Yuvanashva – The Pregnant King

In the lineage of Purajnjay after many generations, Yuvanashva became the king. Yuvanashava had a hundred wives but no son. In order to produce an heir, he went to live in the Ashram of Bhrigu rishi with his wives where they performed a yagya for Devraj Indra. One night a thirsty Yuvanshava accidently drank the enchanted water from the yagna meant for his wives. As a result of that Yuvanashva became pregnant. Later Bhrigu rishi cut open the belly of King Yuvanashva to give birth to a baby. Indradev himself visited to witness the birth of this unique child. When the child started crying due to hunger, Indra put his finger in his mouth to calm him, saying, “Mam Dhata.”; thus, giving the name Mandhata to the baby. Learn more about your ad choices.
