[00:00:00] Namaskar! Welcome to another episode of Editorial. We continue with Adani and US Allocations.
[00:00:10] Did Gautam Adani pay Jagan Reddy 200 Million Dollars as Bribe? That's what we'll discuss. Let's get right into the show.
[00:00:20] So, before I start my editorial, let me tell you a lot of information that I share with you today.
[00:00:31] I have taken it from the scroll, so courtesy scroll, a lot of information that I'm sharing with you today.
[00:00:41] Let's get to the editorial. So what is the editorial? The editorial is about whether Jagan Reddy has met with Gautam Adani
[00:00:50] and whether Gautam Adani went and met Jagan Reddy and offered him 200 Million Dollars as bribe.
[00:00:57] Story is this. So let us start. Yesterday we spoke about the US indictment on Gautam Adani for paying bribe.
[00:01:10] And the US indictment says Gautam Adani paid bribe. Gautam Adani personally met the officials of Andhra Pradesh and paid bribe to them.
[00:01:21] This is what the indictment says. But what the indictment doesn't say is who he met.
[00:01:28] Indictment doesn't say he met the Chief Minister or Home Minister or something. Nothing.
[00:01:31] Indictment says he met officials. Point number 2. The US Security and Exchange Commission says a different story.
[00:01:46] The United States Security and Exchange says that Adani personally went and met YS Jagan Reddy, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh,
[00:01:58] and told him Baba Reh, please buy energy from SECI and I will sell energy to SECI and for which I will offer you 200 Million Dollars.
[00:02:12] This is what the United States Security and Exchange Commission says in their complaint.
[00:02:19] In fact, let me read the complaint out to you. In the complaint they say that in August 2021,
[00:02:27] Gautam Adani personally met with the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh about the fact that Andhra Pradesh has not entered into a power supply agreement with SECI
[00:02:38] and the incentives needed to cause Andhra Pradesh to do so.
[00:02:44] That means Baba,
[00:02:48] SECI with an agreement to buy power and we will incentivize you to get into that agreement.
[00:02:57] This is what Gautam Adani met Jagan Reddy for.
[00:03:02] You see, interestingly, states were not buying from SECI.
[00:03:10] Much of states were not buying from SECI.
[00:03:14] You know why? Because SECI was selling energy at a very high price.
[00:03:18] And states said why should we buy from SECI?
[00:03:21] So, SECI had no takers.
[00:03:25] Achha, now Adani and his partner Ashur, they had decided to sell the energy to SECI.
[00:03:34] If the states don't buy from SECI, then how will Adani's energy go get sold?
[00:03:41] Problem dha na?
[00:03:42] So, they had to incentivize state to make them buy from SECI.
[00:03:48] So, they started with Andhra Pradesh.
[00:03:51] This is what US Security and Exchange Commission says.
[00:03:56] They started with Andhra Pradesh, met the Chief Minister,
[00:03:59] told the Chief Minister buy from SECI and we will incentivize you.
[00:04:05] Incentivize, it means $200 million.
[00:04:08] $200 million.
[00:04:10] Okay.
[00:04:13] Now, as things happened, just after the meeting, Andhra Pradesh agreed to purchase 7 gigawatts,
[00:04:26] which is 7000 megawatts of energy from SECI.
[00:04:30] Immediately.
[00:04:32] Now, the US government says,
[00:04:34] Dekho, this man went and met the Chief Minister, offered $200 million.
[00:04:41] And that meeting actually translated into actual agreement.
[00:04:47] The agreement happened and they agreed to buy 7 gigawatts of energy from Adani.
[00:04:54] So, here it is.
[00:04:55] Proof and the pudding.
[00:04:59] Everything there.
[00:05:00] Correct?
[00:05:01] This is what happened.
[00:05:03] Now, YSR says, no, no, no, no, no, no.
[00:05:06] YSR says, that nothing happened.
[00:05:07] The YSR Congress issued a statement saying that the allegations made by the state government in the light of the indictment are incorrect.
[00:05:16] It said that there is no direct agreement between Andhra Pradesh power distribution companies and any other entities including those belonging to Adani Group.
[00:05:26] Now, the point is, they are saying that we don't have any agreement with any power distribution company including that of Adani Group.
[00:05:33] Now, the US commission never said that they had agreement with Adani Group.
[00:05:38] They said they had agreement with SECI.
[00:05:40] Okay.
[00:05:41] But Reddy and his party refused.
[00:05:45] Nothing of this sort.
[00:05:47] Now, just before we close, Adani Green's executive to executive of Azure had indicated that Andhra Pradesh bribe payment was approximately $200 million.
[00:05:59] That is what US Security and Exchange Commission said.
[00:06:02] And this was also consistent to Adani's internal record.
[00:06:06] So, this is the $200 million story.
[00:06:09] It is something that they found from a lot of different communication.
[00:06:16] Adani Green executive to Azure group and also internal documentation of Adani.
[00:06:23] The point is, there was a company called SECI which belonged to the government of India.
[00:06:30] It is Solar Energy Corporation of India.
[00:06:33] This company, their sourcing was expensive and they possibly, they too, obviously, they also must have had reasons for buying expensive energy.
[00:06:44] Adani had to sell his energy at a super profit because he had committed some huge $2 billion profit to his investors in United States.
[00:06:55] And with this, he had to sell his energy to somebody, to SECI.
[00:07:00] But SECI would only buy his energy if some states buy it from SECI.
[00:07:05] Otherwise, SECI energy will do what will do.
[00:07:07] So, then they had to make the state buy the energy from SECI.
[00:07:12] So, they approached Andhra Pradesh, got Jagan Reddy, paid Jagan Reddy.
[00:07:16] These are all allegations made by Security and Exchange Commission of United States.
[00:07:22] These are not what we are saying.
[00:07:24] These are the allegations made by them.
[00:07:25] So, they made Jagan Reddy.
[00:07:26] So, Arani went and met Jagan Reddy, paid Jagan Reddy $200 million.
[00:07:31] And lo and behold, Jagan Reddy signed an agreement allegedly with SECI to buy 7 gigawatts which is 7000 megawatts of energy.
[00:07:44] This is the story.
[00:07:46] This is the story.
[00:07:47] Full.
[00:07:48] Full and final.
[00:07:52] Now, White House says that, you know, one of the spokespersons of White House says that they are confident that US can navigate the ongoing crisis surrounding the bribery case against Gautam Adali.
[00:08:05] I didn't understand what this statement meant.
[00:08:08] Navigate?
[00:08:09] What is it?
[00:08:11] Navigate for what?
[00:08:14] It's a bribe case.
[00:08:15] There is a complaint.
[00:08:16] There is a court.
[00:08:17] There is investigating bodies.
[00:08:19] So, but spokesperson said this.
[00:08:21] Obviously, we are aware of these allegations and I would have to refer you to the SEC that is Security and Exchange Commission which is what I told you.
[00:08:31] Department of Justice about the specifics of those allegations against Adani.
[00:08:35] This is what the spokesperson said.
[00:08:37] What I say is on the US and Indian relationship, we believe that it stands on an extremely strong foundation anchored in ties between our people and cooperation across full range of global issues.
[00:08:53] What we believe and we are confident about is that we will continue to navigate this issue so we have other issues that may have come up as you just stated.
[00:09:04] And so, the specifics of this, this is something that the SEC and DOG can speak directly.
[00:09:13] But again, we believe that this relationship between the two nations has been built on strong foundation.
[00:09:19] My question number one, my question number one, a private party from India called Adani who is not India.
[00:09:31] We are getting very confused nowadays.
[00:09:34] Adani is not India.
[00:09:36] Adani is a private company run by a person called Gautam Adani, the chairperson.
[00:09:40] But somewhere down the line, it is integrated as India.
[00:09:46] So this Adani goes to United States, raises investments and bribes Indian officials which is against the law of United States.
[00:09:58] You can't take money from US investors and go and bribe people from other countries.
[00:10:05] You can't do that because that is cheating the US investors.
[00:10:08] So, US investigating bodies, that is the security and exchange commission and the department of justice indicted Gautam Adani.
[00:10:18] It is one private company who happens to be an Indian and who happens to have headquartered in India, who has legal problems in United States.
[00:10:30] And why is United States trying to navigate?
[00:10:33] I can't understand this navigation.
[00:10:35] How is Indian government involved?
[00:10:38] Why is Indian government involved?
[00:10:39] Why would Indian government want to defend or go against this particular case?
[00:10:45] What is Indian government's role in this?
[00:10:47] Indian government has got nothing to do with it.
[00:10:50] Isn't it?
[00:10:51] It is a private company and it is United States departments, justice departments who have indicted them.
[00:10:58] Now they will investigate.
[00:10:59] Their courts will rule and Adani will hire top-notch lawyers there and chances are he may even get off with all these allegations.
[00:11:09] That is what is possibly going to happen.
[00:11:11] But the point is why navigate?
[00:11:13] Why is India Adani and Adani India?
[00:11:17] I didn't understand.
[00:11:18] Point number one.
[00:11:19] Point number two.
[00:11:20] Point number two.
[00:11:22] You see, Jagan Reddy, there are a lot of allegations of bribery against Jagan Reddy.
[00:11:30] A lot of people said that Jagan Reddy was corrupt.
[00:11:34] A lot of people alleged.
[00:11:35] But there were all allegations.
[00:11:37] No ED, no IT, nothing happened against him.
[00:11:42] Now assuming 200 million dollars, which is close to around what?
[00:11:47] Around 1500-1600 crores.
[00:11:50] 200 million dollars exchanged hands.
[00:11:54] And according to US investigating bodies or whatever, US Security and Exchange Commission.
[00:12:00] It exchanged hands between Gautam Adani and Jagan Reddy.
[00:12:04] 200 million dollars.
[00:12:06] 200 million dollars.
[00:12:08] Like I said, roughly around 1600 crores.
[00:12:10] Roughly around 1600 crores.
[00:12:13] Exchange hands.
[00:12:15] No investigating bodies.
[00:12:17] No ED.
[00:12:18] All possibly because Jagan Reddy was the ally of the ruling party, no?
[00:12:26] So no investigating body.
[00:12:28] No ED.
[00:12:29] No chapa.
[00:12:30] No investigation.
[00:12:31] No raids.
[00:12:32] No arrest.
[00:12:32] Arvind Kedriwal.
[00:12:34] Arvind Kedriwal.
[00:12:36] 90 lakhs issue.
[00:12:37] Finally 90 lakhs issue.
[00:12:40] Jailed.
[00:12:41] Anil Deshmukh.
[00:12:42] 100 crore issue.
[00:12:43] Jailed.
[00:12:44] Sanjay Raud.
[00:12:44] 1.06 crore issues.
[00:12:46] Jailed.
[00:12:47] So on and so forth.
[00:12:48] So on and so forth.
[00:12:50] All these people.
[00:12:51] Heman Soren.
[00:12:52] Manish Soria.
[00:12:53] Jailed.
[00:12:53] But Jagan Reddy.
[00:12:56] Who.
[00:12:57] There is allegation of.
[00:12:59] Of 1600 odd crores.
[00:13:02] No problem.
[00:13:03] Nothing happened to him.
[00:13:04] Not even an investigation.
[00:13:06] And.
[00:13:07] This all happened between 2020 and 2024.
[00:13:11] Is what they say.
[00:13:12] And in all this while.
[00:13:14] In five years.
[00:13:15] Nobody knows.
[00:13:15] Nobody came to know.
[00:13:17] No Indian agencies found out.
[00:13:18] No intelligence agencies in India found out.
[00:13:21] And money.
[00:13:22] 1500 crore.
[00:13:23] Got exchanged.
[00:13:24] TK.
[00:13:25] So that's point number two.
[00:13:26] Point number three.
[00:13:28] You see.
[00:13:33] Every time.
[00:13:34] Like I told you yesterday.
[00:13:35] Every time.
[00:13:36] There is a controversy.
[00:13:37] Adani is in the picture.
[00:13:39] Adani is in the middle.
[00:13:41] Of the story.
[00:13:43] Why?
[00:13:45] And why is it.
[00:13:47] That.
[00:13:47] Indian agencies.
[00:13:49] Never find any problem with Adani.
[00:13:51] But foreign agencies.
[00:13:53] Like I told you yesterday.
[00:13:54] Kenya cancelled.
[00:13:55] Their contract with Adani.
[00:13:56] Foreign agencies.
[00:13:58] Foreign investigating bodies.
[00:14:00] Foreign journalists.
[00:14:01] Foreign.
[00:14:03] Investigators.
[00:14:04] Are finding.
[00:14:05] Huge.
[00:14:06] Holes.
[00:14:07] In Adani's businesses.
[00:14:10] How is that possible?
[00:14:12] Why are we blind.
[00:14:13] To this group.
[00:14:15] But.
[00:14:15] The entire world seems to have some point of view or another.
[00:14:17] How is this?
