[00:00:00] Welcome back to another episode of the MSME Growth Hub Podcast where a real-world business meets timeless wisdom. I am your host Abanibhusan Bera, AI-Driven MSME Growth Strategist and Sales Coach. Let me begin with a question that I often ask MSME founders during our mentoring calls. Do you have a clear 3-Year Vision for your business?

[00:00:31] Almost always the answer is a proud YES. But when I follow up with what exactly needs to happen in the next 30 days to move toward that vision? Silence! This my friend is the 3-Year Vision Trap.

[00:00:53] It sounds impressive to talk about Rs. 10 crore revenue targets, international expansion or fully systemized operations. But unless those big visions are translated into short-term execution clarity, they often become sources of anxiety, not aspiration. And this trap is widespread.

[00:01:21] Founders get so emotionally attached to long-term goals that they start measuring every day against that huge mountain. And when daily results don't match, they feel unproductive, overwhelmed or worse, stuck. In today's episode, we will uncover 1. Why your 3-Year Vision might be secretly holding you back?

[00:01:50] 2. A relatable use case from a manufacturing founder stuck in the loop? 3. What the Bhagavad Gita teaches us about goals, outcomes and purposeful action? 4. A practical framework to reset your clarity every 30 days.

[00:02:13] So grab your notepad or just walk along with me in your mind and let's decode the trap that looks like vision but actually blocks momentum. 5. A practical framework to reset your vision. So I will be dealing with this episode in almost 7 parts. Let me start with part 1 that is strategic inside the problem with big visions.

[00:02:43] Vision is important, no doubt. In fact, the lack of vision is one of the biggest reasons MSME stays stalking daily firefighting and tactical thinking. But there's hidden danger in over-investing emotionally in long-term goals. Here is why. 1. Big Visions Create Emotional Distance From Today

[00:03:08] When the only focus is where you want to be 3 years from now, it's easy to lose motivation when today doesn't match that imagined picture. 2. They Assume Linear Growth Most 3-year plans are made with the assumption that progress will be smooth. But MSME growth is messy.

[00:03:33] Clients churn, vendors delay, sales cycles shrink or expand. Without room for flex, the plan becomes a source of frustration. 3. They Don't Tell You What To Do Now A 10 crore vision doesn't tell you what to build, delegate, fix or improve this month.

[00:03:59] 4. Founders Tie Identity To Outcomes If I don't hit that 3-year target, I am failing. This pressure creates burnout, decision fatigue and sometimes even guilt for a sting. So what's the way out? 5. Clarity of Monthly Focus That's it.

[00:04:26] Break down your 3-year goal into 12 quarters. Then ask, what's the most important breakthrough this quarter? Then from there, what must we accomplish this month? Your 3-year vision should act like a lighthouse, not a scoreboard. It shows direction, not judgment. Let's bring this to life through a use case and that is my second part.

[00:04:55] It's Imaginary MSME Use Case for B2B Manufacturing Founder. See, you are the founder of a B2B manufacturing MSME in Gujarat, producing custom machinery parts for mid-sized industrial clients. You have been running for 8 years. Your revenue has plateaued around 1.2 crores per year.

[00:05:21] You dream of crossing 5 crores in the next 3 years. You have hired a consultant, made a vision board and even updated your website. But in the last 6 months, your sales follow-up rhythm has broken down. Inventory cycles are unpredictable.

[00:05:42] Your operations manager is overwhelmed and you haven't hired that sales engineer you planned for in quarter 1. The vision is clear but daily action is chaotic. Why? Because there is no monthly review mechanism, no 30-day focus reset, no short-term milestones aligned with the 3-year goal.

[00:06:08] In your mind, you are building a 5 crore business. But in your calendar, you are reacting to vendor delays, team errors and urgent client emails. Now imagine this instead. Every month begins with a founder clarity day. Then you define just 2-3 strategic outcomes for the next 30 days. Next, your team aligns around those.

[00:06:37] And finally, you track only what matters. Lead chain, delivery cycle, cash flow, buffer etc. In 90 days, momentum returns. You still have the 3-year goal but your power lies in what you do this month. Now let me delve on part 3 which is my favorite, the Vedantic insight anchoring in Karma Yoga.

[00:07:06] The Bhagavad Gita doesn't say don't have goals. It says don't get attached to the outcome. Karmanye vadhikarashtey maa phalesha kadachana. You have a right to your actions but not to the fruits of those actions. Now let's unpack that for an MSMV founder. The fruit is the 3-year goal.

[00:07:34] The action is what you must do this week. The attachment is when you link your self worth to outcomes. This is not about blind surrender. It's about intelligent detachment. The Gita teaches strategic detachment. Set your intentions. Choose your actions wisely. Release emotional dependency on outcomes.

[00:08:02] In today's business world, this wisdom is not just spiritual, it's strategic. Because when founders obsess over what should happen in 3 years, they miss the decisions they must make today. When you act with clarity and detachment, you build momentum without pressure. You lead your team with calm, not with stress.

[00:08:29] You operate from inner stillness, not outer noise. This is Karma Yoga in action. Now let's move to part 4 Founder's Mirror Deep Dive Reflection Questions Take a pause, reflect. Here are a few founder mirror questions that I would like you to journal, speak aloud or sit with in silence.

[00:08:57] 1. What's my current 3-year vision? And how emotionally attached am I to it? 2. When was the last time I translated this vision into 30-day outcomes? 3. Am I more focused on looking visionary or being effective? 4. Where am I confusing motion with progress?

[00:09:20] 5. What's one thing I can stop doing this month that has no clear link to my quarterly goal? These are not easy questions, but neither is the MSME journey. True growth begins when a founder is brave enough to look in the mirror, not just at the vision board. Now it's time for part 5 Expanded Action Framework Turning Vision into Rhythm.

[00:09:49] Let me give you a simple 4-step model to turn your 3-year vision into monthly execution clarity. 1. Quarter Map Break your year into 4 quarters. Define a one-line theme for each. As for example, Q3 Sales Engine Setup. Q4 Delivery Optimization. 2. 30-day Scorecard Every month list 3 outcomes.

[00:10:17] As for example, hire sales shed, create funnel, optimize inventory. And then 3 lead indicators. As for example, sales calls, delivery time, team reviews. 3. Weekly Standout Focus. Choose one high impact task every week. Just one. And protect it. 4. Friday Founder Review. Every Friday spend 15 minutes asking 3 questions.

[00:10:46] What did I create this week? Where did I drip? What is my focus next week? Small Moves, Big Momentum. Now it's time for part 6. Founder Clarity Model 3P System for MSMEs. Let me introduce the 3P clarity system a founder's self-coaching compass. 1. Purpose. Why this matters. Connect your goal to a personal why.

[00:11:16] Not just revenue but what it will enable freedom or family or impact. 2. Priority. What matters most now? What's the one area that's most broken or most ready to scale? Fix it before chasing everything. 3. Plan. What I will act on this way? No plan is equal to no clarity. No clarity is equal to no traction.

[00:11:43] Every time you feel overwhelmed, revisit your 3P clarity notes. It realigns your energy like magic. Now is the final part. Part 7. Encouragement and founder self-talk. Let me speak to you. Don't just as a podcast host but as someone who has walked the path. You don't need a grand vision to feel like a founder.

[00:12:12] You need clarity in the next 30 days. If you are waking up tired, losing motivation or doubting your ability, it's not because you lack tribe. It's because you are mentally living in a 3 year future without a monthly map. Come back to this month, this week, this day. You don't need to solve everything. Just the next right thing. That's power. That's progress.

[00:12:40] So here is my conclusion. Clarity, Karma and a clear future. The 3 year vision trap is real but you can rise above it. Use your vision as direction not destination. Use your monthly plans as action not anxiety. And above all, act with intention without attachment. Clarity is a new productivity. When founders see clearly, they act boldly. When they act boldly, momentum returns.

[00:13:11] And when momentum flows, transformation happens. Let the Gita guide your gauge and let execution be your prayer.
