जैव इंधनवायु म्हणजेच बायोगॅस या विषयावर संशोधन करण्यास डॉ. आनंद कर्वे यांनी २००३ सालापासून सुरुवात केली. त्यांच्या दृष्टीने हा विषय नवा होता. म्हणून कामाला सुरुवात करण्यापूर्वी त्यांनी त्यावर उपलब्ध असणारी माहिती संकलित करू लागले.
