[00:00:00] Hello and welcome to HW News Report. Here you can listen to news from political and

[00:00:07] economical work. Follow this podcast now to stay updated. At HW News, we have been

[00:00:13] delivering news that matters to you. Our goal is to present you with information that

[00:00:18] simulates conversation around topics of larger public importance. There are often lost

[00:00:24] in the noise of shrill prime time.

[00:00:34] So BBC is back in news. Now, Delhi High Court summons BBC. That's the news. Let's

[00:00:42] first understand the neti-grities. We'll understand the neti-grities and then we'll spend

[00:00:46] two minutes talking about it. So let's start with the neti-grities, the Delhi High Court

[00:00:51] on May 22nd issued summons to British Broadcasting Corporation. That is BBC. On a defamation

[00:00:58] suit claiming its documentary casts a slur on the reputation of India as judiciary and

[00:01:06] prime minister Narendra Modi. Now they say that besides the BBC UK justice Sachin

[00:01:15] Data also issued notice to BBC India. So UK Kovid noticed issue here, India Kovid

[00:01:22] noticed issue here seeking its response on the suit filed by a Gujarat-based NGO justice

[00:01:31] for trial and her survey senior advocate appearing for the NGO said that the suit for defamation

[00:01:40] against BBC is in relation to the documentary which has defamed India and the whole system

[00:01:48] including the judiciary, which is what I told you before.

[00:01:51] Now the court has earlier issued summons to BBC, the Wikimedia Foundation and the US-based

[00:02:01] Digital Library Internet Archives after Bharatiya Janata party leader Vinay Kumar Singh filed

[00:02:08] a suit seeking a permanent restraint order against the organization for broadcasting

[00:02:14] BBC series India the Modi question. So this was done before also to stop release, to

[00:02:22] stop broadcast to restrain the agency from broadcasting and that is BBC, Wikimedia Foundation

[00:02:29] and US-based Digital Library Internet Archives so that there is restrain it from broadcasting

[00:02:37] in India. So this was done earlier on by Vinay Kumar Singh of Bharatiya Janata party

[00:02:45] according to the complainant Mr. Kumar who is a state executive committee member of BJP

[00:02:51] in Dharkhand, the BBC series has defamed organizations like RSS, VHP and BJP themselves.

[00:02:59] Now this is as far as BJP people are concerned, this is as far as the courts are concerned.

[00:03:05] Now let us understand what BBC has to say.

[00:03:10] Council appearing for BBC and Wikimedia inform the court of additional district judge,

[00:03:18] Ruchika Singala that they are foreign entities who have not been served properly and are

[00:03:24] appearing under protest, they are appearing but under protest, they said that they have

[00:03:29] received the copies of suit.

[00:03:33] What is something called as a water battery? Water battery is, you are saying this but

[00:03:39] what about when you do it? So when you do it you don't say. When we do it you say so

[00:03:44] that is what a typical concept of water battery. Now a lot of people who support the government

[00:03:52] the Bharatiya Janata party on this documentary role they say what they talk about water

[00:03:58] battery. They say here is British parliament, is British system the most ideal system and

[00:04:05] you look at your system here there are so many flaws in your system have you spoken about

[00:04:09] that? Have you spoken about atrocity is that British has done across to almost every country

[00:04:15] in this world have you spoken about that? Is there a British story where you have said

[00:04:19] that you know you did this to India you did this to African countries you did this to South

[00:04:23] Africa you did almost every country went through hell because of British colonialism have

[00:04:29] you done a story on that? That is one secondly is everything fair in Britain is the press

[00:04:36] absolutely free to write what they want everything is ideal circumstances in Britain no actually

[00:04:43] not actually not does racism exist in Britain of course racism exist in Britain. Of course

[00:04:49] racism exist in Britain any person who have gone lived or even traveled extensively in

[00:04:56] the United Kingdom you will tell you that yeah to a certain extent there is racial nationalism

[00:05:02] that's happening in Britain. Have as anybody spoken about it have you made a story about

[00:05:07] it? The answer is no, they have not made a story about it so is that fair is British broadcasting

[00:05:16] cooperation therefore fair? Well that's a question that one side of people ask.

[00:05:21] Now the other side of people say that listen you know what two rights doesn't make a wrong

[00:05:24] doesn't or rather two wrongs doesn't make a right my apologies, two wrong doesn't

[00:05:29] make a right does it? You are he did it so you have to do it he robs so what I also

[00:05:38] rub is that how you are going to function now? Is that fair? Is that even an argument?

[00:05:44] Number one number two is British broadcasting cooperation has got a lot of credibility

[00:05:53] you know reading their offices you know sending IT to their office and all of that was it necessary.

[00:06:03] Now you would say if they have wrong the government if they have wrong the revenue department IT

[00:06:11] will come that is what a lot of people will say but the fact is look at the timing can

[00:06:16] the ITV is timed in such a way that you release the documentary and then next week or after

[00:06:21] two weeks IT commentary you doesn't the timing surprises us if the timing is such which means

[00:06:29] that is it unfair to believe that the IT raid happened because of the documentary is

[00:06:35] it unfair to believe if that is the case then isn't the government trying to remove

[00:06:40] vengeance against broadcasting media that spoke about something which the government doesn't

[00:06:47] like is that not how you would view it? How you would view it?

[00:06:51] Come here down the line are we looking at everything with the same lenses or do we have

[00:06:58] different lens for one story and different lens for another story. That's the thought

[00:07:03] I would leave you with them. So this is a report on Delhi HC Delhi High Court summons the British

[00:07:11] broadcasting corporation. I will see you for my next report take care.
