[00:00:06] So good evening everyone, I hope you all are doing well and just to understand what is our specific needs especially for the human beings and why we drive to achieve something especially the motivation side.

[00:00:24] So for that I just want to introduce one of the theory named Mashalos Hierarchy of Needs.

[00:00:31] So especially this theory has been designed especially by the Mashalos and name is given based on his name only.

[00:00:40] So it has been redefined multiple times so basically from you know 40s era then again it's refined in the 70s era and it came in 2 to 3 versions actually.

[00:00:52] So but we are going to talk about the base theory then I will add a little bit about extension also.

[00:00:59] So what Mashalos theory especially has been designed to understand the psychological aspects of the human needs and why we drive for the motivation and what motivates us to achieve something in life.

[00:01:15] So you will be able to understand and map accordingly and then we will try to map with our specially you know healing arts and the painting side also.

[00:01:25] Why we should pursue that.

[00:01:26] So let's understand the base foundation of the human needs.

[00:01:30] So that is called the specially the physiological in the sense you know basic needs.

[00:01:37] Basic needs what are the human's basic needs.

[00:01:39] Basic need is food, water, shelter and then you know reproductive needs and also especially the environmental stability.

[00:01:50] That also comes in the basic needs.

[00:01:52] So that is called the specially the physiological needs you know.

[00:01:56] We can even give another name also it is called especially in the extension part of the Mashalos theory that is called the deficiency need.

[00:02:06] In the sense you know without meeting those need that is really required especially with respect to motivating ourselves to achieve something in our life.

[00:02:18] So that is called the deficiency needs also.

[00:02:22] And in other language we can call it as a basic needs also.

[00:02:26] Now let's understand the next layer.

[00:02:28] Next layer is specially that is called the safety needs.

[00:02:32] Everyone want to feel safe especially whether it is your family environment or it is you know society or it is specially the you know if you are going out specially.

[00:02:46] So everybody want to feel safe.

[00:02:49] It can be a physical safety and it can be emotional safety also.

[00:02:54] So that also another factor with respect to the motivation.

[00:02:59] So safety needs includes you know I told you physical safety, psychological safety and even health related safety also.

[00:03:08] Or just to you know sense of feeling safe.

[00:03:12] So it is called the safety needs.

[00:03:14] And let me tell you everybody is you know need different.

[00:03:17] Their level of motivation different.

[00:03:20] You know basic needs and safety needs.

[00:03:22] Now what is the next layer?

[00:03:25] Next layer is especially the feeling of belongingness.

[00:03:30] That is the you know specially related to love and belongingness.

[00:03:34] So anything whether it is a family environment, whether it is a society or whether it is simply you know your work environment.

[00:03:44] That belongingness you know you belong to that.

[00:03:47] That need is very important.

[00:03:49] You know with respect to the love and belongingness.

[00:03:53] Now what is the next level of needs are?

[00:03:56] Next level of needs is specially that is.

[00:04:00] One second.

[00:04:01] Yeah.

[00:04:03] So next level of needs are specially that is called the self-esteemness.

[00:04:10] In the sense self-esteem means feeling of achieving something.

[00:04:15] That can be that can come from your career also.

[00:04:18] That can come from your family also.

[00:04:20] So self-esteem needs also differ from person to person.

[00:04:25] How they are feeling fulfilled especially whether you know how they are getting and what is boosting their self-esteem.

[00:04:33] So those type of needs every.

[00:04:35] You will get it you know self-esteem.

[00:04:38] Their needs will get fulfilled from their family also.

[00:04:41] But for everybody it is not the same.

[00:04:43] Some will get it from the you know their social settings also.

[00:04:47] Some will get from their work environment also.

[00:04:49] So meeting those needs are very important.

[00:04:53] Now what is the you know last layer of the needs that is called the self-actualization.

[00:04:58] So self-actualization means reaching your full potential.

[00:05:03] In the sense everybody's full potential is a different but you are feeling fulfilled.

[00:05:09] You are able to self-actualize based on your current skills you know.

[00:05:15] So that is called the self-actualization.

[00:05:18] The moment you realize this is what is your full potential and you are able to utilize that.

[00:05:25] Whether it is a family environment whether it is a society settings or whether it is you know your work environment.

[00:05:31] So you are able to fully actualize yourself.

[00:05:34] So that is called the self-actualization.

[00:05:36] Now try to map it map that with the common scenario.

[00:05:40] Let's understand that.

[00:05:42] Somebody who is struggling with the basic needs such as finance and then money related or simply food related you know.

[00:05:50] Or the simple such as reproductive etc.

[00:05:54] All those type of needs.

[00:05:55] Air.

[00:05:56] Air also.

[00:05:57] Air.

[00:05:57] Water.

[00:05:58] Right.

[00:05:58] Water consumption.

[00:05:58] Water consumption.

[00:05:59] So their motivation is to achieve that only.

[00:06:03] That is called the basic needs.

[00:06:05] Now once they are able to do that their basic needs are fulfilled.

[00:06:10] Then we look forward for the next level of need.

[00:06:13] So what was next level of need?

[00:06:14] That was a safe teenage.

[00:06:16] But let me tell you it doesn't go in the sequence.

[00:06:20] You know this theory also tells like it's not necessary for the person to go in that sequentially.

[00:06:27] But ideally that should happen.

[00:06:29] You know with respect to reaching to your full potential.

[00:06:32] Those needs should meet for the long term of sustainability with respect to self-actualization.

[00:06:40] But it differs from person to person.

[00:06:43] Some may be you know they are struggling with their basic needs.

[00:06:48] But still they are able to you know contribute to the society.

[00:06:53] That also it happens you know.

[00:06:55] Someone is struggling with the safety needs.

[00:06:58] Still they are able to you know contribute in their family etc.

[00:07:01] All those things that.

[00:07:02] So that's what I am telling.

[00:07:04] Their motivation can be different from person to person.

[00:07:07] But ideally that is that should you know progress it.

[00:07:11] You know in the sequence way.

[00:07:13] So that you can actually reach to your full potential.

[00:07:17] As a normal human being.

[00:07:20] Now let's understand these level of each type of needs differ from person to person.

[00:07:27] Maybe somebody's motive is not to be very financially stable.

[00:07:31] Finance is a basic needs.

[00:07:33] But it's still they they are you know belongingness.

[00:07:37] Belonging on their environment.

[00:07:39] Maybe their needs are very high.

[00:07:40] So that also can happen.

[00:07:42] That can on.

[00:07:43] So that might take some time to fulfill that.

[00:07:46] You know in the sense.

[00:07:47] Now somebody's self-esteem needs are very high.

[00:07:51] In the sense they have to be top of all the games etc.

[00:07:55] Then they will feel like you know something about themselves.

[00:07:59] So those needs are different.

[00:08:02] And some people are very uncommon.

[00:08:04] They are fine with something happened within family.

[00:08:06] And that is that is sufficient for them.

[00:08:09] So that requirement differ from person to person.

[00:08:14] That is also there.

[00:08:15] And it's not necessary to drive everything sequentially.

[00:08:19] That is also another point.

[00:08:20] Now let's understand what is a self-actualization.

[00:08:24] Self-actualization is when you are able to meet all your basic needs.

[00:08:29] Whether it is a safety needs or whether it's a physiological environmental needs.

[00:08:34] And then love and belongingness etc.

[00:08:36] So those all spatially you know come under the deficiency needs.

[00:08:43] That is required spatially to self-actualize use.

[00:08:47] Self-fulfillment.

[00:08:48] It's required to meet all the deficiency needs.

[00:08:52] Whether it is a basic needs, safety needs or love and belongingness.

[00:08:57] This is required to reach to the full potential.

[00:09:01] Now what is the growth needs?

[00:09:03] Rest of the two layers is called the growth need.

[00:09:06] Which is a self-esteem needs and self-actualization.

[00:09:09] So when those needs are able to meet it.

[00:09:12] That is called the growth needs.

[00:09:14] Now let's understand spatially the extension of this model.

[00:09:18] Extension of this model again has been redefined in the year 1970.

[00:09:24] Especially 71 I can recall.

[00:09:26] And that was additional three layers has been added.

[00:09:30] So what those were three layers?

[00:09:32] Three layers were related to you know one of them was the aesthetic needs.

[00:09:37] Spatially.

[00:09:38] And then you know wisdom needs or something.

[00:09:41] And there was you know one more.

[00:09:43] So I will maybe cover that in our next video.

[00:09:46] Extension part.

[00:09:47] But for the time being let's understand these five spatially pillars are the you know five.

[00:09:55] These layers are the pillar of the motivation.

[00:09:58] So how we can use this theory in our day-to-day life?

[00:10:02] You can use that everywhere spatially.

[00:10:05] If you really want to motivate somebody.

[00:10:07] You can really use it.

[00:10:09] If you are a leader leadership position.

[00:10:10] This is very much required to understand your team also.

[00:10:13] You know what actually it is happening with them.

[00:10:17] Rather than you know expecting setting the unexpected you know results from them.

[00:10:22] Let's understand that.

[00:10:23] So it is really it's very much required to understand where they are exactly.

[00:10:28] You know so it is really important.

[00:10:31] And trust me it works.

[00:10:33] Because you know it is a well proven.

[00:10:34] So if you really want to motivate something.

[00:10:37] Let's understand first where they are exactly.

[00:10:41] You know are they struggling with the safety needs.

[00:10:44] Are they struggling with the basic needs only.

[00:10:47] Or they are not feelings a lot of you know security related issues.

[00:10:52] Or the belongingness.

[00:10:53] They are not able to find themselves fit into that maybe culture society.

[00:10:59] Or that is not diversified or not inclusive.

[00:11:02] Or anything can happen.

[00:11:03] So that belongingness is not coming.

[00:11:05] So you can add those points to make that motivating for others.

[00:11:11] Especially.

[00:11:12] You know so that that is very much required.

[00:11:15] But what is required before that.

[00:11:17] To understand what is stopping them.

[00:11:20] Especially with respect to you know motivating.

[00:11:23] Because if you don't know anything about them.

[00:11:25] And you are simply motivating it doesn't work.

[00:11:27] That is the reason.

[00:11:29] You may be applying the same motivation principle for everybody.

[00:11:34] But it might not be working for everyone.

[00:11:36] Because their needs might be different.

[00:11:39] So your motivation strategy also should change according to their needs.

[00:11:44] If somebody is struggling with the basics.

[00:11:46] Such as food water.

[00:11:47] You are telling them about the self-actualization.

[00:11:51] You know spirituality and all those things.

[00:11:53] So maybe at one point due to cultural aspects.

[00:11:57] It will not otherwise.

[00:11:58] In normal condition.

[00:12:00] It doesn't make sense.

[00:12:02] Similarly.

[00:12:03] Somebody is you know looking for belongingness etc.

[00:12:06] And you are telling them more about the finance and basic things.

[00:12:10] It will not go along.

[00:12:11] Because they will not be able to relate.

[00:12:13] Because their you know needs are totally different.

[00:12:16] Something like that.

[00:12:17] And somebody is struggling with the self-esteem needs.

[00:12:20] You know you know you will talk.

[00:12:22] Talk about the totally basic things etc.

[00:12:24] It will not go with them.

[00:12:26] You know that that will not go with them.

[00:12:28] And more than that.

[00:12:30] Somebody is struggling with the basic things.

[00:12:32] And you are especially.

[00:12:33] And you are talking about this you know different.

[00:12:38] Like a safety system etc.

[00:12:40] So that will not you know go well.

[00:12:43] Especially.

[00:12:44] So always remember to whom you are motivating.

[00:12:47] What are what are they are struggling with.

[00:12:49] Which need they are struggling with in your team.

[00:12:51] And also you know what exactly they want.

[00:12:54] And always remember same motivation and etc.

[00:12:58] Doesn't work for everybody.

[00:13:00] Now how to apply this especially while doing the practice.

[00:13:04] Because especially doing the healing art practice.

[00:13:07] So let me tell you.

[00:13:08] Painting is one of the activity.

[00:13:11] One of the activity which will really give you the sense of.

[00:13:15] You know whether you are struggling with the belongingness.

[00:13:18] Or you are struggling with emotional safety issues also.

[00:13:22] Or simply self-esteem.

[00:13:24] And more than that you know self-actualization.

[00:13:28] So painting will give you all sense of freedom.

[00:13:31] I am not telling like it will replace.

[00:13:33] Your existing issue there.

[00:13:35] You may have to work.

[00:13:36] But other than that.

[00:13:38] If you have issue with you know self-esteem.

[00:13:40] Or you feel self-actualization.

[00:13:43] You might be seeing so many people go to what the spirituality reason is self-actualization.

[00:13:48] Because that will set them into totally different space.

[00:13:52] Where they feel a type of you know.

[00:13:56] Especially the self-actualization.

[00:13:58] And their other needs will.

[00:14:01] Other needs will become you know.

[00:14:04] Less as compared to their actual self-actualization.

[00:14:07] You know once somebody is getting more towards into the spirituality.

[00:14:12] Similarly if you are more towards the creativity and art side.

[00:14:17] It will help you with respect to you know.

[00:14:19] That needs to reach your full potential.

[00:14:22] Same time self-esteem.

[00:14:24] It also works on the emotional healing side.

[00:14:26] And it will really create a safe space for you to express yourself.

[00:14:31] I cannot tell you.

[00:14:32] It will give you your basic needs.

[00:14:33] Basic needs are definitely you have to manage it.

[00:14:37] And you have to work on that.

[00:14:39] But for all other things it will really support you.

[00:14:42] It will not replace you your existing thing that you have to work in.

[00:14:46] But it will fulfill and it will really give you that space.

[00:14:51] For the emotional safety environment.

[00:14:53] Or the expressing yourself fully.

[00:14:55] Or the self-esteem side.

[00:14:57] And belongingness side.

[00:14:59] Because you are connected with something.

[00:15:01] Especially you know any art activities etc.

[00:15:04] It will give you that feeling.

[00:15:06] It will give you that joy.

[00:15:07] It will not replace you the existing one.

[00:15:10] But it will help you to fill that gap.

[00:15:12] If you are really struggling with that.

[00:15:14] So I hope this will help you.

[00:15:16] If you differ from anything.

[00:15:18] You can put your comments into the comment window.

[00:15:20] So I hope this will help.

[00:15:20] Because I have created this video.

[00:15:23] Based on my understanding.

[00:15:25] And I have used that also.

[00:15:26] In one of the my assignments.

[00:15:30] And there was a one case study also.

[00:15:32] I have used it.

[00:15:33] But if you differ.

[00:15:34] And you feel like you know something I have missed.

[00:15:36] You can put that into the comment section.

[00:15:39] And look forward to it.

[00:15:40] So bye bye.

[00:15:41] Take care.

[00:15:41] Bye bye.
