[00:00:09] Hello, this is your Daily Dose of News from Onmanorama. I am your host Swati Ajat and these are the major news stories of Tuesday, January 14, 2025. Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal engaged in fresh salvo ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly election on Tuesday. Armed Admi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal claimed the upcoming Delhi Assembly election could reveal a hidden alliance between the BJP and Congress.
[00:00:36] Taking to social media platform X, Kejriwal reacted to criticisms from both parties. Reposting a tweet by Ahmed Malavia, BJP's National Information and Technology Department head, Kejriwal wrote in Hindi stating that he had said just one line about Rahul Gandhi and the BJP was responding. He highlighted how much it seemed to hurt them, adding that perhaps this Delhi election would reveal the partnership that existed between the BJP and Congress for years.
[00:01:03] At least six army personnel were on Tuesday injured in a landmine explosion in a forward village in Rajarro district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said. The troops were on patrol duty when one of the soldiers accidentally stepped over the landmine near Kamba Fort in the Naushera sector around 10.45am triggering the explosion, the officials said. They said the injured were immediately shifted to hospital and their condition was stated to be stable.
[00:01:27] As part of an anti-infiltration obstacle system, the forward areas near the line of control are dotted with landmines, which sometimes get washed away by rains resulting in such types of accidents, the officials said. Social media giant Metta is facing a summons over a parliamentary standing committee following remarks made by its CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, regarding the 2024 Indian general election.
[00:01:50] Nishikand Dube, BJP MP and chairman of the House Panel on Communication Information Technology announced that Metta would be called to answer for spreading misinformation. Misinformation about a democratic country tarnishes its reputation. The organisation will have to apologize to both parliament and the people for its error, Dubei stated in a post on X. In a podcast on January 10th, the 40-year-old Facebook co-founder stated that the COVID pandemic had caused a global erosion of trust in incumbent governments.
[00:02:19] However, he mistakenly referred to India as an example in this context. Defence Minister Rajanat Singh stated that Jammu and Kashmir remains incomplete without Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, cautioning Pakistan against running terrorist training camps in the region. He highlighted that the Lal Bahadur Shastri government in 1965 had the opportunity to end cross-border terrorism.
[00:02:42] Singh recalled that the India-Pakistan war of 1965 was fought in Ankhnoor, where India successfully thwarted the Pakistan army's efforts. He added that Pakistan has been prompting illegal infiltration and terrorism since then. The Kerala High Court granted bail to businessman Bobby Chaminnur in connection with a sexual harassment case filed by actor Honey Rose on Tuesday. The High Court bench led by Justice PV Kunji Krishnan granted a conditional bail following a review of the police report.
[00:03:10] Chaminnur was taken into custody by the Ernakulam Central Police in Vainar on Wednesday. The Ernakulam First Class Judicial Magistrate Court remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody on Thursday. That brings us to the end of this episode.
