[00:00:00] Hi, this is Aarush and this is Rupali.
[00:00:07] Welcome to our podcast Growing Up Together where we will discuss about health, travel,
[00:00:13] life experiences, goals, parenting and much more.
[00:00:20] A very warm welcome to yet another episode of Growing Up Together.
[00:00:25] Today we are back with another exciting topic on sports.
[00:00:30] But before we cover our topic today, I want to ask you how many of you have fond memories
[00:00:37] of playing some other sport when you were a kid or if you are a kid listening to this,
[00:00:44] how many of you love sports and you spend your time learning something new, playing
[00:00:50] on the ground and learning lot of skills.
[00:00:55] So hey Aarush, what is your take on sports?
[00:00:59] I think sports are really important.
[00:01:02] It is a very integral part of our lives.
[00:01:05] Wow!
[00:01:06] So when you say integral part of our life, I am sure you might have certain points in
[00:01:12] your mind or you might have definitely experienced yourself how it is helping you currently
[00:01:18] because you are a soccer player.
[00:01:21] So let me ask about your experience.
[00:01:24] So what are some of the benefits of playing sports?
[00:01:28] So I think one, it's physical health and fitness.
[00:01:33] So I think sports make you more fit as you have to warm up before a match and that results
[00:01:39] in you being fit.
[00:01:41] Okay warming up before a match, yeah that's interesting one.
[00:01:45] So what actually you do when you say we do warm ups?
[00:01:50] So we jog and do sprints and we do football drills.
[00:01:56] Okay and how long does this last?
[00:01:58] One hour, one hour 30 minutes.
[00:02:01] Okay so you do warm up for one one and a half hours that's interesting.
[00:02:05] So don't you think that utilizes all your energy before you play the match or like
[00:02:09] how does it help?
[00:02:10] No it does not.
[00:02:12] It helps you and reduces chance of cramps in a match.
[00:02:16] It helps you develop your passing and shooting skills.
[00:02:22] Okay so this is something new which I learned that it helps you avoiding cramps.
[00:02:27] So that warm up is really required before any match.
[00:02:30] Thank you for sharing that Arush.
[00:02:32] What is the second point you want to mention?
[00:02:36] Teamwork.
[00:02:37] Teamwork can improve your social skills as you learn to communicate better.
[00:02:43] Okay how do you do that on ground?
[00:02:48] Do you have any example like how do you communicate and how it helps you?
[00:02:52] In better teamwork?
[00:02:54] Like we use teamwork communication and cooperation to play the match without communication.
[00:03:01] We won't know who to pass the ball to and then we won't be able to win the match.
[00:03:06] Okay that's great so teamwork is another point and you spoke about winning.
[00:03:14] So I want to bring this point.
[00:03:16] You have played so many matches and I'm sure there are wins and loss in every match.
[00:03:23] What is your take on this aspect when somebody loses and when somebody wins?
[00:03:30] What should be the attitude of a sports person?
[00:03:33] So when somebody loses you should usually go up to them shake their hands and say
[00:03:37] good game and if you lose it's okay to be sad but you should always shake the
[00:03:45] winner's hand.
[00:03:46] Wow to get the energy from the winner that's interesting.
[00:03:52] As you mentioned correctly that it is very very normal to feel sad because obviously
[00:03:57] everybody plays to win and nobody plays is to lose but do you think losing is important
[00:04:04] in game?
[00:04:05] Yeah because without losing there's no success, without failure there's no success.
[00:04:10] Okay and how do you apply those failure lessons in your next match?
[00:04:17] Well you learn what you did wrong in the match you lost and then you work towards to make
[00:04:24] it better.
[00:04:25] That's a great great point Arush which you have brought so just to re-emphasize on
[00:04:32] this what Arush just said is it's very important to keep a winning mindset but in case we
[00:04:39] lose in a match it's equally important to learn the lessons out of it so that you can
[00:04:45] improve your game and you can become a better player.
[00:04:49] Wow that's so cool.
[00:04:52] Thanks Arush for sharing that.
[00:04:54] So mom what are some sports you played and what learnings do you have to share with
[00:04:58] all of us?
[00:05:00] Yeah so Arush I remember I was obsessed with basketball that was a game which
[00:05:06] I loved playing and the way you are playing a inter-school soccer game I used to play basketball
[00:05:13] inter-school and that was so much fun.
[00:05:17] Another game which I remember was softball which we got a chance to play at a state
[00:05:22] level but as we mentioned about winning and losing we were the runners up in the state
[00:05:28] level and could not reach nationals but that taught a lot of things to me.
[00:05:34] So for me personally if I have to say playing any kind of sport keeps you always active, energetic
[00:05:43] and enthusiastic and that reflects in every area of your life so that is a very good way
[00:05:52] of being flexible, being you know adaptable in any situation of your life that is number
[00:05:59] one.
[00:06:00] Number two which I categorically remember during my childhood was because I was into multiple
[00:06:06] sports I used to have very healthy eating habits and till today if I see because of the sports
[00:06:17] I played I always wanted to be fit on the ground very active and that has shaped the
[00:06:23] food habits which I have today.
[00:06:25] So as you rightly mentioned that sports help you in your physical fitness I would also say
[00:06:31] that sports also help you in your mental and emotional fitness.
[00:06:37] So yeah these were pretty much two points which I say and while you are engaged in
[00:06:42] any of the sport you learn lot of other skills which otherwise you will not.
[00:06:49] So till today if I get a chance to play any sport I just try my hands out and I really
[00:06:56] love playing along with you so yeah that's about it.
[00:07:00] Yeah today the episode has been a hit.
[00:07:05] Hit in the terms of goals?
[00:07:07] Sure.
[00:07:08] Okay great so thanks everyone for listening us and would really love to know your feedback,
[00:07:17] comments if you want us to make the podcast on any particular topic most welcome to receive
[00:07:25] your comments on that.
[00:07:26] Bye guys have to go play football.
[00:07:28] Bye bye take care.
[00:07:30] So stay tuned catch you in our next podcast.
