Whether you're tired, distracted, or just “showing up,” this episode will help you rekindle your fire—and build from joy, not just effort.
[00:00:00] Namaste and Welcome to the MSME Growth Hub Podcast. I am your host Abanibhusan Bera, AI-driven MSME Growth Strategist and Sales Coach. Let me begin with a deeply honest truth I have seen in so many founders I have worked with and at times in myself also. You can grow a business you no longer enjoy and not even realize it.
[00:00:27] You keep showing up, you serve clients, you make money, but something is missing. The spark, the energy, the joy you once had. In today's episode, we will reveal that joy not by taking a break or running away, but by implementing daily rituals and mindset shapes that help you fall back in love with what you have built.
[00:00:57] Because the founder's heart is the heart beat of the MSME. Let's first understand why we fall out of love with our business. It's not because the idea was bad. It's because of the buildup of burden. Every founder goes through phases of doing tasks you no longer enjoy,
[00:01:25] serving clients who don't energize you, firefighting more than vision building, and operating more from should than want to. Add to that, Tim friction, market shifts, financial pressure, role confusion, and slowly the business you once loved becomes a structure you simply maintain.
[00:01:54] It's not burnout, it's emotional disconnection from purpose. And that's exactly what we will restore today with the right daily inputs. Here is an imaginary use case based on a real pattern I have witnessed. A founder runs a digital printing MSME supplying customized packaging to D2C brands.
[00:02:24] She started the business with joy. She loved the creativity, the impact, the partnerships. But after four years, she felt stuck. She was managing team issues, chasing payments, approving designs, dealing with machine breakdowns. Her mornings began in panic,
[00:02:54] evenings ended in fatigue. We worked on what I call a founder reconnection plan. Here is what she did. She installed three non-negotiable rituals. We will cover this next. Let go of one client segment that drained her. Took one week in the morning, every week for vision only work.
[00:03:19] Rebuilt her calendar to reflect energy first priorities. In 45 days, her team felt more positive. She delegated two training roles. She signed a collaboration she had put off for a year. And most importantly, she started smiling during work again. She didn't need a sabbatical.
[00:03:48] She needed structure around soul. Let's now explore the five daily and weekly practices to rebuild emotional connection with your work. 1. The Founder Morning Hour Start your day with your business, not in your business. Spend 45-60 minutes on journaling,
[00:04:17] strategy reflection, reviewing what excites you, and asking where is the joy hiding. Remember, the first hour sets your mental narrative for the day. 2. Energy vs. Drain Journal At the end of each day, answer two questions. What gave me energy today? What drained me?
[00:04:46] 3. After a week, review patterns. The goal, do more of what energizes. Create systems for what drains. 3. Thank you business practice. Once a week, write or speak three things your business has given you. Three people it has helped.
[00:05:12] 4. Gratitude Reconnects with Meaning 4. The One Small Upgrade Habit Every Friday, ask, what's one thing I can improve this week that will bring joy, ease, or clarity?
[00:05:43] Examples could be, delegate a repetitive task, write a better onboarding email, cancel a draining call, redesign your workspace. Why? Because progress creates pleasure. 5. Founder Reconnection Walk Once a week, take a 30 minute walk without phone or podcasts.
[00:06:11] Just ask, if I could rebuild this business today from scratch, what would I keep, kill, or change? That is KKC. Keep, Kill, or Change. Remember, silence reveals truth. Movement invites clarity. Falling back in love isn't about big changes, it's about small reconnections daily.
[00:06:39] Let's now shift from habits to headspace. Shift 1. You are Allowed to Change You are not betraying your business if you outgrow a part of it. Love evolves, so should your directions. Shift 2. Protect your creative joy
[00:07:02] Every founder has one thing they love. Designing, teaching, coaching, ideating, networking. Block sacred time every week for that one thing. Shift 3. Don't build a business that buries you. Ask yourself, is this version of my business serving me or consuming me?
[00:07:28] You don't owe loyalty to past versions of yourself. Shift 4. Don't chase growth that costs you. If every step toward more feels like less of me, pause. Shift 5. Don't be a part of your business. Because growth should feel expansive, not exhausting. Shift 5. Fall in love with who you are becoming.
[00:07:55] Your business is a mirror. If you reconnect with your growth, it will reflect that. You should remember, you are not just building a business, you are building you. In the Bhagavad Gita, chapter 6, verse 5, it says, One must elevate, not degrade oneself. The mind is both the friend and the enemy of the self.
[00:08:25] This verse reminds us, your business isn't outside you. It's an expression of your inner clarity. When your mindset is elevated, your work becomes devotional. When your mind is agitated, even your success feels heavy. To love your business again, first befriend your inner self. That's what rituals do.
[00:08:54] That's what reflection does. That's what silence reveals. Here is your founder reconnection plan. Day 1. Start your morning with journaling. Why did I start this? Day 2. Do the energy vs. train journaling. Day 3. Take a founder reconnection walk. Day 4. Cancel one training meeting or client. Day 5. Write a thank you note to your business.
[00:09:22] Day 6. Block two hours to work on what you love doing. Day 7. Design one small upgrade. If this helps you even 10%, you will feel a 50% energy lift. Let's close today's deeply personal yet practical episode. It's normal to drift but dangerous to ignore. You deserve to wake up feeling excited again.
