00:00:00

Speaker 1: losing excess body fat, building muscle and strength and becoming

00:00:03

Speaker 1: a fitter, stronger and the best looking version of yourself.

00:00:07

Speaker 1: Those are all great benefits. Fitness can get you, but

00:00:10

Speaker 1: fitness is much more than that. It can be an

00:00:13

Speaker 1: excellent part to personal development. And that is what we

00:00:15

Speaker 1: are talking in this episode.

00:00:17

Speaker 1: Hello and Namaskar. Hope you're doing great today If you

00:00:20

Speaker 1: are a first time listener. Welcome to the Stronger Men Project.

00:00:54

Speaker 1: Encourage me to continue doing this and if you also

00:00:57

Speaker 1: leave a feedback for improvement,

00:00:59

Speaker 1: it will help me come up with higher quality episodes.

00:01:02

Speaker 1: Thank you again for tuning in. Now let's move on

00:01:05

Speaker 1: to today's topic.

00:01:08

Speaker 1: In the last five years, as a fitness coach and

00:01:11

Speaker 1: helping over more than 800 people in their fitness journey,

00:01:14

Speaker 1: I have realised one thing. The people who get the

00:01:17

Speaker 1: best results in their fitness journey

00:01:20

Speaker 1: end up finding more benefits than just losing weight and

00:01:23

Speaker 1: getting in shape. Of course, that is where most people start.

00:01:27

Speaker 1: They are frustrated with excess belly fat, and they want

00:01:30

Speaker 1: to look good. Or there are people who are skinny

00:01:32

Speaker 1: and weak, and they want to get in great shape

00:01:34

Speaker 1: and build some mass and become stronger. But the people

00:01:39

Speaker 1: who actually get results and stick with fitness lifestyle for

00:01:43

Speaker 1: long enough period of time will realise that it is

00:01:46

Speaker 1: not just about those things.

00:01:48

Speaker 1: It is about an overall personal improvement and how fitness

00:01:53

Speaker 1: helps you in becoming a better version of yourself, not

00:01:56

Speaker 1: only physically, but mentally and emotionally. That is what we'll

00:02:01

Speaker 1: talk about Now.

00:02:03

Speaker 1: The number one thing about fitness is that if you're

00:02:06

Speaker 1: only looking to lose weight or looking for some magical

00:02:10

Speaker 1: solution to get out of your current physical state, then

00:02:14

Speaker 1: it will not work. It takes more than that. For that.

00:02:17

Speaker 1: You have to become a different person. For that, you

00:02:20

Speaker 1: have to become a fit person. A fit person is

00:02:22

Speaker 1: someone who will always make the right choices, which will

00:02:26

Speaker 1: take him to his goals. That is,

00:02:29

Speaker 1: he will exercise regularly. He will eat the right kind

00:02:32

Speaker 1: of foods. He'll eat the right quantity of food. He'll

00:02:35

Speaker 1: also take care of his routine and be disciplined and consistent,

00:02:39

Speaker 1: and he is focused on his goal. Only then he'll

00:02:42

Speaker 1: be able to reach his goal. And this in itself

00:02:46

Speaker 1: is a major personal improvement for most people. And when

00:02:50

Speaker 1: that happens, so many other things happen. And also a

00:02:53

Speaker 1: person learns so many other lessons. Let's start with the

00:02:57

Speaker 1: first one that is confidence.

00:02:59

Speaker 1: Confidence comes with two things. The way you look. If

00:03:04

Speaker 1: you're in a better shape, you'll be more confident around

00:03:07

Speaker 1: other people. That is something which happens naturally. Apart from that,

00:03:11

Speaker 1: in order to reach that state, you'll have to put

00:03:13

Speaker 1: in work right. You have to exercise regularly. You have

00:03:17

Speaker 1: to change your lifestyle. You have to change your eating habits.

00:03:20

Speaker 1: You have to have a healthy routine and you have

00:03:23

Speaker 1: to be consistent and it takes a lot of work.

00:03:26

Speaker 1: It is a hard work,

00:03:27

Speaker 1: and whenever you put hard work and get results, that

00:03:31

Speaker 1: increases your belief in yourself. And that is what gives

00:03:35

Speaker 1: a person confidence. Confidence is nothing but is to have

00:03:38

Speaker 1: belief in yourself, and it comes only with taking action

00:03:41

Speaker 1: and getting results. And if you get results in fitness,

00:03:44

Speaker 1: your confidence will surely reach the skies and it overflows

00:03:48

Speaker 1: into other areas of life and you do better in

00:03:51

Speaker 1: other areas of life. Also,

00:03:54

Speaker 1: the second thing that fitness teaches anybody is to have

00:03:58

Speaker 1: discipline and self restraint,

00:04:01

Speaker 1: because if you get results in your fitness, that means

00:04:05

Speaker 1: you have to restrain yourself. You have to control your

00:04:07

Speaker 1: eating habits. You have to exercise regularly in spite of

00:04:12

Speaker 1: not feeling like exercising, and you have to put efforts consistently.

00:04:17

Speaker 1: Only then you will reach the results

00:04:19

Speaker 1: and if you don't become disciplined, you'll most likely quit.

00:04:23

Speaker 1: And it's very unfortunate that most people who start into

00:04:26

Speaker 1: fitness will quit at some point of time. But believe me,

00:04:30

Speaker 1: the only thing you need to do is to stick

00:04:33

Speaker 1: around for a long enough time. It's OK to miss

00:04:35

Speaker 1: your exercise for one or two days. It's OK. If

00:04:38

Speaker 1: you don't control your diet for one or two days.

00:04:41

Speaker 1: It's OK if you over

00:04:42

Speaker 1: on some days it's OK. If you don't sleep well

00:04:44

Speaker 1: on some days, it is fine, but you have to

00:04:47

Speaker 1: understand it's a long term game and nobody became fit

00:04:50

Speaker 1: in one day or two days or two weeks. It's

00:04:53

Speaker 1: a long term game. It takes months and months and

00:04:55

Speaker 1: years together. And it's a lifestyle you adopt and something

00:04:58

Speaker 1: which you do for lifelong. And when it comes to

00:05:01

Speaker 1: lifelong things,

00:05:02

Speaker 1: it will not be ideal on each and every day

00:05:05

Speaker 1: there'll be some places you'll miss. Some days you'll undershoot.

00:05:08

Speaker 1: Some days you'll overshoot. It's all part of life, so

00:05:11

Speaker 1: that's my take on discipline. And if you want to

00:05:15

Speaker 1: be fit, you will have to be disciplined and it

00:05:18

Speaker 1: will definitely come if you spend enough time.

00:05:21

Speaker 1: The third lesson, What fitness teaches is that hard work

00:05:25

Speaker 1: will not always guarantee results. Why I say this is

00:05:28

Speaker 1: because I have seen so many people who are putting

00:05:31

Speaker 1: hard work consistently for a long period of time, but

00:05:35

Speaker 1: still they don't get results. That is because they're putting

00:05:39

Speaker 1: hard work, but they're not doing everything it requires to

00:05:43

Speaker 1: get the results.

00:05:44

Speaker 1: I've seen people who have been coming to my gym

00:05:46

Speaker 1: for months and years, but they don't go home and

00:05:50

Speaker 1: take care of their nutrition. And if you don't do that,

00:05:52

Speaker 1: you're not getting the results which you deserve from the

00:05:57

Speaker 1: work you're putting in the gym.

00:05:58

Speaker 1: Let's take it a little further. I have seen people

00:06:01

Speaker 1: who come to the gym regularly. They also make changes

00:06:04

Speaker 1: to their eating habits and lifestyle and stuff. But they

00:06:08

Speaker 1: fail to accept that if you're in a gym and

00:06:10

Speaker 1: if you want to build muscle and strength, you have

00:06:13

Speaker 1: to eat enough protein. And lot of people find it

00:06:17

Speaker 1: hard to come to terms with this one thing, and

00:06:20

Speaker 1: this is the only biggest change you need to bring

00:06:22

Speaker 1: to your eating habits, and this is also the most

00:06:25

Speaker 1: important thing. You need to build muscle and strength

00:06:28

Speaker 1: and also make your fat loss effective. But if you

00:06:31

Speaker 1: fail to do this one thing and do everything else right,

00:06:34

Speaker 1: you will still fail that is what I mean when

00:06:37

Speaker 1: I say hard work does not always guarantee results for

00:06:41

Speaker 1: guaranteed results, you have to do everything it takes. Lesson

00:06:45

Speaker 1: number four is somewhat related to lesson number three of

00:06:48

Speaker 1: hard work, that is,

00:06:49

Speaker 1: you cannot get results if you're cheating or if you're

00:06:53

Speaker 1: doing things halfheartedly or if you're looking for shortcuts. The

00:06:57

Speaker 1: results you're getting from your efforts in the gym is

00:07:01

Speaker 1: directly related to the efforts you're actually putting in the gym.

00:07:04

Speaker 1: If you don't put efforts in the gym, if you

00:07:07

Speaker 1: just show up and do nothing, if you just show

00:07:09

Speaker 1: up and do it halfheartedly or half as through your

00:07:13

Speaker 1: workouts and your diet and your routine, then you'll not

00:07:17

Speaker 1: get results.

00:07:18

Speaker 1: So no cheating, no half icing or no shortcuts will

00:07:21

Speaker 1: get you there. It's a major, major life lesson, something

00:07:24

Speaker 1: which applies to everything in your life. Now the lesson

00:07:28

Speaker 1: Number five is again connected to the previous two lessons

00:07:30

Speaker 1: that is, You reap what you sow if you put

00:07:34

Speaker 1: in effort. If you do everything right, then you will

00:07:38

Speaker 1: definitely get results.

00:07:39

Speaker 1: This is something which you will experience only when you

00:07:42

Speaker 1: do it. When you do all the things which you

00:07:45

Speaker 1: need to do to get the results. You will get

00:07:48

Speaker 1: the results and you will realise it only when you

00:07:50

Speaker 1: do it. I have seen this with many people. I

00:07:52

Speaker 1: keep telling them I keep telling them. But they fail

00:07:55

Speaker 1: to realise this unless they put in the effort and

00:07:58

Speaker 1: get results. I have seen people who quit in between.

00:08:01

Speaker 1: I have seen people who stick around and then at

00:08:04

Speaker 1: certain point of time, they will start putting real efforts

00:08:07

Speaker 1: and start doing everything it takes and they got results.

00:08:10

Speaker 1: And that is when they realised that all they had

00:08:12

Speaker 1: to do was just follow whatever I was asking them

00:08:15

Speaker 1: to do and just surrender to the process. So the

00:08:18

Speaker 1: lesson here is you just have to surrender to the

00:08:21

Speaker 1: process and do everything it takes and you will definitely

00:08:25

Speaker 1: get results. And guess what? You can apply this to

00:08:27

Speaker 1: any other thing in your life

00:08:30

Speaker 1: and number six, when you put all the efforts it

00:08:32

Speaker 1: requires to get to your goals and do it consistently,

00:08:36

Speaker 1: and when you get results, then you get the deepest fulfilment,

00:08:40

Speaker 1: which is very, very difficult to explain in words. That

00:08:43

Speaker 1: is something for you to experience.

00:08:47

Speaker 1: And when it comes to fitness, you don't really need

00:08:49

Speaker 1: to spend months and years to have this feeling.

00:08:52

Speaker 1: You can start experiencing this within weeks of starting your fitness.

00:08:56

Speaker 1: You will experience this when you see that your abilities

00:08:59

Speaker 1: are going up, you're able to lift more weights or

00:09:02

Speaker 1: you're able to do more reputations with the same weights.

00:09:05

Speaker 1: You will see this when you start losing weight. You

00:09:08

Speaker 1: will see this when your belly measurements goes down. You'll

00:09:10

Speaker 1: see this when you start looking different in the mirror.

00:09:13

Speaker 1: You will see this when your clothes starts fitting better

00:09:17

Speaker 1: on you.

00:09:17

Speaker 1: This is something which you have to acknowledge and feel

00:09:21

Speaker 1: it and be proud of yourself. And if you follow

00:09:24

Speaker 1: this in other areas of your life, your career, your relationships,

00:09:29

Speaker 1: your money or anything else you're trying to do in

00:09:31

Speaker 1: your life, if you see the fulfilment in the small

00:09:35

Speaker 1: results you're getting that will keep you engaged, that will

00:09:37

Speaker 1: keep you motivated to do more and more. And that

00:09:40

Speaker 1: is one of the biggest lessons I have learned through

00:09:43

Speaker 1: my own fitness journey. And

00:09:45

Speaker 1: that is what kept me going on for months and months,

00:09:48

Speaker 1: and it's been almost eight years now. I have never

00:09:52

Speaker 1: quit my fitness journey.

00:09:55

Speaker 1: I hope you found this episode useful and found some

00:09:59

Speaker 1: motivation to start your own fitness journey. Or, if you're

00:10:02

Speaker 1: already in a fitness journey, start taking your fitness journey

00:10:05

00:10:09

Speaker 1: And if you're someone who is starting your fitness journey

00:10:11

Speaker 1: and you're completely clueless on how to start it, where

00:10:15

Speaker 1: to start it and what to do, then I can
