[00:00:00] Never ask a woman her age, a man her salary and land on Norris what tires he warned. As a strategy. Don't do that. Again, yet again they did the same thing. Like why would you ask a racing driver?
[00:00:14] Who do you want to choose the guy ahead of you or the guy behind you? Who is ever going to answer the guy behind me? Welcome back to F1 Fanfiction. Hello, hello, a show about race week and reviews and racing community. Interviews, we are your hosts.
[00:00:37] I am Akash. I'm Sarang. And let's get in there. Let's get in there. Yes. Amen. Here's where it gets very interesting. If you are someone who has been listening to us since the beginning of times for a fun fanfiction, first of all thank you.
[00:00:59] Thank you for being here with us through all these years and all these episodes. And you know how ironic it's going to be when this race we go all cheers and all happy for Louis Hamilton because we've sort of like this him for race after race
[00:01:18] on those initial years. But again, if you are someone who knows us, we hate the guy who's always leading. Right? So this race is is is a Lewis master class a fanboy coming back within every every petrol head, every evashing fan and what are we can?
[00:01:38] What are we can? So absolute master class man. That's all I can say. First of all as you were summed it up pretty well. Being a hate they're not exactly hitter but being the hitter of the dominant player who was Hamilton for a very long time.
[00:01:52] I think I've spent a lot of time disliking him and after you know after two and half years when he got back on that top step felt really good to like yeah it felt like the world was healing. To see Hamilton gone. Back in action amazing man. Yeah.
[00:02:11] It's just insane like after the last championship which you know like was the had to come so contentious exactly after the Abu Dhabi incident like it seemed like he had just disappeared somehow.
[00:02:26] He had kind of at times in fact it almost felt like he had lost his confidence somewhere as well. Like at times in interviews and stuff he seemed pretty low and then yeah amazing he's back there.
[00:02:38] Yeah first win after 945 days and boy the right place to make a comeback. He's been on the podium step since 2014 that he's been in this port. I mean he's been around more than that but since 2014 he's been on that podium.
[00:03:01] Breaking his own record with 8 wins on a circuit and Michael Schumacher's 8 win too. He holds now the record for most wins at a circuit which is 9 absolute masterclass. That combined with the right strategy the right amount of luck. The right amount of drizzle of rain.
[00:03:24] Yeah man what a what a Sunday what a great way to end a day. What I have a question for you. Do you think Hamilton were still one the adhesive flussell hadn't retired? Yes. Yeah yes. And I say this because I forget what happened in where it was.
[00:03:43] But as well as leading comfortably but Louis was behind him he was chasing him down. And I think at like one of those places he almost even got him. So all in all I think there's more talent than more than the young passion between those two
[00:04:03] drivers and I think like this this particular talent isn't something like record or which is filling out. More like a lawn zone which is still going strong at 40. At age 39, 7 months whatever it is right I think you've rest still got in it. Yeah different Hamilton yeah.
[00:04:28] I think so does Jeremy Clarkson because I think before the race when he was asked who do you think is going to win the race. He said that if it rains it's going to be one of the oldies either
[00:04:38] Hamilton or uh along so because the old boys are good with train that's what he said. Yeah that's totally true yeah that's exactly what happened. So yeah I think his experience and everything like played out perfectly for him today. Yeah yeah that.
[00:04:55] Honestly I don't feel like it was his race to win as such. There was no point I mean except for the last few uh like 10 laps when he was ahead but before
[00:05:07] that at no point was he I think like there was a clear winner that you know he would win because I think for a long time or not it was pretty much out like right there.
[00:05:17] Actually this could have very well been a McLaren 1 to somehow as fucked up with them but he could have very well-arrived. Yeah yeah oh that's uh oh wow that's a very nice word to use for identification. Oh man like get me a teacher with that.
[00:05:37] I'll wear the every time I've got my finger. I forari fired I forari. Oh no. Oh shit man if anyone's listening to this you have our permission to blow this up as much as you want but you listen to it here first. But anyways they're good sorry.
[00:05:58] No you you you've completely blanked me out but yeah sorry yeah now it's coming back Yeah McLaren could have gotten it one two but see again again right after 20 years of watching this port.
[00:06:12] It only is a realization after you have such a dynamicness in winning and podiums and fighting that you realize that there are stages to victory. One is going from being a back marker to being in the mid-back.
[00:06:29] Yeah there is being in the mid-back to being one of the front contenders. And then the last step is actually the most challenging which is when we're in the lead for the fight getting every step right.
[00:06:45] So with that the respect for Louis or mercenaries or red bulls or McLaren for their dominance or a Zorferari blah blah blah blah blah. You know I'm so much because they've been putting every foot right after right after
[00:07:05] right I mean left also somewhere but in your bad anyways to win that because McLaren proves that they've got the right combination, the right upgrades, the rights set up everything but it's that last mile there we were things sort of get shaky and you know
[00:07:27] there's the next person sitting right there to steal it off you and boy it was away. So with that said this that meme never asked a woman for age. A man his salary and land on Norris what tires he wants. That's right. Don't do that.
[00:07:46] Oh man again yet again they did the same thing like why would you ask a racing driver okay a racing driver that whom do you want to choose the guy ahead of you or the guy behind you? Who is ever going to answer the guy behind me?
[00:08:00] Like what sense does it make? Oh my goodness. Just make up a strategy and tell it to him. Yeah yeah. No anyways we'll come back to McLaren so going going back to going back to Hamilton and wrapping up mercies there.
[00:08:15] Yeah I think a brilliant double pit stop from the fox. Both in a good 3.23.3 sort of bracket for both of them positioning both of them perfectly well. All in all brilliant Saturday and Sunday for breads itself to I mean I don't follow all sports
[00:08:34] but soccer football wherever you're listening to this. England's been making a comeback with football as well. They've changed prime minister. Yeah exactly. So much is happening in the country like everyone's on the edge. Like stars star things of matter. They're shooting.
[00:08:55] I like it like I don't know what the best of the country but Louis definitely was super emotional right after the race like a really family there as well man. Yeah yeah right amazing like really it was like a dream run from him for him.
[00:09:11] I think pretty much like the perfect place, the perfect track. The yeah. The last race with his team and on this track and honestly like how much ever I want to be positive. I have very low hopes of him in ingraces with Ferrari.
[00:09:28] Yeah I think this is like you know like a fair well-victred kind of a thing. Yeah yeah. The last cherry on the top before now we're moving on to McLaren is that after the race
[00:09:40] then Salaman or Suleyam whatever that guy that guy has yeah has this habit of sort of like congratulating these new winners and getting sort of like photo or popper, you'd like stuff with them. He's waiting while Louis is tying issues and Louis gets up.
[00:10:00] There's this sort of like Ben is more enthusiastic to shake his hand. Louis sort of like is one of those where if Louis was to meet you or I, like you would just shake hands for the sake of it and just start.
[00:10:11] And he fast walking my ass, he does that and that means that's not beyond that. You don't deserve any second of this glory being yours right? Yeah. Sort of here right. Yeah. He must be like in a first of all I lost her is because of you. Yeah.
[00:10:29] And now you're coming to come and let me put this one. Yeah right exactly. Oh one thing dude I have to talk about this. What the hell was going on with this trophy? Like the first place trophy was brilliant. Oh, no. 10 on 10. No. 110.
[00:10:46] There are not a fall of money after that. Dude after that. It was a crash. Can't swan. This gives them crash cans. I don't get it. It's a completely different. It felt like they brought a trophy from a different track.
[00:11:00] But a different air or like it was like yeah. You know what it seemed to me? Like they had one trophy specially kept for Hamilton which was this one. Yeah. And if anybody else would have won give it a win. Dude have the crash canter of me.
[00:11:14] Fair enough fair enough. This was McLaren's game to lose and boy did they lose their race. At one point what did seem like a one to finish ended up being like a three four finish.
[00:11:28] And one to finish with the fact like it could have been either P.A.S. please or no. It wasn't like Norris was game to win either. They need to step up their game somehow somewhere. Yeah. Because this isn't the first time that's just happened to them.
[00:11:41] They've they've they've lost some winning races and they need to get from their dominance error to now everything changed in their team right? Like sure it's all fanboys of McLaren in their team but everything changed.
[00:11:54] So so that last mile delivery that we spoke about is something that these guys maybe don't know. Or a jeopardy winner doesn't have any. Yeah. Right. So Zach also sort of like needs to get his bearing straight and see what they need to change to get that. Right.
[00:12:12] That's been. Yeah man. And it's it's yeah this is I feel like the drivers did nothing wrong at all. I think they pretty much gave whatever they could and like the team failed them. That's pretty much yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh one thing.
[00:12:26] I think even on the cooldown room there was a moment where Hamilton says to land. Yeah you that you stayed out and for an extra lap as something that's what he said. Right. Oh that was okay. Yeah. Okay. What are you talking about? No.
[00:12:40] This is this other I didn't hear I didn't expect Lewis to say this but so so Max goes glad to see you here because it's been a little bit like a ham board XYZ right. And then Lewis's reply was ball hogger. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Oh man.
[00:12:59] I don't know like you know you're losing. Yeah. But what's up with this word one you stayed out for a lap thing? I don't know about this one. Oh I mean just about his strategy like even the pit stop that they did they should have
[00:13:15] put it along with with Hamilton because yeah it's like in usual races at makes sense to do the opposite strategy but not when it's raining like yeah that's just too bad like yeah and we found that out with with the Astrid poor guy. Yeah.
[00:13:30] So here's the thing what's your take on should they have double stacked McLaren like Mercedes did or maybe not. I think they were in a very difficult position. I think like yes kind of like but again it's like you know we have like now we can say what
[00:13:47] happened. Making that decision at that time it is not very clear because it wasn't raining throughout the track it only sections of the track that I've read that it was really wet and you
[00:13:58] were losing a lot of time but I think for them it probably was the gamble of you know either running the gamble at the pit stop where a lot more other people will be petting.
[00:14:09] Uh think can go wrong with the double stack when drivers are right behind each other. Yeah. I think Mercedes got a little bit of advantage because they had some gap at least. So one point something and PSG has points. Exactly. Yeah exactly.
[00:14:24] It was unfortunate I think it was just diet timing or yeah that's all we can say. I think about that. That's true and again it's all hindsight as most of these things are but yeah it was either
[00:14:36] either taking the risk of losing time waiting behind land or with that with that point second. Which he had to close top by the way. So he did that was also there. Yeah because land was stopped a good point. What point?
[00:14:49] Three or something yeah because he's got a meter ahead of when where your side was stopped. Yeah. Oh man. Oh man. I'm going to give a huge shout out to the mechanics at McLaren because that
[00:15:02] pit stop was shown from a top cam and you could see wasably like a good meter or two where land was stopped ahead and the immediate reflex of the mechanics to shift. And you can see like the 20 of their it's pure or just 20.
[00:15:21] You could see 20 like I'm shifting two meters ahead in a glimpse making that change. So only losing an extra second if you will right from a regular pit stop because the average is a three second pit stop.
[00:15:36] So only losing the second over I find that your music or symphony. Yeah. So but yeah it would have hurt PSG anyways. So it was either the option of being that risk versus losing some word of I think what
[00:15:51] I heard commentary to say a three secondish if he was to say stay out. So all in all I didn't think he lost money. He ended up behind nor is anyways and the whole McLaren set up would have still carried with that land or PS3 combination.
[00:16:09] They could have maybe been a P2 P3 finish. Yeah, but that's again. Would have been good. Shoulder. The good part though which I do want to call out is PS3 climbs up a spot in World
[00:16:24] Driver Championship putting Perez into P6 now and McLaren is just one point shy of Ferrari A and the world constructor championship so that's a beautiful going for Yeah, I think McLaren I think they have the goods but they don't know how to deliver it.
[00:16:48] You know pretty much just that. Yeah. And let's hope. Me? Are they it may be not and I'm over analyzing this but like they they they seem like someone who's who's building a parachute or building a plane as they are falling out of the sky
[00:17:03] and and you know they don't have the right bearings with them. They are at least going to land safely is what we are seeing. But they're not going to have that smooth plane landing with you know teams like Ferrari Sorry sorry sorry more CDs are red bull have.
[00:17:25] Yeah, I was like me. What's the right size? So you see that. That's talk about Ferrari's. Sorry. Turn one okay. Okay, I just want to start off with I saw the driver reaction video of Charles after the race
[00:17:40] and I was honestly heartbroken like the sadness that was you know oozing out of him. Because it was enough to make me depressed. It goes back to 40 point at our last episode which is boys used out all his luck at Monaco. It's done.
[00:17:56] Yeah, it leaves the new all over. And just pain from here on the throws so sad. I just don't understand that why why did it why did the put him on enters like it just doesn't make sense. Oh man, you know he said we can to forget.
[00:18:15] Which is fine. But I here and say this every weekend and I'm like do which weekend do you remember now? Because every weekend you've been just deleting out of your memory. What do you guys remember? The last memory he has. Monaco winning. And then 27th evening back here.
[00:18:38] Dude who are guy here? He climbed up all those laps, all those runs, all those positions. Only to go on enters because slightly visiting in the trains will come and whatnot. And this is close up cam on maxestires which I'm assuming is happening on all tires.
[00:18:59] His interiors was also gone all the way. And you could see like rubbed sort of like spreading out like shredding away. So the tire deck was invisible. By the time the rains came back he had to pit again and then obviously go back to slicks and you know,
[00:19:20] But here's the thing I mean he I think like the timing of the pit stop was what got to him. Because both science and lucklair had only three pit stops. It wasn't like lucklair cat like four or five or whatever.
[00:19:33] Right. So it's it's so beautiful to see hard breaking but beautiful to see that While with the same number of pit stops when you do that implying so much. So much that you just like lose all hope and think of suicide. So someone who can you some points.
[00:19:55] And like in the interview he was straight up like I don't even know what to say to come up. Come on to one of these things. That's just so sad one.
[00:20:07] One thing one thing that I think crofty said was so perfect like when they when he was out on interiors and they were not putting him again to like putting put him back on some slicks.
[00:20:17] Yeah. He was like this is the f1 equivalent of putting your fingers in your ears and going La la la la la la la la. He was that's so true. Oh, that's so true. That is true. That's just so perfect.
[00:20:36] I don't think you want to spend any other minute on Ferrari man. Let's talk about Red Bull man. Let's talk about some competency. Because he feels better. You talk about competency and then we're going to start talking about Perez. What irony is there in that sentence?
[00:20:56] My best moment for this ironical situation is the fact where Q1 Perez beaches his car and he's gone. He's in the muds or the gravel or whatever. And then it's cut to there's the red flag it and then there's cut to Christian Honour sitting
[00:21:18] in the pit wall and he knows he's on camera. He knows he's on cameras because as soon as he's he knows he's on camera, he just nods his head to show the visible disappointment. But he has. Right.
[00:21:34] And then did he notice the camera man like switching to Ricardo after that? What theater? What theater? You're a drama. She's a little so cool. But here's the thing. We've been saying and somewhere being confident that he had two-year contract renewal blah blah blah blah
[00:21:56] but there are talks and there are clauses and there are whatever whatever whatever. Perez replaced if there's in competency and to that factor. So that I mean read it somewhere I saw this that they might also consider replacing him after
[00:22:12] the summer break if things don't improve in the next two races. So yeah, I mean it's not all rosy for Perez. Obviously not if Hulkinberg has scored more points than you in the last two races than you have in the last six races.
[00:22:29] So yeah if Logan Sergeant finish up ahead of you. Oh, the D.S. did I hit it? Oh man it's sad it's sad and I think I've also heard that there's a clause. I'm pretty sure this is just some rumor milkshake that might not be true but
[00:22:49] what people are saying is that there's a clause that if he ends up lesser than 100 points from max by Belgian GP. They have a exit. That's an interesting one. He already is. He is in a deficit of 100. So unless he is beating max for the next few years.
[00:23:13] Bye bye. With Jeff Linney is not happening. Yeah I think it's Christian has had enough time to amperes security from the Mexican mafia by now that he's bold enough to do whatever needs to be done to get him out.
[00:23:29] Do if the cardor really makes, that's what the rumor is on at least. That sort of hurt that the cardamom it make it there. I really hope not. Yes I would rather want to know that then then totally. But he has the other thing as well right?
[00:23:45] So so there is a rules and regulation where if you need mechanical assistance to get you out of a carfuffle then you are not allowed to get back to the qualifying sessions. Now the point where this starts getting interesting is the first time per
[00:24:05] as beaches he's been told that it's over because you need to push out there's this radio communication where you know and as a driver you have to know this right? Right. All of that happens.
[00:24:23] And then red flag everyone's bag blah blah blah blah blah and then he's still still sitting in the car and he comes out on the radio and says the roads right there can't just push me. And like do it you've been told you are a driver.
[00:24:38] You know the regulations. Stop acting like a noob. Realize you fucked up and get out. And then the other part of the beauty is right at that same spot because the tracks drying up but the but the curve still has the dampness and the water right?
[00:24:55] So Max goes off. But he's hard enough to sort of like not spin but go through the gravel onto the runoff area and take the tarmac from there to join the exact time. Like this is this is again I don't have words to explain this. Oh and yeah.
[00:25:14] And then you say why you have a you have a favorite child obviously. Yeah. Exactly man but but let's let's give if we all credit to Red Bull for like strategy man. Like I think they called every shot perfectly because Max was nowhere for any
[00:25:33] contention for P2 very new old throughout the race. Max calling out that I'm very happy with P4 after quality says that they were no exactly. Exactly and for the most of the race he was a P5 like Russell right because of that he got a free
[00:25:49] but otherwise it didn't seem like anything that he might be able to gain. But that call of going on hards I mean was just masterclass man. That's such a change that is for him. Yes.
[00:25:59] And I don't know if like Ferrari probably just mimic Max because they did the same for science. So the only two drivers then doing this were science and and Max. Yeah, I don't know why they did it but yeah obviously the gamblers the right there.
[00:26:15] I think they're call was because they were running from what I hear they were running a load-own-force setup in this race. Interesting. So they were basically chewing through tyres because of that and I think basically they took it
[00:26:28] as if he's able to pull off some fast lads by really you know using up those hearts. Right. There's a chance of you know really making them work because that's what I think he did pretty much. Right. Right. Right. Turned out really awesome for me.
[00:26:44] I mean the chase was really awesome man very honestly like that I feel like today's race kind of showed why Max and Lewis champions. Yes. That's the great and that's the you know. Yeah.
[00:26:58] Racing intelligence I don't know if they call it like pacing it you know like no it's not about just thought one single overtake that yeah head of your team. Yeah. What are you saying right like this is a visible difference between
[00:27:12] the experience right like was Lewis gets asked the same thing on the radio and he says we're gonna stay out one more lab and then soots are the better choice we're gonna go for the sort.
[00:27:22] Like he calls the shots because of that experience right like which even Crofty talks about in what not but yeah. So yeah again like amazing and I saw this meme about Red Bull which was like it was a foot of Hanna Smith.
[00:27:37] It's like the caption was that we need to never for because she's too overpowered. Yeah. The real goal is actually her yeah. Totally. Yeah yeah yeah you have one driver lifting the entire championship for you know yours and yours and yeah man essentially better.
[00:27:58] And this is like the guy on in group projects which just was up for the final. My contribution in the project. Yeah dude essentially only got one position because he finished taking us the other two things. Yeah.
[00:28:12] So yeah man anyways there's some beautiful other mentions that that we gotta we gotta give out and for one obviously Hullock being the best driver of entire Ferrari squad. Out qualifying everyone. Unfortunately you didn't see the same in the race because science got the better
[00:28:36] of him but still nonetheless I did finishing what P6. And not appearing on the TV even once like they didn't show him at all. Not even yeah oh man. Are you getting like a minute of footage? I swear.
[00:28:52] But yeah I was speaking of science he did steal the fastest lap at least. Oh yeah. And so get some extra point there man. So now the I mean they again nobody shows him as much but ends up getting that final point P10 position. And P10.
[00:29:09] Albon milking villian. Oh man. Inside out man. You were to listen to the director. Yeah. That's why it's not ended up P10. Yeah finishing P9 wow. And what if for Sergeant? Yeah man. What a big best. This place. Yeah and best race result for his career.
[00:29:27] So Sergeant not being Sergeant. He's being perised or red bull. Let's not fall perised. Red bull. Yeah I look like I obviously also finishing P11 just a point out to him. Wow.
[00:29:41] Okay let's talk about this a little bit tangential but I heard you mentioned you dropped some new rumors. Oh literally. Yeah. Let's get this conspiracy train going and it's it's an interesting one. Folks if you're listening to this right. Let's let's get some traction on this one.
[00:30:01] So Jeremy Clarkson says Adrian newy has been house hunting in Oxfordshire. Now what's the first thing we do? We go back and see which teams have a headquarters at Oxfordshire. What do we find out? Lulia. Lulia. Williams. Wow.
[00:30:23] Why is this a new thing and why is there newy going to Williams? Sure maybe he's going there. So first of all if what Clarkson is saying is true. Maybe newy is going to Williams. Which means all the rumors of Ferrari or Ashton Martin. Not gonna fan out.
[00:30:43] What else is happening with Williams? Another rumor that science is probably gonna be there. Now why is science taking so much time to announce his shift? Well because maybe newy is not confirmed for Williams.
[00:30:58] So all in all it's looking brilliant for Williams if they can bag newy who's already house hunting in Oxfordshire. Science is waiting maybe for newy to confirm he's gonna go at Williams. If that happens, science is gonna then confirm he's going to
[00:31:18] and then the whole round Robin to be seasoned kick-soft. But yeah this is an interesting one that Clarkson's brought up with newy house hunting in Oxfordshire so we'll see where this one is going now. Yeah man I think it's going to be interesting.
[00:31:34] Yeah I think I agree with what you said that possibly science is waiting to see where newy goes right which makes sense. Why come at to a team right now when we wait and see Yeah yeah yeah but a brief mention of Ashton Martin I made in there.
[00:31:51] But uh good weekend for Ashton Martin as well. Stroh being ahead of a longso yet again for the second reason time. If I get where they finished I think it was a good p78 which troll leading of this. Oh yeah so I think yeah Ashton Martin.
[00:32:09] Yeah and this is the kind of performance that really confuses me about Stroll. I think and we have also mentioned this a couple times before that. It's always so weird like sometimes he really gives in these good performances.
[00:32:21] At the same time then other times he's just like nowhere they're just not even very driving this weird. In one of those men had an uh financial guys who's usually silently sitting behind his desk
[00:32:34] you know doing trading and whatnot and then once in a while he'll not cocaine and then goes to the wall over. So this is that cocaine phase of Stroll. That's right. Unless he's actually not did it but yeah. It's an accent. I love that like a re-intermediate. Yeah.
[00:32:53] Like I think recently we got I think this is like the second we're getting a story. Yeah it's very weird. Oh right. Yeah. Yeah yeah for global work for that. Well we are sweating but at least we are entered exactly. At least we are entered in precisely. Yeah.
[00:33:12] I love this one thing that I think Rofty mentioned during the race with us. Like that I think initially there were like so many radio messages from each team. Like informing their drivers that it's going to rain and so on. Yeah.
[00:33:24] And for some reason they decided to show every message to us like I don't know why we're weirdly. Crofty said that there's always a threat of rain 25 minutes of yet silhouettes in that funny. Yeah you care whether never predictably. Exactly.
[00:33:43] But man I've been loving so it's been a roller coaster for me personally. I feel like as when the season started I was bored. Oh man. I had given up like I had like completely. Already to shut this pot because down for a while. Yeah totally.

[00:34:15] What's interesting is it's been 729 days since back to back races where Max has not been the winner. And interestingly the combination has also been Austria and Silverstone. The last time this happened was Silverstone Austria in 2022. What's it now? It's been Austria and Silverstone 2020. Right. Okay.
[00:34:38] So there's yeah for the Nords out there. That's something. Yeah with that on that amazing weekend as British fans still come down from all the dopamine that's been to these than adrenaline that's the bitter taste that still in their mouth from the adrenaline rush that they've got. Yeah.
