[00:00:00] Hello my lovely people, warm welcome to Hina's Emo Wisdom Podcast. Well, this is Hina Ambareen Khan, certified wellness coach, certified life coach, Speaker, author, former soil scientist from Indian Institute of Science. And in this episode I am going to deep dive into mastering the self management.

[00:00:20] Well, I am thrilled to have you here and today we are going to explore how self management can transform your personal and professional life. This is crucial skill that has helped me achieve my goals as well and as my personal experience

[00:00:35] and I am excited to share some insights with you. So when you have to understand self management, first let's define what actually self management is. So many people may have a pop up question like what is self management?

[00:00:48] So essentially it is the ability where you have to prioritize your task, control those impulses, manage the time effectively. It's about taking charge of your own actions and responsibilities. I learned through my own journey, my dear friends that mastering self management was

[00:01:04] the key to reaching this fullest potential. You may ask, see we talk a lot about time management, time management. Whatever time we have got how effectively are we using that time? That's more important. This involves prioritizing the task.

[00:01:24] The task you prioritize is based on the values of your goals. Is it aligned with those values? Then you are wasting your time otherwise. You have to set clear goals and make the most of your time, make the most of your

[00:01:38] time, make the most of your time by prioritizing the tasks which are going to align with those values because you're valuable. You value time because you're valuable. You waste time because you feel that you don't have any value as simple as that.

[00:01:54] Simple regulation here we can talk about managing stress, staying focused, maintaining resilience even when things get tough. I'm telling you about the effective skills. Decision making, making the informed decisions. It's about weighing your options carefully, avoiding procrastination which is very critical component of self management.

[00:02:18] See procrastination where anybody is going through a lot has been spoken on this social media but according to me procrastination is one such when you prioritize something you will definitely do. How are you able to do certain tasks?

[00:02:30] Could be it's your laziness or whatever but still you're doing that. It can be brushing your teeth, taking bath or eating your food, something or watching Netflix because you feel that's of importance to you and so you're doing it.

[00:02:42] But when you live with higher values then you are going to do such tasks which are going to make you become more valuable. Netflix is not going to make you valuable. Munching on junk food is not going to make you valuable.

[00:02:58] Having gossip all the time is not going to make you valuable. Your value is aligned with the kind of priorities that you want to give based on what you are. Practical tips and techniques let me tell you as we all know about the goals make

[00:03:13] sure your goals are specific, they are measurable, achievable, relevant and time bound. You need to have a daily routine, create a routine. It has to be consistent habits my dear friends. Consistency is what is the key here. The game changer is your consistency.

[00:03:28] If you have to be productive then be consistent. Otherwise one day you're doing it or in a week you're doing it in the go and then again you're like oh god let me not do it I'm not feeling it like no

[00:03:40] no you don't feel like nobody feels like when you have to achieve something good you don't feel like there's so many obstacles so much of laziness so how many things coming our way stopping us from reaching that because that is going

[00:03:53] to be such a beautiful tasty fruit which we can enjoy but we are not able to enjoy why so that we live in that frustration we live in that agitation we live with that irritability because when we are living with that you're not in a

[00:04:07] position to reach what you want to right. So watching Netflix, gossip, wasting time definitely is not going to help you reach that goal what you're seriously looking for and you know when you are

[00:04:19] going to set the routine have that energy charged energy make it a point that at least 20 minutes in a day I'm going to have this for me this is my routine. Being mindful and reflection mindfulness and reflection practicing mindfulness it can enhance your self-awareness it reduces stress and

[00:04:39] improves your decision making process why people are confused they're not mindful of what they're doing what they want what is happening now no they're not mindful when you overcome these challenges we all face challenges in self-management it can be distractions lack of motivation the motivation happens

[00:04:54] once you take action. Your self-motivation is when you take action you don't need the external motivation all the time when that internal motivation is there inside you that I want to do something and I'm going to

[00:05:06] do it because when someone says you're going to listen to that but when you have to tell yourself it takes so much of time why because that inner yourself is not very strong enough it has become so weak that it needs that

[00:05:17] boost and pump from outside okay so have that boost and pump from within you where you're going to take action when you are feeling not motivated then you only can motivate yourself by taking a small action and by

[00:05:35] acknowledging that celebrating that you could do it every time you are leaving a monotonous life and always not celebrating it will also not make you feel charged right so you have to identify your main distractions and find ways to

[00:05:51] minimize them use the techniques Pomodoro is very common which we always suggest to the people to stay focused and break task into management chunks just do it for 40 minutes just focus and then again take a break for 10 minutes you understand remember when you are taking breaks and reward

[00:06:12] yourself for completing the task this is what I tell my students you have to see when they attend my sessions after the sessions they are so thrilled and charged and I tell them you need to celebrate and they make it a point

[00:06:27] that they go and celebrate and they come and tell me that I celebrated this way in that way and all that that is needed yeah you don't need someone else way of appreciating you validating you or celebrating your way whatever you have

[00:06:41] done you need to celebrate your own self as paradise your yourself your worth what you are then only the world is going to see you right I can share one of the success story for instance there was a person who worked with

[00:06:57] someone who struggled with time management but it turned around using a simple to-do list and prioritizing the task effectively just I tell you write down a to-do list either in the morning or before going to bed what is the

[00:07:12] thing that I have to do three things in a day that's more than enough even if it is very small even if it is the same routine no problem you have done it gradually gradually the next day should be better than yesterday but

[00:07:24] do not be harsher in yourself if you are not able to do it but be kind to yourself and motivate yourself that you are the best and you are going to do it make it more effective because you're more valuable if you know you're

[00:07:35] valuable then you will be doing it if you know you're valuable okay so my dear lovely people let me wrap up and I have covered a lot of ground today remember self-management is a continuous journey of improvement it

[00:07:49] can't be only for a day four or two or four months no it is a continuous journey when you are applying these small strategies I have just told you few strategies and techniques but when you join my sessions I'll make you work with

[00:08:02] certain strategies and techniques that are effectively going to help you out and you can achieve greater control over your life and work towards your goals more and more effectively yeah and I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences with this self-management share your stories or ask any
