
[00:50:28] quitting rumours
[00:50:29] that they're going
[00:50:29] to quit Formula
[00:50:30] One
[00:50:30] there's already
[00:50:31] investments
[00:50:31] coming in
[00:50:32] before they've
[00:50:33] started up
[00:50:33] step in the
[00:50:34] door
[00:50:34] at least walk
[00:50:35] through it
[00:50:35] and then
[00:50:36] there are
[00:50:37] management
[00:50:37] changes already
[00:50:38] okay
[00:50:39] and to me
[00:50:40] Audi is the
[00:50:41] biggest question
[00:50:42] mark
[00:50:42] from 2026
[00:50:43] let's see
[00:50:44] where it goes
[00:50:45] but
[00:50:45] Williams versus
[00:50:46] its drivers
[00:50:47] would actually
[00:50:48] be my winner
[00:50:49] oh my goodness
[00:50:49] we're sharing
[00:50:50] this one
[00:50:50] it's totally
[00:50:51] okay
[00:50:51] and this
[00:50:53] also for me
[00:50:53] has to be
[00:50:55] a stat
[00:50:55] of the year
[00:50:56] because
[00:50:57] if I ask
[00:50:58] you a question
[00:50:59] which driver
[00:51:00] in Williams
[00:51:01] has caused
[00:51:02] the biggest
[00:51:02] crash bill
[00:51:03] what would
[00:51:04] your answer
[00:51:04] be for that
[00:51:05] okay
[00:51:05] which
[00:51:06] Williams driver
[00:51:07] do you think
[00:51:08] has actually
[00:51:08] caused
[00:51:09] the biggest
[00:51:10] crash bill
[00:51:10] for the year
[00:51:11] you would
[00:51:11] expect
[00:51:12] it to be
[00:51:12] the punching bag
[00:51:13] Logan Sargent
[00:51:14] but supposedly
[00:51:15] it's not
[00:51:15] I know
[00:51:16] we don't have
[00:51:17] rank them in
[00:51:18] order
[00:51:18] I think
[00:51:20] it might
[00:51:21] be
[00:51:21] Colopinto
[00:51:22] Albon
[00:51:23] and Sargent
[00:51:23] you are
[00:51:24] right
[00:51:25] I know
[00:51:26] my numbers
[00:51:26] Franco Colopinto
[00:51:27] has actually
[00:51:27] had more
[00:51:28] damage this
[00:51:28] year than
[00:51:28] Albon
[00:51:29] and Logan
[00:51:30] Sargent
[00:51:30] but you know
[00:51:31] what
[00:51:31] I think
[00:51:32] that's still
[00:51:33] okay
[00:51:33] you can
[00:51:34] you can
[00:51:35] clean up
[00:51:36] a fast
[00:51:37] driver
[00:51:37] that's what
[00:51:38] happened to
[00:51:38] Max Verstappen
[00:51:39] as well
[00:51:40] at Red Bull
[00:51:40] you can
[00:51:42] help a
[00:51:43] fast driver
[00:51:44] slow down
[00:51:44] and clean
[00:51:45] up his act
[00:51:46] at the right
[00:51:47] times
[00:51:47] but could
[00:51:48] we have
[00:51:49] made Logan
[00:51:50] Sargent
[00:51:50] any quicker
[00:51:50] could Williams
[00:51:51] have made
[00:51:52] Logan
[00:51:52] Sargent
[00:51:52] any quicker
[00:51:53] for example
[00:51:54] even if
[00:51:54] Logan
[00:51:55] Sargent
[00:51:55] is quick
[00:51:56] you cannot
[00:51:56] create a
[00:51:57] new floor
[00:51:58] in a day
[00:51:59] especially when
[00:52:00] you're damaging
[00:52:00] them at the
[00:52:01] rate of two
[00:52:02] floors a weekend
[00:52:02] or something
[00:52:03] like that
[00:52:03] it's
[00:52:03] unbelievable
[00:52:05] but I get
[00:52:06] you
[00:52:06] Williams had
[00:52:07] to right
[00:52:07] it's
[00:52:07] it's
[00:52:08] it's
[00:52:08] at a stage
[00:52:09] where
[00:52:09] you have
[00:52:10] to make
[00:52:10] that
[00:52:10] change
[00:52:11] but
[00:52:12] holy
[00:52:12] wow
[00:52:13] did they
[00:52:13] suffer
[00:52:13] like
[00:52:14] lack
[00:52:14] of spare
[00:52:15] parts
[00:52:15] duct tape
[00:52:16] at the end
[00:52:16] season
[00:52:17] what did
[00:52:17] gain at
[00:52:18] the end
[00:52:18] did they
[00:52:19] gain anything
[00:52:19] with the
[00:52:19] whole
[00:52:20] Colopinto
[00:52:20] move
[00:52:21] money
[00:52:22] Argentine
[00:52:23] money
[00:52:23] is that
[00:52:24] I think
[00:52:24] that's the
[00:52:25] only thing
[00:52:25] that they
[00:52:25] earned
[00:52:25] because
[00:52:26] they
[00:52:26] obviously
[00:52:26] did not
[00:52:26] gain
[00:52:27] positions
[00:52:27] they got
[00:52:28] a couple
[00:52:28] of points
[00:52:29] since he
[00:52:29] came in
[00:52:29] but it
[00:52:30] wasn't
[00:52:30] enough
[00:52:31] to actually
[00:52:32] gain a
[00:52:32] place
[00:52:33] in the
[00:52:33] they gained
[00:52:33] space
[00:52:34] on their
[00:52:34] freights
[00:52:35] back home
[00:52:35] because all
[00:52:36] the parts
[00:52:36] were already
[00:52:37] left in
[00:52:37] the dustbin
[00:52:38] or something
[00:52:38] like that
[00:52:38] they can't
[00:52:39] use them
[00:52:39] anymore
[00:52:39] but I'll
[00:52:40] tell you
[00:52:40] what they
[00:52:41] got
[00:52:41] they
[00:52:42] got
[00:52:42] a real
[00:52:43] world
[00:52:43] evaluation
[00:52:44] of
[00:52:44] Colopinto
[00:52:45] tomorrow
[00:52:46] if
[00:52:46] Carlos Sainz
[00:52:47] leaves
[00:52:47] Williams
[00:52:48] for
[00:52:49] midway
[00:52:49] through
[00:52:50] because there is
[00:52:51] apparently a
[00:52:52] clause that if
[00:52:53] Red Bull or
[00:52:54] Ferrari or
[00:52:55] Mercedes come
[00:52:55] calling he
[00:52:56] will be
[00:52:57] allowed to
[00:52:57] go
[00:52:57] if they
[00:52:58] leave
[00:52:59] they will
[00:53:00] put Colopinto
[00:53:01] in that
[00:53:01] car
[00:53:02] and they
[00:53:02] already know
[00:53:03] that they
[00:53:04] priced Colopinto
[00:53:05] well in the
[00:53:05] market saying
[00:53:06] 20 million
[00:53:07] dollars if you
[00:53:07] want him
[00:53:08] so they
[00:53:08] are
[00:53:08] I think
[00:53:10] they've
[00:53:10] gained
[00:53:10] but to
[00:53:11] be fair
[00:53:11] Williams
[00:53:11] have to
[00:53:12] put that
[00:53:12] offer
[00:53:12] because this
[00:53:13] year they
[00:53:13] suffered
[00:53:14] from damages
[00:53:15] with a total
[00:53:15] cost of
[00:53:16] 14 million
[00:53:17] euros so
[00:53:18] 20 million
[00:53:18] is only
[00:53:18] fair
[00:53:19] but that
[00:53:20] 14 million
[00:53:20] is across
[00:53:21] three drivers
[00:53:21] right
[00:53:22] and the
[00:53:22] 20 million
[00:53:23] is
[00:53:23] so
[00:53:23] but teams
[00:53:25] already
[00:53:25] they dial
[00:53:27] these things
[00:53:27] into their
[00:53:28] budgets
[00:53:28] they do
[00:53:30] but the
[00:53:30] money is not
[00:53:31] the problem
[00:53:31] the spare
[00:53:32] is not being
[00:53:32] available
[00:53:33] but that's
[00:53:34] always a
[00:53:35] challenge
[00:53:36] even Mercedes
[00:53:36] in Austin
[00:53:37] did not
[00:53:38] have enough
[00:53:38] spares
[00:53:38] and Lewis
[00:53:39] said
[00:53:39] you know
[00:53:39] what
[00:53:39] give my
[00:53:40] spares to
[00:53:40] George
[00:53:41] if there's
[00:53:41] a better
[00:53:41] chance of
[00:53:42] him getting
[00:53:42] it
[00:53:42] yeah
[00:53:42] so
[00:53:43] so
[00:53:44] I
[00:53:44] and frankly
[00:53:45] I wouldn't
[00:53:46] fall for that
[00:53:46] 14 million
[00:53:47] figure
[00:53:47] till
[00:53:48] we'll come
[00:53:49] to that
[00:53:50] a bit later
[00:53:51] yeah
[00:53:51] okay
[00:53:52] since we're
[00:53:53] talking of
[00:53:53] Williams
[00:53:53] we're gonna
[00:53:54] switch categories
[00:53:55] to the
[00:53:55] switch of
[00:53:56] the year
[00:53:56] because
[00:53:57] Williams
[00:53:58] switching
[00:53:59] Franco
[00:54:00] Colapinto
[00:54:00] for Logan
[00:54:01] Sargent
[00:54:02] was that
[00:54:02] big surprise
[00:54:03] of the year
[00:54:04] there are
[00:54:05] the obvious
[00:54:06] ones
[00:54:07] Lewis
[00:54:07] switching
[00:54:08] for Ferrari
[00:54:08] I would say
[00:54:09] that's a
[00:54:09] nomination as
[00:54:10] well
[00:54:11] Flavio
[00:54:12] Briatore
[00:54:12] to Alpine
[00:54:13] is the
[00:54:14] biggest puzzle
[00:54:15] that's mine
[00:54:15] that's a good
[00:54:16] one
[00:54:16] yeah
[00:54:17] that's the
[00:54:17] biggest
[00:54:17] puzzle
[00:54:18] then
[00:54:19] Carlos
[00:54:20] Sainz
[00:54:20] not finding
[00:54:21] a better
[00:54:21] team to
[00:54:21] switch to
[00:54:22] after being
[00:54:23] kicked out
[00:54:23] from Ferrari
[00:54:24] is also
[00:54:26] one of the
[00:54:26] nominations
[00:54:28] McLarens
[00:54:28] in Hungary
[00:54:29] switch or
[00:54:29] switch me
[00:54:30] not
[00:54:30] switch or
[00:54:31] switch me
[00:54:31] not
[00:54:31] and their
[00:54:32] constant
[00:54:32] should we
[00:54:33] switch
[00:54:33] at your
[00:54:34] own
[00:54:34] convenience
[00:54:34] switch at
[00:54:35] your own
[00:54:35] convenience
[00:54:36] so that's
[00:54:37] there
[00:54:37] Adrian
[00:54:38] Newey
[00:54:38] to Aston
[00:54:39] Martin
[00:54:40] loved it
[00:54:40] yeah
[00:54:41] that's the
[00:54:42] switch
[00:54:42] look at the
[00:54:43] smile on
[00:54:43] this guy's
[00:54:44] face
[00:54:44] it's
[00:54:45] lots of
[00:54:45] hope and
[00:54:46] delusion
[00:54:46] are you
[00:54:48] going to be
[00:54:48] at the
[00:54:48] Dadford Road
[00:54:49] factory
[00:54:50] with a
[00:54:51] plate of
[00:54:52] plate of
[00:54:52] thali
[00:54:53] I've been
[00:54:54] saving a
[00:54:54] lot of
[00:54:55] money for
[00:54:55] the next
[00:54:55] two years
[00:54:56] normally
[00:54:57] and this
[00:54:58] is for
[00:54:58] all our
[00:54:58] overseas
[00:54:59] listeners
[00:55:00] and viewers
[00:55:00] when you
[00:55:01] welcome
[00:55:01] somebody
[00:55:02] home
[00:55:02] you have
[00:55:03] a plate
[00:55:04] with some
[00:55:04] fire
[00:55:04] and
[00:55:06] marigold
[00:55:06] flowers
[00:55:07] and some
[00:55:07] incense
[00:55:08] sticks
[00:55:08] and you
[00:55:08] do a
[00:55:09] puja
[00:55:10] saying
[00:55:10] come
[00:55:11] home
[00:55:12] welcome
[00:55:12] home
[00:55:13] when Fernando
[00:55:13] came to
[00:55:14] Chennai
[00:55:14] but nobody
[00:55:15] called us
[00:55:15] he had a
[00:55:17] marigold
[00:55:18] garland
[00:55:19] around his
[00:55:19] neck
[00:55:20] when he
[00:55:21] sat there
[00:55:21] and he
[00:55:21] said
[00:55:22] wanna come
[00:55:23] but I
[00:55:24] don't know
[00:55:24] if I said
[00:55:24] it right
[00:55:24] did he
[00:55:25] say that
[00:55:25] yeah I
[00:55:26] think he
[00:55:26] said
[00:55:26] wanna come
[00:55:26] Chennai
[00:55:27] you're right
[00:55:28] very RCB
[00:55:29] feel from
[00:55:29] this
[00:55:29] I get a
[00:55:30] very RCB
[00:55:31] fan feeling
[00:55:31] but wait
[00:55:32] no switching
[00:55:34] to cricket
[00:55:34] we are still
[00:55:35] on the
[00:55:35] and the
[00:55:36] clock is
[00:55:37] counting
[00:55:37] down
[00:55:38] almost
[00:55:38] 55 minutes
[00:55:39] in
[00:55:39] really
[00:55:40] yeah
[00:55:40] so
[00:55:41] Williams
[00:55:42] switching
[00:55:42] cars
[00:55:43] between
[00:55:43] Sargent
[00:55:44] and
[00:55:44] Albin
[00:55:45] amazing
[00:55:45] in Australia
[00:55:46] brilliant
[00:55:46] decision
[00:55:47] I love
[00:55:48] the ruthlessness
[00:55:48] of Formula
[00:55:49] One
[00:55:50] Fernando
[00:55:51] Alonso
[00:55:51] switching
[00:55:52] his views
[00:55:52] on Aston
[00:55:53] Martin
[00:55:53] first race
[00:55:54] of the
[00:55:54] season
[00:55:55] was like
[00:55:55] oh my
[00:55:55] god
[00:55:56] what a
[00:55:56] brilliant
[00:55:56] car
[00:55:57] I love
[00:55:57] it
[00:55:57] wasn't
[00:55:58] that last
[00:55:58] year
[00:55:59] that was
[00:55:59] last year
[00:55:59] probably
[00:56:00] every year
[00:56:00] and Lance
[00:56:02] was his
[00:56:02] idol
[00:56:03] at that
[00:56:03] point
[00:56:03] hero
[00:56:05] and then
[00:56:06] the last
[00:56:06] race of
[00:56:06] the season
[00:56:07] like oh
[00:56:07] my goodness
[00:56:08] get this
[00:56:08] shit out
[00:56:09] of my
[00:56:09] way
[00:56:09] kind
[00:56:09] of
[00:56:09] thing
[00:56:10] I
[00:56:10] mean
[00:56:10] I
[00:56:10] remember
[00:56:11] in Singapore
[00:56:11] he pressed
[00:56:12] all the
[00:56:12] buttons
[00:56:13] on the
[00:56:13] steering
[00:56:14] wheel
[00:56:14] and his
[00:56:14] engineer
[00:56:15] was trying
[00:56:15] to
[00:56:15] correct
[00:56:15] him
[00:56:15] I'm
[00:56:16] trying
[00:56:16] to
[00:56:16] press
[00:56:17] all the
[00:56:17] buttons
[00:56:17] so I
[00:56:17] don't
[00:56:18] crash
[00:56:18] this
[00:56:18] car
[00:56:19] so that's
[00:56:20] another
[00:56:21] switch of
[00:56:22] the year
[00:56:22] nomination
[00:56:23] I
[00:56:24] I think
[00:56:24] Sauber
[00:56:25] nobody
[00:56:25] cared
[00:56:25] that
[00:56:26] Seidel
[00:56:26] was
[00:56:26] out
[00:56:27] and
[00:56:28] Pinotto
[00:56:28] came
[00:56:28] in
[00:56:29] but
[00:56:30] that's
[00:56:31] an
[00:56:31] interesting
[00:56:31] switch
[00:56:32] seeing
[00:56:32] Mattia
[00:56:33] back
[00:56:33] there
[00:56:33] and then
[00:56:34] a question
[00:56:34] for you
[00:56:34] guys
[00:56:34] what
[00:56:35] do you
[00:56:35] call
[00:56:35] the second
[00:56:36] Red Bull
[00:56:36] racing team
[00:56:37] without
[00:56:37] thinking
[00:56:37] these are
[00:56:40] cash
[00:56:41] app
[00:56:41] racing
[00:56:42] bulls
[00:56:42] Formula
[00:56:43] One
[00:56:43] team
[00:56:45] RBPT
[00:56:47] my goodness
[00:56:48] no wonder
[00:56:49] that's the
[00:56:49] name that
[00:56:50] they've chosen
[00:56:50] it is
[00:56:50] Sauber
[00:56:51] is the
[00:56:51] generation
[00:56:52] Formula
[00:56:52] One
[00:56:52] is
[00:56:53] attractive
[00:56:53] I've
[00:56:54] always
[00:56:54] called it
[00:56:55] Alpha
[00:56:55] Tauri
[00:56:55] or
[00:56:55] Toro
[00:56:56] Rosso
[00:56:56] see
[00:56:57] the fact
[00:56:57] that you're
[00:56:57] considering
[00:56:58] Alpha
[00:56:58] Tauri
[00:56:58] is also
[00:56:59] wrong
[00:57:00] why
[00:57:00] there's
[00:57:00] such
[00:57:01] much
[00:57:01] better
[00:57:02] names
[00:57:02] Toro
[00:57:02] Rosso
[00:57:03] which means
[00:57:04] Red Bull
[00:57:05] and
[00:57:05] Red Bull
[00:57:06] Toro
[00:57:07] Rosso
[00:57:07] so anyway
[00:57:07] that's the
[00:57:08] switch
[00:57:08] nobody knows
[00:57:09] what
[00:57:09] they've
[00:57:10] switched
[00:57:10] names
[00:57:10] again
[00:57:10] so RB
[00:57:11] is now
[00:57:12] officially
[00:57:12] legally
[00:57:13] racing bulls
[00:57:15] no they've
[00:57:15] not announced
[00:57:16] that yet
[00:57:16] they have
[00:57:16] they have
[00:57:17] but
[00:57:18] okay the
[00:57:19] entry list
[00:57:19] has the
[00:57:20] full name
[00:57:20] but I think
[00:57:21] they've still
[00:57:22] not announced
[00:57:22] themselves as
[00:57:23] racing bulls
[00:57:23] the entry list
[00:57:25] also has
[00:57:26] check of
[00:57:26] it as in it
[00:57:27] by the way
[00:57:27] but another
[00:57:29] I think for
[00:57:30] me the
[00:57:31] switch of
[00:57:31] the year
[00:57:31] we have
[00:57:32] one more
[00:57:33] nomination
[00:57:35] so Lando
[00:57:35] Norris
[00:57:36] going from
[00:57:37] all luck
[00:57:38] no talent
[00:57:38] to saying
[00:57:39] that in the
[00:57:39] FIA Gala
[00:57:40] I take those
[00:57:41] statements
[00:57:41] back
[00:57:41] that was
[00:57:42] meant to be
[00:57:42] court of
[00:57:43] the year
[00:57:45] he can win
[00:57:47] both
[00:57:47] that is of
[00:57:47] course
[00:57:48] something
[00:57:48] he can win
[00:57:49] some
[00:57:49] he's trying to
[00:57:50] win the
[00:57:50] double here
[00:57:51] at least
[00:57:51] finally
[00:57:53] so you
[00:57:54] have a
[00:57:54] nomination
[00:57:54] or are you
[00:57:55] picking a
[00:57:55] winner
[00:57:55] I have a
[00:57:56] winner
[00:57:56] okay wait
[00:57:56] I have another
[00:57:57] nomination
[00:57:58] Verstappen and
[00:57:59] Leclerc going
[00:58:00] from rivals
[00:58:01] to friends
[00:58:01] it's only
[00:58:02] only for
[00:58:02] 2024
[00:58:03] last year
[00:58:03] they were
[00:58:04] rivals
[00:58:04] when were
[00:58:05] rivals
[00:58:06] 2022
[00:58:07] they started
[00:58:07] the season
[00:58:08] with Leclerc
[00:58:08] briefly
[00:58:09] five races
[00:58:09] five out of
[00:58:11] 23 is
[00:58:12] one fourth
[00:58:13] of the season
[00:58:13] almost
[00:58:14] okay
[00:58:14] because
[00:58:15] Max Verstappen
[00:58:17] when he
[00:58:17] couldn't compete
[00:58:18] against the
[00:58:19] McLarens
[00:58:19] he switched
[00:58:21] to training
[00:58:22] he switched
[00:58:23] switch is the
[00:58:24] nomination here
[00:58:24] right
[00:58:25] the category
[00:58:25] he switched to
[00:58:26] training Leclerc
[00:58:27] on the radio
[00:58:28] which was this
[00:58:29] race
[00:58:29] come on Charles
[00:58:31] so many mistakes
[00:58:33] while Leclerc
[00:58:34] and Norris
[00:58:34] were battling
[00:58:35] and then
[00:58:35] there was
[00:58:36] I think
[00:58:36] he gave
[00:58:37] Leclerc
[00:58:38] the slipstream
[00:58:39] in Brazil
[00:58:40] so Leclerc
[00:58:41] could go
[00:58:41] split the
[00:58:42] McLarens
[00:58:42] but that was
[00:58:43] incredible
[00:58:44] because I
[00:58:44] don't think
[00:58:45] we've seen
[00:58:45] Formula 1
[00:58:46] drivers race
[00:58:46] with that
[00:58:47] purity
[00:58:48] of racing
[00:58:49] ever
[00:58:49] like there's
[00:58:50] no strategy
[00:58:50] on the line
[00:58:51] nothing
[00:58:51] save your
[00:58:52] tyres
[00:58:52] manage your
[00:58:53] fuel
[00:58:53] and just
[00:58:54] be the
[00:58:55] fastest
[00:58:55] driver
[00:58:55] and in
[00:58:56] that we
[00:58:56] got to
[00:58:57] hear their
[00:58:57] psychology
[00:58:57] of
[00:58:58] Verstappen
[00:58:58] actually
[00:58:59] expressing
[00:59:00] what he
[00:59:00] felt about
[00:59:00] Leclerc's
[00:59:01] space
[00:59:01] and Leclerc
[00:59:02] also then
[00:59:02] coming on
[00:59:02] the radio
[00:59:03] and saying
[00:59:03] I don't
[00:59:04] have any
[00:59:04] confidence
[00:59:04] I have to
[00:59:05] follow along
[00:59:05] that sprint
[00:59:06] race to me
[00:59:07] was
[00:59:08] brilliant
[00:59:08] so the
[00:59:10] winner is
[00:59:13] FIA
[00:59:13] for switching
[00:59:14] race directors
[00:59:15] the winner is
[00:59:16] never who you
[00:59:17] think it is
[00:59:17] and even the
[00:59:18] FIA didn't
[00:59:19] think about
[00:59:19] this
[00:59:19] they just
[00:59:20] swapped race
[00:59:21] directors
[00:59:21] whenever they
[00:59:21] wanted to
[00:59:22] at their own
[00:59:22] will
[00:59:22] the race
[00:59:23] director is
[00:59:24] never who
[00:59:24] you think
[00:59:24] it is
[00:59:27] or sometimes
[00:59:28] a race
[00:59:28] director can
[00:59:29] be a TV
[00:59:29] director
[00:59:30] possible
[00:59:31] it happens
[00:59:32] at times
[00:59:33] but another
[00:59:34] big switch
[00:59:34] we have to
[00:59:35] talk about
[00:59:35] inside line
[00:59:36] to video
[00:59:36] you guys
[00:59:36] can see us
[00:59:37] now
[00:59:37] how cool
[00:59:38] is that
[00:59:39] and we're
[00:59:40] putting a
[00:59:40] sustained
[00:59:40] effort for
[00:59:41] that
[00:59:41] and a
[00:59:42] big round
[00:59:42] of applause
[00:59:43] to Sarang
[00:59:43] for helping
[00:59:44] us set up
[00:59:44] the framing
[00:59:45] and the
[00:59:47] entire team
[00:59:47] that's going
[00:59:48] to edit
[00:59:48] this
[00:59:48] so just like
[00:59:50] McLaren have
[00:59:50] been upgrading
[00:59:51] year on year
[00:59:52] it's happening
[00:59:52] here as
[00:59:53] well
[00:59:53] yeah
[00:59:53] okay
[00:59:54] quote of
[00:59:55] the year
[00:59:55] we're way
[00:59:56] over time
[00:59:57] so we need
[00:59:58] to rush
[00:59:58] one hour in
[00:59:58] one hour in
[01:00:00] there's
[01:00:00] chirpy little
[01:00:01] terrier
[01:00:02] there's put him
[01:00:03] on his head
[01:00:03] on the wall
[01:00:04] there's world
[01:00:05] champion's move
[01:00:07] bioscopy
[01:00:07] when Max Verstappen
[01:00:09] tapped him
[01:00:09] that is a
[01:00:09] very good
[01:00:10] one
[01:00:10] and also
[01:00:11] this is
[01:00:12] incredible
[01:00:12] right
[01:00:12] I think
[01:00:13] the commercial
[01:00:13] head of
[01:00:14] Liberty Media
[01:00:14] said this
[01:00:15] to Mario
[01:00:15] Andretti
[01:00:16] Formula One
[01:00:17] world champion
[01:00:17] and he
[01:00:18] said
[01:00:19] Mario
[01:00:19] I will do
[01:00:20] whatever I
[01:00:21] can
[01:00:21] to make
[01:00:22] sure that
[01:00:22] your son
[01:00:23] doesn't
[01:00:24] get in
[01:00:25] Formula One
[01:00:27] he's partially
[01:00:27] right
[01:00:28] his son
[01:00:28] isn't in
[01:00:29] Formula One
[01:00:29] it's his
[01:00:30] team
[01:00:30] but that's
[01:00:31] a Hollywood
[01:00:32] level quote
[01:00:33] that is stuff
[01:00:33] you see
[01:00:34] in like a
[01:00:34] Godfather type
[01:00:35] movie
[01:00:35] so that
[01:00:36] to me is
[01:00:37] Formula One
[01:00:37] getting there
[01:00:38] I don't think
[01:00:39] Sonny Hayes
[01:00:40] had any quote
[01:00:40] this year
[01:00:41] he's a very
[01:00:41] quiet driver
[01:00:43] got lots of
[01:00:44] wins and podiums
[01:00:45] couple of
[01:00:45] crashes
[01:00:45] but no
[01:00:46] quotes in
[01:00:46] the media
[01:00:47] I have no
[01:00:47] stats on that
[01:00:47] either
[01:00:48] what happened
[01:00:49] to Sonny Hayes
[01:00:50] I'm just
[01:00:50] wondering
[01:00:51] but the
[01:00:52] GPD letter
[01:00:52] was full of
[01:00:53] incredible quotes
[01:00:54] didn't George
[01:00:55] Russell basically
[01:00:55] paraphrase
[01:00:56] in
[01:00:58] basically say
[01:00:59] Ben Salah
[01:00:59] and stick it
[01:01:00] up your own
[01:01:00] because
[01:01:01] he literally
[01:01:02] said mind
[01:01:03] your own
[01:01:03] language
[01:01:04] and your
[01:01:05] own behaviour
[01:01:05] and also
[01:01:06] mind where
[01:01:07] our money
[01:01:07] is going
[01:01:08] which to
[01:01:09] me is
[01:01:09] just like
[01:01:09] a gigantic
[01:01:10] middle finger
[01:01:11] it's a quote
[01:01:12] of the year
[01:01:12] for me
[01:01:12] that letter
[01:01:14] was screaming
[01:01:14] George Russell
[01:01:15] through and
[01:01:16] through
[01:01:17] incredible
[01:01:18] proper
[01:01:18] so
[01:01:20] the GPDA
[01:01:21] is I think
[01:01:21] one of the
[01:01:22] best things
[01:01:22] that's happened
[01:01:23] to Formula One
[01:01:24] keeping the
[01:01:24] sport
[01:01:25] it's keeping
[01:01:26] the FIA
[01:01:27] honest
[01:01:28] and I
[01:01:28] think
[01:01:29] MBS
[01:01:29] or
[01:01:30] Mohammed
[01:01:30] Ben
[01:01:30] Sulaim
[01:01:31] is just
[01:01:31] going to
[01:01:31] go out
[01:01:32] and try
[01:01:33] and be
[01:01:34] over smart
[01:01:34] about this
[01:01:35] but look at
[01:01:35] us back
[01:01:36] at MBS
[01:01:36] again
[01:01:37] yeah
[01:01:37] it was a
[01:01:38] very planned
[01:01:39] thing that
[01:01:39] they did
[01:01:39] actually
[01:01:40] you know
[01:01:40] they actually
[01:01:40] came out
[01:01:41] with an
[01:01:41] Instagram
[01:01:41] account
[01:01:42] and they
[01:01:43] waited for
[01:01:43] literally a
[01:01:44] week
[01:01:44] for it
[01:01:45] to gain
[01:01:45] a following
[01:01:46] and then
[01:01:46] they put
[01:01:47] out
[01:01:47] the letter
[01:01:47] so it
[01:01:47] was all
[01:01:48] very pre
[01:01:48] planned
[01:01:48] very thought
[01:01:49] out
[01:01:49] and
[01:01:50] they're
[01:01:50] bringing
[01:01:51] out
[01:01:51] jewellery
[01:01:51] an issue
[01:01:52] from 2020
[01:01:52] or 2021
[01:01:55] all those
[01:01:56] things have
[01:01:57] come back
[01:01:57] into the
[01:01:57] focus
[01:01:58] once again
[01:01:58] yeah
[01:01:59] feels like
[01:02:00] school
[01:02:00] talking of
[01:02:01] the FIA
[01:02:01] I was
[01:02:02] asked to
[01:02:02] go
[01:02:03] Neil's
[01:02:03] Wittich
[01:02:04] another
[01:02:04] quote
[01:02:04] that's
[01:02:05] a bombshell
[01:02:05] yeah
[01:02:06] one of my
[01:02:07] favorites was
[01:02:07] when Lewis
[01:02:08] knew that
[01:02:09] Stefano
[01:02:09] was on TV
[01:02:10] in Brazil
[01:02:11] in the rain
[01:02:11] and he
[01:02:11] said
[01:02:12] we should
[01:02:12] have been
[01:02:13] out there
[01:02:13] if only
[01:02:14] you give
[01:02:14] us better
[01:02:14] wet tires
[01:02:15] or rain
[01:02:16] blankets
[01:02:16] or whatever
[01:02:18] and then
[01:02:19] there was
[01:02:20] actually
[01:02:20] only Lewis
[01:02:21] can do
[01:02:21] that
[01:02:22] only Lewis
[01:02:23] can do
[01:02:23] that
[01:02:23] or Max
[01:02:24] no
[01:02:24] I think
[01:02:25] so
[01:02:25] because Max
[01:02:26] he wouldn't
[01:02:27] care much
[01:02:27] he'd probably
[01:02:28] be sitting
[01:02:29] in his
[01:02:29] sim
[01:02:30] in the
[01:02:30] motorhome
[01:02:31] but the
[01:02:31] charm
[01:02:31] of a
[01:02:32] Lewis
[01:02:32] to come
[01:02:33] on TV
[01:02:33] and just
[01:02:33] be
[01:02:33] so innocent
[01:02:34] about this
[01:02:35] even though
[01:02:35] he knows
[01:02:36] exactly
[01:02:36] what he's
[01:02:37] doing
[01:02:37] so good
[01:02:38] so good
[01:02:39] but there
[01:02:40] were more
[01:02:40] there were
[01:02:41] more
[01:02:41] I have a
[01:02:42] few
[01:02:43] Checo
[01:02:43] Perez
[01:02:43] quotes
[01:02:44] which
[01:02:45] my
[01:02:46] funniest
[01:02:46] was
[01:02:46] he
[01:02:47] hit a
[01:02:47] bird
[01:02:47] in China
[01:02:48] and then
[01:02:49] he tells
[01:02:50] his radio
[01:02:50] that was
[01:02:51] your brother
[01:02:52] and his
[01:02:53] radio
[01:02:53] engineer
[01:02:54] his
[01:02:54] engineer
[01:02:54] was
[01:02:55] is
[01:02:56] Hugh
[01:02:56] Bird
[01:02:56] so I
[01:02:57] found
[01:02:57] that damn
[01:02:58] funny
[01:02:58] damn
[01:02:58] damn
[01:02:59] I
[01:02:59] hit
[01:03:00] your
[01:03:00] brother
[01:03:00] yeah
[01:03:02] and then
[01:03:04] Perez's
[01:03:05] favorite
[01:03:05] quote
[01:03:06] when
[01:03:07] he's
[01:03:07] ever
[01:03:08] being
[01:03:08] threatened
[01:03:08] to leave
[01:03:09] a team
[01:03:09] or asked
[01:03:10] to leave
[01:03:10] a team
[01:03:10] I
[01:03:11] have
[01:03:12] a
[01:03:12] contract
[01:03:14] he
[01:03:14] did
[01:03:15] this
[01:03:15] at
[01:03:16] Aston
[01:03:16] Martin
[01:03:17] Racing
[01:03:17] Point
[01:03:17] he's
[01:03:18] doing
[01:03:18] this
[01:03:19] at
[01:03:19] Red
[01:03:19] Bull
[01:03:19] as well
[01:03:20] and
[01:03:21] then
[01:03:23] we
[01:03:24] should
[01:03:24] are we
[01:03:25] trying to
[01:03:26] fix
[01:03:26] a winner
[01:03:26] here
[01:03:27] we
[01:03:27] are
[01:03:27] but
[01:03:28] while
[01:03:28] we
[01:03:28] do
[01:03:29] that
[01:03:29] there
[01:03:29] was
[01:03:29] another
[01:03:29] Sergio
[01:03:30] Perez
[01:03:30] quote
[01:03:30] that
[01:03:30] we
[01:03:30] have
[01:03:31] to
[01:03:31] bring
[01:03:31] up
[01:03:31] and
[01:03:31] this
[01:03:32] is
[01:03:32] an
[01:03:32] incredible
[01:03:32] story
[01:03:33] the
[01:03:33] backdrop
[01:03:34] Sergio
[01:03:34] Perez
[01:03:35] is
[01:03:35] under
[01:03:35] pressure
[01:03:36] he
[01:03:37] has
[01:03:37] been
[01:03:38] badly
[01:03:38] outperformed
[01:03:39] by
[01:03:39] Max
[01:03:40] Verstappen
[01:03:40] he's
[01:03:41] not
[01:03:41] beaten
[01:03:41] Max
[01:03:41] Verstappen
[01:03:42] for
[01:03:42] almost
[01:03:42] two
[01:03:42] seasons
[01:03:43] he's
[01:03:44] being
[01:03:44] beaten
[01:03:44] by
[01:03:44] cars
[01:03:45] that
[01:03:45] are
[01:03:45] far
[01:03:45] slower
[01:03:45] than
[01:03:45] him
[01:03:45] is
[01:03:46] barely
[01:03:46] getting
[01:03:46] into
[01:03:47] Q3
[01:03:47] and
[01:03:48] then
[01:03:48] comes
[01:03:48] the
[01:03:48] Mexican
[01:03:49] GP
[01:03:49] one
[01:03:50] last
[01:03:50] chance
[01:03:51] one
[01:03:51] last
[01:03:51] hurrah
[01:03:51] to
[01:03:52] turn
[01:03:52] it
[01:03:52] around
[01:03:52] in
[01:03:52] front
[01:03:52] of
[01:03:52] his
[01:03:53] home
[01:03:53] fans
[01:03:53] and
[01:03:53] lacks
[01:03:54] of
[01:03:54] them
[01:03:54] actually
[01:03:54] hundreds
[01:03:55] of
[01:03:55] thousands
[01:04:03] and
[01:04:03] Sergio
[01:04:03] Perez
[01:04:04] drops
[01:04:04] in
[01:04:04] qualifying
[01:04:04] okay
[01:04:05] happens
[01:04:06] right
[01:04:06] which
[01:04:07] means
[01:04:07] a
[01:04:07] hero's
[01:04:07] comeback
[01:04:08] is
[01:04:08] coming
[01:04:08] up
[01:04:08] so
[01:04:09] what
[01:04:09] does
[01:04:09] he
[01:04:09] do
[01:04:09] with
[01:04:10] all
[01:04:10] the
[01:04:11] emotion
[01:04:11] pumping
[01:04:11] up
[01:04:12] he
[01:04:12] puts
[01:04:12] that
[01:04:13] car
[01:04:13] slightly
[01:04:13] over
[01:04:14] the
[01:04:14] yellow
[01:04:14] line
[01:04:14] on
[01:04:14] the
[01:04:15] grid
[01:04:15] makes
[01:04:16] a
[01:04:16] false
[01:04:16] start
[01:04:17] ends
[01:04:17] up
[01:04:17] getting
[01:04:18] 10
[01:04:18] odd
[01:04:18] places
[01:04:18] in
[01:04:19] the
[01:04:19] first
[01:04:19] lap
[01:04:19] I
[01:04:35] no
[01:04:36] it
[01:04:36] was
[01:04:37] a
[01:04:37] good
[01:04:37] start
[01:04:38] that
[01:04:39] is
[01:04:41] unbelievable
[01:04:42] imagine
[01:04:42] being
[01:04:43] that
[01:04:43] much
[01:04:44] in
[01:04:44] your
[01:04:44] own
[01:04:44] head
[01:04:44] which
[01:04:45] is
[01:04:45] a
[01:04:45] little
[01:04:45] sad
[01:04:46] you
[01:04:46] need
[01:04:46] to
[01:04:46] be
[01:04:47] that
[01:04:47] much
[01:04:47] in
[01:04:47] your
[01:04:47] own
[01:04:48] head
[01:04:48] if
[01:04:48] you're
[01:04:48] a
[01:04:48] Formula
[01:04:48] 1
[01:04:49] driver
[01:04:49] I
[01:04:49] love
[01:04:49] that
[01:04:50] that
[01:04:50] ignorance
[01:04:51] no
[01:04:51] it
[01:04:51] was
[01:04:52] a
[01:04:52] good
[01:04:52] start
[01:04:53] no
[01:04:54] and
[01:04:54] the
[01:04:54] contrast
[01:04:55] of
[01:04:55] when
[01:04:56] Lewis
[01:04:56] actually
[01:04:57] jumped
[01:04:57] the
[01:04:57] start
[01:04:57] in
[01:04:57] Abu
[01:04:58] Dhabi
[01:04:58] it
[01:04:58] was
[01:04:58] almost
[01:04:59] instantaneous
[01:04:59] where
[01:05:00] he
[01:05:00] said
[01:05:00] sorry
[01:05:01] guys
[01:05:01] I
[01:05:07] why
[01:05:11] give
[01:05:14] it
[01:05:14] away
[01:05:15] if
[01:05:15] it's
[01:05:16] not
[01:05:16] a
[01:05:16] false
[01:05:16] start
[01:05:16] he
[01:05:16] won't
[01:05:17] tell
[01:05:17] you
[01:05:18] I
[01:05:20] think
[01:05:20] the
[01:05:21] other
[01:05:21] quote
[01:05:21] of
[01:05:21] the
[01:05:21] year
[01:05:21] is
[01:05:22] Lando
[01:05:23] did
[01:05:23] not
[01:05:23] lift
[01:05:23] under
[01:05:24] yellows
[01:05:25] you
[01:05:25] know
[01:05:25] what
[01:05:26] the
[01:05:35] you
[01:05:35] want
[01:05:44] what
[01:05:49] a
[01:06:00] welcome
[01:06:02] for
[01:06:03] the
[01:06:03] kid
[01:06:03] right
[01:06:03] it
[01:06:04] makes
[01:06:04] no
[01:06:04] difference
[01:06:05] who you are.
[01:06:06] It could be anyone.
[01:06:08] And the winner is...
[01:06:11] Somal, you have a winner?
[01:06:13] Oh, yeah.
[01:06:14] The winner is
[01:06:15] the quote that sums up
[01:06:17] the 2024 season
[01:06:18] in a parody way.
[01:06:20] It's not talent.
[01:06:21] It's luck.
[01:06:24] Statement of the year.
[01:06:25] A statement so good
[01:06:26] that Lando Norris had to retract it.
[01:06:28] But since it's the parody awards
[01:06:29] and the winner is never
[01:06:30] who you think it is,
[01:06:31] I think this has to be
[01:06:32] the statement of the year.
[01:06:34] It's not talent.
[01:06:35] It's luck.
[01:06:36] That actually came at the very end
[01:06:38] of the season
[01:06:38] and after a very, what,
[01:06:40] three-hour, almost three-hour race
[01:06:41] in Brazil when it was
[01:06:43] a lot of talent required.
[01:06:44] But I actually would go
[01:06:46] for a different one.
[01:06:47] And this, we have to go back,
[01:06:48] way back to where was this?
[01:06:49] January?
[01:06:50] January.
[01:06:50] January this year,
[01:06:52] even before the F1 season started,
[01:06:53] Kush Maini actually announcing
[01:06:55] on our podcast,
[01:06:57] on our meetup,
[01:06:58] live in front of people
[01:06:59] for the very first time
[01:07:00] that he's going to be driving
[01:07:01] a Formula 1 car this season.
[01:07:04] That takes it for me.
[01:07:05] And he did so four times.
[01:07:07] Yeah.
[01:07:07] And I know that his tests
[01:07:09] were fantastic.
[01:07:10] So that's your winner.
[01:07:11] I'm going to pick
[01:07:12] an alternate winner,
[01:07:13] although Kush is soft heart.
[01:07:15] I mean, you know,
[01:07:15] soft corner for me.
[01:07:17] We should have an episode
[01:07:18] of you recounting those tests
[01:07:21] with Kush, generally.
[01:07:22] Like, I'm very curious
[01:07:23] to know what the whole
[01:07:24] run plan is like,
[01:07:25] what the whole program is like,
[01:07:26] even though you shared
[01:07:27] a lot of that content
[01:07:28] on social media.
[01:07:29] Let's do that.
[01:07:30] My winner is when
[01:07:32] Flavio Briatore said,
[01:07:33] I'm a genius in Formula 1.
[01:07:35] I agree.
[01:07:36] Can't deny that.
[01:07:37] I agree.
[01:07:38] I just don't accept
[01:07:39] with his methods.
[01:07:40] That's the only thing.
[01:07:41] I'm a genius in Formula 1.
[01:07:43] Regardless.
[01:07:44] He is a genius in Formula 1.
[01:07:46] And it really doesn't matter
[01:07:48] who's driving for Alpine in 25.
[01:07:50] Oh my God.
[01:07:52] I miss Flavio.
[01:07:53] I missed him.
[01:07:54] This is incredible.
[01:07:55] But okay.
[01:07:56] We are now moving up to
[01:07:58] our all,
[01:07:58] I mean,
[01:07:59] all of our favorite category.
[01:08:01] Oh, no, let me say that again.
[01:08:01] Oh, my favorite category.
[01:08:02] We're now moving up to
[01:08:03] our favorite category
[01:08:04] because we are nerds
[01:08:05] and nerds love stats.
[01:08:07] Absolutely.
[01:08:08] And we have a stats guru
[01:08:09] in our midst.
[01:08:10] So, stats guru,
[01:08:11] tell us,
[01:08:11] what is the stat of the year?
[01:08:13] Oh, there's lots,
[01:08:14] lots of stats of the year.
[01:08:15] But if you go from the very
[01:08:17] early on,
[01:08:17] we'll talk about
[01:08:18] Oliver Beaman
[01:08:19] becoming the youngest driver
[01:08:20] to debut
[01:08:22] for Ferrari
[01:08:22] at the age of 18 years.
[01:08:24] He's actually the youngest.
[01:08:26] He scored the most points
[01:08:28] as a teenager.
[01:08:28] I think he scored six points
[01:08:30] that race.
[01:08:30] That's the most
[01:08:31] by any teenager
[01:08:32] in F1 history.
[01:08:34] But we also have to talk
[01:08:35] about Lando Norris
[01:08:37] briefly holding the record
[01:08:38] for the most podiums
[01:08:40] without a race win.
[01:08:41] He actually went past
[01:08:42] Nick Heidfeld.
[01:08:44] But he did go on
[01:08:45] to win a race.
[01:08:46] So, he's actually
[01:08:46] removed his name
[01:08:48] from that list.
[01:08:48] But he had that briefly
[01:08:50] against his name as well.
[01:08:52] But Max Verstappen
[01:08:53] winning from
[01:08:55] is it nine?
[01:08:56] Is it ten?
[01:08:57] I'm forgetting.
[01:08:58] Nine, I think.
[01:08:59] Nine different
[01:09:00] grid positions.
[01:09:01] P17 to P1 in Brazil.
[01:09:03] And now he takes
[01:09:04] the outright record.
[01:09:05] What else do we have?
[01:09:07] Lewis Hamilton.
[01:09:08] Oh, this is the one
[01:09:09] that actually put me
[01:09:10] in the limelight
[01:09:11] a couple of years ago.
[01:09:12] So, a couple of years ago,
[01:09:14] I came up with a stat
[01:09:15] that no driver
[01:09:16] has ever won a race
[01:09:17] after starting
[01:09:18] their 300th
[01:09:19] Grand Prix appearance.
[01:09:21] And I think it was
[01:09:22] very befitting
[01:09:23] that Lewis Hamilton
[01:09:24] won it
[01:09:25] in Great Britain.
[01:09:27] Wasn't it?
[01:09:28] What a drive was that?
[01:09:29] A great drive.
[01:09:29] A great drive
[01:09:30] in Great Britain.
[01:09:31] And it just showed you
[01:09:32] that Lewis is the kind
[01:09:34] of driver
[01:09:34] who has a ninth gear.
[01:09:36] Some extra room
[01:09:37] of excellence
[01:09:38] when the conditions
[01:09:39] get tough.
[01:09:39] But what a race that was.
[01:09:40] Conditions get tough
[01:09:41] and also it's also
[01:09:42] home ground.
[01:09:42] So, there's always
[01:09:43] what a tenth
[01:09:45] or half a second
[01:09:46] that you can gain
[01:09:47] when you are
[01:09:47] in front of your
[01:09:48] home ground.
[01:09:49] So, that stat
[01:09:51] was absolutely smashed
[01:09:52] by Lewis earlier
[01:09:53] this year.
[01:09:54] But I also love
[01:09:55] the fact that
[01:09:56] Max Verstappen
[01:09:57] does not have
[01:09:58] a great record
[01:09:59] around Singapore
[01:10:00] and Antonio Giovinazzi,
[01:10:02] the former
[01:10:03] Alfa Romeo,
[01:10:04] former Sauber driver
[01:10:05] has led more laps
[01:10:06] around Singapore
[01:10:07] than Max Verstappen
[01:10:08] till date.
[01:10:09] And he's got
[01:10:10] a Lama win
[01:10:10] before Max Verstappen.
[01:10:12] Yeah.
[01:10:13] But who's
[01:10:15] your winner?
[01:10:16] I remember
[01:10:17] this one stat
[01:10:18] of yours
[01:10:18] which basically
[01:10:19] was,
[01:10:20] I think we're
[01:10:21] going to break
[01:10:22] that stat
[01:10:22] so it's not
[01:10:23] going to happen
[01:10:23] that
[01:10:23] Checo Perez
[01:10:25] and Max Verstappen
[01:10:26] were to become
[01:10:27] Formula One's
[01:10:28] longest partnership
[01:10:31] if Checo Perez
[01:10:32] actually went on
[01:10:33] to end his contract
[01:10:35] till 2026.
[01:10:37] But he has a contract
[01:10:38] Kunal.
[01:10:39] He has a contract.
[01:10:40] He has a contract.
[01:10:40] But now he's
[01:10:41] going to exchange
[01:10:41] money for that contract.
[01:10:43] Lots of money
[01:10:44] and an ambassadaral role
[01:10:45] and whatever else
[01:10:46] that comes with it.
[01:10:47] And I think it's
[01:10:48] going to be
[01:10:49] 138 races
[01:10:49] that they would
[01:10:50] have been partners
[01:10:51] in Formula One.
[01:10:52] Longest standing
[01:10:53] partnership.
[01:10:54] Actually,
[01:10:55] I'm glad he's
[01:10:55] saving himself
[01:10:56] that humiliation.
[01:10:58] And if he takes
[01:10:58] up the Cadillac
[01:10:59] seat,
[01:11:00] even better
[01:11:01] when it comes
[01:11:01] in 26.
[01:11:02] I don't think
[01:11:03] he's been washed
[01:11:03] off.
[01:11:04] I just think
[01:11:05] he's better off
[01:11:06] in a midfield car
[01:11:07] than a top car.
[01:11:08] Do you have
[01:11:08] a favorite stat?
[01:11:10] And you know,
[01:11:10] I know it's a
[01:11:11] favorite stat of the
[01:11:12] year,
[01:11:12] but it's
[01:11:13] inadvertently
[01:11:14] favorite F1
[01:11:15] stat,
[01:11:15] screw
[01:11:15] stat of the
[01:11:16] year.
[01:11:16] Yeah,
[01:11:16] it's the
[01:11:17] four-quarter
[01:11:17] division,
[01:11:18] actually.
[01:11:18] The quarterly
[01:11:19] breakdown of
[01:11:20] numbers about
[01:11:21] how each team
[01:11:22] fared in each
[01:11:23] quarter.
[01:11:23] And it's the
[01:11:24] second quarter
[01:11:25] that gives
[01:11:25] it all away.
[01:11:26] Ferrari not
[01:11:27] getting anything
[01:11:28] there and that
[01:11:28] catastrophic upgrade.
[01:11:30] That to me
[01:11:30] sums up F1 in
[01:11:31] 2024 and also
[01:11:32] Alpine's outlying
[01:11:33] performance over
[01:11:34] there and how
[01:11:35] Haas consistently
[01:11:36] built everything
[01:11:37] up over three
[01:11:38] quarters only for
[01:11:39] Alpine to just
[01:11:40] take a gigantic
[01:11:41] leak all over
[01:11:42] it with one race.
[01:11:43] But what a
[01:11:45] breakdown that
[01:11:45] was and nobody's
[01:11:46] done that.
[01:11:46] So congratulations
[01:11:47] on that.
[01:11:48] Thank you.
[01:11:48] But my favorite
[01:11:49] stat has to be
[01:11:50] the fact that
[01:11:51] Max Verstappen
[01:11:51] has scored as
[01:11:53] many points in
[01:11:53] 2024 as
[01:11:55] Sergio Perez has
[01:11:56] done in the
[01:11:57] last two seasons
[01:11:58] combined exactly
[01:11:59] the same number
[01:12:01] 437 on both
[01:12:02] sides.
[01:12:04] And that sums
[01:12:05] up Sergio Perez's
[01:12:06] time in the last
[01:12:07] two years.
[01:12:08] It's also a fun
[01:12:09] one, right?
[01:12:09] That Lewis
[01:12:10] Hamilton overtook
[01:12:11] George Russell for
[01:12:12] the most points
[01:12:13] scored at
[01:12:13] Mercedes in
[01:12:14] their stint
[01:12:14] together on
[01:12:15] the last lap
[01:12:16] of his last
[01:12:16] race with
[01:12:17] Mercedes.
[01:12:17] So that's also
[01:12:18] a very, very
[01:12:19] cool ending.
[01:12:20] But my
[01:12:23] favorite moment
[01:12:24] of the year or
[01:12:25] the big winner
[01:12:26] of the year which
[01:12:26] is the next
[01:12:27] category and it's
[01:12:28] linked to the
[01:12:29] stat and I'll
[01:12:30] tell you why.
[01:12:30] Is that stat
[01:12:32] Sundaram put out
[01:12:33] on the, what's
[01:12:35] it, the
[01:12:35] coincidences from
[01:12:36] 2012?
[01:12:37] Yeah.
[01:12:38] Brazil Grand
[01:12:39] Prix?
[01:12:39] Yeah.
[01:12:40] The last race
[01:12:40] of the season.
[01:12:41] The last race
[01:12:42] for Lewis
[01:12:43] Hamilton at
[01:12:43] McLaren and
[01:12:44] his last race
[01:12:45] at Mercedes,
[01:12:46] the different
[01:12:46] parallels between
[01:12:47] the both of
[01:12:47] them.
[01:12:48] And there's a
[01:12:48] reason why for
[01:12:49] me that's a
[01:12:50] big, big
[01:12:51] nominee.
[01:12:51] We can't give
[01:12:52] you the price
[01:12:52] because you're
[01:12:53] hosting it with
[01:12:53] us.
[01:12:54] No, we can
[01:12:54] give it to
[01:12:54] you.
[01:12:55] We can hand
[01:12:56] you this small
[01:12:57] little umbrella.
[01:12:57] It probably
[01:12:58] might break up
[01:12:59] all of our
[01:12:59] setup that we've
[01:13:00] got here, but
[01:13:01] for you.
[01:13:02] Congratulations.
[01:13:02] Thank you.
[01:13:03] But that's
[01:13:04] not my favorite
[01:13:05] start of the
[01:13:06] year actually.
[01:13:06] No, no, that's
[01:13:06] my favorite.
[01:13:08] I think my
[01:13:09] favorite big
[01:13:10] winner of the
[01:13:11] year or winner
[01:13:11] of the year was
[01:13:12] for you.
[01:13:13] Yeah.
[01:13:14] Because that
[01:13:15] got you global
[01:13:16] recognition.
[01:13:17] Formula One
[01:13:18] shared it on
[01:13:19] their official
[01:13:19] handles.
[01:13:20] Everyone stole
[01:13:21] it and people
[01:13:22] who were actually
[01:13:22] stealing it then
[01:13:23] finally said,
[01:13:24] guess what?
[01:13:24] It's not your
[01:13:25] stat.
[01:13:25] It's F1
[01:13:26] stats guru
[01:13:26] stats.
[01:13:27] Look at this
[01:13:27] guy smiling.
[01:13:28] You know, the
[01:13:29] reason I'm happy
[01:13:30] around that, so
[01:13:30] at least that's
[01:13:31] a winner for me
[01:13:32] because a couple
[01:13:33] of years ago I
[01:13:33] would see a lot
[01:13:34] of big outlets
[01:13:35] taking my stat
[01:13:36] and just running
[01:13:36] it without giving
[01:13:37] me any credit
[01:13:38] and I would be
[01:13:38] the person in
[01:13:40] their DMs
[01:13:40] constantly telling
[01:13:41] them this is
[01:13:42] my stat.
[01:13:42] The least you
[01:13:43] could do is give
[01:13:43] me a credit.
[01:13:44] But thankfully
[01:13:45] I have an
[01:13:45] audience that
[01:13:46] does the work
[01:13:46] for me this
[01:13:47] time.
[01:13:47] So every single
[01:13:48] person who was
[01:13:48] following me or
[01:13:49] not following me
[01:13:50] went back to
[01:13:51] those outlets and
[01:13:52] said this is
[01:13:52] F1 stats guru
[01:13:53] stat.
[01:13:53] You should be
[01:13:54] crediting him.
[01:13:55] But I'm glad
[01:13:55] F1 eventually
[01:13:56] did it.
[01:13:57] F1 at least
[01:13:57] did it and did
[01:13:58] it the right way.
[01:13:59] So yeah, that's
[01:13:59] my winner of the
[01:14:00] year.
[01:14:02] Can't top that
[01:14:02] now, can you?
[01:14:03] Yeah.
[01:14:03] No.
[01:14:05] But nominees
[01:14:06] for the biggest
[01:14:07] winner of the
[01:14:07] year, Samuel.
[01:14:08] In fact, I'd
[01:14:09] say it's a
[01:14:10] question for you
[01:14:10] guys.
[01:14:11] Who walks out
[01:14:11] of 2024 feeling
[01:14:13] like the biggest
[01:14:14] winner?
[01:14:15] I genuinely
[01:14:16] think nobody.
[01:14:17] What are our
[01:14:18] options?
[01:14:19] McLaren,
[01:14:20] Constructors World
[01:14:20] Champions for the
[01:14:21] first time in
[01:14:22] 26 years.
[01:14:22] But will they be
[01:14:23] satisfied?
[01:14:24] I think they
[01:14:25] still have work
[01:14:26] to do with their
[01:14:26] drivers.
[01:14:27] They don't
[01:14:27] have two number
[01:14:28] ones and their
[01:14:29] team principal
[01:14:30] himself said it.
[01:14:31] If Max was in
[01:14:32] this car, he
[01:14:33] would have long
[01:14:33] been a world
[01:14:34] champion.
[01:14:34] So it's
[01:14:35] definitely not
[01:14:36] them being the
[01:14:36] big winner.
[01:14:37] Is it
[01:14:38] Mercedes?
[01:14:39] No.
[01:14:39] They lose
[01:14:40] Lewis.
[01:14:40] They have no
[01:14:41] certainty over
[01:14:41] their car package
[01:14:42] next year.
[01:14:43] And they get
[01:14:44] Kimi, who is an
[01:14:45] incredible talent,
[01:14:45] but it's still
[01:14:46] unproven, right?
[01:14:46] How he's going to
[01:14:47] perform.
[01:14:48] Ferrari.
[01:14:48] They get Lewis,
[01:14:50] but do they have
[01:14:50] the car for next
[01:14:51] year?
[01:14:51] And they've lost a
[01:14:52] very valuable driver
[01:14:53] pairing.
[01:14:53] And we don't know
[01:14:54] if Lewis and
[01:14:55] Charles are
[01:14:56] actually going to
[01:14:56] work or if
[01:14:57] Lewis will be
[01:14:57] accepted or if he
[01:14:59] will fit into
[01:14:59] Ferrari because
[01:15:01] Prost hasn't
[01:15:02] fit in well
[01:15:03] there.
[01:15:03] Seb wasn't
[01:15:04] 100% comfortable.
[01:15:05] Kimi just
[01:15:05] didn't care so
[01:15:06] he got by.
[01:15:07] But these are
[01:15:07] greats of the
[01:15:08] sport.
[01:15:08] And even Nigel
[01:15:09] Mansell for that
[01:15:10] matter, all of
[01:15:10] them struggled at
[01:15:11] Ferrari.
[01:15:12] So the team has
[01:15:13] evolved with
[01:15:13] management over the
[01:15:14] years, but it's
[01:15:14] still different.
[01:15:15] It's still tough
[01:15:16] to settle in.
[01:15:17] So I'm not sure
[01:15:17] if Ferrari are the
[01:15:18] biggest winners.
[01:15:19] Red Bull are the
[01:15:20] biggest losers.
[01:15:21] They won the
[01:15:21] Drivers World
[01:15:22] Championship, but
[01:15:23] they have a fall
[01:15:23] from grace.
[01:15:24] P1 to P3,
[01:15:25] losing top management,
[01:15:27] having so much
[01:15:28] turbulence.
[01:15:29] Adrian Newey is
[01:15:29] gone as well.
[01:15:30] Who else can
[01:15:31] actually call
[01:15:32] themselves a big
[01:15:32] winner?
[01:15:33] Only Alpine, I
[01:15:34] think, for going
[01:15:35] from P9 to P6, but
[01:15:36] they know there's
[01:15:36] work to be done.
[01:15:37] And it doesn't
[01:15:38] matter who's in
[01:15:38] the second car.
[01:15:39] Actually, now that
[01:15:39] you're doing this,
[01:15:40] I think pretty much
[01:15:41] every team has a
[01:15:42] winning moment
[01:15:43] because Williams,
[01:15:45] they got Carlos
[01:15:45] Sainz, they will
[01:15:46] bring all that
[01:15:47] money.
[01:15:47] He's already got
[01:15:48] Santander, lots more
[01:15:49] CapEx investment
[01:15:50] allowed.
[01:15:51] Haas with the
[01:15:52] Toyota partnership,
[01:15:54] another winner,
[01:15:54] Formula One, hence
[01:15:55] a winner as well.
[01:15:56] And the points they
[01:15:57] scored as well.
[01:15:57] Yeah.
[01:15:58] Then Aston Martin,
[01:15:59] they've got Newey and
[01:16:00] Honda, of course.
[01:16:02] And hence, Fernando
[01:16:03] Alonso is a big
[01:16:04] winner out here.
[01:16:05] I would say even,
[01:16:07] okay, I'm going to
[01:16:07] put a spin.
[01:16:08] All 20 drivers also
[01:16:11] were winners.
[01:16:12] And I'll tell you
[01:16:13] why.
[01:16:14] They went through a
[01:16:15] race where there was
[01:16:18] marijuana in the air,
[01:16:20] but they did not get
[01:16:21] dope tested.
[01:16:22] Where was that?
[01:16:23] Las Vegas.
[01:16:25] Seriously?
[01:16:26] Was it Colo Pinto
[01:16:27] who said that?
[01:16:28] Colo Pinto, Max
[01:16:29] Verstappen, Checo
[01:16:31] Perez.
[01:16:32] Imagine if they were
[01:16:33] actually dope tested
[01:16:34] and all 20 drivers
[01:16:35] tested positive.
[01:16:36] Let's just assume
[01:16:37] that's true.
[01:16:38] We would have
[01:16:38] needed 20 test and
[01:16:40] reserve drivers.
[01:16:42] And they could feel
[01:16:43] that every time they
[01:16:44] were on track.
[01:16:45] So technically, if
[01:16:46] there are five
[01:16:46] sessions, you need
[01:16:47] 100 drivers to go
[01:16:48] through that weekend
[01:16:49] because every driver
[01:16:50] would have failed
[01:16:51] the test.
[01:16:52] But the winner is...
[01:16:56] And that's a good
[01:16:57] segue as well because
[01:16:58] every team had a
[01:17:00] winning moment,
[01:17:01] which is why I feel
[01:17:02] F1 is the ultimate
[01:17:03] winner this year.
[01:17:04] Don't you think?
[01:17:05] Absolutely.
[01:17:06] I agree.
[01:17:06] Best season ever.
[01:17:07] Every single fan is
[01:17:09] the biggest winner
[01:17:11] of 2024.
[01:17:12] I agree.
[01:17:12] No one's left
[01:17:13] disappointed.
[01:17:14] Even Sauber for that
[01:17:15] matter because they
[01:17:16] have a very good
[01:17:16] driver lineup.
[01:17:17] At least that thing
[01:17:19] that part of it is
[01:17:20] sorted for them.
[01:17:20] They have a Nico
[01:17:21] Hülkenberg, which I
[01:17:22] said was one of the
[01:17:23] highlights of this
[01:17:24] season.
[01:17:24] And they have a very
[01:17:24] exciting driver in a
[01:17:26] Gabriel Botoletto.
[01:17:27] So something for every
[01:17:28] single fan base out
[01:17:29] there.
[01:17:30] And they also have
[01:17:31] more fastest pitch
[01:17:31] stops than any of
[01:17:32] their midfield rivals.
[01:17:34] Even though they had
[01:17:35] 30 second pitch stops
[01:17:35] at the start of the
[01:17:36] year.
[01:17:36] So that has to be
[01:17:37] credited.
[01:17:38] And even all our
[01:17:39] listeners, our fans,
[01:17:40] our followers, big
[01:17:41] winners thanks to...
[01:17:43] You know, we are big
[01:17:43] winners thanks to
[01:17:44] them.
[01:17:44] We won this year.
[01:17:46] Yeah.
[01:17:46] Best sports podcast
[01:17:48] in India.
[01:17:49] Several nominations
[01:17:50] for best sports
[01:17:51] podcast for
[01:17:52] podcasting today and
[01:17:54] several other, you
[01:17:55] know, outlets that
[01:17:56] pool in all the best
[01:17:58] podcasts in the world.
[01:17:59] So thank you for your
[01:18:00] patronage.
[01:18:00] I think that's key.
[01:18:01] All the brands we
[01:18:02] worked with as well.
[01:18:03] I should have brought
[01:18:04] that award, man.
[01:18:05] It's at my place.
[01:18:06] Yeah.
[01:18:07] Okay.
[01:18:08] That would have been it.
[01:18:09] But we also won.
[01:18:10] So now we can
[01:18:10] officially see that we
[01:18:11] have a Formula One
[01:18:12] journalist.
[01:18:13] We have a Formula One
[01:18:14] commentator and a
[01:18:15] Formula One statistician
[01:18:16] as well.
[01:18:16] So we can add Formula One
[01:18:18] in the prefix officially
[01:18:19] now as well.
[01:18:20] We can do that.
[01:18:21] Yeah.
[01:18:21] So lots of wins for all
[01:18:24] of us individually, all
[01:18:25] of us together.
[01:18:27] Fabulous.
[01:18:27] Thank you very much.
[01:18:28] Both you gentlemen.
[01:18:29] This is not the end of
[01:18:30] the show.
[01:18:30] This is still some more
[01:18:31] categories left, but just
[01:18:32] a grateful thank you.
[01:18:33] But a word on all the
[01:18:35] brands we've worked with
[01:18:36] this year, right?
[01:18:37] Because they've been so
[01:18:37] supportive on our journey.
[01:18:39] And again, openly, if you
[01:18:41] like what you're doing and
[01:18:42] if you feel there's an
[01:18:43] association that we can
[01:18:45] work out together, reach
[01:18:45] out, man.
[01:18:46] It'll be cool to do some
[01:18:47] fun stuff.
[01:18:47] And we're going to be
[01:18:48] traveling around the
[01:18:49] country next year, bringing
[01:18:50] in so many fun live
[01:18:51] events.
[01:18:51] That will be really
[01:18:52] interesting.
[01:18:53] But a big thank you to
[01:18:54] Heineken, to eBay, to
[01:18:57] Red Bull this year as
[01:18:58] well.
[01:18:58] They've been supportive
[01:18:59] on that.
[01:18:59] Social.
[01:19:00] Fan code.
[01:19:01] Fan code.
[01:19:02] A lot of the drinks.
[01:19:04] Dave, should we say
[01:19:05] thank you to them?
[01:19:06] Thank you.
[01:19:06] Nonetheless, that is also
[01:19:08] a very, very good
[01:19:09] experience.
[01:19:10] But yeah, lots of
[01:19:10] interesting brands.
[01:19:12] Gridmaster as well, who've
[01:19:13] also been around.
[01:19:14] So yeah, lots of people
[01:19:15] to say thank you to
[01:19:16] this year.
[01:19:16] And a big thanks to
[01:19:17] the paddock.
[01:19:18] A lot of drivers, a
[01:19:18] lot of teams for
[01:19:19] trusting our work.
[01:19:22] We can't obviously name
[01:19:23] everyone.
[01:19:23] We shouldn't.
[01:19:25] But there's this, a lot
[01:19:26] of that we've built is
[01:19:27] because people trust
[01:19:28] our work, our ethics,
[01:19:30] our discipline, our
[01:19:30] content.
[01:19:31] And they know we're
[01:19:32] not clickbaity, not
[01:19:34] controversial.
[01:19:34] We say it as it is, but
[01:19:36] only if it's a fact.
[01:19:38] And that should now
[01:19:40] lead us to second
[01:19:42] last category.
[01:19:43] The biggest loser of
[01:19:45] the year because we've
[01:19:45] done biggest winner.
[01:19:47] Okay, I'm going to break
[01:19:48] your heart, Sundaram.
[01:19:49] I'm going to smash it
[01:19:51] into a thousand pieces.
[01:19:51] I know what's coming.
[01:19:52] With no mercy
[01:19:54] whatsoever.
[01:19:55] I don't even have to
[01:19:56] say anything.
[01:19:57] You tell me.
[01:19:59] Who is the biggest
[01:20:00] fall of grace?
[01:20:02] Because they were on
[01:20:03] the podium nine times
[01:20:04] last year, all of which
[01:20:05] was obviously Fernando.
[01:20:07] But like Kunal said,
[01:20:08] like Kunal said,
[01:20:09] Fernando going from
[01:20:10] this is the best car
[01:20:11] I've driven in a while,
[01:20:12] this feels amazing,
[01:20:14] to coming to
[01:20:16] Brazil saying this
[01:20:17] is the worst car
[01:20:17] that I've driven.
[01:20:18] So that fall from
[01:20:20] grace is terrible.
[01:20:23] And the sort of
[01:20:24] decline they had
[01:20:24] throughout the four
[01:20:25] quarters just goes to
[01:20:27] show that how they've
[01:20:27] been struggling with
[01:20:28] upgrades and their car
[01:20:29] in general, which is
[01:20:30] also what makes me a
[01:20:31] little worried about
[01:20:32] next year.
[01:20:33] If they get their
[01:20:34] upgrades in place,
[01:20:36] they can be a
[01:20:37] competitive team.
[01:20:38] But otherwise,
[01:20:39] yeah, they're going to
[01:20:40] be going back very
[01:20:41] disappointed.
[01:20:41] But weren't they
[01:20:42] using Suzuka spec
[01:20:43] upgrades in Las Vegas
[01:20:45] and Qatar?
[01:20:46] In Brazil as well,
[01:20:47] if I'm not wrong.
[01:20:48] That just goes to
[01:20:49] highlight how bad
[01:20:50] their upgrades have
[01:20:51] been, especially
[01:20:52] in the mid-season.
[01:20:53] Quote of the year,
[01:20:54] Lance Stroll saying
[01:20:55] that none of the
[01:20:57] upgrades we brought
[01:20:58] in the last 12 months
[01:20:58] have worked on our
[01:21:00] car.
[01:21:00] Captain Obvious.
[01:21:01] Thank you.
[01:21:02] That's probably why
[01:21:02] we had, I think it
[01:21:04] was Dan Fallows
[01:21:05] who was asked to
[01:21:07] leave or he left
[01:21:08] by himself.
[01:21:09] It's a bad year
[01:21:09] to be a Dan,
[01:21:10] huh?
[01:21:10] Yeah.
[01:21:10] And Mike Rack
[01:21:12] said if we don't
[01:21:13] see performance,
[01:21:14] they leave the
[01:21:15] team.
[01:21:15] I don't know if
[01:21:16] that applies for
[01:21:16] drivers, but Mike
[01:21:18] Rack said that.
[01:21:19] We had every
[01:21:20] single team almost
[01:21:21] in the biggest
[01:21:22] winner of the
[01:21:23] year.
[01:21:23] I would say
[01:21:24] every single
[01:21:25] team is also
[01:21:26] nominated for the
[01:21:27] biggest loser of
[01:21:28] the year because
[01:21:28] they have let,
[01:21:30] Formula One
[01:21:31] has let
[01:21:31] Andretti in,
[01:21:33] which means that
[01:21:34] the cake will
[01:21:35] now be split into
[01:21:35] 11 pieces from
[01:21:37] 2026.
[01:21:39] There will be a
[01:21:39] dilution,
[01:21:40] fee, which is
[01:21:41] a one-time
[01:21:41] fee for loss
[01:21:42] of earnings,
[01:21:43] revenue, etc.
[01:21:44] But 11 pieces.
[01:21:47] And does the
[01:21:49] new piece actually
[01:21:50] make the cake
[01:21:50] bigger?
[01:21:51] Is a question we
[01:21:52] will all work
[01:21:54] towards answering.
[01:21:55] And there's no
[01:21:56] real way to say
[01:21:57] this apart from
[01:21:57] let's just wait
[01:21:58] and see, right?
[01:21:59] Because how do
[01:22:00] you quantify the
[01:22:01] financial impact of
[01:22:02] a brand like GM
[01:22:04] coming into Formula
[01:22:04] One?
[01:22:05] You can, but
[01:22:06] does it add in as
[01:22:07] much as it
[01:22:08] subtracts from all
[01:22:09] the teams?
[01:22:09] We shall wait
[01:22:10] and find out.
[01:22:11] They could
[01:22:11] well end up
[01:22:12] being the
[01:22:12] biggest loser.
[01:22:13] And I feel
[01:22:13] now that one
[01:22:14] is in, it
[01:22:15] could open the
[01:22:15] floodgates for
[01:22:16] more.
[01:22:17] So we'll have
[01:22:17] to wait and
[01:22:18] see.
[01:22:18] I would love
[01:22:20] for other
[01:22:20] teams to use
[01:22:21] the Andretti
[01:22:22] framework.
[01:22:23] Become friends
[01:22:24] with MBS.
[01:22:25] Say we should
[01:22:25] be the 12th
[01:22:26] team.
[01:22:27] Pressurize the
[01:22:27] government in
[01:22:28] that country to
[01:22:29] say we need a
[01:22:30] team, go put
[01:22:31] pressure on
[01:22:32] Formula One.
[01:22:33] Of course the
[01:22:33] pressure is
[01:22:34] different because
[01:22:34] Formula One is
[01:22:35] registered as a
[01:22:36] company in America.
[01:22:37] So if the
[01:22:37] US Congress puts
[01:22:38] pressure, it's
[01:22:38] more than say
[01:22:39] the Chinese
[01:22:39] Congress or
[01:22:40] the Indian
[01:22:41] Congress.
[01:22:42] Chinese Congress
[01:22:42] won't put
[01:22:42] pressure.
[01:22:43] They will coerce
[01:22:44] you into getting
[01:22:45] a race team.
[01:22:46] Could be.
[01:22:46] That reminds me,
[01:22:48] have you guys
[01:22:48] seen how cryptic
[01:22:49] Joe Guanyo's
[01:22:50] social media has
[01:22:51] been since he's
[01:22:51] left Formula One?
[01:22:53] It is absurd.
[01:22:55] It's like we're
[01:22:56] seeing Chinese
[01:22:59] media coming into
[01:23:00] light in front of
[01:23:00] us, right?
[01:23:01] Because the way
[01:23:02] Chinese media works,
[01:23:03] and I'm sure all
[01:23:04] of you must have
[01:23:04] read so many
[01:23:05] stories, they
[01:23:06] don't tell you
[01:23:06] the truth.
[01:23:07] They tell you
[01:23:08] what they want
[01:23:09] you to know.
[01:23:10] That's why it's
[01:23:10] Chinese media.
[01:23:11] Exactly.
[01:23:12] And so Joe Guanyo's
[01:23:13] messages, posts,
[01:23:14] they never really
[01:23:15] say, I am
[01:23:16] leaving Formula One.
[01:23:17] It always is,
[01:23:19] the messaging
[01:23:19] always is, my
[01:23:20] contract with
[01:23:21] Sauber has come
[01:23:21] to an end.
[01:23:23] Isn't that what
[01:23:24] Sergio has been
[01:23:24] saying as well?
[01:23:25] I still have a
[01:23:26] contract till
[01:23:27] 2026.
[01:23:28] But Sergio says
[01:23:29] that, Joe doesn't
[01:23:29] say it, Joe only
[01:23:30] says it on his
[01:23:31] posts.
[01:23:32] And the life
[01:23:33] that he's showing
[01:23:33] now after Formula One
[01:23:35] is him playing
[01:23:35] games, traveling
[01:23:36] the world,
[01:23:36] becoming an
[01:23:37] ambassador.
[01:23:38] But there's no
[01:23:38] emotion of him
[01:23:39] leaving Formula One
[01:23:40] anywhere.
[01:23:41] That's not captured
[01:23:42] at all.
[01:23:42] There was no
[01:23:43] emotion of
[01:23:43] Logan Sargent
[01:23:44] leaving Formula
[01:23:45] One as well.
[01:23:45] There was no
[01:23:46] or him racing in
[01:23:47] Formula One apart
[01:23:48] from only the
[01:23:50] Chinese Grand
[01:23:51] Prix.
[01:23:52] Oh, hey, that is
[01:23:53] a moment of the
[01:23:54] year.
[01:23:54] Joe Guanyo getting
[01:23:55] a round of applause.
[01:23:55] But I find it weird
[01:23:56] how his media has
[01:23:58] been going around.
[01:23:58] But big loser,
[01:23:59] in my opinion,
[01:24:00] also, Yuki
[01:24:01] Tsunoda, if Red
[01:24:03] Bull are genuinely
[01:24:04] going with Liam
[01:24:04] Lawson, I know
[01:24:07] the concerns about
[01:24:08] Yuki are genuine,
[01:24:09] but that just
[01:24:10] puts water or
[01:24:12] splashes water
[01:24:13] or completely
[01:24:13] destroys whatever
[01:24:15] case Yuki has been
[01:24:16] building for himself
[01:24:17] over the last four
[01:24:17] years.
[01:24:18] Like, theoretically,
[01:24:18] how do you quantify
[01:24:20] if a driver is doing
[01:24:20] well?
[01:24:21] Have they beat all
[01:24:22] their teammates?
[01:24:23] Yes.
[01:24:24] Have they gotten
[01:24:25] some really good
[01:24:25] qualifying results?
[01:24:26] Yes.
[01:24:27] Have they gotten
[01:24:28] that midfield card
[01:24:29] of points and close
[01:24:29] to a podium?
[01:24:30] Yes.
[01:24:31] Have they not
[01:24:33] crashed enough or
[01:24:34] not caused a lot
[01:24:35] of damage for the
[01:24:35] team?
[01:24:36] Yes.
[01:24:36] So why not put him
[01:24:38] up there?
[01:24:39] I know the concern
[01:24:40] is genuine.
[01:24:40] No, no, why not
[01:24:41] test him?
[01:24:42] I agree.
[01:24:42] But like Kunal said,
[01:24:44] these are things
[01:24:44] that you can probably,
[01:24:46] so the reasons that
[01:24:47] you mentioned,
[01:24:48] which are genuine
[01:24:49] at this point of
[01:24:49] time, you might say
[01:24:50] temperament.
[01:24:51] Those are things
[01:24:52] that can be worked
[01:24:53] around.
[01:24:53] Ultimately, you want
[01:24:54] to see if he's a
[01:24:55] fast driver and if
[01:24:56] they've got some
[01:24:57] sort of an indication
[01:24:58] from that from the
[01:24:59] postseason test.
[01:24:59] And I know Yuki
[01:25:00] has been saying all
[01:25:01] the right things.
[01:25:02] He's been saying,
[01:25:02] I can adapt to this
[01:25:04] car.
[01:25:04] This car feels good
[01:25:05] for me because that's
[01:25:06] what they've been
[01:25:06] struggling with, a
[01:25:07] Pierre Gasly, a
[01:25:08] Danny, an Albin and
[01:25:11] a Perez, drivers who
[01:25:12] have not been able to
[01:25:13] adapt to the philosophy
[01:25:14] of the car.
[01:25:15] And Yuki has been
[01:25:15] trying to say that,
[01:25:16] yeah, this works great
[01:25:17] for me.
[01:25:17] But if all those other
[01:25:18] things can be worked
[01:25:19] around, then it's a
[01:25:21] great match.
[01:25:22] And if not, like you
[01:25:23] said, it's going to be
[01:25:24] one of the biggest
[01:25:24] losses this year.
[01:25:26] The other big loss...
[01:25:28] I want to go slightly
[01:25:29] deeper into this.
[01:25:30] Just this one question.
[01:25:32] Do you think mental
[01:25:34] temperament is more
[01:25:35] important than Ropace in
[01:25:36] that second Red Bull
[01:25:36] seat?
[01:25:37] Because in my opinion,
[01:25:39] it is.
[01:25:40] Absolutely.
[01:25:41] I mean...
[01:25:41] It's the hardest,
[01:25:42] hardest job in Formula
[01:25:43] One.
[01:25:43] ...crumpled under
[01:25:45] pressure in that
[01:25:46] seat.
[01:25:47] We saw Albin, we
[01:25:48] saw Gasly, we are
[01:25:49] now seeing, you know,
[01:25:51] I would say,
[01:25:52] the Checo Perez as
[01:25:53] well, it's a lot down
[01:25:54] to how they handle
[01:25:55] themselves mentally.
[01:25:56] But does Lawson have
[01:25:57] the right temperament
[01:25:58] as well?
[01:25:59] I think Helmut would
[01:25:59] like what he sees.
[01:26:00] Like just him beating
[01:26:01] the...
[01:26:01] Because we've seen him
[01:26:02] go up against Perez,
[01:26:04] we've seen him go up
[01:26:05] against Alonso, and
[01:26:07] even having the sort
[01:26:08] of outbursts on the
[01:26:09] radio, and even
[01:26:10] showing a couple of
[01:26:11] things to other
[01:26:11] senior drivers while
[01:26:13] passing them, so
[01:26:14] that there's a little
[01:26:15] bit of a question mark
[01:26:16] on his temperament as
[01:26:17] well, right?
[01:26:17] That's a good point
[01:26:18] actually.
[01:26:19] But, I don't know,
[01:26:20] let's see what
[01:26:22] Helmut Marko.
[01:26:22] There's someone else
[01:26:23] to decide that, it's
[01:26:23] not us.
[01:26:24] We can enjoy.
[01:26:25] But how have you not
[01:26:27] mentioned Carlos
[01:26:28] Sainz?
[01:26:29] Not yet.
[01:26:31] There's also other
[01:26:32] big losers this year.
[01:26:33] He was saying the
[01:26:34] big teams are losers
[01:26:35] for not signing
[01:26:36] Carlos Sainz.
[01:26:37] about Carlos Sainz,
[01:26:38] guys, sorry, we are
[01:26:38] not adding more
[01:26:39] pain.
[01:26:39] Actually, I will put
[01:26:40] his Renault
[01:26:41] teammate in that
[01:26:42] seat.
[01:26:43] I know Haas and
[01:26:44] Hulkenberg didn't
[01:26:45] speak on time and
[01:26:46] Hulkenberg went to
[01:26:48] Audi and suddenly
[01:26:49] surprised everyone.
[01:26:50] But I would say
[01:26:51] Hulkenberg is the
[01:26:52] big loser in this.
[01:26:54] Of course.
[01:26:54] Given how Sauber
[01:26:55] has performed.
[01:26:56] I mean, Valtteri
[01:26:56] Bottas has said
[01:26:57] joining Sauber three
[01:26:58] years ago was a
[01:26:59] mistake.
[01:27:00] Or two years ago,
[01:27:01] whatever.
[01:27:01] But is that the
[01:27:03] reason why Niko
[01:27:03] left?
[01:27:04] Was it because they
[01:27:05] did not initiate
[01:27:05] discussions with him?
[01:27:06] Yes.
[01:27:07] So, apparently by the
[01:27:08] time the discussions
[01:27:09] with Audi were
[01:27:09] happening, there was
[01:27:10] so much further
[01:27:11] down the road that
[01:27:12] Haas had no chance
[01:27:13] to make a move on
[01:27:15] him.
[01:27:15] And the bags were
[01:27:15] bigger.
[01:27:16] The money bags were
[01:27:17] much bigger.
[01:27:18] And I also believe
[01:27:19] Hulkenberg is like
[01:27:20] Audi, a German car
[01:27:22] company entering
[01:27:23] Formula 1 with a
[01:27:24] German driver.
[01:27:25] I'm getting a chance
[01:27:26] to make a move.
[01:27:27] And you know, my
[01:27:27] challenge is the
[01:27:29] driver, the team boss
[01:27:30] who hired Hulkenberg
[01:27:32] is not the team boss
[01:27:33] who's going to race
[01:27:34] him next year.
[01:27:35] That's the catch.
[01:27:35] And that's always
[01:27:36] a problem in Formula 1.
[01:27:38] But it's also a
[01:27:38] case of maybe Hulkenberg
[01:27:40] being given a two
[01:27:41] year contract compared
[01:27:43] to maybe what Haas
[01:27:44] might have been
[01:27:44] offering him.
[01:27:45] Oh, but I mean,
[01:27:46] you know, given what
[01:27:46] Hulkenberg has been
[01:27:47] doing, he could have
[01:27:48] just said his terms
[01:27:49] and he would have
[01:27:50] walked away with it.
[01:27:51] So again, you know,
[01:27:52] we have to remember
[01:27:53] we don't always just
[01:27:55] hear a one year
[01:27:56] contract.
[01:27:57] Yeah.
[01:27:57] Okay.
[01:27:58] There are always
[01:27:59] opportunities that the
[01:28:00] teams also want to
[01:28:02] lock themselves into
[01:28:03] with extensions.
[01:28:04] If you do well by
[01:28:05] race 6, by race 14,
[01:28:07] by race whatever, we
[01:28:08] will unlock certain
[01:28:10] opportunities on you.
[01:28:11] But there is the
[01:28:13] winner.
[01:28:13] I'm going to choose
[01:28:14] the winner.
[01:28:15] Winner for the big
[01:28:15] loser?
[01:28:16] The big winner, I
[01:28:18] think, is Andretti
[01:28:20] stepping down.
[01:28:21] Right.
[01:28:22] Which I think is a
[01:28:23] very gracious thing he's
[01:28:24] done for his team to
[01:28:26] come, be called
[01:28:27] Cadillac Racing, and
[01:28:29] then get the 11th team
[01:28:31] in Formula 1.
[01:28:31] So we are all
[01:28:32] cheering, but it's the
[01:28:34] Andrettis that are
[01:28:35] actually the loser in
[01:28:36] this.
[01:28:36] They've enabled all of
[01:28:37] this, but they will
[01:28:38] not get the chance
[01:28:39] to taste the pie, be
[01:28:42] there in the paddock,
[01:28:43] on the pit wall.
[01:28:44] I'm pretty sure these
[01:28:45] are all those things
[01:28:45] that, yes, we'll call
[01:28:47] it your team, but you
[01:28:48] cannot be seen as
[01:28:49] running the race team
[01:28:50] operations.
[01:28:50] Which, fair enough,
[01:28:52] the way he's bullied
[01:28:53] Formula 1.
[01:28:53] And I think also F1
[01:28:54] loses out in a way
[01:28:56] because if you look at
[01:28:57] all the 10 teams, how
[01:28:58] many of those teams
[01:28:58] have actually come from
[01:28:59] former racers?
[01:29:03] McLaren, Sauber,
[01:29:04] Williams to some extent.
[01:29:05] Sauber for sure.
[01:29:06] Ferrari, well.
[01:29:08] Yeah, I mean, it's
[01:29:10] motor racing, right?
[01:29:11] Ferrari is.
[01:29:11] Yeah, but then seeing
[01:29:12] an Andretti there would
[01:29:13] have been something else.
[01:29:14] Would have been nice.
[01:29:15] Yeah.
[01:29:16] Would have been nice.
[01:29:16] I think seeing Cadillac
[01:29:17] there is actually better.
[01:29:19] Really?
[01:29:20] Yeah, because Cadillac
[01:29:21] has a brand.
[01:29:22] Why Cadillac?
[01:29:23] That's the General
[01:29:24] Motors thing.
[01:29:25] That's the brand they go
[01:29:25] racing with.
[01:29:27] Correct me if I'm wrong,
[01:29:28] and we have lots of
[01:29:28] American listeners.
[01:29:30] Do you buy Cadillac
[01:29:31] for the sports?
[01:29:32] Like, I know Cadillac
[01:29:33] has an amazing
[01:29:33] Le Mans Daytona campaign.
[01:29:35] It's amazing, right?
[01:29:36] That car is beautiful.
[01:29:37] That's a good question.
[01:29:37] And wins.
[01:29:38] But do you buy a Cadillac
[01:29:39] for sportiness?
[01:29:41] I don't know if you do.
[01:29:42] I've never heard of
[01:29:43] someone saying,
[01:29:43] I have $100,000.
[01:29:44] I'll buy a Cadillac
[01:29:46] because I want to go fast.
[01:29:47] I don't know.
[01:29:47] It's weird.
[01:29:48] But the big loser.
[01:29:50] The big loser.
[01:29:50] You have a really fun one.
[01:29:51] Second one.
[01:29:52] Fans.
[01:29:52] Red Bull Racing fans
[01:29:53] are the big losers
[01:29:54] here as well.
[01:29:56] Right?
[01:29:56] They're seeing the team
[01:29:57] implored.
[01:29:58] Literally.
[01:29:59] We've said all the people
[01:30:00] who are leaving,
[01:30:01] there were news of
[01:30:02] Max Verstappen leaving
[01:30:03] at some point.
[01:30:03] They don't really have
[01:30:05] a driver,
[01:30:07] you know,
[01:30:07] they don't have depth
[01:30:08] in the driver rankings,
[01:30:10] driver field,
[01:30:11] or the junior driver program.
[01:30:12] You can take Max's place.
[01:30:15] Max's place, yes.
[01:30:17] Irreplaceable,
[01:30:17] so to say.
[01:30:18] But even worse,
[01:30:19] they put out
[01:30:20] these special livery programs.
[01:30:22] They said,
[01:30:22] come design,
[01:30:23] we'll race it
[01:30:24] in five races of the season.
[01:30:25] And then,
[01:30:25] suddenly Red Bull
[01:30:27] lost performance
[01:30:27] and they said,
[01:30:28] we are going to save
[01:30:28] every ounce of weight
[01:30:30] we can
[01:30:30] to help our performance.
[01:30:32] Cancelled.
[01:30:33] None of the special
[01:30:34] liveries made it there.
[01:30:35] Canned.
[01:30:36] Which takes us
[01:30:37] to the
[01:30:39] moment
[01:30:39] of the year.
[01:30:41] The last category.
[01:30:43] We are at the end
[01:30:44] of it all.
[01:30:45] And there are so many
[01:30:46] fun nominations.
[01:30:47] Let's start with
[01:30:47] the frivolous ones.
[01:30:49] This year,
[01:30:50] Formula 1
[01:30:50] dished out two penalties
[01:30:51] that may never
[01:30:53] get served.
[01:30:54] Ever.
[01:30:55] Ever.
[01:30:56] One of them surely
[01:30:56] is not going to get served.
[01:30:58] That door is closed.
[01:30:59] The other one
[01:31:00] may be in 2026.
[01:31:01] But,
[01:31:02] Robert Schwartzman
[01:31:02] and Valtteri Bottas
[01:31:04] both got grid penalties
[01:31:05] for their next race.
[01:31:07] Which,
[01:31:07] if I look at
[01:31:08] my future clock,
[01:31:10] is probably not going to happen
[01:31:12] for either of them.
[01:31:13] I think it still might
[01:31:14] for Valtteri at some point.
[01:31:15] Cadillac might be
[01:31:16] an interesting option.
[01:31:17] Yeah,
[01:31:18] if he gets a full-time
[01:31:18] seat or if he's going
[01:31:19] to be a reserve driver
[01:31:20] for Mercedes
[01:31:21] maybe next year
[01:31:22] if one of the drivers
[01:31:23] gets ill,
[01:31:24] unfortunately,
[01:31:25] he might have to
[01:31:26] come in with,
[01:31:26] what,
[01:31:26] is it a three
[01:31:27] or five plays?
[01:31:28] Something.
[01:31:29] Something.
[01:31:29] It's not as bad
[01:31:29] as Jenson Button's,
[01:31:31] I don't know,
[01:31:31] 120 plays penalty
[01:31:32] that he used to get
[01:31:33] back in the day.
[01:31:34] He's going to be glad
[01:31:35] he's not going to be
[01:31:36] racing an F1 again.
[01:31:37] But yeah,
[01:31:38] we might never see
[01:31:39] that happen.
[01:31:40] And Robert Schwartzman,
[01:31:41] like,
[01:31:42] I was just here
[01:31:43] to have fun.
[01:31:43] Why did I get up
[01:31:44] and speeding?
[01:31:45] It's weird.
[01:31:46] But that was there.
[01:31:47] A moment for me
[01:31:48] as well to cherish.
[01:31:48] For all of us,
[01:31:49] Bono wearing
[01:31:50] Lewis Hamilton's
[01:31:51] Tommy Hilfiger outfit.
[01:31:52] Firstly,
[01:31:52] I'm surprised it fit.
[01:31:54] And then...
[01:31:55] It did not fit.
[01:31:56] It was oversized.
[01:31:57] It's nice.
[01:31:57] It is good.
[01:31:58] I liked it.
[01:31:59] It's a very sweet moment.
[01:32:01] Max Verstappen,
[01:32:02] lots of moments,
[01:32:03] right?
[01:32:03] With PS3,
[01:32:04] with Norris,
[01:32:06] in the press conference.
[01:32:07] Can I bring out
[01:32:08] one microman?
[01:32:09] His one word
[01:32:10] press conference
[01:32:10] in Singapore,
[01:32:11] then hosting
[01:32:12] his own conference
[01:32:14] in...
[01:32:15] Yeah,
[01:32:16] I think it was...
[01:32:16] He hosted it outside,
[01:32:18] right?
[01:32:18] Of the press,
[01:32:20] official press conference.
[01:32:21] So lots of
[01:32:22] Max Verstappen moments.
[01:32:23] For all you Max fans,
[01:32:25] since we know
[01:32:25] there are tons of you there,
[01:32:28] he had a 20-second
[01:32:29] time penalty
[01:32:30] and one of his moments was
[01:32:31] I should have just gone
[01:32:32] and gotten a drink.
[01:32:33] The engine was anyway off.
[01:32:34] I had enough time.
[01:32:36] In Monaco,
[01:32:37] he said,
[01:32:39] George and I
[01:32:40] are going to go
[01:32:40] for a run post-race
[01:32:41] because
[01:32:43] the race
[01:32:43] was hardly a workout.
[01:32:46] Then there were
[01:32:47] multiple
[01:32:48] eSport accounts
[01:32:49] that he maintains.
[01:32:49] I think that's my favorite
[01:32:50] Max Verstappen moment
[01:32:52] of the year.
[01:32:52] We all do that.
[01:32:53] Well,
[01:32:54] I don't even care
[01:32:55] about eSport.
[01:32:55] But anyway,
[01:32:56] he did a DTM test.
[01:32:58] He was on the sim
[01:32:59] late night racing
[01:33:00] in Hungary
[01:33:01] and suddenly was asked
[01:33:02] not to do something.
[01:33:03] For once,
[01:33:04] somebody stood up to Max
[01:33:05] saying,
[01:33:05] you can't do that.
[01:33:06] And he listened.
[01:33:08] You know,
[01:33:09] I think it was Mercedes
[01:33:10] who chased him
[01:33:11] all year long
[01:33:11] and a rental company
[01:33:13] from where he wanted
[01:33:14] to hire a Mercedes
[01:33:16] amg GT car
[01:33:17] to drive
[01:33:17] told him,
[01:33:18] no,
[01:33:18] you're too young
[01:33:19] to drive that car.
[01:33:20] Are you kidding me?
[01:33:22] Do you know
[01:33:23] who you're speaking to?
[01:33:24] Yeah.
[01:33:25] And then I think
[01:33:25] one of my again favorite
[01:33:26] Max Verstappen's
[01:33:28] moment of the year
[01:33:28] was he and Red Bull Racing
[01:33:32] did a previous car test
[01:33:35] before Austria
[01:33:36] when they suddenly
[01:33:37] lost their performance.
[01:33:38] And Max was just like,
[01:33:39] I want to build a reference
[01:33:40] to what the previous cars
[01:33:41] have done.
[01:33:42] And then Max doing what
[01:33:43] I think I've always done.
[01:33:45] I never remember
[01:33:45] the racing schedule,
[01:33:46] especially if it's
[01:33:47] a sprint weekend.
[01:33:48] And Max forgot
[01:33:49] the race schedule
[01:33:50] at Austria.
[01:33:52] So lots of Max
[01:33:53] Verstappen moments
[01:33:54] that we had
[01:33:56] through the year
[01:33:57] on track
[01:33:58] and off it.
[01:33:59] But there was one
[01:34:00] really crazy one,
[01:34:01] right?
[01:34:01] And that one
[01:34:02] micro moment
[01:34:03] sums up
[01:34:04] Max
[01:34:06] as a driver
[01:34:07] with wheel-to-wheel contact.
[01:34:08] Austria
[01:34:08] when Lando Norris
[01:34:10] almost got past
[01:34:11] and Max got a hint
[01:34:12] that we're not
[01:34:13] going to make it together.
[01:34:14] So that slight
[01:34:15] nudge he made
[01:34:16] to push Lando Norris
[01:34:18] off the track
[01:34:18] into the grass.
[01:34:20] Not many people
[01:34:21] noticed it,
[01:34:22] but he did that.
[01:34:23] And that is,
[01:34:24] to me,
[01:34:24] a Max Verstappen moment.
[01:34:25] That to me is
[01:34:27] the moment of the year
[01:34:29] shared with another one
[01:34:30] because that was
[01:34:31] the first sign
[01:34:32] of the championship
[01:34:33] battle starting.
[01:34:34] If Verstappen has to
[01:34:35] push someone onto
[01:34:36] the grass
[01:34:36] to make sure that
[01:34:37] if my race has gone
[01:34:38] yours should be as well,
[01:34:40] that
[01:34:40] is the start
[01:34:41] of something special.
[01:34:42] We've been there before.
[01:34:43] I'm going to repeat
[01:34:44] what I've said
[01:34:45] at least 15 times
[01:34:46] this year.
[01:34:46] Max hitting that
[01:34:47] bollard in Miami.
[01:34:49] Things have never
[01:34:50] been the same
[01:34:51] after that.
[01:34:52] Moment of the year.
[01:34:53] But there's also
[01:34:53] Valtteri Bottas.
[01:34:54] I think,
[01:34:55] you know,
[01:34:55] him having the
[01:34:56] What's Next t-shirt
[01:34:58] contributing sale
[01:34:59] or the t-shirt
[01:34:59] to a charity
[01:35:00] for people who had
[01:35:01] suddenly faced
[01:35:02] unemployment.
[01:35:03] Him crossing
[01:35:04] the Mediterranean Sea
[01:35:05] in his break.
[01:35:06] Him doing
[01:35:07] a triathlon
[01:35:11] between race weekends
[01:35:12] at home.
[01:35:13] Him taking
[01:35:14] a 5,000 euro
[01:35:15] tab
[01:35:16] of all the drivers
[01:35:17] and then
[01:35:18] the drivers
[01:35:19] giving him
[01:35:20] tours
[01:35:20] which suddenly
[01:35:21] put him into
[01:35:22] Q3.
[01:35:23] What a cheap
[01:35:23] way to do that.
[01:35:25] All the drivers
[01:35:26] have never made it
[01:35:27] past Q1,
[01:35:28] Q2 next year.
[01:35:29] Just take all
[01:35:30] the drivers out.
[01:35:31] 5,000 euros
[01:35:31] is not a lot of money
[01:35:32] every race.
[01:35:34] Put down that money
[01:35:35] and you will get
[01:35:36] a Q3.
[01:35:37] And then ensure
[01:35:37] that you have
[01:35:38] a bonus clause
[01:35:39] in your driver
[01:35:40] contract.
[01:35:41] That every time
[01:35:41] you get into Q3
[01:35:42] you get $5,000.
[01:35:43] So do the math.
[01:35:45] But there were also
[01:35:46] Fernando Alonso moments
[01:35:47] that I'm sure
[01:35:49] you've had.
[01:35:50] So he's had
[01:35:50] more Q3 appearances
[01:35:51] than
[01:35:52] Checo Perez.
[01:35:54] Again
[01:35:54] offering to pay
[01:35:56] Adrian Nui's wages
[01:35:57] but my favorite
[01:35:59] Alonso
[01:36:00] actually two of them.
[01:36:01] There was one
[01:36:01] race where
[01:36:03] his session
[01:36:04] ended
[01:36:04] because
[01:36:05] they were filming
[01:36:06] for Apex
[01:36:07] or with the
[01:36:08] Apex Grand Prix
[01:36:09] team
[01:36:09] and the FIA
[01:36:10] just put him
[01:36:11] on the side
[01:36:11] and he
[01:36:12] could not
[01:36:12] go back
[01:36:13] when the red flag
[01:36:13] stopped and
[01:36:14] the race resumed
[01:36:15] or the session
[01:36:16] resumed.
[01:36:17] But in the first
[01:36:18] five races
[01:36:20] he went from
[01:36:20] zero to six
[01:36:22] penalty points
[01:36:23] because he was
[01:36:24] qualifying that
[01:36:26] Aston Martin
[01:36:27] in places
[01:36:27] it couldn't race in
[01:36:28] and then trying to
[01:36:29] race everyone else
[01:36:30] he was just
[01:36:30] suddenly going
[01:36:31] out of the limit.
[01:36:31] But Somal
[01:36:32] we're nearing
[01:36:33] the end of
[01:36:34] this episode
[01:36:34] what's your
[01:36:35] final winner
[01:36:37] of the
[01:36:38] moment of the
[01:36:39] year category?
[01:36:39] That's a lot
[01:36:40] of pressure
[01:36:40] man.
[01:36:42] I know mine.
[01:36:44] I think it's
[01:36:45] that safety car
[01:36:45] in Miami.
[01:36:47] Nothing has
[01:36:48] been the same.
[01:36:49] You mean the
[01:36:50] bollard in Miami?
[01:36:51] So the bollard
[01:36:51] in Miami
[01:36:52] and the safety
[01:36:53] car afterwards
[01:36:54] and then the
[01:36:55] safety car
[01:36:55] picking up
[01:36:56] the wrong
[01:36:56] driver
[01:36:57] that to me
[01:36:58] changed the
[01:36:59] season.
[01:37:00] Byrne Maylander
[01:37:01] just always assumed
[01:37:02] it was Max
[01:37:03] who was the
[01:37:04] race leader
[01:37:05] and just picked
[01:37:06] up.
[01:37:06] But another
[01:37:07] big moment
[01:37:08] we got
[01:37:09] Ibrahim Ali
[01:37:09] Khan speaking
[01:37:10] in Hindi.
[01:37:12] Oh he
[01:37:13] speaks in
[01:37:13] Hindi.
[01:37:13] He got
[01:37:14] Shah Lekler
[01:37:15] speaking in
[01:37:15] Hindi.
[01:37:16] What am I
[01:37:16] saying?
[01:37:16] Wow it's been
[01:37:17] a long episode.
[01:37:18] But yeah
[01:37:18] Lekler spoke
[01:37:18] Hindi so that's
[01:37:19] phenomenal.
[01:37:20] I'm surprised
[01:37:21] you guys have
[01:37:21] not picked
[01:37:22] one moment
[01:37:23] from the
[01:37:23] Brazilian
[01:37:24] Grand Prix
[01:37:24] Lance Stroll
[01:37:25] betting it
[01:37:26] on his own
[01:37:28] on the
[01:37:28] formation lap.
[01:37:29] I mean
[01:37:30] it's like
[01:37:31] what's
[01:37:32] unexpected
[01:37:32] now from
[01:37:33] that.
[01:37:33] You tell
[01:37:34] me.
[01:37:34] We know
[01:37:35] these things.
[01:37:35] Oh yeah that
[01:37:36] doesn't fit the
[01:37:36] category of
[01:37:37] the episode
[01:37:37] correct.
[01:37:38] It doesn't
[01:37:38] fit the
[01:37:38] theme.
[01:37:39] Yeah so I'll
[01:37:41] go with that
[01:37:41] actually or I
[01:37:42] would also say
[01:37:42] that Sergio
[01:37:43] Perez ending
[01:37:44] his season and
[01:37:45] probably even
[01:37:45] his F1
[01:37:46] career in a
[01:37:47] very Sergio
[01:37:48] Perez manner
[01:37:49] from 2024.
[01:37:50] I mean I
[01:37:51] know he's
[01:37:52] really fallen
[01:37:52] down in that
[01:37:53] regard considering
[01:37:54] he was a
[01:37:55] very good
[01:37:56] midfield driver
[01:37:56] or one of
[01:37:57] the most
[01:37:57] consistent
[01:37:58] drivers before
[01:37:59] his Red Bull
[01:38:00] era.
[01:38:01] but going
[01:38:02] out of his
[01:38:03] F1 career
[01:38:03] probably
[01:38:04] without
[01:38:05] with the
[01:38:06] DNF is
[01:38:07] not the
[01:38:07] most ideal
[01:38:08] way.
[01:38:08] He started
[01:38:08] his Formula
[01:38:09] 1 career
[01:38:10] with a
[01:38:10] disqualification
[01:38:11] I think
[01:38:11] back in
[01:38:12] 2011 and
[01:38:13] he probably
[01:38:13] ends his
[01:38:14] F1 career
[01:38:14] with a
[01:38:15] DNF on
[01:38:15] the opening
[01:38:16] lap.
[01:38:16] and I'm
[01:38:17] going to
[01:38:17] end this
[01:38:17] category
[01:38:18] nomination
[01:38:19] since
[01:38:19] Somil is
[01:38:20] so emotional
[01:38:20] about an
[01:38:21] Ocon moment
[01:38:22] of the
[01:38:22] year.
[01:38:23] Taking an
[01:38:23] Alpine car
[01:38:24] to the
[01:38:25] Williams factory
[01:38:25] to negotiate
[01:38:26] a move
[01:38:27] there and
[01:38:27] getting caught
[01:38:28] on GPS.
[01:38:29] Did he
[01:38:29] seriously do
[01:38:30] that?
[01:38:30] He did
[01:38:31] do that.
[01:38:35] What's the
[01:38:35] thought process
[01:38:36] behind that?
[01:38:36] I got to
[01:38:37] drive to
[01:38:38] Grove.
[01:38:38] I have a
[01:38:38] Williams car
[01:38:39] which they've
[01:38:40] given me for
[01:38:40] the season.
[01:38:41] I'll just
[01:38:41] drive it
[01:38:42] there not
[01:38:42] thinking that
[01:38:43] they're going
[01:38:43] to track
[01:38:43] him down.
[01:38:44] Williams company
[01:38:45] car.
[01:38:47] They had
[01:38:48] their Alpine
[01:38:49] company car
[01:38:49] and they took
[01:38:50] it to
[01:38:50] Williams.
[01:38:50] That's a
[01:38:51] rookie mistake
[01:38:51] brother.
[01:38:53] Oh wow.
[01:38:54] Wow.
[01:38:55] Wow.
[01:38:55] We're not
[01:38:56] mentioning
[01:38:56] Carlos Sainz
[01:38:57] winning in
[01:38:57] Mexico City.
[01:38:58] No.
[01:38:59] No.
[01:39:00] We will
[01:39:00] mention a
[01:39:01] moment of
[01:39:01] the year
[01:39:01] when the
[01:39:02] official media
[01:39:03] list was
[01:39:04] sent a
[01:39:06] Google Drive
[01:39:07] link to
[01:39:07] all the
[01:39:08] screenshots
[01:39:09] between
[01:39:09] Horner and
[01:39:10] his
[01:39:10] secretary's
[01:39:11] whatever
[01:39:13] misconduct
[01:39:13] you call
[01:39:14] it.
[01:39:14] I still
[01:39:15] haven't been
[01:39:15] added to
[01:39:15] the list.
[01:39:16] I've been
[01:39:16] asked several
[01:39:18] times.
[01:39:19] You don't
[01:39:20] want to
[01:39:20] know people's
[01:39:20] WhatsApp
[01:39:21] chats.
[01:39:21] But that
[01:39:22] same list
[01:39:22] had the
[01:39:23] Mercedes
[01:39:23] sabotage
[01:39:24] thing as
[01:39:25] well.
[01:39:25] Which also
[01:39:26] turned out
[01:39:26] to be
[01:39:27] BS.
[01:39:28] Yeah.
[01:39:29] MBS.
[01:39:30] Mercedes
[01:39:31] BS.
[01:39:32] What
[01:39:32] MBS are
[01:39:33] you guys
[01:39:33] talking about?
[01:39:34] But I
[01:39:35] have a
[01:39:35] stat which
[01:39:36] actually is
[01:39:37] the reason
[01:39:37] why.
[01:39:38] You know
[01:39:38] Samuel and
[01:39:38] I and
[01:39:39] I'm not
[01:39:40] excluding
[01:39:40] you but
[01:39:40] you know
[01:39:41] the good
[01:39:41] old
[01:39:42] motorsport
[01:39:43] saying was
[01:39:43] race on
[01:39:44] Sunday,
[01:39:45] win and
[01:39:45] sell cars
[01:39:46] on Monday.
[01:39:46] That's the
[01:39:47] motorsport I
[01:39:47] grew up
[01:39:48] to and
[01:39:48] given that
[01:39:49] Samuel always
[01:39:49] has a
[01:39:50] 70s
[01:39:50] reference
[01:39:51] every time
[01:39:51] we speak.
[01:39:52] Red Bull
[01:39:53] Racing
[01:39:53] actually
[01:39:54] proved
[01:39:55] that
[01:39:56] Red Bull
[01:39:57] Energy
[01:39:57] Drinks
[01:39:57] they're able
[01:39:58] to sell
[01:39:59] cans
[01:40:00] using Formula
[01:40:01] One
[01:40:01] activities.
[01:40:02] They sold
[01:40:02] 320 million
[01:40:03] cans
[01:40:04] on the
[01:40:05] back of
[01:40:06] Formula One
[01:40:07] activities and
[01:40:07] that means
[01:40:08] Red Bull
[01:40:08] Racing is
[01:40:10] in the
[01:40:10] top 10
[01:40:11] countries
[01:40:12] that sells
[01:40:13] Red Bull
[01:40:14] Energy
[01:40:14] drinks.
[01:40:17] Nice.
[01:40:18] You mean
[01:40:18] Austria?
[01:40:19] No,
[01:40:20] Red Bull
[01:40:20] Racing.
[01:40:21] So if
[01:40:21] Red Bull
[01:40:21] Racing
[01:40:22] were a
[01:40:22] country.
[01:40:24] That way?
[01:40:24] I mean
[01:40:25] are they
[01:40:25] selling most
[01:40:25] of their
[01:40:26] Red Bulls
[01:40:26] to Williams
[01:40:27] and their
[01:40:27] mechanics who
[01:40:28] have to
[01:40:28] stay up all
[01:40:28] night to
[01:40:29] work on
[01:40:29] their car?
[01:40:30] Because that
[01:40:30] looks like a
[01:40:31] very,
[01:40:31] very good
[01:40:31] deal inside
[01:40:32] the paddock.
[01:40:33] Yes.
[01:40:34] What looks
[01:40:34] like a good
[01:40:35] deal is a
[01:40:35] hundred
[01:40:36] minute long
[01:40:36] episode.
[01:40:37] Our
[01:40:37] longest
[01:40:38] ever.
[01:40:39] No,
[01:40:39] we've
[01:40:39] gone
[01:40:39] longer.
[01:40:40] For sure
[01:40:40] we've
[01:40:41] gone
[01:40:41] longer.
[01:40:41] We
[01:40:41] banter
[01:40:42] around
[01:40:42] a lot.
[01:40:42] We've
[01:40:43] gone
[01:40:43] Grand Prix
[01:40:43] length right
[01:40:44] now.
[01:40:45] My goodness.
[01:40:46] Thank you
[01:40:46] for staying
[01:40:46] a lot.
[01:40:46] Singapore level
[01:40:47] though because
[01:40:47] there are
[01:40:48] still so
[01:40:48] many
[01:40:48] interesting
[01:40:49] little nuggets
[01:40:50] on each
[01:40:50] of our
[01:40:51] laptops that
[01:40:51] we haven't
[01:40:52] even mentioned
[01:40:52] yet.
[01:40:53] But that's
[01:40:53] for, I
[01:40:54] don't know.
[01:40:55] WhatsApp,
[01:40:56] social media.
[01:40:56] I guess,
[01:40:57] I guess we'll
[01:40:57] figure it out.
[01:40:58] But thank you.
[01:40:59] Thank you for
[01:40:59] watching us.
[01:41:00] Thank you for
[01:41:00] listening to us.
[01:41:02] Thank you to
[01:41:02] our editor who
[01:41:03] has to sit
[01:41:03] through a
[01:41:03] hundred
[01:41:04] minutes of
[01:41:05] footage to
[01:41:05] just get
[01:41:06] everything
[01:41:06] dissected.
[01:41:07] Good luck
[01:41:07] Tom.
[01:41:07] But how
[01:41:08] cool is
[01:41:09] this?
[01:41:10] All of us
[01:41:10] in the same
[01:41:11] studio at
[01:41:11] the same
[01:41:11] time.
[01:41:12] We're all
[01:41:12] going to do
[01:41:13] more of
[01:41:13] this as
[01:41:14] well.
[01:41:14] Kunal's here
[01:41:14] for the
[01:41:15] winter and
[01:41:15] we are going
[01:41:16] to do an
[01:41:16] event in
[01:41:16] Mumbai where
[01:41:17] all of you
[01:41:18] can join in
[01:41:19] and listen to
[01:41:19] all these
[01:41:20] discussions and
[01:41:21] more and be
[01:41:21] involved in that
[01:41:22] fun as well
[01:41:22] in person.
[01:41:23] So we can't
[01:41:24] wait to see
[01:41:24] you for that.
[01:41:25] More information
[01:41:26] should be out
[01:41:26] on at
[01:41:27] inside line
[01:41:27] F1 pod on
[01:41:28] all of our
[01:41:29] social media
[01:41:29] handles.
[01:41:30] That's who we
[01:41:31] are.
[01:41:32] Thank you for
[01:41:32] listening and
[01:41:32] thank you for
[01:41:33] watching.
[01:41:33] It's been a
[01:41:34] great 2024 and
[01:41:35] we should sign
[01:41:37] off by saying
[01:41:38] it's been a
[01:41:39] simply lovely
[01:41:40] year or will
[01:41:41] we be
[01:41:41] copyrighted for
[01:41:41] that?
[01:41:43] Yeah,
[01:41:43] possibly.
[01:41:44] Possibly.
[01:41:44] Yeah, but
[01:41:45] it's been a
[01:41:46] lovely year.
[01:41:46] It's been a
[01:41:47] lovely year.
[01:41:47] Not simply,
[01:41:48] but extraordinarily
[01:41:49] simply.
[01:41:49] No, what
[01:41:50] extraordinarily
[01:41:50] lovely.
[01:41:51] But thank you
[01:41:52] for being here for
[01:41:52] that guys.
[01:41:53] Thank you for
[01:41:53] watching.
[01:41:53] We'll see you
[01:41:54] in a bit.
