Ancient name for the Kosi river is Kaushiki. She was the daughter of king Gadhi and elder sister of Brahmarshi Vishwamitra.
She was married to Richik muni, son of Bhrigu rishi and was mother of Jamadagni rishi and grand-mother of Bhagwaan Parshuram.
