[00:00:00] Welcome to my lovely people, my lovely audiences who are hearing to Hina's Emo Wisdom Podcast. Well this is your Hina Ambareen Khan certified wellness coach, certified life coach speaker or performance all scientists from Indian Institute of Science and in this episode I'm just going to talk to you
[00:00:16] about the importance of how you can get into the zone of hard work. What actually hard work means? Does it actually help you to achieve success? You know my dear people, people usually we all consider that hard work is the foundation
[00:00:35] of success yes or no and throughout our lives we keep on telling you know that working hard is essential and we are also taught in the same way yeah even in the school we are taught that work hard to get good grades and to prove up
[00:00:49] potential for higher education and this is quite common and even in college days where I or you have also seen that we often work hard to gain experience and prepare for our future opportunities and at the workplace we put
[00:01:03] in long hours sometimes called the workaholics and to maintain our position or to earn promotions. That's being a hard-working individual is it a trait that leads to personal and professional success and yes it's a never-ending process but what actually drives us to work hard? Why do some
[00:01:21] people work very hard and others don't? Yeah what is the science behind this hard work? This article I mean what I wanted to write it and then I thought let me bring it as a podcast where we are going to explore the insights from the
[00:01:39] cognitive neuroscience being a scientist and from the psychology perception to uncover the principles of developing a hard-working mindset the drive behind hard work we consider motivation a determinant of behavior that's a component of hard work when we are understanding motivation can provide
[00:02:00] deeper insights about developing a hard-working mindset the psychological theory of extrinsic versus the intrinsic motivation let me repeat this the psychological theory of extrinsic weather you understand what actually is extrinsic right so the extrinsic versus the intrinsic motivation the psychological theory of extrinsic versus intrinsic motivation motivation is
[00:02:29] divided into two that is extrinsic and intrinsic often when you are operating at different levels these are the key drivers of a hard work extrinsic motivation it works on external rewards and appraisal rewards like position the social appraisal leadership money power that's going to simulate a person to
[00:02:52] work hard towards the girl yeah this time of motivation it increases the productivity of the person but often it's temporary as the absence of the external reward can lead to a decrease in motivation and productivity this
[00:03:04] is what happens in most of the students there'll be a pig you know getting the good grades and everything they're applauded for that and once they stop getting that you can see how badly they get into depression even the top
[00:03:15] level successful person if they are into a billionaire or they are go making good fame and name and good amount of money and immediately when they see a loss you understand when there is no such kind of an applause for them they
[00:03:30] immediately get into severe phase of depression and intrinsic motivation on the other hand is about the inner drive to achieve something unlike the extrinsic motivation this type it strives for personal satisfaction and growth as a reward rather than external rewards okay so intrinsic motivation is
[00:03:49] sustainable as individuals they engage in the task or the goals because they are open to new experiences and they want to explore their potential as per neuroscience perspective of motivation I'm going to tell you in order to
[00:04:02] understand that motivation it leads one to work hard understanding the brains reward system that is important the neurotransmitter that is called as the dopamine plays a central role in this system okay so when you do something fulfilling such as finishing a research or finishing an assignment then
[00:04:21] our brain is going to release the dopamine and making us to feel that pleasure and this release it serves as a kind of reward whenever we are complete something this reward encourages us to continue to work hard towards
[00:04:36] our goals okay cognitive control and the effort regulation which I want to explain here it gives insight about cognitive control and effort regulation that is going to help you to stay motivated in order to work hard towards the goal this cognitive control it involves sitting the achievable
[00:04:54] goals or you have to eliminate the distractions you have to prioritize your task break this task into smaller steps so that you can stay productive and hence it's going to reduce the chances of you filling the burner whereas
[00:05:08] the effort regulation it involves maintaining that energy level okay and adjusting your efforts to stay motivated overnight what are the important rates of hard-working people punctuality persistence high commitment skills self-reliance passion for work okay so this intrinsic motivation it is a
[00:05:34] key factor when it comes to hard work why because it makes people persistent in their task hard work will have a positive effect on mental health if balanced my dear friends a person with the hard-working mindset will follow
[00:05:49] the effective habits and practices time management we also talk about many people say what is the time management time management yes of course when you prioritize your task based on those values and that time has also valuable time
[00:06:03] that's more important spending your time doing things that you value that is really very important if you have to achieve your goals time management is an effective skill it has so much of importance because it's going to ensure productivity and performance why I'm talking about time management because
[00:06:24] people feel overwhelmed they want to do so many things but they do nothing because every thinking work is going on only in the brain without taking action you tell me without taking action just thinking and thinking will make your
[00:06:38] body paralyzed you become very lazy and fitting rather when you're going to make list of the priorities that you have to work upon and you when you're working on that give your total focus and attention and with passion you do it
[00:06:53] you like it or not but you have to develop that passion for your kind information I was hating cooking when my mom passed away there was no other option for me except to learn cooking because I was not even knowing how to
[00:07:05] lit the gas I used to hate cooking for your kind information I have never stepped into the kitchen till she was alive but when I started learning I had to face lots of problems I burned my hand I used to burn my fingers so many
[00:07:20] cuts in my fingers oh my goodness the oil used to splutter on my face what not it was so scary nothing was coming out properly two years I struggled none of the recipes work properly but after two years I tried I tried I tried and
[00:07:36] now it's such a passion when I try to innovate anything into cooking I just do not see into any of the Google or YouTube or any other channels how to
[00:07:46] prepare this no I don't do that I just try to do what I want what I feel like I keep innovating I just consider a kitchen as a laboratory and I start doing things and it works so well that's a passion even if you dislike
[00:08:03] it start developing passion for doing something do not always say I am not interested in this I'm not interested in that yes you will not be interested because you're confused once you have hands on that you will definitely
[00:08:15] understand what actually your interest two years cooking did not work with me but did I stop no then I developed that passion oh I am going to innovate something I am going to innovate something okay so when you are
[00:08:29] going to set the achievable and clear goals it's going to provide you a straight direction and motivation while allowing you to track your accomplishments effectively optimism being optimistic having a positive outlook on life has a positive impact on both the mental and physical well-being how we are going
[00:08:50] to deal with challenges and tough situations it can vary from person to person yeah see when I lost my mom I was in severe phase of depression and I was paralyzed my body was paralyzed I was not in a position to move but by the power
[00:09:06] of the creator I you know almighty help me to get out of the depression I got into wellness and my health started improving my confidence was back in me and I started helping people you know that's all the thing that what has
[00:09:20] happened in my life okay but there are many people even if the parents pass away there are so many who are not affected but I was so badly affected when I lost my mom so it differs okay so the optimist they tend to believe they can handle
[00:09:39] difficult situations successfully discipline empowers you to overcome the unhelpful habits it can be procrastination perfection inconsistency which helps you to work hard and stay focused towards your goals with adequate rest and giving time to your loved ones supportive relationships a person with family
[00:10:03] friends mentors who supports the goals they are going to help you to work hard and work on your emotions as well see as an emotional wisdom specialist as a confidence coach I am a life coach I'm a wellness but I have
[00:10:19] specialized in this so please feel free to connect with me yeah because the kind of transformation that are happening in the people are mind-blowing by the mercy mercy mercy of the creator yeah we have joined in my sessions it's all
[00:10:35] by the power and the mercy of the creator what about your workplace a healthy workplace it provides social support appraisals appreciates the effort the hard work that is put in and that's going to create an atmosphere in which
[00:10:49] you're motivated to work more hard what are the psychological traits of cultivating a hard-working mindset it's not about putting in long working hours my dear friends but just understanding the motivation and reward system of the brain and also defining the traits of a hard-working individual
[00:11:08] developing essential life skills like time management and surrounding yourself with positive role models will help you to develop a hard-working mindset I say that hard working is not that long hours of working putting everything on the
[00:11:26] plate and trying to digest or beating up yourself that you could not digest everything or comparing your life with someone else that they could do I'm not able to do or you are forcing yourself to the extreme that you lose on
[00:11:46] that interest and energy yeah it should be digested part by part part by part and you should acknowledge every effort that you have put when you acknowledge forget about others are acknowledging one not you have to acknowledge more
[00:12:02] you it starts with you yourself when you yourself you are not acknowledging or appreciating the effort that you're putting how can you think somebody whom you expect we are going to do that nobody is going to do you have to be
[00:12:19] the best teacher for yourself you have to be the best your leader for yourself remember these two a best teacher and a best your leader and a best friend to yourself then only you'll be treated in the same way but being humble that's the
[00:12:37] key being persistent that's the key and taking this challenges opportunities is the key okay so just keep doing what you have to do with passion and be smart and with wisdom and again in this podcast I'm going to thank
