[00:00:57] Out of the news in no particular order, San Fran based Rippling has secured 200 million in series F funding, valuing the company at $13.5 billion. This brings total funding to $1.4 billion. Additionally, agreements were made to repurchase 590 million in equity from employees and investors.
[00:01:27] In case you missed it, Rippling promises to bring every application you need to run your business from applicant tracking and payroll to IT and expenses in one place. Founded in 2016 the company employs 3,007 people. The EEOC has urged a federal judge to allow a lawsuit against Workday to proceed.
[00:01:55] The lawsuit alleges that Workday's AI powered software discriminates against job applicants based on race, age and disability. The EEOC argues that Workday's software performs similar functions as traditional employment agencies making it subject to anti-bias laws. Workday denies these claims stating that customers control their hiring processes, not Workday.
[00:02:22] The lawsuit seeks damages and could represent tens of thousands of people. This case brings attention to concerns about AI discrimination and hiring with the EEOC warning employers to prevent discriminatory impacts. The Berlin-based Langdok has secured $3 million in seed funding with participation from Y Combinator.
[00:02:47] The platform enables companies to utilize large language models while maintaining control over their own data. Employees can chat with your internal knowledge base, automate workflows and build custom assistance. Founded in 2023 the company employs 10 people. The FTC approved a rule banning non-compete agreements preventing companies from restricting
[00:03:12] employees from joining competitors. This targets a practice affecting 30 million workers aiming to boost job mobility and economic growth. Legal challenges are expected, I'm sure. Bethesda Maryland based Keep Company has secured $1.4 million in funding. This spring their total to $2.2 million.
[00:03:37] The startup partners with organizations to give employees, moms, dads and caregivers the tools to integrate the care of themselves, their families and their work through group coaching. The investment will fuel expansion and new product launches. Founded in 2022 the company employs 20 people.
[00:04:00] McLean Virginia based ShiftMed has acquired Irving Texas based Careerstaff Unlimited, a per DM and contract managed service provider from Genesis Healthcare. This acquisition aims to enhance ShiftMed's healthcare staffing services offering an end to end digital solution. The deal includes an exclusive agreement to serve Genesis Healthcare facilities and
[00:04:25] maintains Careerstaff's brand and teams. Founded in 1989, Careerstaff Unlimited employs 950 people while ShiftMed founded in 2019 employs 1,129 folks. London based startup Tangent has raised $1.1 million. The startup aims to connect job seekers from low socioeconomic backgrounds with tech
[00:04:54] employees for mentoring and referrals hoping to level the playing field for those referrals. Founded in 2022 Tangent employs 73 people. New York based Greenhouse has appointed Paul Tajum as its new CFO. He joins the popular ATS bringing over 20 years of finance experience including roles
