In her extremely moving talk, Svati Chakravarty, Director, Rubaru Roshni and Co-creator, Satyamev Jayate, takes us through a beautiful tale of emotion, loss and forgiveness. She emphasizes on the power that forgiveness and introspection can have in our lives, and how it can change the way we perceive stories and become a catalyst for positive change around us. The documentary shows three sets of incidences and provides perspectives from both sides. On one hand is the murderer’s fate while on the other hand is the family of the deceased. The documentary shows the outcome of what happens when the two sides meet.
Svati mentions how making Satyamev Jayate was a very difficult path for her to take. A personal loss was overcoming her and she was spiraling into a sense of retribution and revenge. Hence, began her hustle to find stories driven by truth. She now believes that every person has her/his own innate goodness and evil, it is on us as individuals as to how we feed it. Every murderer shows humanity if given an opportunity. The power of forgiveness is much greater than the thirst for revenge.
