[00:00:00] Hello Sunshine and how has your week been?

[00:00:12] We all have avenues that we escape to from time to time, where we escape reality.

[00:00:19] Some of us escape to the gym, some of us escape watching our favourite show on TV, maybe

[00:00:25] on repeat.

[00:00:26] Some of us escape by getting lost in a book.

[00:00:29] For some of us, it's maybe escaping going to the movies, digging into a sinful chocolate

[00:00:35] cake.

[00:00:37] And these are simple pleasures which people call guilty pleasures.

[00:00:41] I don't quite agree with the term guilty pleasures.

[00:00:45] Life can be a circus and it's very very difficult for us to sometimes meet the demands of

[00:00:51] everyday life.

[00:00:53] We're pulled in a million directions, work, family, friends, hobby, chores and much more.

[00:01:01] And it can be overwhelming to constantly keep juggling all of these activities and responsibilities.

[00:01:07] Guilty pleasures that we offer a great way to unwind and escape, even if it's just

[00:01:13] for a little while.

[00:01:15] By taking a break from our daily responsibilities, we can recharge and come back feeling rejuvenated

[00:01:24] and with better focus.

[00:01:26] The truth is we are always balancing our routines.

[00:01:28] Either we're too burnt out because of which we feel lethargic or we're too wired up.

[00:01:34] Either we're too invested in something or we just don't care because we're so

[00:01:40] overwhelmed with what's happening around us.

[00:01:43] And we all need that little bit of space or an activity which we can turn to when we feel

[00:01:48] like we need a break.

[00:01:50] And that's when guilty pleasures work as an absolute remedy to escape.

[00:01:56] I personally, like I said earlier, don't need to feel guilty because how can you feel

[00:02:01] guilty about taking time off for yourself so that you can come back feeling rejuvenated

[00:02:05] or energized?

[00:02:06] When we are in a better mental space, we are able to turn up and show up for the

[00:02:13] people around us.

[00:02:17] It's like a time off to cope with stressful situations in our life.

[00:02:22] And the truth is if you're not there for yourself, you can never truly be there for anybody else.

[00:02:28] It's crucial to take that down time in which we can recharge.

[00:02:32] And frankly, it's I think required today to normalize telling people that you need

[00:02:38] to take that time off to just come back to your balance, to come back to your

[00:02:42] center, to feel a little centered.

[00:02:44] It doesn't make you a lazy person but it's crucial to keep yourself and your energy

[00:02:50] intact which is why you need to take that break from time to time.

[00:02:55] Taking time to do whatever you want to showing yourself some self-compassion.

[00:03:01] And we should do that whenever we can.

[00:03:03] There was a very interesting quote I read, engaging in guilty pleasure brings out

[00:03:07] your inner child.

[00:03:09] You engage in mischief and find it thrilling.

[00:03:12] You're testing the boundaries of how far you can go without being caught.

[00:03:17] And that's probably the reason why every time we go out and enjoy that movie or catch

[00:03:22] up with an old friend who can just let you hang out in the most organic manner where

[00:03:28] you can have an honest conversation or every time you watch a show that you really

[00:03:33] like, you feel a sense of relief.

[00:03:37] You allow yourself to give in to that guilty pleasure because at the end of it you end up

[00:03:41] feeling calmer, happier somehow.

[00:03:44] So here's to each one of us doing whatever it is that makes sense to us to come back

[00:03:50] feeling more rejuvenated and recharged.

[00:03:53] Have a great week everyone and we'll speak to you again next week.
