[00:02:34] Anybody think I was going to be anything different. I thought that was an interesting ticker symbol to choose. Yeah, needless to say, although the stock did pretty well along with Reddit this week, although Reddit's coming back to Earth and I'm sure DJT will as well.
[00:02:50] It's a great money laundering scheme is what it is. I mean, I shared I was he they say they has to wait six months to be able to cash out in unless the board who are all his people say that he can go ahead cash out. So yeah, yeah, it's great ultimatum way to go Christine.
[00:03:07] And he thoughts on the Reddit IPO, I was really hopeful that it would sort of break the dam on IPOs which initially I thought it would and a lot of the pundits were saying so but it's coming back to Earth.
[00:03:20] Why would it break the why would it break the dam?
[00:03:22] I mean, it basically doubled this week and now it's coming back to Earth. But if any IPO that comes out that isn't Birkenstock and it's like tech and it does well, I like stripe is waiting to go public.
[00:03:35] I mean, there it's a message. Totally. So all of these people that I hear talking about like, you know, this is going to be it. This is going to happen. It's going to go to the moon. It's like, what?
[00:03:46] We're the fuck we're talking about AI. We're talking about some of the most fluid systems of today, velocity of tech moving so fast, not this. This is not it.
[00:03:57] This has nothing to do with all of the really cool conversations we've been having. So I don't understand why all these quote unquote pundits and again, I mean, I'm not giving out financial advice, but there's no way in fucking hell. I'm going to put my money into a 1979 Gremlin. It doesn't make any sense.
[00:04:13] And by the way, their users hate advertising and don't pay a subscription fee for anything. It doesn't make any sense. I agree. So although selling the data could be pretty profitable. All these LLMs that need content and stuff to use for learning happens. Guess what? All the people are going to to eject and there's not going to be any data to be had. So I mean, it's just again, you're it's a fucking message board dude with sub message boards. I mean, come on. This is this 1990s shit. We did.

Remember a few weeks ago when smart recruiters acquisition was fumbled. We called it botched but it was fumbled. My sources say that CEO Michael D. Simone is out and chief product officer Rebecca Carr is now the interim CEO for context. Michael was announced as CEO about a year ago April 18th, 2023.
[00:05:28] So I'm going to serve my is that the fumbled the botched whatever you want to call it acquisition might have been the last straw. So good luck to Michael. Sorry man shit like that happens wherever he lands, hopefully does well in good luck to Rebecca Carr because she's taking over a shit show right now getting into the head seat. I mean, it's it's very turbulent times at smart recruiters.
[00:05:51] One system that we used to see is kind of like new age applicant tracking system with all this new tech that's coming out and then the paradoxes and the shit, the the fountains and the herries and whatnot.
[00:06:03] I mean, they're really recreating what talent acquisition and talent management what not. And now she's got to take over this geloppy this grandma. I mean, good luck Rebecca. Good luck.

[00:06:39] There's no idea what's in sight for these companies. I mean, I see them smart recruiters greenhouse we've talked about hypos like there seems to be no end of the road that's that's positive for these ATSs and you can see it on the management teams but great scoop.

[00:19:07] years is a pretty long runway to end it for yeah for a platform that's not a
[00:19:12] vital platform it's not a vital point solution I you don't hear companies who

[00:19:46] contact veterans sources say starting April 2nd indeed is shifting to resume
[00:19:52] seats receiving 10 complimentary resume contacts a month for veterans down
[00:19:57] from unlimited outreach messages but wait there's more indeed is rumored
[00:20:02] to be sending letters to add agencies saying organic traffic in the US will no
[00:20:08] longer be a thing don't say we didn't warn you everybody Chad what are your
[00:20:13] thoughts and you might have some additional information as I know that your
[00:20:17] phone was ringing off the hook before the show yes definitely phone was
[00:20:21] blowing up late yesterday and today so on the veteran side of the house I
[00:20:26] mean it's to me that's a so what scenario they were doing it just for pop and
[00:20:31] circumstance and fluff in the first place not to mention you know companies
[00:20:36] have no fucking clue what they're looking at when they're looking at military
[00:20:39] resumes so yeah but to me all of this literally is nothing but a cry for help
[00:20:46] from indeed which is what we've seen CPA died CPSA died then they started
[00:20:52] the the whole tech community thing then they started the the indeed Japan
[00:20:57] there's just so much that they're doing right now they are throwing every
[00:21:01] piece of spaghetti don't forget John tracker the Android app that didn't succeed
[00:21:06] which all over the place right quit this to me especially the the taking
[00:21:11] away of organic is just another bid to soak companies for more money they're
[00:21:16] slowly pulling the plug on organic traffic starting in in the US all of my
[00:21:22] contacts have said get ready for organic traffic to go away entirely which means
[00:21:28] what indeed is once again moving toward a 1990s pay to play job board model
[00:21:34] with the only caveat being CPC right because CPC didn't exist in job boards in
[00:21:39] 1990s so literally they went from a job search engine and they've reverted I
[00:21:44] mean they've literally regressed back into a job board model recruitment at agencies
[00:21:49] have been instructed due to these changes if your clients jobs are receiving
[00:21:54] less traffic from the free organic well you should probably sponsor jobs yeah no
[00:21:59] shit sure luck indeed also pitching this is really just a rebalancing of
[00:22:06] traffic so obviously free has gotten too much and they needed to get more
[00:22:13] payment on clicks they needed to push more people to clicks so from my
[00:22:18] standpoint this isn't really a rebalancing this is an old platform that they
[00:22:22] tried and again rumors that I've heard they've tried to put a ceiling on the
[00:22:27] number of apps candidate applications on free jobs it didn't work they
[00:22:34] couldn't make that work so I guess this old dog just isn't going to hunt what
[00:22:39] do you think about the whole CPC thing it's not surprising not to mention
[00:22:44] I don't think many recruitment at agencies that aren't a part of
[00:22:47] programmatic are going to care because this is just going to drive up their
[00:22:51] revenues to 60% of the time it works every time my take on this is we've seen
[00:22:57] this story before part one was called career builder when private equity
[00:23:03] moves in to any significant degree which it did with indeed this is what
[00:23:08] happens they take they sharpen the pencils they they swear we where we
[00:23:13] wasting money where can we make more money where can we cut costs trim fat
[00:23:18] etc that's kind of what we're seeing like how do we make the most off paper
[00:23:23] click how do we cut out free stuff how to make more money on contacting
[00:23:28] vets as a veteran I'm a little surprised you don't care about that but that's
[00:23:32] cool that's your progative so it's like how do make more money how do we cut
[00:23:37] more costs and this is what we're saying and mark my words layoffs are
[00:23:42] coming layoffs are coming to indeed at some point in a significant way
[00:23:47] and this is just the the the canary in the coal mine is all this sort of how
[00:23:52] do we milk as much profit as we possibly can you know the challenge to me they
[00:23:58] just had an investor meeting I think and that they they published online
[00:24:01] there's articles if you guys are interested you know they're indeed is so
[00:24:05] concerned about the transactional nature of job search like how do we make
[00:24:11] applying easier how do we like the problem with job search isn't that it's too
[00:24:16] hard it's at it might be that it's too easy but the transactional nature of
[00:24:20] it is to me not a winning strategy for indeed because programmatic is going to
[00:24:25] out transaction probably anything that indeed does it needs to be more personal
[00:24:31] than transactional we both knock on LinkedIn a lot and I think fairly so on you
[00:24:38] know related jobs and jobs for you and things like that the one thing that
[00:24:42] indeed gets or that LinkedIn gets right is if you search for a job on LinkedIn
[00:24:47] it will show you who you know at the company yeah first degrees I would school
[00:24:52] this person maybe I'm second degree and they know somebody I know because if
[00:24:57] you learn anything from his kids it's not necessarily what you know it's who
[00:25:00] you know and the transactional nature of indeed and other job sites like
[00:25:04] takes a lot of that personal stuff out of out of the equation LinkedIn secret
[00:25:08] sauce is the people that are on the site and I know you don't engage with it but
[00:25:13] when people change jobs look for jobs they're good they go to LinkedIn so that
[00:25:18] network is powerful and it does help people get jobs so LinkedIn to me we're just
[00:25:24] a cost-cutting efficiency game at indeed right now and maybe an IPO is coming
[00:25:30] in the future when they maximize profits to echo your sentiment it's more
[00:25:35] spaghetti at the wall it's more like fear they're driven by fear and what Google's
[00:25:42] doing what appcast is doing and so it's just more being unfocused maybe they are
[00:25:48] more focused but in the wrong places and we're going to see more craziness from
[00:25:53] indeed way to the layoffs come though so what I'm hearing is they should buy
[00:25:58] poly work they should buy step stone and then step stone should buy career builder
[00:26:02] all right all right so one of the things that they actually said during their
[00:26:07] virtual investor update was the global HR matching market composed of job
[00:26:13] advertising and talent sourcing direct hire retain search and turn a
[00:26:17] recruitment automation and temporary staffing pretty big is almost $330
[00:26:22] billion right the search engine opportunity only represents a portion of that
[00:26:27] about about 10% right coming in at just over $295
[00:26:33] billion the global marketplace total addressable market reflects
[00:26:38] the remaining 90% so the HR matching market the thing that they're trying to
[00:26:44] go after and again I just don't see it because they don't have the technology
[00:26:49] unless they actually rebuild infrastructure they can't get it done they're matching
[00:26:53] it shit they're they don't have a network to be able to lean on like like
[00:26:58] LinkedIn does right everything that they could have built and or acquired by
[00:27:03] this time they just haven't right in it just it drives me crazy you see a company
[00:27:09] with this much fucking money they have tried to go down funnel and they've
[00:27:14] done a shitty job of it they had they have an interviewing platform that just
[00:27:19] fucking flopped right and they they've pretty much given up on it you can't you've
[00:27:24] got to double down and find out what the issues are and you've got to go down
[00:27:27] funnel I just these guys I don't know who the fuck is running the ship over
[00:27:32] there but I've said it and I'll say it again Chris Himes needs to fire
[00:27:35] himself I love that their new motto is simplify hiring and they own
[00:27:40] simply hired like I don't know if that was planned or or what that is you
[00:27:45] know in between you and I cabbage patching and doing the running man in between
[00:27:50] K-bo stance at the e-congress conference and Amsterdam there was a sentiment
[00:27:56] of like people won't search for jobs anymore jobs will find them and it seems
[00:28:01] that indeed is in this sort of misdirection of reinventing what they do and
[00:28:06] I'm not sure they should smoke give me a box let me put in some keywords
[00:28:10] let me go to a site and apply like back to basics wouldn't be the worst thing
[00:28:15] of the world for this company they're not Google they don't have the resources
[00:28:19] it's not that hard to be able to screen up front screen to ensure that people
[00:28:24] are qualified before they actually go on to apply which means you can charge
[00:28:29] for that click because you know that they're a qualified candidate

[00:32:01] and through an in any way it's HR power it's AI powered HR assistant which
[00:32:07] automates onboarding management and payment processes for international team
[00:32:12] members and can answer employment law finance and tax queries in 170 languages
[00:32:19] that's a few jobs that's a few people that do those jobs at companies what's
[00:32:23] more powered by Nvidia your boy this Hippocratic AI has raised $53 million in
[00:32:30] series a funding bringing its total to 120 million dollars with evaluation of
[00:32:36] $500 million I think digital nurses who can answer your colonoscopy questions
[00:32:43] pre and post surgery health care everything HR AI is coming for everyone Chad what are
[00:32:51] your thoughts yeah so right on the gate the Hippocratic holy shit dude did you watch
[00:32:56] the demo there's an AI discharge nurse who's following up after a surgery and
[00:33:01] they actually take a call it's amazing and it's incredibly fluid the estimated
[00:33:06] cost of this nurse discharge nurse her name is Linda that that's around $9 an hour
[00:33:14] again not cheap although you've got to remember Linda can scale the bottom
[00:33:19] to can scale where the human Linda can only do one call at a time right so
[00:33:24] this just makes a hell of a lot of sense plus you you said the magic word in
[00:33:29] video I mean Nvidia's in Amen it was I was I was impressed I was very
[00:33:34] impressed with just the demo that they had and you take a look at borderless I
[00:33:39] mean what perfect timing to play off the successive deal and their latest
[00:33:43] acquisitions and reporting that they are enjoying 500 million in ARR borderless
[00:33:48] touts that they do payroll benefits taxes compliance all that boring shit
[00:33:53] that nobody wants to do right and they've got the AI agents what you talked about
[00:33:58] I think from from our standpoint nursing is distressed they need help so
[00:34:04] therefore here comes AI on the HR side there's so many bullshit administrative
[00:34:10] tasks here comes AI right I don't see it taking jobs as much as I see it
[00:34:15] taking tasks that take those humans away from what they need to be doing and
[00:34:20] that's being more human and working with other humans and employees and so in
[00:34:23] patients and so on and so forth so to me this is all exciting this block just
[00:34:29] watching in listening and learning about what's happening in AI what then
[00:34:35] watching some of those things start to bleed into our space I say a year after
[00:34:40] year after year and it's still true this year is the most exciting year in the
[00:34:44] space ever period there's a big word just getting better so not only can
[00:34:49] Linda help me figure out what this bump on my asses she can also tell me
[00:34:55] what my vacation a PTO time is for this year so the digital clones are coming
[00:35:02] for for every opportunity you know I think you know to your point we've done
[00:35:08] two conferences this year already and the question are we are all of our jobs
[00:35:14] gone is it is a typical theme at these conferences and it's to me it's
[00:35:21] amusing how much experts dance around the issue of no we're not losing
[00:35:27] jobs or only people who don't know AI are losing their jobs or no you just have
[00:35:34] to know AI to augment your your job honestly no one probably knows the answer
[00:35:40] but I find it hard to understand where there's not a world where there are fewer
[00:35:45] people doing some of these jobs you just I don't think you'll need as many
[00:35:49] people now you'll have to have people that understand how to use this shit and do
[00:35:54] it well I don't think it's just going to be a magic wand and all these things are
[00:35:57] done that's just unfortunately not the case for anything but the point is this
[00:36:02] it's coming and we got more stories about this and next week we'll have more
[00:36:05] stories in the week after that we'll have more stories not going away by the
[00:36:09] me so robotics the flippy company they got new there's still rock and we don't
[00:36:14] talk about them much but they're still doing their thing my concern is that
[00:36:18] there's a lot of other listeners because if there are more recruiters and there are
[00:36:22] more vendors doing this like I think I think we've got a few years before we have
[00:36:26] to start worrying about that we got a few years which means our advertisers

[00:37:27] channels on your on your TV set but immigration is kind of a big big story
[00:37:33] not only here but around the world it's go it's a scary yeah so wall street
[00:37:39] journal story recently kind of clarify that it's maybe not awful the story
[00:37:45] says despite despite the debate around the merits of the current levels of
[00:37:50] immigration economists at major firms on wall street argue it has been a major
[00:37:55] boon for the economy and added trillions of dollars to us gross domestic
[00:38:01] product the benefits of this influx have not escaped the attention of policy makers
[00:38:05] such as federal reserve chairman j pal who say him who say migration has
[00:38:11] boosted employment field consumer spending and eased post pandemic labor
[00:38:16] shortages my god Chad let's all get off the ledge for a second what are your
[00:38:21] thoughts I think balance is key there's no question but we've got to ask
[00:38:25] ourselves these questions does productivity stall when vital roles aren't
[00:38:32] all of course they are productivity plummets will roads pave themselves no
[00:38:38] well packages deliver themselves no not today we can't keep pace and drive an
[00:38:47] economy if our infrastructure is warned in our products are not being created
[00:38:51] delivered in service and that's a problem right so you're talking about you
[00:38:56] you're your friend what what should they do they should look for the gaps immigrants
[00:39:01] are filling the gaps in our workforce economy by filling positions and driving
[00:39:06] productivity also in some cases immigrants are performing jobs that Americans
[00:39:12] just won't do but we need to get them done they have to be done so they are
[00:39:17] filling the gaps last but most importantly this is a more on a somber note
[00:39:21] but immigrants are performing dangerous jobs like working construction on the
[00:39:26] frances Scott key bridge in Baltimore where the latest report notes all the
[00:39:31] construction workers killed when a container ship struck the bridge and it fell
[00:39:36] they're all immigrants so as we want to build a wall and we want to vilify
[00:39:42] and we want to talk about murders and rapists and all that other stuff we have
[00:39:46] to remember there's a balance there yes we do have to do something about immigration
[00:39:51] um it can't be a free flow that's very hard but what we need to do is we need to
[00:39:56] understand that there is a need from our standpoints and they're filling those
[00:40:01] gaps and they're driving the economy and they're probably making half that of
[00:40:06] what American would make in that in that position fill the gap Chad fill the gap
[00:40:11] what are you doing step bro I enjoy flipping from Fox to MSNBC and the
[00:40:19] perspective on that the the border on each is very very different I look
[00:40:23] I guess I don't disagree that there's some issues at the border there's people
[00:40:27] come on like I think there's a concerted effort to like fuck shit up the fentanyl
[00:40:32] thing is real those drugs coming into the like that's a thing but the bigger
[00:40:38] picture is uh America needs people I know you like to talk about the world needs
[00:40:43] less people um and that's that's fine if productivity if productivity the
[00:40:48] earth would love us so much more here there we have systems in place that
[00:40:54] rely on more people at the bottom of the pyramid than there are at the top
[00:40:59] the pyramid and that's becoming inverted depending on what country you're in
[00:41:03] and that that creates some real problems we need people to make shit we need
[00:41:07] people to buy shit we need people to support the things that we do in this
[00:41:11] country and if we're not having babies the way that we use to those people need
[00:41:16] to come from somewhere frankly as American we should be pretty happy
[00:41:20] that we're a place that people want to come because there are a lot of places
[00:41:24] in the world that people do not want to migrate they do not want to go like
[00:41:28] America is still a place where the perception is if I work hard I obey the law
[00:41:35] I will have a better life and my children will have a better life and we will you
[00:41:40] know we will be citizens that are a plus instead of a minus on society
[00:41:46] and that is still the majority of people that are walking through war zones
[00:41:51] and fighting famine and disease and full families coming to this country because
[00:41:57] they think there's a better life here in many cases that there is so let's stop
[00:42:01] vilifying immigration yes there are problems to fix their gaps to fill as you
[00:42:06] say but this is going to this is the number one issue in our country
[00:42:10] this will be the presidential election if it were held today this would be
[00:42:15] the number one issue on the ballot and I think that vilifying it has been horrible
[00:42:20] by and large these are really good people that are struggling that want to come
[00:42:23] to this country make be productive and be a plus on it and we need to stop
[00:42:29] focusing on the five or whatever percent that want to like burn the whole place
[00:42:33] down amen amen let's question is next will cars build themselves go ahead
[00:42:39] will cars build themselves yes let's go back to bots killing all of us
[00:42:44] so back in January report surface that BMW South Carolina plant would be testing robot
[00:42:51] workers fast forward to today and it looks like those rumors are true we're seeing
[00:42:57] ticktocks and other social media pundits show videos of a robot that looks
[00:43:03] is has arms and legs like a human it interacts with the human being who says
[00:43:09] I'm hungry what would you give me and there's an apple on the table so the robot
[00:43:14] knows apple give to the table it puts it could it'll put dishes in racks it will
[00:43:21] like it sort of is I mean I will say it's like it kind of knows it can kind of
[00:43:27] process the stuff and BMW is putting this stuff putting these robots in its
[00:43:32] factories yeah to build cars your thoughts on the impending robotic take
[00:43:39] over Chad yeah my cousin works in that plant so yeah he works in that plant
[00:43:45] yeah he's worked there for well over a decade probably two decades and I
[00:43:49] asked him I'm like are you worried about this is like hell no we can't find people
[00:43:52] in the first place so you know it's again it's the it's the immigration it's
[00:43:57] the balance it's all of this and as we start to take a look at some
[00:44:02] companies who are you know paying immigrants underneath the table which means no
[00:44:08] taxes right then we have AI and robots taking jobs what about the taxes there we're
[00:44:13] going to have to restructure how we deal with the border how we deal with
[00:44:17] taxes what jobs actually look like are they remote are they hybrid are they
[00:44:22] this are they that we have a lot of work to do and we can I don't think it's
[00:44:27] it's it's smart and or safe for us to hope that politicians make the right
[00:44:34] decisions there right I think as experts in the space we need to definitely
[00:44:38] have these conversations we need to have more of these conversations to ensure
[00:44:42] that you know dumb decisions aren't made moving forward right they need to
[00:44:47] have the adults in the room I couldn't help but watch and wonder how long it'll
[00:44:52] be before an affordable robot is on the market that can clean my toilets on a
[00:44:57] regular ongoing basis but that's just me talking about Christine giving you an
[00:45:01] ultimatum of of why leaving your own toilet let's not talk about what Christine
[00:45:07] is giving me or not giving me Chad so so part of me wants to temper my fear
[00:45:13] slash enthusiasm for this stuff I mean we've been talking about self-driving cars
[00:45:17] for over a decade it doesn't seem like they're going to be on the market anytime soon
[00:45:21] Elon still pushing Google Google is Google's creating pictures of black Nazis on
[00:45:27] their AI stuff so a lot there's a lot of work left to be done but then but then
[00:45:33] I think about the famous Ernest Timmingway quote when they asked him how he
[00:45:39] went back rubbed his comment was two ways slowly and then all of a sudden so I
[00:45:47] feel like this thing keeps building it's flipping burgers it's making tacos
[00:45:54] it's you making cars one of these days we're going to look up and it's this
[00:46:00] stuff is going to happen quickly because it's passed all the regulation stuff
[00:46:04] or it's finally hit a tipping point of evolution and the robots are going to be here
[00:46:11] I don't know when but at some point it's going to happen quickly and we're going to look up
[00:46:15] and go holy shit robots are everywhere they're doing a lot of stuff
[00:46:19] my only concern is the speed at which this is going to happen human beings aren't
[00:46:23] built to scale like this you know when the car was introduced it took decades
[00:46:29] before the car like fully became the car right people had some time to adjust
[00:46:34] I think you be eye has to be on the table at some point people are displaced they're
[00:46:39] going to have to have some sort of a welfare upscaling education like
[00:46:44] educational resources we're going to have to really rethink how we're training our
[00:46:48] people and taking care of our people but if this is going to happen it's just a matter
[00:46:53] of when and get yourself ready get yourself on LinkedIn learning and get
[00:46:57] them badges people because you're not going to have to have some new skills
[00:47:01] or learn to podcast or some shit something that doesn't take some of those
[00:47:05] take a lot of intelligence just become a become a podcaster
