[00:00:01] Hey everyone! You're listening to Ankur Warikoo on Voice with Warikoo. On this podcast, I talk to you about entrepreneurship, how to grow in life, manage personal finances, handle failures and a lot more things that just come to my mind. The episode begins.

[00:00:17] Our concept of discipline is frankly twisted. When we think of discipline as a word or we think of people who are disciplined, we usually imagine somebody who has the ability to conquer their hearts and their minds and do things that they do not wish to do.

[00:00:36] But somehow, they can get that thing done because they know that in the end all of this works out. So they're able to crush their immediate feeling, they're able to conquer their hearts, their minds and do things that they don't want to do

[00:00:53] just because they know it's right for them. But you know what? I have met a lot of disciplined people and what I see in them is far removed from this definition of discipline. For the disciplined individual, it frankly boils down to two very simple things.

[00:01:10] Number one, find out what works for me. Very important, for me. Find out what works for me. And number two, do that thing repeatedly. They recognize that getting to this point or finding out what works for me will take time.

[00:01:28] It will take an intense awareness of your own self. It will take trying out a lot of options before the one that works for them emerges. But they also know that once it emerges and it will emerge one day, they just have to repeat it.

[00:01:44] They just have to double down. And that is discipline for them. It isn't about them crushing their soul, them conquering their mind. Nothing of that grand nature. It is simply finding out what works for them and then doing it. Which brings me to another interesting observation.

[00:02:06] The discipline are often also looked at boring because they keep repeating the same things. They eat the same meals almost every day. They wear the same clothes almost every day. They have the same routine almost every day. And it seems like boring, but it's not boring.

[00:02:25] It actually works for them. They like it. They're doing it authentically. They're not forcing themselves. They enjoy this journey because they are the ones who have chosen this. They're the ones who have chosen to do this. And I would personally classify myself in the same category.

[00:02:40] I have the same morning routine every day. I eat almost the same food every day. I have a same set schedule, which also includes, by the way, set free time and doing things that are wasting time and all that. But all of this is also on repeat.

[00:02:56] And I love it because it works for me. I don't have to become somebody else to do it. I am being me. And that's what I want to tell you. You be you. When it comes to discipline, don't try to become somebody else.

[00:03:12] Don't try to pick up somebody else's routine, somebody else's habit, somebody else's way of doing it. You have to find out what works for you and go ahead and do that. Discipline isn't about convincing yourself to do things that you don't want to do.

[00:03:27] It is the ability to find out what works for you and then do that repeatedly. All the best. Thank you for listening to this episode of Voice with Varikoo. To be notified of upcoming episodes, be sure to subscribe and follow the show on this app right now.
