[00:00:32] In the NEET-UG row, CBI raids were held in Gujarat and five were arrested. Janata Dal United sought special status for Bihar and called for stringent action against exam paper leaks. US has sent Israel thousands of £2,000 bombs since October 7, two US officials revealed.
[00:00:58] A waste oil recycling firm was booked for polluting Periyar in the fishkill case in Kerala. Let's get into the details. Five soldiers of the Indian Army were killed in the Newmar Chushul area in Ladakh today morning.
[00:01:16] Officials said they were swept away while crossing a river in a T-72 tank near the line of actual control. The incident happened around 1 am in the Daulatbeg Oldie area, which is 148 km from Leh. The tank sank due to flash floods, which happened following cloudbursts in the higher reaches.
[00:01:37] All five bodies have been recovered. The Central Bureau of Investigation on Saturday conducted raids on seven locations in Gujarat in the NEET-UG paper leak case. The operation began in the morning at the premises of suspects spread across four districts which are Anand, Keda, Ahmedabad and Godhra.
[00:02:01] In connection with this case, the crime investigating agency arrested five persons. The NEET scam has created an uproar across the country and officials said that all the accused have been detained in connection with facilitating the alleged paper leak.
[00:02:19] The Janata Dal United reiterated its demand to grant special category status to Bihar during its national executive meeting on Saturday. Senior leader Neeraj Kumar emphasised the party's firm stance on this issue. He also suggested that the centre could explore an alternative approach through a special package.
[00:02:41] Bihar Chief Minister and JDO President Nitish Kumar, Union Ministers Lalind Singh and Ram Nad Thakur and other senior leaders from across the country attended the meeting held in Delhi. The party also called for stringent action against those responsible for exam paper
[00:02:59] leaks and advocated for robust legislation to prevent such incidents in the future. Since the start of the war in Gaza, the Biden administration has sent to Israel large numbers of munitions, said two US officials who recently briefed on an updated list of weapon shipments.
[00:03:22] This includes more than 10,000 highly destructive 2,000-pound bombs and thousands of Hellfire missiles. US has transferred at least 14,000 of the Mk 84 2,000-pound bombs, 6,500 500-pound bombs, 3,000 Hellfire precision guided air-to-ground missiles, 1,000 bunker-busted bombs, 2,600 air-dropped small diameter bombs and other munitions, according to the officials who were not authorised to speak publicly.
[00:03:55] While they didn't give a timeline for the shipments, the totals suggested there has been no significant drop-offs in US military support for its ally despite international calls to limit weapons supplies and a recent administration decision to pause a shipment of powerful bombs.
[00:04:15] A case has been filed against a private company for allegedly polluting Kerala's Periyar River. This comes weeks after environmental activists and locals protested against the company's illegal discharge of chemical effluents into the water, which threatened biodiversity.
[00:04:34] The State Pollution Control Board has also issued a notice to CEG Lubricants, one of several companies along the banks of the Periyar River, following the violation detected during recent patrols. Police and the Pollution Control Board adopted the tough stand against the firm
[00:04:51] amid a raging row over the recent mass death of fish in Periyar River. A police officer said a case was registered against the company based on a complaint from Shabbir, a local environment activist. That brings us to the end of this episode.
