Tour de Zandvoort for Max Verstappen - 2024 Dutch GP Preview

After weeks of traveling to other race venues to cheer for Max Verstappen, the "Orange Army" finally gets a home race to cheer for...Max Verstappen! Let's face it - the Dutch Grand Prix exists only for one reason. That reason is Max Verstappen. Don't believe us? Hear the story of the 2020 Dutch Grand Prix in the episode for more. Yes, the 2020 edition of the race. The one that didn't happen. It's fitting that Max Verstappen's home race is an old school circuit that every driver adores. A circuit that is tight, twisty and narrow with a high overtaking difficulty. There are two LONG DRS zones and the best part? Two heavily banked corners that will challenge the drivers and tyres alike. Come Qualifying, track position will be vital. And in the race, tyre strategy will be key. Why? Again, because overtaking is difficult around Zandvoort. In this episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil Arora, @f1statsguru and Kunal Shah preview the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix. The trio discusses the circuit characteristics, facts-stats, and of course, how the next 10 races of the 2024 Formula 1 season will pan out starting from this race weekend. Will Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing resume winning races? OR will McLaren finally nail their race execution to score more 1-2s, a result they will need to claim this year's World Constructors' Championship. A few seats still remain to be filled for the 2025 Formula 1 season. Will we see any driver announcements this weekend or the next? Tune in! [00:00:18] [SPEAKER_02]: We are on a mission for a few stupid questions here on the Inside Line F1 Podcast.

[00:00:24] [SPEAKER_02]: We were firstly wondering who would play Yuvraj Singh in his biopic which I am not sure

[00:00:28] [SPEAKER_02]: this is the right platform to answer but I do have a question for you nonetheless Kunal.

[00:00:34] [SPEAKER_02]: If and when you go to the Dutch GP where would you like to park your bike?

[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Would it be in Potomac, in Spa, in Baku or where else?

[00:00:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Wow, I see we are playing to the title of the podcast Tour de Zandvoort to watch Max Verstappen

[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_01]: because 40,000 bicycles literally that are going to find parking there.

[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's beautiful since you asked the question.

[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I will park at Nico Halkenberg's hometown which is less than or is about 90 miles or less than

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_01]: 150 kilometers away from this race circuit. I will try and see if he still considers me as

[00:01:14] [SPEAKER_01]: a bit of a friend and he will say just park in my garage.

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_02]: But that's why you will park your Tesla won't you? You will take your Tesla and then take

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_02]: your bicycle to the circuit. Where Sundaram they have bike parking lots that go by the

[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_02]: name of Red Bull Ring, that go off Silvestan, they go by the name of Monza, Suzuka, Miami,

[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Monaco. Where would you like to park your bike? I would like to do it by the beach but

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I know it's going to be super, super packed this weekend and there's going to be lots

[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_00]: of people attending the Dutch Grand Prix. I'm not going to find any place amongst all of those

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_00]: people to park my bike anywhere so I'm going to stay at home and enjoy this.

[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_00]: You're not staying at home. We are not staying at home.

[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_00]: You're not at home. You're not at home.

[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Are you going to give it away or?

[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_01]: You're not going to a race track? Yeah, of course. You guys better give it away. It's

[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_02]: we really do pride ourselves on being able to be at the racetracks whenever there is

[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_02]: motorsport going on and Sundaram and myself will be there for the Indian Racing League this weekend

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_02]: and for the entire season as well at the Madras International Circuit

[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_02]: and this particular Saturday and Sunday. So if you're around Chennai,

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_02]: join us, come to the circuit. It'll be great to see you come over and say hello

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_02]: or if you can't come to the circuit physically I suppose we will be on your TV screens at

[00:02:40] [SPEAKER_02]: home or even your phone. Star Sports and Fan Code are where you will see the broadcast of

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_02]: the Indian Racing League and Indian F4 Championship and the two of us are going to be on there. So

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_02]: that's a little bit of a fun thing to have but that's in India. In the Netherlands,

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Kunal, the racing is even crazier because if I remember correctly you work for Viapoli

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_02]: who's also the official broadcaster in the Netherlands. Are you getting to go there

[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_02]: to see all the madness this weekend or are you working from the studio this time?

[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I could if. I'll be on the studio and everyone watching the feed in Norway will get to see me

[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_01]: on camera. I'm going to be the TV expert so I will get to break down the race and the strategy

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_01]: in real time and strategy is going to be keyed this weekend. Short pit lane, 60 km per hour,

[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_01]: pit lane speed limit, three of the hardest compounds. We don't know what the weather

[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_01]: is going to do like it always happens but it's exciting. All three of us on camera

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_01]: at a motorsport event, could it be better than that? I think there's only one thing that tops it.

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_02]: It's doing a live event with all of our people, with all of us together in Mumbai which is again

[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_02]: you have to go back to the home crowd right? If a man United player says they'll play anywhere

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_02]: apart from World Cup, they're not a man United players. We're going to be missing home this

[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_02]: weekend and it's some weekend to leave home for Sundaram because heading into this one,

[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_02]: we're in such a crazy scenario where we have four different race winners in the last four

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Grand Prix. We enter the second half of the season with 13 different race winners on the grid

[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_02]: and guess what? Red Bull have not lost four races in a row since Sakir 2020 that's 82 races ago.

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_00]: This is the state of Formula One today and I'm very happy that we are finally at that stage and

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_00]: it really is a rarity that we see four different teams and as many as seven different divers

[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_00]: that can contend for a win. I'm generally very happy where Formula One is at this point but

[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_00]: I would not want to be at home for this race actually. I don't want to be all alone

[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_00]: watching this on my screens. I would prefer to watch this with 100 people, everyone cheering on

[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Landon or his overtake or a Stappen overtake. This is one of those weekends and it's probably going

[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_00]: to be one of those seasons where the second half is going to be that much more exciting.

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_00]: We have so many drivers in contention. I don't know who's going to be

[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_00]: in contention this weekend but I genuinely feel Red Bull can stamp their authority

[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_00]: and have things go back their way this weekend because it's Max Stappen's home race,

[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_00]: the Dutch Grand Prix after all and it's the start of the second half of the season.

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_00]: So this is the ideal place to tell everyone and remind everyone that hey, you might have

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_00]: forgotten us but you're still back here and we're still going to extend our championship

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_00]: lead so I'm putting a prediction right there straight away. I think Max Stappen is going

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_01]: to be winning this weekend. Wow! Before we even get to the predictions,

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Sundaram has laid it out there, laid it bare out there. I sort of agree with one thing which is

[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_01]: that the races in the summer break, before the summer break, sorry, the races before the

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_01]: summer break came very fast. We had a triple header, one weekend break and then a double

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_01]: header and momentum. We've always spoken of momentum and if you carry that momentum

[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_01]: or you don't carry a momentum, it's sort of you may not find your way through when races come to

[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_01]: you so thick and fast. This has been a forced break on all of us although we were recording.

[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_01]: My feeling is that all teams would have gotten a chance to review their packages and the data

[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_01]: even more so run simulations as they would. Could Red Bull have found what is lacking

[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_01]: or has been lacking for them and could this time off, could this break have just sort of paused their

[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_01]: downfall is that the word? Or slowing down? Red Bull have been in the news for their breaks recently.

[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I was waiting for you to play that pun but yes they have been in the news for a break. The FIA

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_01]: has seemingly plugged a loophole on using asymmetrical braking on Formula One cars which

[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I think is very interesting. It just so happens that Peter Wincer who's been on our show several

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_01]: times and Craig Scarborough, two leading figures in the world of technical regulations and technical

[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Formula One or F1 tech have explained it very well on what they think it is. And of course

[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_01]: everything is linking back to yes so Red Bull is the one team that has surprisingly lost a lot

[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_01]: of pace. So were they illegal? Were they running a car which was exploiting a loophole etc.

[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Firstly if you exploit a loophole it's not illegal. Secondly the FIA actively works on

[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_01]: plugging loopholes. It is a technical sport there are regulations. The FIA has fewer people

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_01]: policing these regulations versus the teams actually having some of the masterminds who

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_01]: are supposed to find their way through the regulations whether it's a loophole or not.

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Right that's where I stand. What is asymmetrical braking that happens? So

[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_01]: when we drive a road car and you press the brakes the braking pressure on all four wheels

[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_01]: is the same. It could be that the front wheels are braking more together than the rear wheels or

[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_01]: the other way around when it comes to brake bias setting. So when you see a qualifying lap

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_01]: and you see your driver taking the hand of the steering wheel and adjusting something

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_01]: or turning up a knob depending on what car it is, what steering wheel offers brake bias settings and

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_01]: where. What typically they do is they adjust brake bias setting so if you're entering into a slower

[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_01]: corner maybe you need to slow down a little more so you take a little bit more front brake bias for

[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_01]: example if you're going into a high speed corner maybe you take a little bit of rear

[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_01]: brake bias and you know depending on what drivers want and they have these presets for corners

[00:08:53] [SPEAKER_01]: especially on qualifying laps. Now for Red Bull what people are saying is that this asymmetrical

[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_01]: braking bias what it also does is it allows you to change brake bias on different wheels on the

[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_01]: left side and the right side of the wheel that's what it does and Craig Scarborough has drawn a

[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_01]: very simple very lovely engineering drawing of what this is go and check his Twitter

[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_01]: and what it means in reality of course if I can just simplify it is when you are

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_01]: braking and turning into say a right-hander the inside wheel which is a right hand side of the

[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_01]: wheels travel a lesser distance than the left hand side of the wheel okay and and hence the speed

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_01]: of both these wheels are all so different. So could you brake on each wheel differently which

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_01]: allows them to keep different speeds through the corner in theory this is what it largely stands at

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Formula One is a technical sport it is an engineering innovation engineering challenge and this is what

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_01]: teams have come up with like people use this any this is not new tech it's tech used in other

[00:09:58] [SPEAKER_01]: series of racing it's used off-roading as well it's just been employed in in Formula One and

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_01]: you know depending on which side you turn etc these things happen so the FI has plugged

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_01]: this loophole from the summer brake okay and now everyone's just trying to extrapolate

[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_02]: which team was exploiting this loophole. If it is indeed Red Bull Sundaram how ironic is it that

[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_02]: it's Red Bull now being not allowed to use the technology that was sort of initially

[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_02]: originally pioneered by McLaren with their third brake pedal back in 1997 so you've got a harness

[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_02]: the abilities of the team who's chasing you to beat them but that seems to be tough

[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_02]: because wherever we have gone to proper Red Bull racing territory this year be it a Silverston

[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_02]: be it Austria be it I think another one of those races if I'm not mistaken I had in mind notes let

[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_02]: me check for a second there have been three races over there Silverston, Austria and Hungary as well

[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_02]: yes and also Belgium proper Red Bull racing circuits yes who's won in three out of four

[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_02]: of those races it's been Mercedes who has been dominating at Red Bull territory not

[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_02]: McLaren as we thought would be the case it's it's a fun little thing that's happening

[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_02]: now that Mercedes are the ones picking up the scraps where McLaren should be the ones actually doing it

[00:11:17] [SPEAKER_00]: exactly and I don't know if I should say this but one of those wins was gifted to George Russell

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_00]: in Austria because West Appen and Norris collided but either way you're right in terms of numbers

[00:11:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Mercedes does have that sort of form and it's going to be very interesting in that in that sense

[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_00]: you can see you can feel that Mercedes has kind of picked up the scraps on certain locations

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_00]: and Mercedes has dropped a lot of points as well and that's going to be crucial for the

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Constructors Championship as well because McLaren have how many points are there 49 points away

[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_00]: 42 42 points actually what can actually happen this weekend is if McLaren get it absolutely

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_00]: right this weekend they could top the Constructors standings after the Zandvoort round and for that

[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_00]: to happen a lot has to go wrong at Red Bulls in Red Bulls side inside Sergio Perez finishes

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_00]: outside the points once again Max Verstappen has a DNF of some sort in front of his home crowd but

[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_00]: in a very long time once again there's the opportunity for a different team to lead the

[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Constructors Championship so that's going to be very very interesting but like I said before

[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't see that happening this weekend it's going to be put off for another weekend

[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_01]: it's a mathematical possibility yes right and till the checkered flag doesn't drop the mathematical

[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_01]: possibilities there and you know here's the fun part mathematical possibility McLaren getting

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_01]: one two scoring the fastest lap of the race right that that's the tougher part to happen even if

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_01]: the two Red Bulls don't score for example so the the the side that you choose for the

[00:12:53] [SPEAKER_01]: mathematical possibility still biased towards Red Bull just because McLaren still has an executed

[00:12:59] [SPEAKER_01]: 100% but could this be that one race again that break giving them a chance to regroup to

[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_01]: revisit their actions revisit their communications etc and teams do that time and time again right

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_01]: they sharpen their some their tools the decision making their models can McLaren come back

[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_01]: they know that this Constructors Championship is theirs to claim they know that they are up

[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_01]: against a weaker Red Bull with you know a package that that's suddenly become tough to understand

[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_01]: with Perez who's struggling even more so than Max Verstappen and I think the second half of the

[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_01]: year is going to be extremely extremely exciting like I tweeted it's going to be a blockbuster

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_01]: literally 10 races as we've got I'm pretty sure by the time we get to Abu Dhabi we'd all

[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_01]: be wishing seeing ah we would have we should have had five more races you know just to

[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_01]: take us through till the start of 2024 as well. Careful what you asked for. No but that's in

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_00]: it's an interesting point that you say the next 10 races because if you look at the next four

[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_00]: races in specific these are races where either Red Bull or Ferrari have done well so take

[00:14:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Sandvort, take Monza, there's Baku so either Singapore and then there's Baku or the other

[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_00]: way around but whatever it is these four are the tracks where Red Bull have dominated,

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_00]: have done well Ferrari have also done well around Singapore so it's going to be interesting if

[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_00]: McLaren can kind of topple them in terms of overall race space and form execution over these next four

[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_00]: races before we head into the Americas and the Middle East once again so I'm the next four races

[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I think are going to be very very crucial but even in that sense we've had the mid-season

[00:14:39] [SPEAKER_00]: break it's been four weeks but teams have been working only for two weeks it's been

[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_00]: an enforced shutdown so everyone's been off for a two week break so it feels more or less

[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_00]: just like any other weekend that's separated by a fortnight but we have four weeks between Singapore

[00:14:55] [SPEAKER_00]: and the US Grand Prix a month later and that's also going to be interesting there's no forced

[00:15:01] [SPEAKER_00]: enforced shutdown then teams can actually work on their cars in those four weeks.

[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_01]: We should have a special content plan we should probably get a couple of guests to

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_02]: break the internet. Not yet not yet but I think the taste is sweeter when you wait for it right

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_02]: so we'll make the people wait and trust me it will be worth it but ringing on just carrying on on this

[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_02]: whole debate about what the next half of the season holds I can't help but think about 2009

[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_02]: because we were in a similar situation over there where there was one team who had absolutely

[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_02]: aced the regulations but then eventually fell off because they couldn't quite develop their car

[00:15:42] [SPEAKER_02]: the way they wanted to. Maybe they reached the ceiling maybe there just wasn't enough investment

[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_02]: with Braun again it's a bit of a tale that's up in the air so we'll never know but with Red Bull

[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_02]: we can clearly tell that they're reaching the limit of understanding the car in terms of all

[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_02]: the comments that have come around from people within the team but here's a fun statistic

[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_02]: when Braun GP were around in 2009 they won six out of the 10 races before the summer break

[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_02]: after that they only won two out of seven so far Red Bull have actually statistically done

[00:16:13] [SPEAKER_02]: worse than them they've only won half the races only they've only won seven out of 14 other races

[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_02]: in the season so far and just because my greatest friend the greatest predictor in the Formula

[00:16:25] [SPEAKER_02]: 1 paddock is going to be back this weekend in the paddock hopefully we should channel him

[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_02]: back again I see no reason why Red Bull can't win the next 10 races and I hope this comment is going

[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_02]: to work out exactly like Mathieu Binotto's comment on Ferrari in 2022 which is exactly what he said

[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_02]: I see no reason why we can't win the next 10 races after the summer break

[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_02]: and they proceeded to win none so again I just want drama. Beautiful plug.

[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Beautiful plug. I just want drama. We're waiting to see Mathieu Binotto back at a racetrack

[00:16:57] [SPEAKER_01]: after so many years he was probably on gardening leave I'm pretty sure I'd love to get pictures of

[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_01]: his garden even if it's Google images pictures that are there but no in all seriousness he took

[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_01]: over the reins of the Audi F1 team first of August I presume he'll be at the race it'll be

[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_01]: his first race in Sauber, Audi, Steak, Finn whatever colors that they come the the fluorescent

[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_01]: green colors and his media interaction as well so he may not be the team representative

[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_01]: you know but he so by that he may not be in the team press conferences officially but

[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_01]: he will have some you know media interactions but why don't we just go back to Sunfood and

[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_01]: you know what we've called this episode tour to Sunfood because this this race you know firstly

[00:17:41] [SPEAKER_01]: the circuit very old school two words we'll hear all through the weekend is old school circuit

[00:17:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and we love these old school circuits like we've had a spa what's coming next weekend in Monza

[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_01]: and the other thing we're going to hear is margin for error because of these big huge wide

[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe I can call them fat F1 cars going fast around a narrow circuit right and a circuit with

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_01]: several high medium and slow speed corners with too long DRS zones as well so always exciting

[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_01]: to see how these cars tackle different corner ranges but all in all I think it's a very fitting

[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_01]: circuit to celebrate an old school driver like Max wish tappan because let's be honest guys the

[00:18:29] [SPEAKER_01]: only reason that touch Grand Prix exists is for Max wish tappan to celebrate Max wish tappan

[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_01]: all right F1 came back ever since the max wish tappan legend grew or rather the

[00:18:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Dutch Grand Prix came back after the max wish tappan legend grew in Formula 1 so much so that

[00:18:51] [SPEAKER_01]: in 2020 when F1 was deciding to have races without the fans Sunfood said no wait a minute we can't

[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_01]: do races without fans we need the fans here we will delay we will defer our return to Formula

[00:19:04] [SPEAKER_01]: 1 by a year because we need the fans because we need the fans to celebrate Max wish tappan and for

[00:19:10] [SPEAKER_01]: once the orange army which literally travels either to Austria or to Belgium or to different parts

[00:19:16] [SPEAKER_01]: of Europe to watch Max wish tappan will now get to watch Max wish tappan at home this weekend

[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_01]: and if Sundaram's prediction comes true it's going to be a bumper for the the orange army

[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_01]: fans turning up in the thousands hundreds of thousands on cycles to watch Max wish tappan

[00:19:36] [SPEAKER_00]: I always believe that when you drive on your home turf you are often tend to get at least

[00:19:44] [SPEAKER_00]: a couple of tenths more and in Max wish tappan's case it's probably going to be half a second in

[00:19:48] [SPEAKER_00]: itself in qualifying so you have an arena filled with orange clad fans i'm sure it's gonna

[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_00]: he's gonna e-card half a second in qualifying and like you said it's an old school circuit so

[00:20:02] [SPEAKER_00]: overtaking is very difficult it's a narrow track we have two banked corners which is rarity but that

[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_00]: puts a lot of stress to the through the tires as well so I think Max wish tappan is going to put

[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_00]: it on pole and keep the lead until the end of the race but another reason to link it to

[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_00]: an old circuit or a classic circuit is if you look at the leaderboards of all the other tracks this

[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_00]: season you would often see Hamilton leading the charts or was tappan or a michael schumacher

[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_00]: do you know who's leading the the leaderboard at sandfort in terms of race victories it's one

[00:20:37] [SPEAKER_02]: of my all-time favorite drivers take a guess sandfort race victories i gym clock

[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_00]: gym clock gym class gym clock four victories and if max was tapping wins this time he's going to

[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_00]: equal gym clocks record at sandfort yeah i would love him i would actually love gym to hold on to

[00:20:58] [SPEAKER_00]: that actually now maybe i should change my prediction but okay but you know i i said

[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_01]: max has had three poles three wins so he's had a hundred percent record it's like that

[00:21:07] [SPEAKER_01]: sabashan fettle record at the indian crown pri and i think louis louis hamilton

[00:21:15] [SPEAKER_01]: has never won in sandfort right uh and i think the other two races are miami and las vegas as

[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_01]: well because they've been introduced since whatever he's not had a winning car or whatever you call

[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_01]: it so very exciting to see how how all that is going to be and you know the orange army

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_01]: i don't know if they they cheer if an orange car beats their orange flavor driver because that

[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_01]: could also be you know my my feeling is mclaren is only going to come stronger they've had

[00:21:43] [SPEAKER_01]: 10 podiums they know what they've missed out on and mclaren versus max wish tappan is going to

[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_01]: beat the story this weekend it only depends on how many beers the dutch are down

[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_02]: to see if they support the orange car or the orange driver it's just all on that

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_02]: but it won't take you beers for you to enjoy max because sundaram 2021 was happened to poll here

[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_02]: in the midst of a competitive battle against louis hamilton with a faulty drs that's how

[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_02]: good he is at this place it's it's a force to reckon with he is a force to reckon with and

[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_00]: like i said drivers tend to do good do better around home around the home tracks

[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_00]: zhoga new finished p14 at the chinese grand prix whereas another track sees being performing even

[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_00]: worse so that's what that's what i feel this weekend is is going to be incredible i think

[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_00]: lancetroll also did exceptionally well at the canadian grand prix so that does make difference

[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_02]: so it is what it's going to be this weekend as well wait standing ovation guys i'm still

[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_02]: still holding on to my point the range should have got it in india zho got it in china we

[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_02]: want for max it's if we're just doing the honors for everyone right we might as well

[00:22:59] [SPEAKER_01]: actually that's a good point i think max wish tappan hasn't got that standing ovation for all

[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_01]: that he's done by the dutch fans that he has even joh guanyu got in china that emotional

[00:23:12] [SPEAKER_01]: you know attention that that high saying stop everything and just look at me and i look

[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_01]: at your product or 21 because they had that dr s issue and he still managed to grab pole position

[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_01]: and max of course had pole position at spa with a half a second margin and you know poll is again

[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_01]: poll margins are something i love to track because 2023 max again again in sun food had

[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_01]: a half a second poll but in 2022 it was down to 200s and in 2021 it was down to 300s okay so

[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_01]: that's how close it's going to be it is one of the shortest circuits on the calendar 4. something

[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_01]: kilometers 72 odd laps that we are going to get and i love those banked corners because they just

[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_01]: had a different level of challenge to these drivers the only the only banked corner otherwise

[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_01]: that we all still remember is indianapolis okay when when we think of the old indianapolis

[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_01]: motor speedway where they made modifications to run f1 cars the banking

[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_01]: here is actually twice that of the indianapolis right and i think jeda has some banked corners but

[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_01]: it's not banked enough for us to you know visually appreciate that oh that's the banking everyone's

[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_01]: talking off and i still remember turn three hoogenholtz a bach as we call it or my touch

[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_01]: is bad as it always every year i say this but turn three finando along so if he is starting

[00:24:42] [SPEAKER_01]: in a position if he's starting out of position turn three finando along so opening lap he's

[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_01]: my man to watch on the driver on board camera definitely that corner is something else they

[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_02]: should just rename it the speed racer corner or something so many different lines the one on

[00:24:57] [SPEAKER_02]: the inside the one on the outside the one on the extreme outside as well i'm just curious

[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_02]: to see as you mentioned canal what happens at the start there and also how the lines

[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_02]: evolve now this is something that i particularly want to pay more attention to i saw this last

[00:25:13] [SPEAKER_02]: year where at a certain point a certain driver again i'm doing you guys a disservice by not

[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_02]: remembering who it was but it's too much too much digging to do for two little value if that's

[00:25:23] [SPEAKER_02]: the right thing but i noticed that the drivers at one point of the racetrack were taking a

[00:25:27] [SPEAKER_02]: certain line and as the races evolve they were taking the other one and the lines are so

[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_02]: dramatically different i don't remember the circumstances but one time they were going

[00:25:35] [SPEAKER_02]: extremely above the white line one time they were going a triangular sort of shape one

[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_02]: time they were taking just the inside so how do these lines evolve according to the conditions

[00:25:44] [SPEAKER_02]: that present themselves over the weekend that is something i i will be tracking with more depth

[00:25:49] [SPEAKER_02]: this time or that'll be fun to see and that's one thing you can only do at sun vote yeah exactly

[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_01]: because multiple lines through a corner typically depends on how much fuel you're carrying what

[00:26:00] [SPEAKER_01]: stage of the race you are at are you attacking or defending someone how old are your tires how

[00:26:05] [SPEAKER_01]: much of tire management you're doing as well because tire sensitivity is extremely high like

[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_01]: sundaram pointed out just because of the the circuit and the way it's designed lots of high

[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_01]: speed directional changes i think the front left is what people normally need to take a lot of care

[00:26:20] [SPEAKER_01]: of uh i think 14 corners so four to the left 10 to the right if that's what i remember also

[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_01]: sand can blow onto the circuit from the sand dunes nearby so that could be an additional

[00:26:32] [SPEAKER_01]: challenge as well for this race weekend purely are bringing their hardest compound of the tires

[00:26:38] [SPEAKER_01]: out here they've said it'll be a one stopper which pretty much means that the teams would probably

[00:26:42] [SPEAKER_01]: move into at least doing a two stop but interestingly you know last year if we were to just look at

[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_01]: that that the race last year lonzo was on the podium with pier ghastly so it was a surprise

[00:26:51] [SPEAKER_01]: podium we had a mixed weather race sunoda ran 50 laps on the soft tire which is of course

[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_01]: the c3 tire which somwell as you pointed out earlier in the season is that higher the maclaran

[00:27:02] [SPEAKER_01]: really loves to to to you know excel on and use and then last year also all five tire compounds

[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_01]: were used in the race which means the intermediate and the wet tires were put to use as well

[00:27:16] [SPEAKER_01]: also this circuit because of the high speed directional changes has a very high

[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_01]: mass sensitivity index which means that if you carry more fuel you just end up losing more

[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_01]: lap time here just given the nature of the circuit itself right track position is vital

[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_01]: strategy is vital because overtaking is very tough as well so maclaran will be of course

[00:27:40] [SPEAKER_01]: challenged firstly landowner norris can he nail the start for once because he's had

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_01]: five races where he started from pole tree ground praise two sprints all of them he's gone

[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_01]: backwards on the opening lap itself andria still are the engineering brain that he's it's

[00:27:57] [SPEAKER_01]: he's missed out on some statistical opportunities on the opening lap because statistics would show

[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_01]: that you are able to make better or higher progress on the opening lap than on the laps to

[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_01]: follow so that's one and then maclaran needing to of course ace their their strategy because

[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_01]: sand food bites in every single way if you get it wrong and there are 72 laps where you could just

[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_02]: be stuck behind another car statistically what are they bringing the concept of expected goals

[00:28:26] [SPEAKER_02]: into formula one like xg and how that works it's oh my goodness but that is such a what

[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_01]: what that means is if you have to make up track position there are statistically higher chances

[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_01]: to make up more track position on the opening lap than on the laps to follow so andria seller is right

[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_01]: just that he put it in a very engineering sense now i see what you mean but football also has a

[00:28:50] [SPEAKER_02]: similar index called the xg which basically calculates the quality of your chances

[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_02]: based on how often a goal can go from a certain point on the pitch so if you're closer

[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_02]: to the goal you get a 0.9 xg the further away you go it tends to get lower back i'm just wondering

[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_02]: opening up a pandora's box here because we tend to do these things can we have an xg or an expected

[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_02]: pass metric for formula one two where you judge the quality of the pass based on statistically

[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_02]: how tricky it was to do by which logic we might end up seeing some crazy random

[00:29:22] [SPEAKER_02]: pass that we might have forgotten get a 0.9 xg or whatever it might be like like albin

[00:29:27] [SPEAKER_01]: overtaking two cars in the wet in canada for example yeah exactly oh sonora being pushed off

[00:29:34] [SPEAKER_02]: wide by finando no alone so going off on the grass and still waving his finger to sonora and then

[00:29:40] [SPEAKER_02]: getting past him that would be like a 1.4 xg that's no 0.1 xg impossible

[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_01]: liberty media we know you're listening you have lots of graphics lots of sensors lots of data

[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_01]: striking distance overtaking distance pit stop window open close safety car window open close

[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_01]: here's something we can learn from the world of formula one where there isn't much of data

[00:30:02] [SPEAKER_01]: this is this is what we come from a world where everything there's data for but guys

[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_02]: let's also transition now to the midfield so that we need to we need to talk about this one

[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_02]: thing where our favorite the man who we love the most the man who always gives us

[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_02]: incredible quality content to talk about flavio beard only i can't call him team principal

[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_02]: but but he's he's an advisor to alpine if my reading is correct can all or what's what's the

[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_01]: exact role he's a genius in alpine the only f1 genius in alpine as he says so yeah but he

[00:30:37] [SPEAKER_01]: i mean you know it's it's like this he's not a titular head i'm pretty sure of that like most

[00:30:43] [SPEAKER_01]: presidents of countries i'm pretty sure he's calling the shots or he's influencing calling

[00:30:47] [SPEAKER_01]: the shots and of course now he's got oliver oaks who if he has hired oliver oaks

[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_01]: then it makes it easier to call the shots and tell oliver you remember who hired you

[00:30:58] [SPEAKER_01]: fire this guy or high actually firing happens faster in alpine than hiring so you never know

[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_00]: but no but we should we should give him credit for making at least one good decision which was

[00:31:10] [SPEAKER_00]: ousting bruno famine uh quite clearly was for what what was a pretty horrible one year in

[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_00]: in charge so at least in that sense he's made at least one correct decision and

[00:31:22] [SPEAKER_00]: hiring probably who is the second youngest team principal in formula one after christian honor

[00:31:27] [SPEAKER_00]: is probably a step in the right direction maybe it gives them a little bit more stability

[00:31:32] [SPEAKER_00]: uh fresh thinking a fresh way of you know implementing procedures and processes i'm

[00:31:40] [SPEAKER_00]: i'm all for seeing what oliver oaks can do with that team and but yes still not very happy

[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_01]: with flavio being in that team i'll still say that but but you know they need to give oliver all the

[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_01]: time and let's hope that oliver is also coming with the right energies and focus because there's

[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_01]: also this one side where high tech ground free at a very close relationship with the masopins

[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_01]: you know there's a second seat open uh you know there's talk of jack doing being announced at

[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_01]: some point there's talk of you know flavio buriatori gave michael schumacher the big

[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_01]: world championship break could it be mix schumacher who comes in uh because they've lost out on carlos

[00:32:18] [SPEAKER_01]: signs but the worst could happen is if flavio has joined oliver oaks has come and nikita masopin gets

[00:32:26] [SPEAKER_01]: a look in just because the oaks have been very close to them or i would say a positive story

[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_01]: out of this could be paul aran you know the f2 race winner and and i think he's second he is

[00:32:38] [SPEAKER_01]: second in the championship but one of the most consistent formula two drivers in his debut season

[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_01]: so lots of rights that oliver oaks and flavio buriatori can do uh you know of course we joke

[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_01]: about flavio but you know he knows the business of f1 and he's coming to run the business of an

[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_02]: f1 team hey no but there is a valid reason to joke because flavio buriatori what flavio

[00:33:01] [SPEAKER_02]: buriatori went to the media and said that this wait let me just fathom this mentally i i need

[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_02]: i need to laugh first and get it out of my system so that i can deliver it positively to you guys so

[00:33:12] [SPEAKER_02]: here is what flavio said and i quote at the moment you need to put the team together from the commercial

[00:33:19] [SPEAKER_02]: site the technical side the management side the driver makes no difference now the difference will

[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_02]: be in 26 27 28 this should be the difference for the driver if you have a good car you need a

[00:33:31] [SPEAKER_02]: good driver if the car is not performing our point in this moment make sure we put all

[00:33:36] [SPEAKER_02]: the energy in the technical side and make sure that the car of alpine is looking better and better

[00:33:40] [SPEAKER_02]: in 2026 i believe we see the new alpine that is when the driver will matter

[00:33:47] [SPEAKER_02]: basically he's completely completely put a whole load of bollocks on who the second driver is

[00:33:53] [SPEAKER_02]: going to be right like he's literally come out there and said it doesn't matter who you are

[00:33:56] [SPEAKER_02]: the benchmark is very low figured it out and we'll see in 26 it's i love this comment it's

[00:34:02] [SPEAKER_01]: it's him basically saying it does not matter good which as could this be that hint that it doesn't

[00:34:08] [SPEAKER_02]: matter if i hire nikita mazip in for all the money it doesn't matter at all it's we'll see in 26

[00:34:14] [SPEAKER_02]: now the second driver is it doesn't matter now is this why kallo sain said no you you don't

[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_01]: care who your second driver is you don't think the driver makes a difference tata bye bye no if

[00:34:24] [SPEAKER_00]: i'm not wrong i think gunthe steiner said the same thing back in 2020 or 2021 when he hired

[00:34:30] [SPEAKER_00]: mikshu makra nikita mazip and they had a terrible season if i'm not wrong they didn't score a single

[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_00]: point that season alpine are currently eight in the championship they're sitting 11th and it's

[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_00]: looking very difficult for them to go up to seventh but they can lose out eighth to williams

[00:34:47] [SPEAKER_00]: who are only seven points behind so williams needs just one good or a couple of good weekends

[00:34:52] [SPEAKER_00]: to kind of jump alpine for eighth and alpine falls to ninth if that's what flavio brahito

[00:34:59] [SPEAKER_00]: means that he doesn't want it doesn't really matter who the second driver is

[00:35:04] [SPEAKER_00]: potentially looking at alpine sitting at eighth ninth maybe even tenth next year seriously so

[00:35:12] [SPEAKER_02]: you know what milfs are right guys you know the hot milfs in your area i man i love flavio

[00:35:18] [SPEAKER_02]: that's what it stands for i'm a milf lover clearly i love flavio for these things it's

[00:35:25] [SPEAKER_02]: incredible oh well do we talk about a team whose second driver matters yeah we should

[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_00]: let's go for it they don't have a second driver you mean astin martin right okay

[00:35:38] [SPEAKER_01]: by the way i'm a little surprised you asked sundaram to pick a parking spot and he didn't

[00:35:43] [SPEAKER_01]: say astin martin for his bicycle and he didn't say i will take the finando alonso reserved

[00:35:49] [SPEAKER_01]: spot because finando alonso of course is both the twin but sundaram clearly believes

[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_00]: otherwise i believe in a lot of things okay but it never comes true so i just try and keep quiet

[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_01]: okay on to meseries do you think they're announcing kimmy antonnelli this weekend or are they

[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_00]: announcing him next weekend it's happening it's happening before the italian grand prix are after

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_00]: it because it's actually going to be 25 years since the original kimmy was brought into formula one

[00:36:22] [SPEAKER_00]: as well if you all remember the eskimo story does anyone remember that that happened if i'm not wrong

[00:36:29] [SPEAKER_00]: after the 2000 italian grand prix around this time initial september there was a there was a

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_00]: private test happening around migello and the sauber team grottin a botton a driver who was kept

[00:36:43] [SPEAKER_00]: under under wraps on purpose so that others don't snatch him um so they gave him the name eskimo

[00:36:49] [SPEAKER_00]: and no one really knew who he was until later on they realized it was kimmy reichner who who made

[00:36:54] [SPEAKER_00]: his debut in formula one the next year so 25 years since kimmy landed on the scene and it's

[00:37:01] [SPEAKER_02]: possibly going to happen around that same time similar fashion to fast track completely fast

[00:37:06] [SPEAKER_01]: tracked yeah fast tracked and i also think the zedis would be very cheeky in choosing

[00:37:13] [SPEAKER_01]: the italian grand prix of course untonelli turns 18 this sunday so technically you know anyway had a

[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_01]: dispensation from the f isa not he but any driver showing capabilities could get an exception for a

[00:37:26] [SPEAKER_01]: super license but for monza we leave this for monza i'll probably repeat it as well

[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_01]: louis hamilton is going to be the most popular driver next weekend even though he's racing

[00:37:36] [SPEAKER_01]: for mcsezzi's okay defos he will already want to celebrate a hamilton okay yes we raced in imola

[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_01]: this is only the second race in in uh italy the season etc but monza is where farari is

[00:37:51] [SPEAKER_01]: celebrated and i think louis is going to be celebrated could mcsezzi's decide to dim those

[00:37:56] [SPEAKER_01]: celebrations by announcing louis's replacement but of course it's also andrea kimmy untonelli's

[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_01]: home race he will be there for formula two as well so i think that's gonna happen that's the number two

[00:38:07] [SPEAKER_01]: driver um that's probably what it's gonna be like i i had a very strong feeling they were waiting up

[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_01]: for max max away max was waiting up for them but i think that's probably not happening at least

[00:38:19] [SPEAKER_01]: for another year i think max is just going to stay because he's probably very sure of what

[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_01]: redbull is doing to fix his car there's a higher chance of his car being fixed here rather than

[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_01]: him going and settling elsewhere and he believes that if redbull makes that small step it'll actually

[00:38:36] [SPEAKER_01]: be a larger step than most teams combined even though adrian newie and johnson weatley etc i've

[00:38:41] [SPEAKER_01]: gone but you never know how how this goes you know max just needs one or one strong reason to go

[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_01]: which is mcsezzi's resurrection and then everyone's going to just fall in line decide you know it's

[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_01]: like lewis hamilton if he said i'm ready to come to farari farari found space for him it's going to

[00:38:59] [SPEAKER_01]: be the same for max wish tappan if max wish tappan says i'm gonna go and race at mcsezzi's

[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_01]: mcsezzi's will find space for him and everybody else just falls in place around him it's gonna

[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_02]: be goodbye to george russell then i say i mean i see that's that's the tricky part right in

[00:39:15] [SPEAKER_00]: no way it's happening in no way are they gonna push out kimmy untonelli and bring in max's

[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_00]: unfortunately i'm pretty sure it's going to be george russell unfortunately that that's the kind

[00:39:26] [SPEAKER_02]: of decision you get paid multimillion dollars a year for and that's what gets you 33 and 1 3rd

[00:39:34] [SPEAKER_02]: percent stake in a team as well and i honestly don't want to make that decision i i'm okay with

[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_02]: whatever i have that's that's too much mental stress man seriously it's wow that's some

[00:39:47] [SPEAKER_02]: circumstance that we could find ourselves in and hey also speaking of driver changes and all these

[00:39:53] [SPEAKER_02]: things remember leon lawson is in the wings and this is the very race last year where we saw his

[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_02]: talents for the first time in formula one so that's also a bit of a story that could loop it on by

[00:40:03] [SPEAKER_00]: itself the very race where he debuted in formula one and he passed a particular max was stopping

[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_00]: as well if you guys remember he overtook max was tapping he actually unlapped himself

[00:40:14] [SPEAKER_00]: momentarily and then fell back into place but yes that was i would say that that was still a pass

[00:40:19] [SPEAKER_00]: but yes it's it's going to be interesting to see where does he end up next year as well and how do

[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_00]: in which direction do rb go as well in terms of their driveland up for for the next season so

[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_01]: it's going to be very interesting i would say exciting always so then prediction times predictions

[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_01]: what are you doing sundaram's picked his so he doesn't get a chance to go again for the race one yeah

[00:40:43] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah i'm done i'm surprised man you guys haven't even thought about waking anywhere he is picking

[00:40:52] [SPEAKER_00]: ps3 he's moved away from science he's moved away from science he's now holding on to ps3 no no alex

[00:40:59] [SPEAKER_02]: alpone i'm holding on to alex alpone i'm banking for alex alpone to be in the top 10 that is

[00:41:03] [SPEAKER_02]: my prediction again you have to manifest not a bad one actually not a bad one i've kind of manifest

[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_02]: my way into at least getting williams in the points now so that's see i'm already building up for next

[00:41:15] [SPEAKER_02]: year that's what teams do at this stage of the season right they already prepare for next year so

[00:41:19] [SPEAKER_00]: williams it is going to be in the top 10 i know why why you're hyping up williams as well for

[00:41:23] [SPEAKER_01]: next year okay we all get it i think it's gonna be about karen one two that's my feeling

[00:41:32] [SPEAKER_01]: it'll be the 50th one two in the history of formula one in which order i would say good one

[00:41:41] [SPEAKER_01]: i would say ps3 not a still fumble to start yeah i don't know why the fumble it could well be

[00:41:48] [SPEAKER_01]: ps3 just out qualifies him by their narrow margin and just keeps that margin up ahead i think

[00:41:53] [SPEAKER_01]: mclaren is gonna be there he's the only driver to have completed every racing lap in 2024 13 races

[00:42:03] [SPEAKER_01]: in the park including sprints including sprints yeah and only driver to lead at least one lap in

[00:42:08] [SPEAKER_01]: the last four grand prix right because last four grand prix have been very weird right i think

[00:42:14] [SPEAKER_01]: louis hamilton who's one too but has led just 30 laps i think 15 in great britain and 15 in in spa

[00:42:24] [SPEAKER_01]: so it just shows how competitive it's gonna be just shows why predictions sound great on a

[00:42:29] [SPEAKER_01]: tuesday evening when we record but by the time it's sunday we'll all be laughing on our faces

[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_01]: like ha ha ha what just happened there and uh and so on but my my uh you know just just one

[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_01]: one thing about sun food since it's been around since 1940 the very fun fact uh is that of course

[00:42:47] [SPEAKER_01]: this is a new layout which has mixes of what happened in 40s 90s and now in the 2020s since

[00:42:54] [SPEAKER_01]: it's come back but the old layout actually has become a golf course could we see some of the

[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_01]: formula one drivers go and just play some golf in the lead up to the race weekend because

[00:43:06] [SPEAKER_01]: lendo norris does that alexander albin and his partner color signs does that as well yes so good

[00:43:14] [SPEAKER_02]: albon's partner color signs very cheeky slipped in yes that's what will you

[00:43:19] [SPEAKER_02]: are going to be the golf family next year on the technique golf family and the cars await

[00:43:24] [SPEAKER_01]: as they keep saying which is where they hire two drivers without an appendix that's a joke as it

[00:43:29] [SPEAKER_01]: goes maybe this is too old now nicely done yeah but uh you know that's uh that's that's what i'm

[00:43:36] [SPEAKER_01]: going to i think it's it's it's going to be a very exciting race this weekend luckily just formula one

[00:43:40] [SPEAKER_01]: usually it's formula three two one lots of energy that gets scattered but here's just f1

[00:43:47] [SPEAKER_01]: that i'm going to follow which which gives you know what do you say gives me more energy

[00:43:53] [SPEAKER_01]: to go deeper into just one one series rather than several other drivers and and so on

[00:43:58] [SPEAKER_00]: but wait you mentioned that mclaren are going to be having a one two

[00:44:02] [SPEAKER_00]: so where do you think max was tapping is going to finish this weekend

[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_00]: same question goes to somer as well he'll get a podium corals going with p3 somer i'm going for the

[00:44:12] [SPEAKER_02]: win for max i don't think you can challenge the king in his own home turf now i'm not not happening

[00:44:19] [SPEAKER_02]: not happening if it's was happening in belgium or veraat koli and adelaide you just don't

[00:44:24] [SPEAKER_02]: bet against them right so it's might as well let the greats do their thing yeah here's a big

[00:44:30] [SPEAKER_01]: question sorry here's a since we're talking over shatap and right which team has had most

[00:44:37] [SPEAKER_01]: bold positions in the last 10 editions of the dutch country red bull racing mclaren

[00:44:45] [SPEAKER_02]: pre-bam or renau i would say renau for of course it's back in the 80s that is there

[00:44:57] [SPEAKER_02]: and where we had 1000 horsepower in their engines but they had to drop them for the race

[00:45:03] [SPEAKER_02]: because again they only last one lap what a generation that was we've actually not spoken at all about

[00:45:09] [SPEAKER_01]: farari right because farari is gone from you know we heard 25 years the skmo story he last

[00:45:16] [SPEAKER_01]: race for farari farari is gone from having the iceman racing for them to now having the

[00:45:22] [SPEAKER_01]: ice cream bala racing for them given that shahla claire has started his ice cream brand in itself

[00:45:28] [SPEAKER_01]: you see what's it a nice music sale now i know his brand his brand is called leck lc but yeah

[00:45:38] [SPEAKER_01]: the white for the louis angie fruit but that's a good one i yeah i like that you know yeah maybe

[00:45:44] [SPEAKER_01]: f1 will take some royalty from the leck brand you never know 1.6 euros a pop

[00:45:52] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe because 16 euros is too much right you think exactly 1.6 could be good but in the last

[00:45:58] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah in the last 12 races at sun foot six have been one from pole position seven have been one

[00:46:05] [SPEAKER_01]: from the front row but 10th place has actually won two times as has fourth place so it's a mixed

[00:46:13] [SPEAKER_01]: up one and i think the last six races at sun foot it's either the first place or the 10th place

[00:46:20] [SPEAKER_01]: that is one nothing else in the middle so lots of fun stats fun history fun facts from the weekend

[00:46:27] [SPEAKER_00]: we should also predict who finishes second in this season that's something we are i'm gonna

[00:46:32] [SPEAKER_00]: track and go back to 10 races later so landon oris is currently second shahla claire's pretty

[00:46:38] [SPEAKER_00]: close in third then we have piastry sines hamilton in that order russles eighth who do you think finishes

[00:46:45] [SPEAKER_00]: second at the end of the championship i don't want no somers are you okay yeah i was doing piastry for

[00:46:52] [SPEAKER_02]: this is a pretty sure no no no noris noris no no you cannot choose piastry the points gap is a

[00:46:58] [SPEAKER_02]: bit too much is it not okay from what i read 32 32 that's gonna be hard to overcome i mean even

[00:47:05] [SPEAKER_02]: though i do believe piastry will evolve better but 32 points is a is this a tough one to cut down

[00:47:15] [SPEAKER_01]: unless there's a dnf of some sort so i would say landon oris is gonna get there but you know

[00:47:20] [SPEAKER_01]: let's also let's also extend this question we know max wishchap is gonna win he's not gonna

[00:47:26] [SPEAKER_01]: have three dns and landon is gonna win three races and suddenly change the the whole picture of

[00:47:32] [SPEAKER_01]: the driver's championship but by what margin will max wishchap and win the driver's championship because

[00:47:39] [SPEAKER_01]: as the races go by and as the margin gets narrower it also gets more and more nervous for the team

[00:47:48] [SPEAKER_01]: and driver who are leading will it go down all the way to the wire because max has won the

[00:47:54] [SPEAKER_01]: driver's championships four five races before i remember in japan at seven in the morning

[00:47:59] [SPEAKER_01]: and suddenly his crowned victory everyone's confused has he actually won 2022 if i remember

[00:48:05] [SPEAKER_01]: but maybe we should run this poll on social media by what race will max wishchap and win

[00:48:09] [SPEAKER_01]: the driver's championship but more importantly but by what margin and why don't i start with

[00:48:15] [SPEAKER_02]: you samul what do you think his margin is going to be i think it's only going to be

[00:48:21] [SPEAKER_02]: between 60 70 points what it is there currently because even though he has been

[00:48:28] [SPEAKER_02]: losing races he's still been improving his championship lead believe it or not so i feel

[00:48:34] [SPEAKER_01]: it's gonna be there about yeah despite despite all of that i think he it was just monaco and

[00:48:39] [SPEAKER_01]: hungary where he lost points to landon every other race he's been there or there or he's not lost

[00:48:46] [SPEAKER_01]: points yeah that's a good point so you think it's going to be even stevens even in the next

[00:48:51] [SPEAKER_01]: 10 races max and his talent and whatever is going to pull things out his efficiency of

[00:48:55] [SPEAKER_01]: scoring strong results will hold him in good stead even though maclaren rather the volatility behind

[00:49:01] [SPEAKER_02]: them uh because i feel that again i could very well be wrong i have no basis for this but because

[00:49:09] [SPEAKER_02]: there have been so many drivers winning races in the last three four rounds it only benefits max

[00:49:14] [SPEAKER_02]: because he's not fighting against one clear contender he's fighting against five so at any

[00:49:19] [SPEAKER_02]: given point in time all he has to do is beat landon oris which he has been doing for a bit

[00:49:24] [SPEAKER_02]: so apart from a few races here and there as you mentioned only two where he didn't

[00:49:28] [SPEAKER_00]: so what do you think sundaram i was just looking at the points table as well so he has a hundred

[00:49:32] [SPEAKER_00]: point lead over lecler who's b3 so the only person who he doesn't have a hundred point

[00:49:37] [SPEAKER_00]: lead over is landon oris and that's 78 so like somel said he's not just competing against

[00:49:42] [SPEAKER_00]: noris he's competing against five other drivers who are taking points away from noris so i'm

[00:49:47] [SPEAKER_00]: going to go a little bold and say it's going to be over a hundred points oh over a hundred

[00:49:53] [SPEAKER_00]: a bit over a hundred a bit over a hundred and i think he will clinch it at last vigas this is

[00:50:04] [SPEAKER_02]: commercial success he's going to have the best celebration ever dude i heard that the bcci

[00:50:11] [SPEAKER_02]: has an opening for the chief script officer are you interested you seem to be doing a good

[00:50:17] [SPEAKER_00]: job of writing the script so far mr jillian last year as well i did it last year as well in july

[00:50:22] [SPEAKER_00]: i predicted that worst happen is going to win it after the cutters print which happened in

[00:50:28] [SPEAKER_00]: november and he did on a saturday on a saturday yes so here's my prediction late august i'm

[00:50:36] [SPEAKER_02]: saying it's gonna happen last vigas well if it has to the conquest has to begin somewhere

[00:50:40] [SPEAKER_00]: that doesn't add up if he has a hundred point lead it's supposed to happen four races before

[00:50:45] [SPEAKER_00]: four races before yeah yes it doesn't add up so it's supposed to be either brazil or last vigas now i'm

[00:50:52] [SPEAKER_00]: a little now i'm going last vigas screw the points i'm going last vigas i think it's i think

[00:51:00] [SPEAKER_01]: it's gonna be to the second last race of the season that's my reading and it's going to be

[00:51:07] [SPEAKER_01]: about 30 points only i think it's gonna be that close i think that's my my reading but let's see

[00:51:17] [SPEAKER_01]: but uh that's it from us this folks normal arora has run out of uh run out of petrol on the last

[00:51:24] [SPEAKER_01]: few laps so he's uh he's had a dnf this race preview podcast we will be back after the race

[00:51:32] [SPEAKER_01]: in and for our race preview or rather race review and there's of course the the monza preview as well

[00:51:39] [SPEAKER_01]: so maybe we'll club the two who knows because i know the other two boys are gonna be at the

[00:51:43] [SPEAKER_01]: racetrack and i'd rather they have fun there than sit in front of a mic in a home studio recording

[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_01]: a podcast episode so thank you very much for tuning in let's see how this race weekend

[00:51:53] [SPEAKER_01]: pans out thank you sundaram and we'll see you after some food
