[00:00:03] Welcome back to Bits and Bytes, the podcast where we dive into real-life dynamics of parenting.
[00:00:10] Have you ever noticed that parents behave differently from their children?
[00:00:16] Today, we are exploring various parenting styles through daily observations, whether at home or out and about. So let's start.
[00:00:26] The other day, I observed a mother-son interaction in my neighborhood park.
[00:00:31] The mother listens patiently to her son's request to stay a bit longer.
[00:00:36] Mama, please, thodi der khehlne do na.
[00:00:39] She negotiates additional playtime but also explains,
[00:00:42] Beta, dinner ka time ho gaya hai. We need to go home soon.
[00:00:46] Beta bhi khush, ar maa bhi khush.
[00:00:49] Have you encountered such parents?
[00:00:51] This is the authoritative parenting style and it's a balance of firmness and warmth,
[00:00:57] where rules are enforced but children's voices are also heard.
[00:01:01] Piyar ka tahta laga ke, sandhi varta yaani ki, sahamati se apni baat rakhna aur manwana.
[00:01:09] Kali mein eek shop par ek father-daughter interaction dhekha aur maine meri man mein eek khayal aya ki parenting style ko,
[00:01:17] is parenting style ko, is parenting style ko hum kya naam denge.
[00:01:19] Kya bata sakte hai?
[00:01:21] To who are you ki, the daughter reached out for a chocolate,
[00:01:25] but the father sharply pulled her hand away and firmly said,
[00:01:29] no sweets before dinner.
[00:01:31] Mainne pehle bhi mana kiya tha.
[00:01:33] Have you seen this strict approach?
[00:01:36] Is case mein obedience was expected without much room for questioning.
[00:01:41] Jo keh diya, mo keh diya. Bas.
[00:01:44] Heard this dialogue from a famous movie?
[00:01:47] Now imagine an opposite scenario where at a family dinner,
[00:01:51] the youngest child insists on eating desserts first.
[00:01:55] The parents after a few weak objections give in.
[00:01:58] Thik hai, le lo.
[00:02:00] Kya aapne aise hote dekha hai,
[00:02:02] ya aap bhi khud aise scenario mein give in kar dete hai?
[00:02:06] Isko kehte hai permissive parenting.
[00:02:09] Parents here tend to be lenient,
[00:02:11] allowing kids to set their own rules and avoid confrontation.
[00:02:15] Jo karna hai karo, bas zid mat karo.
[00:02:19] What about a busy cafe or home where a child is left alone with a tablet
[00:02:24] while the parent is engrossed in their phone?
[00:02:27] Aaj kal phone or work from home thoda sa hum sab ka dhyan baan diya hai.
[00:02:32] Ever spotted this scenario or been a part of it yourself?
[00:02:36] I would call it uninvolved or neglectful parenting.
[00:02:40] These parents provide little guidance or attention.
[00:02:43] Often due to their own overwhelming life stresses.
[00:02:47] Ham sab kaam ke bhot se behaal aur bachay ho jate hain badhaal.
[00:02:53] So maybe it's time to reflect on your own parenting style
[00:02:57] and maybe be a little bit more aware of your interactions with your kids.
[00:03:02] As parents, humara farz hai apne bachon ko ek achra environment deyna aur ek balance banai rakna.
[00:03:09] So that they can become the best versions of themselves.
[00:03:13] Parenting as they say is no easy task and there's no one size fits all approach.
[00:03:19] By being aware of these styles, we can reflect on our own behaviors and strive for a balanced approach that fosters both love and discipline.
