For the FIRST time in the history of India, 25000+ survivors of rape and sexual violence came out on the streets and with the courage to fight back at the Garima Yatra - Dignity March. The aim of the march was to enable the empowerment of the survivors. Acknowledging that over 98 crore people in the country have faced sexual violence in different forms, Ashif then recalled a story of one such survivor from Indore. The community showed no encouragement to the victim for speaking up, rather defamed he further. Having faced marginalization in his childhood himself, he felt for this victim and her plight.
