[00:00:19] Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan told Parliament on Friday afternoon that the Narendra Singh Modi government is committed to purchasing farmers produced at the minimum support price.

[00:00:29] His statement came just before farmers from the Samikita Kisan Morcha faction began their Delhi Chalo march.

[00:00:35] In an interview broadcast on Thursday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed the use of a hypersonic missile in the Ukraine war.

[00:00:44] He explained that the missile was intended to send a message to the West signalling that Moscow was prepared to use any means necessary to prevent a strategic defeat.

[00:01:42] His statement came just before farmers from the Samvita Kisai Morcha faction began the Delhi Chilo March.

[00:01:48] Over 100 farmers started marching from Shambhu on the Punjab-Harayana border today but were quickly met with multi-layered police barricades on National Highway 44, leading to a tense standoff.

[00:01:58] Just minutes before the march began, mobile network and bulk messaging services were suspended in parts of Ambala District until December 9.

[00:02:06] District authorities also banned gatherings of five or more people and ordered the closure of both government and private schools for the day.

[00:02:12] The protest aims to highlight farmers' long-standing demands, including a legal guarantee for the minimum support price, loan waivers and protection from rising electricity tariffs.

[00:02:22] Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview broadcast on Thursday said,

[00:02:36] Russia deployed the Oresnik hypersonic missile against the Ukrainian city of Nipro last month in what Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin described as the test of a missile he said could not be brought down.

[00:02:46] He said Russia could bring other such missiles into action in combat conditions if required.

[00:02:51] Lavrov said the West had refused to discuss upholding security guarantees for Russia

[00:02:55] in the weeks and months before the February 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine called a special military operation in Moscow.

[00:03:44] The ruling and opposed members traded allegations and angry words.

[00:03:48] The Kerala High Court criticised the centre and state governments for lack of clarity regarding the disaster relief and rehabilitation fund accounts

[00:03:55] in connection with the landslides that hit Vyanat in July this year.

[00:03:59] A bench of justices AK Jayshankaran Nambiyar and Mohamad Niasipi directed that the Finance Officer of the State Disaster Management Authority

[00:04:06] be present in person on Saturday to present the accounts.

[00:04:09] The court also posed several queries including how much funds were required for reconstruction and rehabilitation of the landslides hit areas of Vyanat

[00:04:17] and the amount of financial assistance to be provided by the centre to which it wanted answers.

[00:04:22] The queries also included how much was in the relief fund before the disaster,

[00:04:26] how much was available for use out of it and what portion of the amount allocated by the centre was utilised.

[00:04:33] The Supreme Court has granted bail to Malalama actor Siddik, who was accused in a rape case on Friday.

[00:04:38] The special investigation team probing the case arrested him on Friday following a two-hour interrogation at the Narcotic Cell Assistant Commissioner's office.

[00:04:45] The police also conducted a medical examination and a potency test.

[00:04:49] The bail conditions include a bond of Rs 1 lakh with a solvent surety and he is not permitted to go outside the state.

[00:04:55] Earlier in the day, the SID submitted a report to the Tiruvanthavaran judicial first-class magistrate,

[00:05:00] alleging to the lack of cooperation during interrogation and attempts to mislead the investigation based on evidence gathered so far.

[00:05:06] The report emphasised the need to direct question to evaluate the evidence thoroughly and ensure a fair investigation.
