Success is something I think about a lot. Why are some people successful why others are not?
[00:00.000 --> 00:30.000] Hey everyone, you're listening to Ankur Warikoo on Voice with Warikoo. On this podcast, I talk to you about entrepreneurship, how to grow in life, manage personal finances, handle failures, and a lot more things that just come to my mind. The episode begins.
[00:30.000 --> 00:37.440] Opportunities, the context, the conditions, are more or less the same because there has to be something that differentiates it, right?
[00:38.480 --> 00:45.840] So here's my thesis, and it's a two-part thesis. Part one, true success is when one realizes
[00:46.560 --> 00:52.800] that they have a purpose, a goal, or a mission that they're working towards, whether short term or long term.
[00:53.360 --> 00:57.120] So there's something that they're looking forward to, something that they wish to achieve, something
[00:57.120 --> 01:02.240] that they're striving for, something that they work towards every single day and it drives them.
[01:02.240 --> 01:07.680] Drives them to feel fulfilled, drives them to even feel disheartened at times, but they know
[01:07.680 --> 01:13.200] that it is work in progress and they are getting better. It could be, as I said, in the short term,
[01:13.200 --> 01:19.040] getting fit, making a little bit of money, or buying a certain car, or a certain house, or a
[01:19.040 --> 01:25.200] certain phone. Over the long term, it could be visiting that place, or resettling in a new country,
[01:25.200 --> 01:31.760] or getting married to someone, or buying that beautiful house, or just being happy.
[01:31.760 --> 01:41.920] Whatever it is, they are driven by something that is purposeful. That is the precondition
[01:41.920 --> 01:51.600] for anybody in this world to be successful, to feel successful. However, what ultimately gets
[01:51.600 --> 01:56.560] people to be successful, because it's not that there are people who don't have a purpose,
[01:56.560 --> 02:01.840] or don't want a purpose in life. Everybody wants one. The distinction, according to me,
[02:02.800 --> 02:12.400] is that successful people find their purpose on their own. I'll repeat, successful people who
[02:12.400 --> 02:20.000] feel successful within find that purpose, whether short term or long term, on their own.
[02:21.360 --> 02:26.480] Because they have the ability to find that on their own, they know they can depend on
[02:26.480 --> 02:32.400] themselves. The ones who don't feel successful are the ones who struggle to find a purpose,
[02:32.400 --> 02:37.840] and they have to rely on somebody else or something else to find that purpose, if at all
[02:37.840 --> 02:41.840] they're able to find one. So they don't know whether to trust themselves or not.
[02:41.840 --> 02:46.880] If they find themselves in a condition that is difficult, in an environment which is challenging,
[02:46.880 --> 02:51.200] they almost give up on themselves because they know they won't be able to come out of it,
[02:51.200 --> 02:56.480] because they have nothing to look forward to. And they don't have it within them to even find
[02:56.480 --> 03:01.280] what is it that they could look forward to, that they could work towards. But the successful
[03:01.280 --> 03:06.960] one, the one in their head who knows that they can rely on themselves, who knows that he
[03:06.960 --> 03:12.480] can keep the promises that he's making to himself, who knows that there have been several moments
[03:12.480 --> 03:17.840] in the past where they have been through perhaps even more difficult situations than this,
[03:17.840 --> 03:23.040] and yet they've emerged because they bet on that one person that they can always bet on,
[03:23.600 --> 03:29.680] themselves. And not betting that they will win, but betting that they can define what is it
[03:29.680 --> 03:34.080] that they want to work towards. And that's their distinction. If you look around,
[03:34.560 --> 03:41.040] there are people who are driven and driven because they are able to articulate in their head what is
[03:41.040 --> 03:45.360] it that they should work towards. And they work towards that. Irrespective of whether they win or
[03:45.360 --> 03:50.160] they lose, they always have something that they're working towards. And then there are people who
[03:50.160 --> 03:55.920] are always complaining, who are always languishing, who are always agonizing, who are always blaming
[03:55.920 --> 04:01.360] the other side because they don't know what it is to define purpose for themselves.
[04:02.240 --> 04:07.680] Don't be that person. Don't become that person. And if you are that person, change that bit about
[04:07.680 --> 04:14.000] you. Because if you believe that you can define what is it that you should work on, you will
[04:14.000 --> 04:22.320] never need anyone else. And you yourself, within yourself, will feel successful. All the best.
