[00:00:00] Hi, this is Aarush and this is Rupali. Welcome to our podcast, Growing Up Together where we

[00:00:10] will discuss about health, travel, life experiences, goals, parenting and much more.

[00:00:21] Hello everyone, so we are again back with our next episode and today we are going to

[00:00:25] discuss about family time. So yes Aarush, do you think family time is important?

[00:00:33] Yes absolutely, I think family time is very important.

[00:00:36] And why do you think so? Family time helps you to bond like if you watch a movie or do anything fun

[00:00:43] it helps you to bond and cherish everything you have. It also helps you to improve your communication.

[00:00:49] You feel more free to talk about your feelings to your family. It also creates

[00:00:54] very beautiful memories like I have with you and dad which I will cherish forever.

[00:01:00] Wow that's so nice and I like the point you made on communication. When we have family time

[00:01:05] it's very easy to communicate whatever is on our mind whether it's good or bad

[00:01:11] and we are free to discuss with our own family members and such that's such a beautiful

[00:01:16] thing to have. Okay, so now we discussed about why family time is important. Now let's

[00:01:23] move on to the segment where we will be talking about some of the tips which we use at our family

[00:01:31] which helps us to bond nicely. So Aarush, let me give it to you and what do you think about

[00:01:39] what are some of the things people can do to bond as a family? So I think one eat any one

[00:01:46] eat together like breakfast lunch and dinner this helps you to focus entirely on your family

[00:01:52] and leave all the gadgets behind. Gadgets yes that's a very important element to discuss here.

[00:02:00] So bonding over a meal helps us to get off those screens which otherwise take our attention most

[00:02:09] of the time. So yeah that's a very great point. What is next on your list? I think watching

[00:02:13] a movie like comedy action thrill I mean I prefer Marvel but comedy is also fine.

[00:02:21] Why do you think people bond when they watch a movie together? It's not like they interact but

[00:02:28] when they watch a movie together they experience the same feelings as the actors in the movie

[00:02:34] experience through. Yeah and it's good way of having discussions post the movie and you know

[00:02:41] talking about what they liked about the movie and what they experienced so great. What is the

[00:02:48] next point? Third it's cooking like me and you we cook like once a week we cook that cake last time

[00:02:56] and last to last time I almost blew up blew up the kitchen but that's a different story.

[00:03:00] What what is that I'm not aware of it when did you do that? You were out

[00:03:06] no one needs to know that it's fine. Okay let me catch hold of you post this episode.

[00:03:12] Okay let's let's continue. So cooking yes as you mentioned that it's a very good way to bond together.

[00:03:19] Okay do you remember few of the last recipes we tried together last time? Yeah I think we made

[00:03:25] some cake and some yeah we made watermelon mojito. Yes great so thank you Arush for sharing

[00:03:36] the great pointers on your list. Yeah now will you give me a couple of more points?

[00:03:44] Yeah sure I would love to. So this one is my favorite so as you mentioned in your first point

[00:03:51] where you suggested people to bond over one of the meal in the day I usually take that opportunity

[00:03:57] and we all discuss our 10 random gratitude. So people who are listening about 10 random

[00:04:04] gratitude for the first time this is just an exercise to call out 10 different things from

[00:04:12] the previous day or the same day and being thankful and grateful to God for whatever has gone well.

[00:04:20] So this gratitude you know feeling puts you in a very positive frame of mind and it also

[00:04:27] helps you to focus on what all the things are working great in your life and not looking

[00:04:33] on the things which are not working. Like the saying goes if there's a whole cake but only

[00:04:38] one piece is missing you only focus on that one piece of cake that's missing very few people

[00:04:43] actually focus on what's there this exercise has helped me help me and my family a lot.

[00:04:51] Thank you Arush the analogy of the cake is just amazing I'm going to definitely use it

[00:04:55] for my coaching sessions. Okay so the last one which I have for this episode is

[00:05:04] figuring out some new place on a weekend or you know twice or thrice in a month

[00:05:10] where you all can go out as a family explore some new cuisine or new fun place or maybe a

[00:05:17] shopping mall anything which you know bonds you all together where you all can have fun

[00:05:24] and spend some real quality time for say three to four hours because it's very

[00:05:30] difficult to get that time out during weekdays if you know both the parents are working or one

[00:05:35] of the parent is working so I think that dose once a week really helps to connect everybody back.

[00:05:43] I agree it's a really really good suggestion.

[00:05:48] Okay and do you remember the last one which we went together?

[00:05:53] The arcade. Yeah so what are your some of your great memories from there?

[00:05:58] Ah yeah the arcade was fun and then we went to that shopping mall it was really crowded but

[00:06:05] really really joyful. Great and thank you for taking care of your little sister when we are

[00:06:13] doing the shopping. Okay so let me quickly summarize the five points which we just

[00:06:20] spoke in this episode so point number one was having a meal together in a day

[00:06:26] you can do it thrice of four times in a week if it is not possible daily. Second thing is watching

[00:06:32] a movie together so that all of the family members can have some couple of hours you know

[00:06:40] as a separate time to enjoy something new. Third is definitely cooking because me and

[00:06:46] Arush we love cooking and we always explore some of the new recipe every week in the kitchen.

[00:06:53] The fourth on the list is calling out the gratitude together one by one and that helps to

[00:07:01] collectively call out so many blessings which we feel as a family and last but not the least

[00:07:08] explore some place fun place which will bond everybody together and you know give you

[00:07:15] lots of memories to cherish. So with that we are done any last thoughts Arush?

[00:07:22] So yeah I think this episode was really important so I guess bye and I better run I don't want my

[00:07:29] mom catching me. I'm coming Arush bye everyone so stay tuned catch you in our next podcast.

[00:07:37] This is Arush this is Rupali signing out.
