[00:01:19] At least 54 people died due to heat stroke in different parts of the country since
[00:01:23] Thursday.
[00:01:25] These deaths were reported as the temperature soared past 50 degrees Celsius in parts
[00:01:29] of North India, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar this week.
[00:01:35] Fourteen people, including 10 Paul personnel, died of heat stroke in Bihar in the past
[00:01:40] 24 hours.
[00:01:41] Meanwhile, in Odisha, 10 people died of suspected heat stroke in Rao Kela city within
[00:01:47] a span of six hours.
[00:01:50] Donald Trump has become the first former US president to be convicted of a felony
[00:01:55] after a grand jury in New York found him guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business
[00:02:00] records.
[00:02:01] This is to cover up a payment to silence a porn star ahead of the 2016 presidential
[00:02:05] election.
[00:02:07] In a historic verdict, a panel of 12 Manhattan jurors said they unanimously agreed that
[00:02:12] 77-year-old Trump falsified business records to conceal a US$130,000 as hush money
[00:02:19] payment to the adult film star.
[00:02:22] The decision came after about a day and a half of deliberations.
[00:02:25] The conviction does not prevent Trump from standing in November's election, but he
[00:02:29] is almost certain to appeal against it regardless.
[00:02:35] Suspended JDS MP Prejul Rehwana, who is facing sexual abuse allegations, was arrested
[00:02:39] on Friday upon his return from Germany.
[00:02:42] This is a month after he left the country in the wake of explicit videos of his
[00:02:46] alleged actions during the rounds in Karnataka's Hassan.
[00:02:50] In a clear messaging by the SIT probing the allegations, a team of women
[00:02:53] police personnel received Prejul Rehwana upon his arrival.
[00:02:57] They were deputed to execute a warrant and take him to CID office for interrogation.
[00:03:02] He landed after evading summons and staying out of the country for a little
[00:03:06] over a month.
[00:03:07] The 33-year-old is the grandson of JDS supremo and former prime minister
[00:03:12] H.T. Deva Gowda.
[00:03:15] Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K.
[00:03:17] Shivkumar on Thursday claimed that a ritual involving animal sacrifice was
[00:03:21] performed in Kerala, targeting him, Chief Minister Siddharamaiah and the
[00:03:25] Congress government in the state.
[00:03:27] He said a Shatru Bhairavi Yaga was done after consulting Akhures.
[00:03:31] The state Congress chief, without revealing any names, alleged that some
[00:03:35] political people in Karnataka were getting it done.
[00:03:38] Meanwhile, Kerala's higher education and social justice minister R.
[00:03:41] Bindu said such things won't happen in Kerala, while also mentioning it
[00:03:45] should be examined whether such attempts are being made in the state.
[00:03:48] Polling is scheduled in 57 constituencies across eight states and
[00:03:55] union territories including Bihar, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand,
[00:04:00] Odisha, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal on Saturday.
[00:04:03] This will mark a grand finish to the world's largest polling
[00:04:08] that began on April 19th and already covered six phases and 486
[00:04:13] locks of our seats.
[00:04:14] The counting of votes will take place on June 4th.
